Great Club is a Colossal Weapon in Elden Ring. The Great Club scales primarily with Strength and Faith, making it a good Weapon for dealing Physical and Holy Damage. The skill attached to this weapon also has a unique ability that unleashes a blast of energy and releases them as golden darts.
An enormous club of hardwood. Wildly hammering foes with this
striking weapon requires no dexterity; only brute force.
While it may seem sacrilegious, this weapon is said to be a withered branch of the Erdtree.
Imbued with holy power, this weapon will never snap.
Where to Find Great Club in Elden Ring
The Great Club weapon can be found at the following location:

The most nasty and OP weapon in the whole game. Pure nectar for str/fth boys

quickest way to send gankers to the shadow realm: a well placed charged R2

Easiest play through ever, don’t even need wonky infusions or L2, just two hand and jump attack all the way to Elden lord.

Hilarious that the iconic Great Club, which has been a byword for "mindless, crude brute force weapon" throughout the Souls games, is now a unique, sacred weapon with a powerful special ability, just because of the type of wood it was made from.
- Anonymous
after a bit of testing, i see no evidence whatsoever that the projectiles are affected by buffing the weapon. still a wonderful weapon though.
- Anonymous
Bruh, pop a blood flame blade on this big boy and watch that ganja burn lmao
- Anonymous
with the exception of ff seal and serpent hunter, this seems to be the only weapon with an innate (no aow equipped) scaling that it has no requirement for. obviously this is due to the post-launch addition of the faith scaling.
- Anonymous
It’s funny I tried making this thing work with Orders Blade even before this update. Always fantasized it should’ve been like Treespear :) It still loses trades to epee on the ~54/45 build this is optimal for… but this weapon with clawmark seal is the king of mixups and spell combos. Guranqs stone combos into r1 and catch flame often catches people off guard into wrath of gold or r1 roll catch. On prophet armor, the one handed r2 can poise great swords fully charged and it charges up fast. And you can chug/buff/erdtree heal under the protection of the L2. Strong synergy with holy ground in duels.
- Anonymous
Started using this after 1.09 and it’s incredible. Let me just note first of all, the charged 2h heavy combo is one of the quickest amongst larger weapons because of its unique animation, which lets you poise break rather easily, and the weapon art is absolutely fantastic. Great all around weapon, deadly close range with the capability to shoot tracking star missiles from afar that do good damage. Weapon art has three stages, you can get a hit slamming the weapon down, it does a burst of holy damage around your character, AND you can combo into a unique heavy slash, AND THEN THE STARS COMR OUT dayuuuum
Great Club + Order's Blade = Good. Like, REALLY good. My Great Club at level 137 can reach 1127 AR and can even go as high as 1555 AR with Golden Vow, Exalted Flesh, and the Holy Cracked Tear. Patch 1.09 made this one of the best Colossal Weapons in the game.

Alright I’m confused. If you can’t change the ash of war, how can you change the affinity? Am I missing something in the game? Every other smithing weapon like this is locked to standard. No? Lol. This was asked a few comments ago. Any wisdom?
- Anonymous
This weapon cannot be infused, therefore you should just have the standard version of the weapon listed. It is not possible to have a Cold infusion - for instance - when you cannot change the ash of war. The upgrade table is quite misleading as it is.
Hope this helps anyone who might have been confused.
- Anonymous
You cannot infuse this weapon, despite what the table above shows. Hope this solves any confusion.
- Anonymous
Just killed Stonedigger Troll in Old Altus Tunnel and received the Great Club on patch 1.09
- Anonymous
what really sucks about this weapon now is that any infusion other than flame art or sacred completely takes away its faith scaling, making standard the only really good option for a str/fth build
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Now one of the best colossals. not only does it have a superior R2, but you can take advantage of its holy damage and buff it to high hell with all the appropriate stuff + greases and enchantments.
- Anonymous
The drop from boss Stonedigger Troll is Troll's Hammer after patch 1.09. But I did not find Great Club in Old Altus Tunnel.
- Anonymous
why does the table say its ash cannot be switches, but then shows the table for its upgrades with diferent affinitys?

PLEASE TELL US WHERE IS GREAT CLUB NEW LOCATION. IT IS NO MORE IN OLD ALTUS TUNNEL AFTER PATCH 1.09.

As of 1.09, now deals Holy damage in addition to Physical. As a consequence, it now scales slightly with Faith (E/D) Starts at E, switches to D at upgrade level 7. However, the Faith scaling component is a joke -- youll still want to give overwhelming priority to Strength.
To provide an example, a +25 Great Club as of Patch 1.09 deals 789 Physical and 116 Holy (combined total: 905) at 80 Str / 8 Faith. Raising Faith to 80, the holy damage goes up to 149, raising total AP to 939. That's a +34 attack power gain for the sake of a 72-point investment in Faith, or more relatively speaking, a 3.75% damage increase, before defense or negation.
Now, the quesiton is, does the Weapon Skill, Golden Land, now scale with Faith? It didn't before the patch, and the patch notes don't mention it doing so. If the answer is no, then the Faith investment in this weapon is a joke and should only be considered if you're trying to min-max every ounce of extra AP out of it.

they buffed this weapon today so me and my bunga build are about to clonk some heads.

investing faith for golden land's a little more viable now :) still better to use with infused sacred weapons obviously but at least benefits are easier to get alongside its funny R2 now
- Anonymous
1.13 patch made this so much better. It was already uninfusable so the Faith scaling and holy damage is just a bonus and makes it feel much more cohesive of a weapon. And despite the added holy damage, you can still buff. Loving this patch. Overleveled 80 str/fth hits 991 AR two handed no buffs.

