Spellblade Set Elden Ring Notes and Tips
- The Spellblade's Traveling Attire can be altered to the Spellblade's Traveling Attire (Altered) to remove the cape.
- Despite what the ingame descriptions say, it increases Magic Damage from ashes of war/skills by 2% per piece worn. Examples include Ice Spear, the magic beam skill of the Sword of Night and Flame (but not the fire skill), or any Ash of War on the Horn Bow, and the buff is not exclusive to glintstone Ashes of War.
- This does NOT boost any sorcery spells, only weapon Ashes of War.
- You can acquire this set without getting the +8 weapon by not talking to him at the round table until he's asleep. Once he dies, click the loot button once and walk away. His weapon will remain on his body.

Curious. As I still don't have this set. Does it increase "ALL" AoW magic/cold affinities? Or only weapons that natively comes with magic/cold skills as default?
example Lions Claw or Royal Knights Resolve on magic affinity or weapons like Moonveil, Meteor Ore Blade, Carion straight sword?
- Anonymous
"You can acquire this set without getting the +8 weapon" why would someone want that?
- Anonymous
Does this buff the Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword? The weapon has magic damage but I'm not sure if the weapons skill hits for magic damage
Spellblade set's bonus damage to magic AOW stacks ADDITIVELY, so its 2% if 1 piece, 4% if 2 pieces, 6% if 3 pieces and 8% if 4 pieces are equipped. Rakshasa set, on the other hand, stacks MULTIPLICATIVELY, 2% if 1 piece up to 8.243216% at 4 pieces. Of course the difference is very small, but if someone tests both they are going to see that spellblade deals slightly less damage.

Does this work for the claws of night or does it even do magic damage with the scatter shot throw?
- Anonymous
from 1012 dmg (without set) to 1240 dmg tested on Cleanrot Knights with the set on.
makes you almost one shot or two shot depending on the enemy but if that is worth it for you go ahead, pretty hard to use late game imo.
can also easily make you light roll, but again has some of the worst stats in the entire game when it comes to defense of any kind.

For some reason, the boost this set gives is working for any magic damage dealt by a weapon during an ash of war
This includes using Scholar's Armament on a weapon and using its damage dealing Ash of War
Tested with a Keen Milady with the Wing Stance Ash of War that has Scholar's Armament cast on it
May need further testing, but adding this to this page or, alternatively, making it more clear if the current description was writing with this knowledge in mind

Weird, when he died for me he dropped his armour set and his rapier, I might not have known he was there for the reward though lol
- Anonymous
With the new DLC weapons and Ash of Wars, what does this affect?
- Anonymous
Do you need the full gearset equipped to get the weapon art damage boost for Wing of Astel?

Might want to wear the physical boosting ring to boost those low defenses.
I actually like the look of this armor. It's a goofy Wizard colors.

I hate the green/yellow mixing. I hate how this boosts all ashes of war related to magic. I hate you. I hate me. I hate everything (except dogs and cats)
- Anonymous
I dont use it at all because fashion over any stats any day

You use spellblade for moonviel. I use it for Death Poker. We are not the same
- Anonymous
You use the spellblade set for the Moonveil. I use it to increase Dark Moon Blade's ash of war/skill.
We are not the same.
- Anonymous
I use this set for my glinstone witch build and use lions claw on a magic infused celebrant's skull GH, this set buffs any aow that can deal magic damage and that includes lions claw if you weapon is magic/cold infused

kinda ssad the only ones who flex this are moonveil sweatlords

Does this affect the AoW of weapons like Helphen's Steeple or Death's Poker?

I refuse to wear any of this I don't care if I'm x% weaker because of it, swear to god FromSoft gave the ugliest armor stat boosts on purpose.

Really wish FROM would correctly label equipment instead of relying on the billion dataminers that tear these games apart within days of them releasing to clarify how things work.

Does not work with the ash of war Waves of Darkness. Does the same damage with the set as without it. A little dissapointing because the ash does scale with magic and deals magic damage.

