Dragon Halberd is a Halberd in Elden Ring. The Dragon Halberd scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity and it is a good Weapon for those users with high Dexterity builds who can use the Dragon Halberd to slash Enemies while spinning.

Halberd shaped like a dragon, enwreathed with both ice and lightning.

Alas, the Dragonkin Soldiers never attained immortality, and perished as decrepit, pale imitations of their skyborn kin.

Where to Find Dragon Halberd in Elden Ring

Picked this up for my rune level 1 run and it's absurdly strong. The damage buff you receive from the ash of war enables you to deal late game tier damage with no stat investment whatsoever.

      • Anonymous

WA buff is the same buff as for the Dragonscale Blade, +130 flat Lightning damage and 80 frost build up. Lasts 20s.

        • Anonymous

Fits better at SL 150 vs 125 meta as it is a Quality weapon. Best stat distribution after doing the math below. If u go any further u gain less than 2 AR each point:
Vagabond (best class for this, but Hero and Samurai is very close): 60 Vig, 25 End, 54 Str, 55 dex = 753 AR at SL 150 unbuffed (WA buffs it). Best used 2H.

With this setup I have 103 poise aswell using the Poise talisman + Equip load talisman.

          Your welcome / Maanestraale

Some guy said the spear talisman doesn't work on this. Can't find anything about this fact, so plz prove me wrong guys.

If someone can corroborate this, then it should be added to the wiki page. I saw a spreadsheet online detailing damage boosts against dragons with dragon themed weapons, and the dragon halberd apparently does 10%increased damage to regular dragons, and 5% increased damage to ancient dragons.

I feel like this would be a really good, and fairly easily attainable early game pvp weapon. At +0 base stats the weapon art would nearly double its AR, since it's a flat 130 regardless of upgrade level. I'm tempted to make a new character and try that for myself

                • Anonymous

Can confirm that the AoW adds frozen lighting to the weapon. seems to last 10-15 seconds. Damage increase noted in testing. My character=Str 41/Dex21. Testing performed near Church of elle (or as I call it "The Church of L's"). R1,standing attack used for both damages. Unbuffed/+0 weapon. Regular attack=132 damage Attack with FrozenLit buff=208. It doesn't last long enough to be truly great but it's not JUST spinning slash.

Why do the descriptions for this, and other weapons, suggest raising a trait for this weapon that it doesn't scale as well with. The website description says this is for High Dex users while it scales better with strength? lots of stuff like that on the site.

for early-ish game fashion, rock this with banished knight armor set it looks amazing. Killed a bunch of dragons and radahn with it and never felt cooler

Seems like the ice lighting buff you get from this ash of war increases damage the more points you put into faith...Or something else is influencing it im not sure

Weapon seems to do 10% more damage to regular dragons, +9 attack rating of 685 does 556 damage light attack body, commanders standard +9 attack rating 696 light attack body is 515 damage. The dragon halberd should be doing around 11 less damage of around 500 then but it does 556 which is around a 10% buff it seems.

I think this is the only halberd with thrusting attacks for the light combo. The dodge roll attack is a slash and not a thrust, which is the only thing I don’t like. The ability slaps. Hard. And the stagger and frostbite is amazing on it. I can’t put this thing down. Side not, you can cancel the full spin to just apply the frostbite and that’s hella useful

This is the only good quality weapon for a non-over leveled build.

If you have 54 Str (For two handing or one handing) and 40-55 Dex, it does the best AR for a halberd, that I can find, while also having a better than normal spinning slash.

Does anybody know if this gets the extra damage to dragons (10% for ancient, 20% for regular dragons) that the dragonscale katana gets?

                                  • Anonymous

Does the lightning damage increase when you upgrade the weapon? If so, it would be useful to know when and by how much.

this halberd slaps so hard. It deals Physical and lighning dmd when infused. Plus frostbite is very useful. Most players in pvp uderestimate this weapon, if you get caught in its fast weapon art you can proc frostbite very easy which will deadl insane dmg and debuff. Very good in pvp and pve. Top tier weapon for strengh or quality builds

This was the first decent weapon I found on my first playthrough going Wretch and it has a special place in my heart for how many mother****ers we wrecked together :')

A halberd with a thrust attack is excellent when so many enemies are weak to pierce damage. It can buff itself and also looks good.

This item is also dropped by the blue Golem in Caelid. If you want to duel wield it in the first playthrough, might be good to know:

don't get fooled by the scaling, this halebard is hands down the best halebard for pvp and definetly one of the best weapons overall for pvp. The weapon art is really really strong and ofter catches unwary players after the second imput + it adds frostbite. For PVE and horseback the Golden Halebard is the best though. This is essentially a pvp weapon.

