Dragon Halberd is a Halberd in Elden Ring. The Dragon Halberd scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity and it is a good Weapon for those users with high Dexterity builds who can use the Dragon Halberd to slash Enemies while spinning.

Halberd shaped like a dragon, enwreathed with both ice and lightning.

Alas, the Dragonkin Soldiers never attained immortality,
and perished as decrepit, pale imitations of their skyborn kin.

Where to Find Dragon Halberd in Elden Ring

The Dragon Halberd weapon can be found at the following location:

  • Dropped by the Dragonkin Soldier boss in Siofra River. This Dragonkin Soldier can be accessed by a portal directly south on the map of the Worshipper's Woods on ruins being led up to by a collapsed pillar with an archer sitting atop. [Map link] [Video location]

Elden Ring Dragon Halberd Notes & Tips

  • Weapon Skill: Spinning Slash
  • Spinning Slash on this weapon functions similarly to the standard version, but has an unstated additional effect of imbuing the weapon with additional lightning damage and frostbite build-up on hit for the next 45 seconds. This version of the skill will be faster than the regular Ash of War: Spinning Slash on all other Halberds.
  • Despite scaling better to STR at +10, a more even spread will result in better AR than leaning more into STR for the same level of stat investment (56 STR / 34 DEX = 647AR vs 70 STR / 20 DEX = 639AR, 55 STR / 55 DEX = 694 AR vs 80 STR / 30 DEX = 690 AR).
  • This weapon cannot be infused with Ashes of War.
  • Dragon Halberd can be upgraded by using Somber Smithing Stones.
  • Deals +10% damage against dragon icon 40px Dragon-type enemies.
  • Deals +5% damage against ancient dragon icon 40px Ancient Dragon-type enemies
  • Spinning Slash buffs this weapon with Ice Lightning, adding 160 Lightning Damage and 80 Frost build up for 45 seconds, much like the Dragonscale Blade.
  • Sell value:  er runes 13 200
  • NOTE: As of Patch 1.09, the scaling values of this weapon were changed. Please refer to the Upgrades Table of this weapon below.

People don't understand how invaders make the game better. You guys never played DS1 and don't appreciate the challenege we provide. We are doing you a service and you should be grateful when we 1hko you with this after rotting you. Little crybabies. Invaders are the real victims!

go for L2 > fail > run to mob
they come to fight mob > run to L2 > fail again > run to another mob
they come again > run to L2 > success stun lock kill > claim I am so genuis and skillful that can take down even 1 vs 3

            • Anonymous

LOL welfare weapon get real, you just can't handle the skill it takes to take down three humans at once and that's why you're forever co op and never red man

Silents guys!!! i hear something... it sounds like.... whining? ahh yes... it's you little gankers with full radahn armor and moonveil..

good weapon claim as toxic tryhard because low level invader who use this
all weapon deal more stance damage (poise damage) when upgrade
low level always be with low weapon upgrade that make poise damage very low and can braindead spam aow without problem.

not for high level , if you dare spamming aow you will get hit and break aow stance , you can not spam for win at this point. so no problem for someone who use this invade at high level

just had my own stormveil moment, guy spawned in and just chased us and chased us lol. after this mentally handicapped strategy didn't work and almost ko'd him he switched to rot pots and took out the host this way. stormveil moment.

People keep complaining about low level invasion, but no one is talking how stupidly good this thing is in high level duels. Poise, good moveset, damage through the roof, consistent frostbite procs - I love it

                        • Anonymous

Literally never see this weapon unless it's a lower level invader looking to one-combo hosts with 600 HP. Also T-bagging furiously after spending multiple minutes running away to finally land the true combo is apparently mandatory.

                            2 type of users
                            1. Low IQ and self esteem invader who use this for instant win in low level.
                            2. Dragon tornado go brrrrrrr.

                            • Anonymous

Three types of invaders using this at low levels. The first type is the skilled invader, who confidently uses different weapons and ashes until they encounter a gank squad or a twink. The second type is the noob invader, who watched a youtube guide and now starts every invasion by chasing down the host and spamming the skill. This strategy works *just* enough times to reinforce the behavior, stunting their growth for weeks, months, maybe forever if they put down the game. The third type is the midwit invader, someone who can never become skilled, but has evolved from the noob invader. They learned that they can download a cheat save and use every cheesy tactic they find on reddit to compensate for their terminal skill deficit. They take every win they can, because they lose often, and that means shamelessly spin2win and rotting every host without discernment.

