Chain Set is an Armor Set in Elden Ring. Chain Set is a Lightweight armor that provides a good balance of defensive properties, with Slash being the strongest. Sets of Armor in Elden Ring are composed of four armor pieces which are Helms, Chest Armor, Gauntlets, and Leg Armor.
Where to find Chain Set in Elden Ring
All four pieces of this armor set may be purchased from Merchant Kalé, located at his camp by the Limgrave: Church of Elleh Site of Grace. The set costs 4500 Runes total (1500 for the chest armor and 1000 for the rest of the set). [Elden Ring Map here]

Chain Set Elden Ring Notes and Tips
- The Chain Set is the most easily available set of armor for a new character, being located very close to the start of the game and not too expensive to purchase, which makes it a good choice for starting classes who would otherwise lack early-game protection.
- The Tree Surcoat and Eye Surcoat can be used as an alternative to the Chain Armor in the Chain Set.
- Poise updated to patch 1.07. See Patch Notes for details.

"Standard issue for ordinary Soldiers." not even a single soldier we see in game use this

I always liked running around as a peasant in chain mail for the first couple of hours in the game. Sadly, in DS3 and ER the optimal melee class has been fused with the Knight, so now you actually start with the best stats and better armor than the starting set you have to buy, which is kind of silly.

Any other sets that change depending on gender? Thanks in advance to any replies.

Tried adding to this by stating that the Tree Surcoat and Eye Surcoat can be used as alternatives to the chest piece, but don’t know how to turn the text into links that leads to their pages.

The chad set, only wish the female version had full length arms and gloves

Why of all sets is the torso/headpiece so vastly different for the 2 gender options? They could genuinely be two separate sets and they'd be more different than some other sets in the game. Not that big of a deal just really confusing

I thought it was one of the unique armor set like Knight set and Iron set until I saw Lanya, Diallos tomboy friend, wearing them

The iron greathelm goes amazing with this set. The helmet even has a chain coif underneath

I'd wager this is like the "Claymore" of armor sets.
It's consistent, reliable, and it's always a good option in every souls game.
You really can't go wrong with this set.

'Standard issue for ordinary soldiers.'
Bruh I've yet to find a single soldier in this game wearing it lol

The arms and legs of this set with the Great Helm and Blue Chain Tabard for the authentic 13th century knight look

They really did nerf the fashion potential of this set compared to DS3... Chest piece is no longer as historically accurate. No more nice tight leggings, instead it looks like you sat in a cowpat.
Ignore the previous comment, nothing changed. It's just that this set on females looks very different.
