Where to find Briar Set in Elden Ring
Purchased from the Enia in Roundtable Hold after defeating Elemer of the Briar in The Shaded Castle.

Briar Set Elden Ring Notes and Tips
- The Briar Armor can be altered to the Briar Armor (Altered) to remove the cape.
Inflicts damage when dodge rolling into enemies. More damage per armor piece worn
- This makes any part of Briar Set useful while exploring locations with undead skeletons.
- The effect also applies with Quickstep and Bloodhound's Step.
- Poise updated to patch 1.07. See Patch Notes for details.

Elemer may be a merchant murdering madman but he does have impeccable fashion sense

The aimpunch set, truly Elmer was the most evil man of his time to knowingly abuse such things.

Why does this armor set not have good poise? Elemer poises through a heavy jump attack with a colossal weapon, and he wears the same armor.

Idk why everyone hates the thorns, they tell a neat little story.
They are also the only reason that rolling with this would deal dmg
- Anonymous
Lower poise than the Knight Set which you can buy in the first 20 min of the game. I get the added bonus of the roll damage but still, 51 should be the bare minimum for sets of this tier.

This is a really cool looking armor set…love the jacked up mask

FromSoftware: proceeds to add a altered armors system.
Fromsoftware too: only adds cape alteration and skip adding restored version for rusty sets and additional variations.

Be careful wearing this set if you're trying to avoid wildlife conflict with the beast repellent torch. That is why I was running around those basilisks naked, officer. I swear!

Fun fact: with the giant cusher R2 or lion's claw this armor will slightly stagger enemies for tiny damage during the first part of the animation when next to them.

Those of you on PC, if you don't like the barbed wire but like the rest of the set theres a super simple mod to remove it from the armour and the sword on nexus. Looks incredible without it imo.
Not sure if you guys are aware for Elden Fextra, but comments are producing errors and you cannot submit them when responding to comments – claims they are empty. I’m also getting JS script error popups.
Neat little interaction: wearing a piece of this armour set will remove your ability to break objects by jumping in no-combat areas like Roundtree.
I discovered this when I tried jumping on the candlestand going to the twin husks shop, and ended up on TOP of the stand rather than breaking it. To my surprise, you can even leave a message there! Further testing around the area found I could not jump to break tables, armour stands, or chairs with the Briar armour on, but rolling into them still works. Wonder if that's intended, or it'll be fixed down the line.

The helmet is inspired by "Monkey Christ" - a painting "renovated" by some random old lady in Spain

Hitting enemies with the roll counts as a hit for the rune of Malenia, effectively giving you health back with each roll-hit
i like wearing one piece of this set so i can roll past most enemies and have them jerk their entire bodies for 1 damage.

Y,know as much as i hate bell bearing hunters with a passion, they have very dripped up armor.

Can you kill NPCs in safe zones like the Roundtable with this on?
- Anonymous
Bumping into enemies with this counts as a weak attack and enemies that deflect weak attacks like Crystallians will cause you to stagger. This can lead to you getting stunlocked if you get too close to an enemy like that until their combo finishes, because they keep moving in to you which keeps triggering your stagger animation.
This works with quickstep and bloodhound step for some ungodly reason.

With morgotts great sword the initial rush that you do before the bloodflame slash will stagger enemies with this set effectively allowing you to get the slash off almost like adding some hyper armor to the attack pretty interesting

If youre having trouble with the blood alburnac’s in mowhgs palace, putting one piece of this set on allows you to interrupt their summersault attack by just rolling into them!

The altered chest piece has such a nice skirtline, shame the shoulders are so bulky it makes my character look like she could throw a bowling ball into orbit

I just wish the barbed wire actually fit the outfit and didn't clip so badly with the pieces- I love the look(and I wish the altered version allowed you to remove the wire), but the wire has a cool theme to it- but its just so bad with clipping, even with its own pieces, that I cant wear it without being bothered by it.

Does Raptor of the Mists gain free damage if you activate it while wearing this? I could imagine being able to avoid taking damage, damaging and staggering a foe, while falling into a jumping attack could be a bit obnoxious.
- Anonymous
Holy sh*t this set is really good especially combined with specific weapon skills like lions claw because you stagger enemies before they hit and interrupt you so you have more chance of landing a hit, very epic fromsoft!

It's weird that people complain about the things that make the set so unique and cool looking. Definitely my favorite armor in the game.

This set would look insanely cool if it didn't have the barbed wire.

