Leather Set is an Armor Set in Elden Ring. Leather Set is a light weight armor set worn by Patches the Untethered. Sets of Armor in Elden Ring are composed of four armor pieces which are Helms, Chest Armor, Gauntlets, and Leg Armor.
Where to find Leather Armor in Elden Ring
- The Armor, Gloves and Boots of the set will drop from Patches if he is killed by the player. [Elden Ring Map here]
- The easiest time to do this is during his boss fight in Murkwater Cave by simply finishing him off instead of yielding.
- The Black Hood is found in a chest behind one of the illusory walls in Sage's Cave in Altus Plateau.
- Can be acquired at the Scenic Isle grace in Liurnia
- At Patches's final location at the Shaded Castle

...is there any indication at all that the black hood is part of this set? It doesn't match visually, having a weird shape and different color, and it doesn't have the common description shared by the rest of the set. Really odd that some guy's fashion preference would lead to a mislabeling like this

if patches wasnted to live he shouldn't have worn the best looking armor set in the game. sorry pal, fashion first

The vulgar militia set (excluding the helmet) is a great alternative for anyone who wants this set but dosen't want to kill patches

I got this by complete accident. I think Patches fell off a cliff while I was trying to find him in Altus. His dialogue played and I got the armor. So yeah, Patches should have leveled dex.

I'm sorry Patches, but it looks like you'll be joining the list of Undead Merchant, Simon and Sirris that I killed for their ****

Is there any way to get this armor set while not killing Patches?
- Anonymous
To the child that likes to throw out accusations of lying wily-nily, you can get the armor in Liurnia if you kill Patches when you meet him in Liurnia.

oopsie daisy! i totally didn't notice patches was surrendering and accidentally killed him! what a silly goose i am! oh look! cool armor!

the set also drops if you kill him in the cave after the shaded castle

Why does this set even have poise? Anything less than 51 poise is equivalent to 0 poise in this game. They should just remove the poise and lower the weight so you don't need 50 END to wear this without midrolling.

According to who and what is the black hood considered a part of the leather set? It doesn't match at all. If it were to be a part of any set it would be an alternate to the bandit mask.

Why is this the only good looking feminine armor in the entire game?
- Anonymous
the type b/female version of this armor is honestly the cutest armor in the whole game. feminine enough to differentiate, but still looks like armor. very nice, recommend it for type b/female characters.

Gonna kill him right before starting NG+ ig, still gonna feel bad about it :(

Darn I really thought I could get Patches items without killing him, but all I have is a reopened shop an patches squat...
- Anonymous
Actually wholesome comments? On Fextralife?! I must be dreaming...
- Anonymous
So the only way to get the rest of the set is to murder Patches?
- Anonymous
This would look pretty nice for a Link cosplay build, but the fact that you need to murder a guy to get it seems a bit counter to the whole "Hero of Hyrule" thing...

Wore this set for pretty much the entire game with a bandit mask.
Looks awesome (great detail) and suits light roll/thief build.

you're telling me all I have to do to get this drippy set is just kill patches?

If you kill him before finishing volcano manor you lose the chance to get the bullgoat armor set and magma whip. The whip is eh but the bullgoat armor is likely the best armor in the game stat wise, highest dam negations and poise. That said it's so heavy that it's more usable in new game+, so if you want the leather then go ahead.
Just kill him right after you got the Crouch Gesture from him.

The only acceptable way to acquire it is if you are almost at the verge of fixing the Elden Ring. Anything else is inexcusable.

If you have a buddy, you can make a patches killer character, run and kill him, nerijus and yura for a nagakiba + reduvia and just transfer the items :)
- Anonymous
if you dont want the guilt of killing patches you can do the entire volcano manor quest (get everyone to leave) without ever going to murkwater cave, then his gear and bell bearing will be lying on the ground in the cave where he'd normally be fought

I wish you could buy this from Patches. Ah well, looks like I'm gonna be killing him in a lot of my runs because it's one of the few nice looking early game armors...

His last location is no longer the same (apparently since 1.04). He returns to Murkwater Cave, where you first encounter him. If you spare him you do get his "Patches' Crouch", but I don't think you can get the armor without killing him at some point. At least he doesn't just vanish anymore.

They ought to have made it so the Leather Set (minus the hood) was in the Murkwater Cave chest the second time you open it at the end of Patches's quest, instead of just a useless glass shard. Would've been a nice final reward for sticking to it for so long instead of forcing us to kill him for his bling.

I will absolutely do Patches in, on principle of having no principles. DS3 had him go all "noble thief," and Bloodborne done nerfed that by having him be a stan for a great one. Now he's a stan for another character in this game. Patches gettin' wrecked.

After patch 1.04 I don't know if there is a way to get this armor set without killing Patches. it was an easy choice when his quest just ended abruptly but now that seems to be fixed. Is there a new way or must one still kill him to obtain it?
- Anonymous
Does he drop it if you kill him in his last spot before he disappears permanently?

How is the black hood part of this set? Nowhere can I find any information that says so.

I hate him with a passion and I want his armor but god I can't kill him for some reason

I love the look of this armor, but apparently something within me loves even more to be kicked and backstabbed, I can't kill this lovely bastard...

This website isn't letting me edit this page despite signing up for it, so I'm just gonna point out that this armor set weighs 16.9, not 13.9.

Heard Patches got a new step in his questline after the latest..patch, did It change anything about this armor or is killing him the only way of obtaining this?
- Anonymous
I don't know if I have the strenght to do it... I can't hurt my homie Patches after all the backstabbing he has done. So many good times together...

merked patches but the server went offline for the big update and i got both the set and kept patches alive lmao

The female version of this outfit is sexy as hell, and I have no regrets killing Patches, the cowardly little nerd.

Can someone please drop me this set? I can pay or trade for it, my PSN is ShabbyWizard. Thanks.

Some fashion, no matter how good, just ain’t worth the sacrifice.
- Anonymous
Thirteen years, and this is the first time we've had to kill him for fashion. It hurts too much, I can't do it
- Anonymous
If it was a bit darker, he'd be history. I just wait until someone is willing to drop this for me so i can have it AND spare the little bastard.
- Anonymous
I found myself with an extra pair of boots from this set at one point, I honestly don't know when I got them but it sure wasn't from Patches.
Makes me think you can find the set somewhere, likely as a drop. I sadly can't say where though.

Bling is temporary, friendship is eternal *gets backstabed*

I can’t bring myself to kill Patches… He’s been a good friend to me over the years… Sure he’s pushed me off a few ledges, tried locking me in a tower, and gave me false hopes of treasure, but he always apologizes and sells me stuff, how can I kill a bald guy in such a lovable little squat?

Zero regrets acquiring this set. I've been pushed off one too many cliffs.
Though in my playthrough he never begged for mercy before dying....

Anyone know a way to get it without killing the lovable bastard?

A few comments asking why the black hood is being listed as part of the leather set despite no real ingame indication that is is(found in different location, not really matching visually and having different item description to the rest of the leather set). If you look at the item IDs, the black hood is part of the same ID group as the leather set, much like any headpiece is part of the same ID group as the rest of the pieces in its set. I'd agree it doesn't really fit, but in some capacity it was meant to be.