FINALLY, FAITH SCALING AND HOLY DAMAGE. (Too bad alot of end game bosses are resistant to it. But this things stupid poise damage makes up for it.)

And now even more powerful with +112 Holy damages. Perfect weapon against those death rite birds.

[After 1.0.9] Finally, this weapon makes sense.
Having a non-interachangable Ash of War that scales only off Faith on a weapon that scales only off Strength was odd, to say the least.

Just got buffed with innate holy damage+ Fth scaling. AND it can be buffed by holy grease... so maybe we have another weapon that will make Orders Blade viable, just like Tree spear?

New patch added holy damage and faith scaling.
It's time to test this beauty.
- Anonymous
No, it's not very good - it has low damage among colossal weapons and isn't even the lightest one. But my goodness is it beautiful in a way the weapon icon really doesn't do justice to. You won't appreciate it if you only see it in your inventory or when you're looking at all the weapons you put away and never tried in the roundtable hold, but it really is beautiful in a way I can't explain besides the fact that it's actually covered in golden leaves. It's just a beautiful piece of wood. And that's the story of how a below-average colossal weapon became the signature weapon of my paladin (that, and it's one of sadly few weapons in this game to have unique r2s).
- Anonymous
They should have given it prayerful strike instead, it would make way more sense scaling wise and actually be useful
- Anonymous
i think the optimal way to use this is just spam the heavy attack. its faster than most other colossal heavy attacks and does massive poise damage
- Anonymous
They could have given it literally any physical ash in the game, but no, they gave a pure phys weapon a faith scaling ash
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
So, using bloodflame blade on this both looks incredibly cool and is extremely thematically appropriate, and also it makes Golden Land proc bleed, which is excellent as it's a multi-hit skill.
Highly, highly tempted to make this my NG+3 build, but I'm sure you'd be able to make a very interesting build around this at a lower level. Mind you, it'll be completely fricking useless against any of the endgame bosses, most of whom are highly resistant to both bleed and holy damage, but it could be the basis for an interesting prophet build, perhaps?

- Anonymous
the only reason we cant infuse this is because they knew wed be unstoppable with S scaling strength
- Anonymous
Why isnt this infusable? Its default skill is already an ash of war, it has no elemental damage, and it upgrades with regular smithing stones. Weird that they randomly decided this couldnt have a different weapon art.
- Anonymous
Rev up those charged heavy attacks, because I am sure hungry for ez pz poise breaks
- Anonymous
You guys are crazy, sure the move set changed but god this thing poise breaks the world when 2 handed. Maxed it out as fast as I could and ran over the whole game with it. Unga bunga for life!

I am curious as to why the Golden Land skill damage increases with every additional point of faith for this weapon. It says that the weapon only scales with strength.
- Anonymous
Download the Wood Grain Ring from DS3 to increase Wood Damage
- Anonymous
if you cast black flame then use the art, it will do damage over time. it may be the same for bloodflame causing bleed for each hit of the weapon art.
- Anonymous
has the highest poise damage on an r2 in the game, fun fact.
- Anonymous
Drippy af, but slightly worse than most colossals. Best on a str/fai to get better damage out of golden land.

To me it seems like this weapon was unfinished, since its physical damage lines up with similar weapons like the troll hammer, but lacks any kind of split damage secondary scaling (was likely intended to be holy split damage with faith scaling).
- Anonymous
Why does a great club have less damage than a curved great club , is that a joke?
- Anonymous
great PvE weapon. the charged R2 attacks melt through boss poise, plus it can be enchanted to fit a faith or int build.
- Anonymous
S tier for fashion, negative one billion for usefulness. It’s fun and I like it on str-fth prophet cosplay. It’s one of those weapons that’s so bad you are better off not even bothering with strength investment and instead going for spells and spell weapon buffs. It’s not particularly good with Orders Blade but that’s what looks coolest to me and the ash makes space for heals, discus of light and buffs.

chicken leg lives, and can be given weapon buffs for all sorts of fun flavors

why is it a regular smithing stone weapon if it cant take ashes of war

Even though you use regular smithing stones with a non-changeable Afinity & Ash of War, even though your Ash of War isn't exclusive to just you, even though you have the lowest AR out of all Colossal Weapons, and even though your tied with the Prelate's & Crusher for the 3rd shortest Colossal Weapon,
I will proudly love you; for you carried me through Dark Souls 3

I honestly love the great club's look, especially for a STR/FAI druid build
- Anonymous
So how exactly does Golden Land scale on this? Just with weapon upgrades, or does it somehow magically scale with Strength as well?
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
If you’re faith just use large club or curved great club with the same weapon art. Golden land will one shot most players if you’re at 50 fth on sacred infusion. If you’re pure strength just us large club with war cry. This weapon doesn’t have good strength nor faith scaling so it’s useless. I’m gonna look into whether this weapon has any merit when used at 13 int 50 fth, 35 str with Orders Blade buff and regen. Icon shield might be a cool aesthetic too
this thing got buffed with the updates, now is just by far the best colossal weapon hammer type, i used it before patch and it was already good but now HOLY S**T it's a monster and poise break anything in 2-3 fully charged R2, due to that, most bosses are a joke with this weapon.