The Vagabond class can two hand this if you put a single point into strength and its absolutely brutal when invading newbies because the spinning slash often stun locks them with the initial hit making it a 3 hit combo that does 900 damage to those who prolly only have 500hp lol

I truly believe the dragonscale weapons were made as a means to give pure melee players with no faith or int investment a means to land non-bleed based status attacks. Hence the flat damage on the ability buffs.

                                  • Anonymous

I love this weapon but really want a small amount of faith scaling to it so it's not found on every low level build known to man. I use it on a Lvl 80 Quality / Faith Dragoncult build that emphasizes buffing. Even at 36 Faith buffing with Gravel stone seal +18, Electrify armament buffs weapons 165 Lightning to a non-infused weapon. This one adds 160 Lightning buff for no investment and inflicts frost. It's a bit overtuned for that low of level and faith scaling would really benefit it. Ice Lightning thematically is faith so why not have a somber weapon with a unique ash have more than minimal strength? Also, I feel the same about the Dragonscale katana, that should have some faith scaling & requirements as well so it's a little more unique.

I love this weapon. I also love how much people complain about invaders using it.
Hosts can tryhard all they want with all the spammy weapons, spells etc, plus summoning hunters.
But if an invader finds a great weapon to use against ganks, people start complaining.
It scales badly, has some of the shortest ranges of halberds, if you cannot manage distancing - and outplaying one player with 3 people, the problem is on you, no matter the ash of war.
I personally will enjoy many invasions with this weapon.

Mald all you want about this weapon, it has a pretty ash of war, thus it shall be used for aesthetic/fashion purposes!

Every time I suffer through upgrading a normal weapon to +25, picking out a skill and infusion, tuning my stats... I think about my dearest Dragon Halberd, waiting for me in Siofra, all my decisions made for me, and upgraded with Somber to boot. It's hard to stay away sometimes.

As a low level pvper, there is only 2 reasons I use this. 1: I invaded into a gank squad, twinks, and/or overleveled phantoms. Or 2: you were rude to me and my funny themed build in the current invasion or a previous invasion. Suffice to say this thing is one of the few weapons that allows you to bridge the gap in terms of burst damage against overleveled phantoms and rune arced bonfire duelists. It is a great, if scummy, invasion tool for low level but try to reserve it only for scummy players.

Objectively the poke move set is superior. But I cant be the only one who was disappointed that this weapon didn't use the slashing move set right? at least give it the overhead r2 instead of the crappy double spin.

                                                Stop telling anything

"enwreathed with both ice and lightning"
                                                Can't infuse nor buff it
                                                No lightning
                                                No ice

                                                I got Miyazakied

                                                • The problem with it is not the moveset (which is very good on it's own) but the one shot combo it has on lower levels. But what is sweeter than switching to it and showing a twink the taste of their own medicine? Since it is so early and easily acquired, all you need is rush dragonbarrow merchant and buy 99 poison arrows. A grand weapon for low level pvp and pve alike, second to maybe none. A huge help in low level farming some tough mobs, like Leyendell high pages or that cleanrot in haligtree, too. 10/10

Im surprised how many people seem to think this is some unfair meta weapon, theres so much worse than this. Its basically the easy to obtain pvp weapon for people who would rather not think to much about their build(as it fits most builds, and doesn’t require much stat investment to be viable). You can easily make builds with a banished knight halberd (that has much better range, which is huge in pvp)that would win against this the majority of the time. Yet you’re not seeing complaints about banished knight halberd being OP, even though it’s objectively the more meta weapon of the two.

Reminder not to stop using a weapon because people complain about it. You're not beholden to the regarded individuals in the comment section. Play the game how you want and abuse whatever mechanic and weapon you want. Let them cry about it all they like.

Single target dmg with thrusts, when ur getting gangbanged by mobs just unleash the skill. The particle effect is rlly cool, plus it looks perfectly matched for my beastchampion set. Idc abt no pvp. 10/10

I just pull out my bow and start jumping around like a monkey while spamming sleep arrows at them to drain their FP. They always end up looking like a porcupine and annoyed to the point that they want to leave since they just can't attack without getting shot in the head or falling asleep.

