Great Club is a Colossal Weapon in Elden Ring. The Great Club scales primarily with Strength and is a good Weapon for dealing Physical Damage. The skill attached to this weapon also has a unique ability that unleashes a blast of energy and releases them as golden darts.
An enormous club of hardwood. Wildly hammering foes with this
striking weapon requires no dexterity; only brute force.
While it may seem sacrilegious, this weapon is said to be a withered branch of the Erdtree.
Imbued with holy power, this weapon will never snap.

if you cast black flame then use the art, it will do damage over time. it may be the same for bloodflame causing bleed for each hit of the weapon art.
- Anonymous
has the highest poise damage on an r2 in the game, fun fact.
- Anonymous
Drippy af, but slightly worse than most colossals. Best on a str/fai to get better damage out of golden land.

To me it seems like this weapon was unfinished, since its physical damage lines up with similar weapons like the troll hammer, but lacks any kind of split damage secondary scaling (was likely intended to be holy split damage with faith scaling).
- Anonymous
Why does a great club have less damage than a curved great club , is that a joke?
- Anonymous
great PvE weapon. the charged R2 attacks melt through boss poise, plus it can be enchanted to fit a faith or int build.

S tier for fashion, negative one billion for usefulness. It’s fun and I like it on str-fth prophet cosplay. It’s one of those weapons that’s so bad you are better off not even bothering with strength investment and instead going for spells and spell weapon buffs. It’s not particularly good with Orders Blade but that’s what looks coolest to me and the ash makes space for heals, discus of light and buffs.

chicken leg lives, and can be given weapon buffs for all sorts of fun flavors

why is it a regular smithing stone weapon if it cant take ashes of war

alright, while this unique heavy attack is sick as hell, I was hoping we could have the smelter hammer spin.

Even though you use regular smithing stones with a non-changeable Afinity & Ash of War, even though your Ash of War isn't exclusive to just you, even though you have the lowest AR out of all Colossal Weapons, and even though your tied with the Prelate's & Crusher for the 3rd shortest Colossal Weapon,
I will proudly love you; for you carried me through Dark Souls 3

Why'd they drop my child all these years to not have A str scaling boooohooooohoooooo i have to drop down to his little brother to get my club fix

I honestly love the great club's look, especially for a STR/FAI druid build
- Anonymous
So how exactly does Golden Land scale on this? Just with weapon upgrades, or does it somehow magically scale with Strength as well?
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
If you’re faith just use large club or curved great club with the same weapon art. Golden land will one shot most players if you’re at 50 fth on sacred infusion. If you’re pure strength just us large club with war cry. This weapon doesn’t have good strength nor faith scaling so it’s useless. I’m gonna look into whether this weapon has any merit when used at 13 int 50 fth, 35 str with Orders Blade buff and regen. Icon shield might be a cool aesthetic too
- Anonymous
So, apparently the charged r2 on this thing has the highest poise damage in the game, capable of stance breaking godfrey in 2 hits with the stonebarb cracked tear
- Anonymous
Regular bonk not work good enough? Grug recommend BIGGER bonk.
- Anonymous
Honestly I found it to just be an above average club, still fun though.
- Anonymous
I always find great club design to be funny. They make this huuge club of hardwood but tiny little handle so they dont have to animate new hand position to hold it.

If you are running a Strength Build or can equip items to use this use the Ash of war to farm the Bird in Moghwyn Palace, best method to hit the bird far better than a bow

Can I upgrade my greatclub with the cold affinity despite that we can't change the ash of war?
- Anonymous
um, if it would never snap, then why did it break off in the first place?
- Anonymous
whhy they changed it from the ds3 move set? i missed the horizontal swings in the prev game. absolute beast. all colossals now play the same with the crappy overhead swing besides UGS which has the crouch poke lmao
The projectile damage is pathetic but people always spam roll regardless, so...

The Bonk, the Large Bonk, and the Great Bonk! Praise the BONK!
- Anonymous
I tried this out on the guardians in caelid earlier because they have a decent health pool. I don't know if it would be any better against undead enemies. pathetic would be an accurate description for the damage the weapon art projectiles do, the initial explosion has stagger to it, but its hard to judge how effective it is with the tree guardians, they don't have high poise in the first place. at 50 FTH and with all projectiles hitting a single target locked enemy the TOTAL damage to its health pool was a whopping 56, that's not a typo, total damage from all projectiles hitting one enemy was fifty six. compare that to reduvia's weapon art, available to the player very early in limgrave.