                                              • Anonymous

After some testing with a friend it seems like the Frost applied to the weapon is roughly around 70-80 on a build with 32 arcane, It likely doesn't scale with arcane though.
The same amount built up with the Dragonscale Katana's Weapon art too. So the blue lightning buffs probably are identical.

really cool weapon and it fits nice with the banished knight set though i wish it had the other halberd moveset

                                                  • Anonymous

Main hand this bad boy, offhand golden halberd for the golden vow buff. Jumping L1 and L1 combo hit like an absolute mack truck and this weapon art is ridiculously strong to boot. The halberd powerstance range and moveset is crazy good. Highly recommend.

                                                    • Anonymous

Okay.. This is the comment you're looking for. The buff is a flat 130 damage, no matter what level the weapon is or scaling. Buff last about 20 seconds. It is activated using the weapon art spinning attack. The blue lighting buff does magic damage and builds frostbite. Not a good weapon for higher level PvP or PvE. Lower level it's probably one of the best for PvP.

                                                      • Anonymous

I feel like this should be updated to note the lightning on the skill. Anyone I show this too at first skips it after reading the "spinning slash" part.

                                                        • Anonymous

This weapon has helped me kick a lot of boss asses. Good range for a poking weapon, great physical damage, and staggers enemies pretty easily. The WA is super helpful with the 20 second frost/lightning buff. PS I beat Malenia with it so there's that endorsement

                                                          • Anonymous

I invaded someone using this and the first hit of the spinning slash stunlocked me into getting hit by the subsequent hits so it was basically a true combo oneshot. Not sure why that's allowed.

                                                            • Anonymous

Buff lasts 20 seconds, starting from the first lightning strike on the weapon skill. The second lightning strike at the end of the skill does not refresh the buff. Gives the weapon bonus frost and lightning damage. Also I don't believe you can boost it with enchants or consumables like the wiki says. I've never got that to work. Hits hard when buff is up and even harder once u get frost stacked up. Huge fan of this weapon.

nice weapon for pve too, can get you through the game even though there is better weapons for quality like bloodhound fang. it has a thrust/poke regular attack which is really neat and the weapon art buffs it with frostbite (which in my opinion is the 2nd best status effect in this game next to bleed). sadly its jump attack aint that good in my experience and theyre king in this game, but it looks nice and is fun as hell so +1

I slept on this my first playthrough but have been having a blast with it on my 2nd char for PvP and PvE.

For PVP: It's great for 3v1 and 2v1 invasions. The weapon art is spin is fast and the follow-up spin/slam does great damage. If you have the host and their buddies mobbing you, you can easily catch all 3 of them in the initial spin then lock onto whomever you want to hit with the follow-up slam. I've one shot several people with the weapon art. The buff you get on your weapon is nothing to scoff at either and also causes frost buildup.

For PVE: The weapon art carries this weapon. You can definitely get away with spamming the weapon art on a boss to kill them fast.

A neat trick/bug i've noticed is that you can get the buff applied to your weapon if you start the weapon art then get attacked before you spin (which uses your FP) effectively giving you the buff for free.

                                                                        • Anonymous

Wow they really undersell this weapon with it's description. The spinning slash is actually imbued with frost lightning, and it temporarily imbues the halberd's regular attacks with frost lightning. Even un-upgraded the weapon art ****s up anything not resistant to lightning, and the frostbite is great for killing bosses.

                                                                          • Anonymous

Overlooked because it has a generic Ashes of War, but it's actually different - the skill deals lightning and frost and imbues the weapon with it for a short while.

                                                                            • Anonymous

This halberd is quite good for PvP. The thrusting attack can catch rolls non-stop back to back. I was using it with a dex/int build cause it's my first playthrough and despite only doing anywhere from 150 to 250 damage per R1, I could easily stack up 1k+ damage on someone just through roll catches. Breaks poise nicely as well.

                                                                              • Anonymous

Nth-ing a lot of the comments that this weapon is very much sleeper good, especially earlier on in the game; the Dragonkin is not difficult to defeat from horseback at all, and it's quite easy to wield this weapon by level 30. It will easily see you through the mid-game until you're ready to wield some of the really beefy weapons, and remains a good option for a poke + shield loadout. And the buffed mode is incredible and deals tons of frost buildup per poke.

                                                                                • Anonymous

Really nice weapon, great against groups like Claymen.

                                                                                  • Anonymous

The weapons attack by default seems a bit lower than those of comparable Halberds, but the ash of war skill is nuts. Not only does it give you a bit of extra lighning damage, the frostbite effect procs for a good amount of damage AND lowers enemy defenses. It's a lot of added damage overall and it's easy to have good uptime on the buff.