They ****ed up the stats on the set, it does not have 600 poise, like the boss.
- Anonymous
I'm gonna say it: This is one of my aesthetically favorite sets in the game.
- Anonymous
Does anyone know how much poise damage the set takes? As well as how much poise damage it deals with only one equipped? Or two etc?
Just curious because I know it staggers enemies with weak poise like zombies for PVE it for players if you're running super light armor for whatever reason, it could stagger you similar to a throwing knife. Just curious since I only wear one piece and didn't know if there was a way to determine the poise damage.
- Anonymous
Wearing any piece of this set prevents you from destroying destructible decor such as crates or chairs when you jump into them, however rolling will still cause them to break.

Looks nice with the black hood or the Skeletal Mask. The confessor hood kinda works too but the color is just slightly off.

this armor + Eitehr quick step or bloodhound step is pretty fun

this armour can proc bleed on enemies provided you're using a weapon that builds the status up. found this out while fighting malenia with bloodhounds fang, and while rolling towards her trying to avoid attacks i procced a bleed effect on occasion. haven't tested this in pvp yet, and i don't think that you could build a full bleed up from fully rolling but if you're using a bleed weapon it is enough to push some people over the edge at times. don't need a full set, just one piece of armour will do.
also great for dealing with any undead enemies. just roll over the bodies before they revive and they die. just be careful around NPC's as I did accidentally kill an injured npc while trying to progress their questline.
- Anonymous
I figured out a handy tip. What its great for is killing the skeleton enemies when they're on the ground. You just kill them, then roll through their dead body to finish them without them getting back up. Easy peasy. All you need is one piece of the armor for it to work, so you can just have like the gloves or legs only etc.
- Anonymous
Be very careful near friendly NPC's in this set. The rolling attack is disabled in non-attack areas for obvious reasons, but it will one-shot any NPC that can't fight back if attacked otherwise. Example: Rolling into Alexander will just act as an attack and piss him off, but rolling into someone like Sage Gowry will instantly kill them. Backstepping doesn't count, though, as it doesn't deal any damage normally. Careful with that B / O button, friends.

Do yourself a favor and don't roll into shield enemies with this, you will trigger their counter attack when rolling into them.

I wish the hat was pointier but this is still the best choice for a Penitent One cosplay.

Do NOT wear any of this armour, working as it does as the Thorns armour in DaS3 it deals damage upon rolling around your opponent, damage that can be used by them to trigger a guard counter by blocking...

I got this for my lvl 20 twink invasions in stormveil.
4 pieces at lvl 20 do 21 damage per roll. Not much, but at low levels 10 rolls against 1host+2cooperators will make at least one of them step back and heal. Much needed respite when against the odds

just by wearing a single piece in mi case gauntlets it staggers most of the mobs pretty usefull especially for fast annoying mobs or packs

Has anyone tried this with the goat roll ash of war? Does it add to the damage?

Makes bloodhound step deal damage if you bump into an enemy.

Best part about this set that noone is talking about is how it also makes rolling deal stance damage and can stance break enemies.

If you roll into something capable of deflecting attacks (Miners, Crystalians, shields, etc), and you have a weapon you lack the stats to wield in one hand in your right hand, you'll deflect off them and cancel your roll. Even if you have the necessary strength while two-handing, you'll still deflect.

Anyone know if there's a way to buff the damage output, and does the damage done by this armor affect the stagger gauge?
- Anonymous
This is just annoy enemy is pvp, some people get nervous because o "damage" and start doing mistakes
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
does the stagger strength also depend on how many pieces you wear like the damage does?
- Anonymous
Really wish you could remove the barbwire on the armour visually, it would look amazing otherwise.

I'd been looking for something that gave me the same dirty vagabond/wanderer feel the Alva set did the entire game (and also didn't break my carry weight budget....rip Blaidd's set) and finally discovered this gem. It fits perfectly in the weight range I was looking for and has just the right color scheme for most of the str weapons I enjoy (plus you get a sweet cape). The thorns are odd at first but they grow on you and honestly the roll damage is way more useful than I gave it credit for at first.
If I had one complaint about this set it would be that the helmet is hideous....broken faceplate that looks like it got smashed in something and it just kinda stands out like a sore thumb. Thankfully though this game has a ton of masks, hoods, headbands, and the like that fit perfectly with the rest of the look and eliminate the issue entirely. Just pick what works best for you and enjoy.

best part of using at least 1 piece of this set is you can now break the skulls with runes in em if you for example using a slow weapon that might be awkward to hit em with and don;t feel like mounting then dismounting to just break a skull

Been useful for fist weapons so far, the small roll damage has a chance to make enemies flinch and you gotta get real close for fist builds.

You can buy this entire set from Enia at Roundtable Hold after Slaying Elemer in The Shaded Castle
Why would you want to alter this armor?? Y'all are so petty lol.