For anyone who has used great club in the past I believe there is no reason to dislike this version. First off the damage may not be up there with the other heavy hitters but it still hits hard enough. You can’t change ash of war but honestly after some time using it in pvp I noticed it’s good for catching people in the aoe then chasing with running r2 for roll catch while they panic roll for the projectiles. Also can’t get past how sexy this hunk of wood is. Fellow great club bonk bros don’t lose hope! Praise the holy club!
- Anonymous
You can buff this. And the Golden Land AoW will retain any statuses you buffed the weapon with. Bled the secluded cell troll with two casts when using blooodflame blade.
- Anonymous
Well, well... I just looked into the game parameters out of curiosity and it actually has entries for the infused versions. Usually unique weapons only have one entry for their standard. That explains the upgrade table on this page. But they checked an option called "prevent affinity change". I hope they just did it accidentally, because why would they do all the effort to write fully functional entries (which have a lot of fields to put values into) for every affinity and then just be like "nah, the standard is good enough".

Grug smash with big log. When in danger, grug channel spiritual power of great holy log in sky for more ungabunga

This weapon CANNOT be infused with ashes of war. No clue where that table came from.
- Anonymous
For anyone wondering about the discrepancy in the wiki description, this weapon CANNOT be infused with ashes of war. Such a shame.
- Anonymous
It may have been a bug that this can't be infused. It is upgraded through smithing stones not somber. Seeing as the weapon art is an ash of war you can add to other weapons it's not very unique. The issue with this weapon comes from the damage. Since it isn't a somber weapon it doesn't gain the same large amounts of damage that those weapons get. It has a B in str when fully upgraded, which should really be A because if you compare to weapons with similar damage and weight, they outshine this clubs damage when infused. If this weapon could get infused with heavy it would be comparable.
Golden Land? More like Golden Tickle. Damage is comically low. Looks cool though.
You can't place any Ashes of War for this weapon. I find the default/only Ash of War to be pretty trivial. I am going to use Large Club for my Harley Quinn build.

"This weapon can't be infused with Ashes of War."
"The Great Club can be infused with Ashes of War. Click below for a list of all possible Ashes of War that can be applied to the colossal weapon."
reminder that this website offers a $100 membership lol
They did this weapon so dirty. If they were intent on making it some Holy type thing with its gden land art, they should've at least given it holy damage too or extra physical from faith scaling, maybe B or at least C scaling in faith. Like cmon large club is now better in every way.
Uhhh... just deleted the fake tables because this is a unique weapon that is unable to be infused and now they're back?
- Anonymous
Im confused the wiki says it cant be infused with an ash of war, then it says it can a few lines down. Can it be infused?
At +24 and 80 str 2 handed:
Great Club (can't infuse) - 749 AR
Large Club Heavy infused - 708 AR
Curved Great Club (heavy) - 719 AR
Why would you ever use the great club (a colossal weapon) over the other two which are just great hammers? Especially if dual-wielding them is an option? Why can't you infuse this great club? This weapon is just another example of someone at From Soft being limited to velcro shoes if you catch my drift. Terrible.
- Anonymous
started from ds1 with great club, finished elden ring with great club
stay loyal to great club even its kinda bad here
- Anonymous
the ash of war scales with faith, tested on a leyndell soldier and with the faith talisman it did five more damage per laser
- Anonymous
Damn, they crucified this thing huh? What are the great club bros using now, does this still have the ds3 heavy attack?
- Anonymous
i think this has the highest poise dmg in the game, 2 handing it and doing charged r2s deal 47 poise dmg, which will poise break most bosses in 2 hits. i just tested that with cheat engine.

