Dragon Halberd is a Halberd in Elden Ring. The Dragon Halberd scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity and it is a good Weapon for those users with high Dexterity builds who can use the Dragon Halberd to slash Enemies while spinning.
Halberd shaped like a dragon, enwreathed with both ice and lightning.
Alas, the Dragonkin Soldiers never attained immortality, and perished as decrepit, pale imitations of their skyborn kin.
Where to Find Dragon Halberd in Elden Ring
The Dragon Halberd weapon can be found at the following location:
- Dropped by the Dragonkin Soldier boss in Siofra River. This Dragonkin Soldier can be accessed by a portal directly south on the map of the Worshipper's Woods on ruins being led up to by a collapsed pillar with an archer sitting atop. [Map link] [Video location]
Elden Ring Dragon Halberd Notes & Tips
- Weapon Skill: Spinning Slash
- Spinning Slash on this weapon functions similarly to the standard version, but has an unstated additional effect of imbuing the weapon with additional lightning damage and frostbite build-up on hit for the next 45 seconds. This version of the skill will be faster than the regular Ash of War: Spinning Slash on all other Halberds.
- Despite scaling better to STR at +10, a more even spread will result in better AR than leaning more into STR for the same level of stat investment (56 STR / 34 DEX = 647AR vs 70 STR / 20 DEX = 639AR, 55 STR / 55 DEX = 694 AR vs 80 STR / 30 DEX = 690 AR).
- This weapon cannot be infused with Ashes of War.
- Dragon Halberd can be upgraded by using Somber Smithing Stones.
- Deals +10% damage against
Dragon-type enemies.
- Deals +5% damage against
Ancient Dragon-type enemies
- Spinning Slash buffs this weapon with Ice Lightning, adding 160 Lightning Damage and 80 Frost build up for 45 seconds, much like the Dragonscale Blade.
- Sell value:
200
- NOTE: As of Patch 1.09, the scaling values of this weapon were changed. Please refer to the Upgrades Table of this weapon below.

Started the game a month ago, have yet to see it once in multiplayer, yet here people talk like its the mist popular thing
- Anonymous
I don't do PVP, so I had no idea that everyone was hating on this weapon now. Frankly I think these games might be better with no player versus player at all, because everyone gets mad over the littlest things and nothing is ever balanced.
- Anonymous
Came back to check why the **** ppl are using this, never noticed one of my top fave weapons is now the new moonveil.
- Anonymous
AoW needs a nerf for pvp. 90% of players use this bieng such an early game weapon. Before lvl 70 this is everyone's go to. Style and finesse are dead atm
- Anonymous
One of the best quality weapons available. The L2 really shouldn't be able to true combo into itself but it's not like PvP will ever be balanced anyway.
- Anonymous
L2, L2, L2, L2, L2, L2, L2, L2, L2, L2....... seems familiar

I see why it's called the dragon halberd because it was dragon me all the way to elden lord
- Anonymous
I wouldn't mind if there were more weapons with the unique variation of some standard ashes of war. Right now there is Dragon Halberd and Magma Blade with unique spinning slash, Dragonscale Blade with unique lightning slash, Nepheli's Axe with unique stormcaller and of course Rivers Of Blood and Moonveil. All these weapons stand out a little bit in their classes and it looks like its not that much extra work to modify already existing skills and put them on somber weapons.

I'm supposed to access the dragonkin soldier through a portal and not by going down the ruins above?
really?
- Anonymous
i don't understand what kind of enjoyment people get out of just spamming the WA on this in duels. i'll even see people who don't spam the running poke, arguably the halberd class' best move, they'll just walk up to me and brainlessly use the WA over and over. people are legit brain fried, just seeking immediate effortless victory
- Anonymous
When someone using this starts their ash of war, stand back and use ice spear ash of war before they can roll out. It is not the best but at least you can get a hit in.
- Anonymous
Honestly one of the coolest looking weapons in the game. Ice lightning is weird but it works here.