                                                                  • Anonymous

Admit you can't hack it and switch to being a blue like the rest of the failed invaders. You're not saint riot if the only way you can win is by spamming this. And you're never going to get better like this.

                                                                          • Anonymous

That's a lot of what this game has been since day one. L2 L2 L2.

                                                                            • Anonymous

The cold+lightning buff + standard and pierce attacks ensures this has next to 0 bad matchups, this was a sleeper hit if I ever saw one

                                                                              • Anonymous

No build for this one eh?

I'm playing on my first ng, and just picked up a second dragon halberd. Is it better to two hand or power stance this weapon?

On pve I've previously power stanced curved swords and straight swords on an arc/fth build, falling back on spear/shield when I need a crutch. I'd like to learn a few new styles of melee combat now. Halberd, twin blades, great hammers, whips, claws, scythes are all weapons i haven't done because I wasn't meeting minimum stats

                                                                                • Anonymous

This weapon and Commander's standard are both fantastic.
I love the thrusting moveset and you can get both of them early if you can kite the enemy on horseback (which is much easier with a HALBERD)

                                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                                    • Anonymous

I'm not joking I've seen all manner of blues, invaders and the like basically run away and quit after the spinning slash didn't inta kill someone. Git good and stop crutching.

                                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                                          • Anonymous

To anyone in Stormveil Castle right now... remember, it's just a game. If it's not fun to press L2 anymore, try some new things. Do a crafting material run, play a different game, use a weapon you've never used before. Bring some puzzles to do while you're waiting to invade. Do some proper role-playing in this role-playing game. Emote, bow, do the slow ominous walk. Let yourself mess up. Goof around. Maybe do a themed build or some Fashion Souls. Nobody's going to be upset with you if you're not killing hosts with the maximum possible efficiency.

And way more importantly, take care of yourself. Drink some water. Stretch every so often. Go outside and get some fresh air and sunlight. Talk to people you love. Call someone on Discord and play with them. If you don't have anyone to play with, go on a multi-player subreddit and ask around. Send friend requests to people you fight. Say 'GG' after you're done.

                                                                                              • Anonymous

Frankly I think these games might be better with no player versus player at all, because everyone gets mad over the littlest things and nothing is ever balanced.

                                                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                                                      • Anonymous

I wouldn't mind if there were more weapons with the unique variation of some standard ashes of war. Right now there is Dragon Halberd and Magma Blade with unique spinning slash, Dragonscale Blade with unique lightning slash, Nepheli's Axe with unique stormcaller and of course Rivers Of Blood and Moonveil. All these weapons stand out a little bit in their classes and it looks like its not that much extra work to modify already existing skills and put them on somber weapons.

                                                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                                                          really?

                                                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                                                              • Anonymous

This weapon is both a blessing and a curse, I got this weapon in my RL1 run and thought nothing of it at the time but then I upgraded this thing and ooh boy I can't get rid of it.

It's a somber weapon which means upgrades are easy, lightning and cold affinity so you have additional damage + debuff, it deals with npc invaders extremely well to the point that they're more nuisance now, and you pretty much only need to beat one boss to get this thing and nothing else trumps this weapon especially when the upgrades are already invested in it.

I've been trying to use other weapons for variety as well as a replacement, I even tried a stance break build but even that I had to abandon cause this halberd just has it all so I keep coming back.

I don't think I could even try any other weapons for RL1 now, and I find it kinda unfortunate cause among the fun parts in RL1 is finding different busted weapons against enemies, not really a thing anymore since this thing is just flat out broken.

Oh, and did i mention this also does bonus damage against dragons? Jesus what else actually comes as good as this

                                                                                                                • Anonymous

So I got this halberd relatively early, checked the moveset, same as my banished hallberd granted by Edgar. Similar damages. No ash of war possible. I threw it in the bin and never checked it again.

Now I learn that it has an insane AoW and is secretely superpowerful ? But I'm already in NG+3 so I won't use it anyway. Good job FromSoftware, good job...

The thrust moveset is more than serviceable, the AoW is at once a nice crowd control tool, burst damage option and a nice little buff that keeps the damage from falling behind late game, the scaling is decent and to top it all off... you can acquire and wield it from the very beginning of a playthrough. Seriously, early game with this is a cakewalk, and it's not as outclassed lategame as people seem to think with those nice safe pokes and frostbite to supplement the damage.