- Anonymous
Great Club sucks now, but Great Stars is a nice Greathammer alternative. Use the Inferno Crozier if you want a Colossal Weapon.
- Anonymous
You CANNOT infuse the weapon into something else (Heavy, Sacred, etc.). I checked myself.
- Anonymous
I’m confused. Why does this upgrade with normal stones, with no split scaling, yet it can’t be infused? I’d get it if golden land were unique for the great club but you can slap that on anything you want. It seems like it was an oversight. I do love the R2s though and I will keep using it because I’ve used the great club since DS1… but they did it dirty on here.
- Anonymous
Well someone got rid of the incorrect table, BUT now it says you upgrade it with Somber stones. That is also wrong. It uses normal Smithing Strobe AND it cannot be infused.
- Anonymous
They massacred me big bonk stick, but its not all bad. You can still buff it with weapon buffs and greases, plus, Golden Land takes into account what you buffed the weapon with. I’ve tested this with Black Flame blade and Bloodflame blade and both of their effects work on both the weapon itself and the AoW.
To be honest, Golden Land is actually pretty good, the club is not…
Also, can someone fix the upgrade table? This weapon is locked to Golden Land and can’t have anything else equipped.
- Anonymous
This weapon seems to get a bad rap, but I'm a clubber through and through so I wanted to give it a try. Here are my initial thoughts:
Heavy attacks with this weapon feel GREAT. Tons of hyperarmor and the amount of poise damage you deal is kind of absurd. I really like the unique animation as well, it's like you're trying to squish your opponent with the tip of the club.
Not being able to swap out the weapon art kinda sucks, but Golden Land is pretty decent. The only thing I would swap it out for if I could would be quick step, but infusing a caestus for my off-hand or something would probably work just as well. Not really a huge loss imho.
The biggest drawback to me is the B scaling. This essentially punishes you for playing a hybrid build, even though the weapon art scaling off of faith seems like it's trying to incentivise a fai/str build? Kind of a confused design choice imo.
As someone who's running a pure strength build, the only thing I can see myself swapping this out for is the giant crusher. Even then, I probably won't. I just like it a lot. Definitely not for everyone though.

if this cant be infused then where the hell did the upgrade table come from???
- Anonymous
It feels like the only reason this cannot be infused is because of the description saying it's a branch of the erdtree, and instead of making it a strength/faith weapon they just locked it's skill and called it a day.
- Anonymous
Just maxed this out. Gains poise during the initial slam and wind up I believe [strong follow-up]. Not sure if the weapon art scales with str or fth. Feels good buffing it with holy incantation and other buffs
- Anonymous
Such a disappointing weapon: Great Club was often my go-to Str. weapon (A little heavier and more damaging than the Large Club).
Compared to the Large Club, it is over twice the weight, much slower to swing, cannot be buffed and has a skill that cannot be swapped out. It's not a horrible skill but it doesn't really alleviate any of the Great Club's weaknesses. In exchange you get a little more damage and stagger.
Really not worth weighing yourself down with how heavy this thing is.
- Anonymous
Seems like many people are confusing this with the large club. The large club CAN be infused - the great club is a useless piece of crap that cant be infused, has bad scaling and an ability that already exists as an ash of war you can find and put on other way better weapons
- Anonymous
They took the most chad weapon in history of Souls game and turned it into a magic stick.
- Anonymous
Can this or can this not get ashes of war. People saying they have it upgraded to have it and the page also goes against its self saying no then having scaling for +25 with occult and bleed.

How did you get the chart if you cannot use Ashes on this weapon?
- Anonymous
I don't know if this got buffed, but with 25 str and 20 faith, the weapon at +24 does 1,1k with the initial hit and 500 per projectile.

Does the weapon art scale with faith? Using it on a strength character but trying to figure out if i want to pick it up on my faith build.

Gigachad weapon of choice. All you crybabies wanking about the damage output don't appreciate a great weapon when you see one. I'll bonk your asses into oblivion if i come across you summoning plebs. Too bad the SoNaF got nerfed huh, it won't save you this time Johnny887!

Can somebody test the damage for this weapon, it might have recieved a buff since patch

In Dark Souls 1 I loved to One Shot with my Crystal Great Club, in Dark Souls 2 I used to combine this and large club for massive damage, in Dark Soul 3 I didn't like it to much. Now this is disapointing... I suppose I will use large.
- Anonymous
Since Ashes of War cannot be applied to this weapon, how does upgrade data exist for different affinities?

I would use this weapon it was buffed with some better scaling/ashes of war. Right now it kinda sucks though the weapon art is kinda cool.

i waited so long to get this and it was so disappointing. they ruined it.

The Great Club has less damage at +19 than my Heavy Large Club.
A colossal weapon has less damage... Than a basic warhammer.

You can actually buff this weapon despite not being able to apply ashes of war strangely enough.

They massacred my boy. Why on Earth is the Golden Land skill on this by default. Move set sucks, and can't be infused differently
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
So I finally got it.. And the moveset sucksssss. The weapon art, super cool, but almost every swing is straight ahead with lots of recovery time. A slow weapon like this needs more wide swings to deal with groups.

I am curious as to why the Golden Land skill damage increases with every additional point of faith for this weapon. It says that the weapon only scales with strength.