Cancer in 1.10, WA full combos for instant frost and over 1k damage with hyper armour

This weapon is both a blessing and a curse, I got this weapon in my RL1 run and thought nothing of it at the time but then I upgraded this thing and ooh boy I can't get rid of it.
It's a somber weapon which means upgrades are easy, lightning and cold affinity so you have additional damage + debuff, it deals with npc invaders extremely well to the point that they're more nuisance now, and you pretty much only need to beat one boss to get this thing and nothing else trumps this weapon especially when the upgrades are already invested in it.
I've been trying to use other weapons for variety as well as a replacement, I even tried a stance break build but even that I had to abandon cause this halberd just has it all so I keep coming back.
I don't think I could even try any other weapons for RL1 now, and I find it kinda unfortunate cause among the fun parts in RL1 is finding different busted weapons against enemies, not really a thing anymore since this thing is just flat out broken.
Oh, and did i mention this also does bonus damage against dragons? Jesus what else actually comes as good as this
- Anonymous
Used this to kill Malenia for the very first time solo. Now one of my favorite weapons ever.
- Anonymous
So I got this halberd relatively early, checked the moveset, same as my banished hallberd granted by Edgar. Similar damages. No ash of war possible. I threw it in the bin and never checked it again.
Now I learn that it has an insane AoW and is secretely superpowerful ? But I'm already in NG+3 so I won't use it anyway. Good job FromSoftware, good job...
- Anonymous
This is the kind of all-in-one weapon that can get you through a playthrough with no backup. The thrust moveset is more than serviceable, the AoW is at once a nice crowd control tool, burst damage option and a nice little buff that keeps the damage from falling behind late game, the scaling is decent and to top it all off... you can acquire and wield it from the very beginning of a playthrough. Seriously, early game with this is a cakewalk, and it's not as outclassed lategame as people seem to think with those nice safe pokes and frostbite to supplement the damage.

can be acquired pretty easily early by unsheathe spamming the dragonkin
- Anonymous
The great equalizer in early game PvP. Pick this up if you’re doing a TT run or invading at low level. Insanely good weapon for killing shitters or overleveled password summons. Use with care, I reserve DH only for the most abominable shitters.

- Anonymous
An fairly ok early game lightning dmg choice if not investing in faith.
- Anonymous
This halberd matches really well aesthetically with the Beast Champion Set
- Anonymous
Does lighting and frostbite status scale with some attributes?
- Anonymous
Why can't I make this weapon scale with Arcane so I can use it as my melee weapon for a Dragon Knight build with the Dragon Communion Seal?
- Anonymous
"Despite scaling better to STR at +10, a more even spread will result in better AR than leaning more into STR for the same level of stat investment (56 STR / 34 DEX = 647AR vs 70 STR / 20 DEX = 639AR, 55 STR / 55 DEX = 694 AR vs 80 STR / 30 DEX = 690 AR)."
Isn't that the case for every weapon ? 54 STR when 2 handing is 54x1.5 = 80-81 effective STR which I think is a hard cap for every weapon, regardless of scaling. Not sure if there is anything specific to this weapon, I could be wrong though