The hat would be literally flawless if it wasn't for that stupid ****ing piece of cloth coveting your entire head and hiding the hair

Also buffs AoW of weapons enchanted by scholar's armament (only the magic damage part)

Full spell blade set + shard of Alexander and magic scorpion charm + moonveil = OP weeb

Wish there was a faith build equivalent for this. I played a spellblade on my first playthrough and complained about all the faith scaling weapons but now on my pyromancer build I'm realizing that faith builds don't really have anything that boosts their abilities like int or arc builds do...
- Anonymous
tested with darkmoon blade, it does boost the damage of the R2 beam
- Anonymous
For anyone looking to use this in PvP, just go for the gloves and hat unless you really want to run a lightroll build. Trying to go for 3 or more pieces will make it impossible to hit poise breakpoints and your absorptions will suffer as well.

An 8% bonus to a limited set of weapon arts for wearing all 4 pieces of this not-great set? That's a bit damn weaksauce! You'd think it'd be at least 10% or 12.5%, and even then I'd still consider it weak.

If this set wasn't so goddamn ugly I'd actually wear it. But like it is I rather pass on the damage boost and wear smth that looks good.
- Anonymous
does this affect the dark moon greatsword? I've fallen in love with it and I want to love it even more
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I'm assuming the buff only applies to the magic damage-part of skills with more than one damage type (Like Eochaid's Dancing Blade)?
- Anonymous
Can anyone confirm if this boosts all magic damage? Like would it boost sorcery damage or is it only ashe of war magic damage that is being boosted?
- Anonymous
Basically the FromSoft equivalent of a Final Fantasy Red Mage and I love it.
- Anonymous
This works with moonveil katana, tested it out, it's so nice.

Does the set improve the damage of Star Caller Cry and Wave of Darkness AOW?
- Anonymous
Is it possible to obtain this armor without getting the +8 weapon?
- Anonymous
I really wish this outfit had better defenses. It's a shame because I love it's design but it's surprisingly more squishy than the Astrologer set off the starting mage class.
:-/

this affects lifesteal fist ash of war, combine with scholars armament and various magic buffs for some truly nutty damage (upwards of 3.1k on a proper build)
- Anonymous
Does anyone know if this set boosts damage for the slash part of chilling mist?
- Anonymous
Does not improve the damage of Waves of Darkness. I have no idea why
- Anonymous
For my fellow unga bunga mages, this set can now boost watchdog staff. FS finally fixed skill buffs on this weapon, so you can use this set with alexander/jar shard for extra damage.
- Anonymous
This also adds damage to the moonlight greatsword doesn't it?
- Anonymous
Would this set effect the damage of spinning weapon on carian regal scepter as it deals magic damage?
- Anonymous
Rogier's set has significantly higher poise than before after patch v1.07
- Anonymous
8% more damage and you'll look like a troll
sounds like you just got yourself a deal
- Anonymous
Wearing Ranni's hat with this set would make for an overall great frost build! 8% to ashes of war and 10% to sorceries

My current fit in game is this hat, gloves, and with the Black Knife Armor and Greaves. The turquoise accents in each match really well for a sneaky Death Poker dex/int sorceress.
Does not impact the Sorcery of the Crozier, despite it doing 100% magic damage. Perhaps the Weapon Art needs to also have some kind of INT scaling (hidden or visible) in order for this armor to effect it
Clayman's Magic Harpoon +18 was used for test.
Glintstone Pebble
759 + 1015 = 1774 with Spellblade Set on
702 + 0953 = 1655 with Spellblade Set off
8.1% on pebble part, 6.5% on lunging thrust
7.2% increase overall
Glintblade Phalanx
660 + 743 = 1403 with Spellblade set on
612 + 701 = 1313 with Spellblade set off
7.8% on Glintblade hit, 6% on lunging thrust
6.85% increase overall
Loretta's Slash
274 + 792 = 1066 with Spellblade Set on
255 + 700 = 0955 with Spellblade Set off
7.45% on 1st hit, 13.1% on 2nd hit
11.6% increase overall