Never knew this thing existed, I should stop ignoring all those portals
- Anonymous
If this thing had the Swordspear moveset, it would quite literally be perfect.
- Anonymous
Probably one of the most powerful RL 1 weapons in the game.
- Anonymous
The R1 attack is it a bit lame i think, attacks like a spear.. golden halberd has cooler moveset but the WA of this weapon is sick af
- Anonymous
Personal favorite powerstancing option, paired with a Fire BK Halberd is a good way to proc frostbites and both are available virtually from the start
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
don’t forget to use the second r2 AoW! awesome for pvp when surrounded. :)
rl 20 +2 on the weapon and it’s fun for invasions.
- Anonymous
Surprisingly good for RL1. Great damage + frostbite. I used it to beat Radahn. Not my favorite moveset, but decent. I think this may be the best somber weapon for RL1 I've tried so far.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Damages are now 160 lightning and I confirm it lasts for 45 seconds
- Anonymous
I found this thing and passed over it cause I thought the AoW was just gonna be the generic one. Holy ****, how many other weapons have modified standard AoWs? I really hope I didn't pass over other weapons because having Lightning damage early on would have made those dang iron maiden enemies way easier.
- Anonymous
Peepa who call This a "Low Level Invasion God" Didnt got one shotted by it at Meta level yet.
This is possibly the best Halberd in the game by far
- Anonymous
Do upgrades and or leveling increase the ice lightning output in any way or is it permanently fixed.
- Anonymous
Dude this thing hits like a freight train now, it’s still a bit early game oriented, it just goes from hitting with the force of a thousand suns to a meteor strike as you progress. Absolutely love this weapon, viable throughout the entire game with its new buffs
The info on the Ash of War buff is incorrect/outdated. As of patch 1.08, the buff from the Dragon Halberd's special Spnning Slash is +160 flat Lightning damage with a duration of 45 seconds.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
The best low level invasion weapon IMO. Easy to get with a little bit of determination, grants access to frostbite which helps cut through overleveled phantoms, and the flat damage makes it hit hard even on low stats.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
this thing absolutely destroys. im surprised more people dont go for it over bhf
- Anonymous
Looks like it was designed to go along with the beast champion set
- Anonymous
sometimes you get bored of decimating the game with bloodhound's fang, so you try this. not bad.
- Anonymous
I wish this and commander's standard had similar range (make commander slightly shorter and make this slighly longer), since they have a similar enough scaling to where you would want to dual wield them, but the range difference becomes noticeable for regular attacks very quickly.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Absolutely slaughters the early and mid game. Halberds are good in general and with the buffs to spinning slash and the special variant on this weapon you can stomp bosses by just spamming L2. The reach, damage bonus, and frostbite make it great for dragon hunting too.
- Anonymous
This thing is king of low level PvP. Between the massive lightning damage boost and the frostbite, you'll crush anything you fight. Only requires 15 strength to use when two handed. Can be gotten early on as well without having to travel to high level areas.
- Anonymous
How does this perform at higher levels? I'm level 85 and this thing hits like a god damn truck.
- Anonymous
In addition to the buff to the duration in 1.07, the lightning damage from the buff was increased from +130 to +160.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
This weapon is really good now with 1.07. Straight up deletes people in duels and invasions. Not only was the length of the buff increased, but Spinning Slash in general was buffed doing more poise damage against enemies. So get ready to stun lock and poke poke poke!
- Anonymous
Dragonscale Blade and Dragon Halberd are insane now. I love these weapons, I couldn’t be happier with patch 1.07
- Anonymous
1.07 the effect lasts about 45 seconds, similar to dragonscale blade
- Anonymous
Like with the dragonscale blade, skill duration seems to be buffed to 45 seconds
- Anonymous
Hero class, Caelid for Poison Mist AoW, Siofra, set flasks to FP, waygate, sneak behind Dragonkin, mist cheese, 1 point into dex. Enjoy.
- Anonymous
ngl i wish they changed the "halberd" weapon class to polearms, cuz this ****'s a poleaxe. not to mention the lucerne being a polehammer. outside of that tho i LOVE this weapon and its super great and versatile
- Anonymous
Some tips after using this weapon for a few days: the lightning/frost status addition from the AoW is a flat damage gain with no scaling, so it’s more impactful for a lower level character (although frost is always good).
The light thrust makes the weapon viable for tunnel work, as does the light jumping attack, a vertical downward slash. The strong attack can absolutely bounce off walls and get you killed in any hallway or tunnel, but it can can also trivialize an entire mob in the open (like the AoW, the charged attack is also a double-spin, meaning that for 20 seconds after activating the AoW you can repeat it with your charged attack for free while the weapon is infused)
Be careful to use the light attacks for smaller enemies, such as vulgar militia, catacomb imps, etc, as the strong attacks do sometimes pass right over their heads.
All in all this weapon is basically a Swiss Army knife, it can handle well in a lot of different situations if you adapt to the moveset, and the variety of damages and status buildup make it great for almost everything.
- Anonymous
I prefer the dragonscale sword. The spinning slash with ice lightning is a good weapon art but the move-set this has seems a bit dull for such a nice looking halberd. As opposed to something like great-stars which looks sh**ty but performs very well.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Here is what I just did and you probably can too:
Stack poison darts + Medusa and poison his ass. After he is poisoned you can run away and wait untill the bosses hp stops draining, rinse and repeat.
With this method i got the helberd before morgot at like lvl 25.
I also smashed his knee caps a little to speed up the process but you don't have to if you don't feel like it
- Anonymous
This has to be my favorite weapon in the game, fight me about it
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Looks poggers as all hell... Too bad its moveset is so boring.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Should I use this or the Dragonscale blade because I really like both
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I had fun dual-wielding this with a second cold-enchanted halberd, gives even more frost buildup after using the weapon art.
- Anonymous
A must-have before hunting dragon hearts. Greater magma wrym almost got a kill, were it not for the frostbite proc, near the end.
- Anonymous
Just a all around good weapon, don't let the spinning slash aow fool you, it also buffs the weapon by quite a bit with lightning, making it a decent quality build weapon
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
For some weird reason, the weapon art's frozen lightning bolt conducts in water, while the incantation doesn't.
I absolutely adore this weapon. Was my go-to through most of the game when a particular boss or enemy was giving me trouble. I may have killed all but one magma wyrm using it. Not to mention it wrecks NPC invaders. It's hard to find good STR weapons that have good passive burst passives too, but Dragon Halberd's frost buff procced pretty regularly because of the R1's speed.
In comparison, one of my other most-used weapons, Great Stars, barely ever gets the bleed proc off unless I'm buffed with Bloodflame and/or wailing on an enemy with a lot of HP who's also weak to bleed e.g. Sanguine Noble.
- Anonymous
why does the wiki say it is good for high dex when it scales better with strength
- Anonymous
Lots of ways this is great, but in particular it crushes the early and mid game if you take the Siofra River waygate and fight the Soldier however early you can manage.
- Anonymous
Picked this up for my rune level 1 run and it's absurdly strong. The damage buff you receive from the ash of war enables you to deal late game tier damage with no stat investment whatsoever.
- Anonymous
WA buff is the same buff as for the Dragonscale Blade, +130 flat Lightning damage and 80 frost build up. Lasts 20s.

Fits better at SL 150 vs 125 meta as it is a Quality weapon. Best stat distribution after doing the math below. If u go any further u gain less than 2 AR each point:
Vagabond (best class for this, but Hero and Samurai is very close): 60 Vig, 25 End, 54 Str, 55 dex = 753 AR at SL 150 unbuffed (WA buffs it). Best used 2H.
With this setup I have 103 poise aswell using the Poise talisman + Equip load talisman.
Your welcome / Maanestraale
- Anonymous
Some guy said the spear talisman doesn't work on this. Can't find anything about this fact, so plz prove me wrong guys.
- Anonymous
If someone can corroborate this, then it should be added to the wiki page. I saw a spreadsheet online detailing damage boosts against dragons with dragon themed weapons, and the dragon halberd apparently does 10%increased damage to regular dragons, and 5% increased damage to ancient dragons.
- Anonymous
I feel like this would be a really good, and fairly easily attainable early game pvp weapon. At +0 base stats the weapon art would nearly double its AR, since it's a flat 130 regardless of upgrade level. I'm tempted to make a new character and try that for myself
- Anonymous
Can confirm that the AoW adds frozen lighting to the weapon. seems to last 10-15 seconds. Damage increase noted in testing. My character=Str 41/Dex21. Testing performed near Church of elle (or as I call it "The Church of L's"). R1,standing attack used for both damages. Unbuffed/+0 weapon. Regular attack=132 damage Attack with FrozenLit buff=208. It doesn't last long enough to be truly great but it's not JUST spinning slash.
- Anonymous
Why do the descriptions for this, and other weapons, suggest raising a trait for this weapon that it doesn't scale as well with. The website description says this is for High Dex users while it scales better with strength? lots of stuff like that on the site.
- Anonymous
This full weapon art claps hard. Just wish it's size was just a little bit longer (thats what she said)
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
for early-ish game fashion, rock this with banished knight armor set it looks amazing. Killed a bunch of dragons and radahn with it and never felt cooler
- Anonymous
Seems like the ice lighting buff you get from this ash of war increases damage the more points you put into faith...Or something else is influencing it im not sure
L2 is busted, but so satisfying against gankers