Does this boost the effects of the septer of the all knowing?
- Anonymous
If it's 2% each for magic and frost wouldn't that be 16% buff to Death's Poker skill, Ghostflame Ignition? If so, that's pretty op.
Why is this set called Spellblade if Rogier was a fencer and his sword has no blades?
- Anonymous
Does this set boost the Ash of War from Marais Executioners Sword ?
- Anonymous
They need to buff the TERRIBLE defense, then this set will be top tier
- Anonymous
what about the Moonveil, Transient moonlight? does it buff it? how much 2% each piece, 10% all set?
- Anonymous
Buffs Clinging Bone's lifesteal fist
Probably due to it being magic damage innately and there's no way to get magic damage otherwise on a lifesteal weapon. Pretty neat.
- Anonymous
Both Wing of Astel and Bastard's Stars see Nebula buffed when using Spellblade pieces.

Sadly does not buff the Watchdog's staff skill Sorcery of the Crozier, despite it being affected by the Magic-Shrouding Cracked Tear which boosts magic attacks.
- Anonymous
Can someone confirm whether or not the granted bonus to magic skills applies to eochad’s dancing blade? The weapon does magic damage after all

Yeah. Nope. I am not going to dress like a clown. Fack this set.
- Anonymous
I got the rapier from Rogier, then during endgame after he went to sleep, at some point he died and I got his gear and bell. That was the only mission of his I completed.
- Anonymous
At least as far as I can tell, wearing this set with Azur's Glintstone Crown would be the most powerful armor set, buff for Glintstone Sorceries, correct?
- Anonymous
The Glintstone Pebble skill went from 425 to 459. That's exactly 8%, as the wiki states.
However, the strong attack lunge follow-up on the Glintstone Pebble skill went from 564 to 595. That's a 5.5% damage increase.

Death’s Poker with this set, magic scorpion charm, shard of Alexander, ritual sword talisman. The flame trail alone I’ve got hitting for over 10k. Thank me later.
- Anonymous
If you've ruined Rogier's mission, you can't get the bell's ring and dress and weapon.
I did the same, but I found a solution.
Rogier on the balcony of the large room of the Roundtable Hold. If you jump in there, you have to fight an invasion.
If you've already done it, it's good if you haven't already. :)
Then, from below, I shot the bottom of the balcony where Rogier was sitting with the Cannon of Haima spell. (I think any territorial spell or ability will work here.)
Then I went back upstairs and was able to get his gear.

Does this work with Sword of Night and Flame's L2 R1? It's technically magic lol.
- Anonymous
I assume it boosts any skill that does Magic damage.
It works with Gravitas and Starcaller Cry.
- Anonymous
can confirm each piece does increase the damage of Moonblade R2 skill. Im so hyped
- Anonymous
My game crashes when µI equip this. Verifying cache does nothing.
- Anonymous
Works on the Glintstone Kris ash of war, the pebble, dart, and the lunging thrust.
- Anonymous
interestingly if you use the horn bow with magic arrows it will increase the weapon art dmg of them, for example mighty shot
- Anonymous
At the top it says " All pieces boost effectiveness of Glintstone sorcery." but that's not the case, so why is it there?
- Anonymous
Each set piece adds 2% dmg, so the math is: Magical Weapon Art skill * (1 + 2% + 2% + 2% + 2%). Magical Weapon Art Skill also means it increases Moonveil Weapon Art as well as Hoarfrost Stomp (magic) Weapon Art
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Can confirm this boosts the R1 special skill for the SoNaF. Does not do anything for the R2 flame skill that scales off of faith.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Each piece looks to be about 1% increase. Confirmed it does work on Moonveil art.
Testing:
0 piece : 669
1 piece : 682
2 piece : 696
3 piece : 709
4 piece : 721

So, anything that says "skill" refer to ashes of war, afaik. Tested the Carian Filigreed Crest that said skills on its description, and it actually doesnt lower fp consumed by my glintstone pebble, only my ashes of war skills.
Only boost ashes of war magical skills, doesn't boost sorcery spells.
