Sacred sword of the Gloam-Eyed Queen
who controlled the Godskin Apostles before her defeat
at the hands of Maliketh.
The black flames wielded by the apostles
are channeled from this sword.

For pvp, only use the first half of the AoW and then keep playing to fake them out and then the next time you use the AoW and the run up to punish you use the fallow up attack and wipe them out :-)
- Anonymous
Wtf I thought it was good? 20/74/60 str dex faith and I'm getting 800 damage. Skill takes so damn long to start. Must be for bosses only. Can someone explain?

I've been a bleed build through the whole game and the dlc but I might switch to this for the Radagon/Elden Beast fight
- Anonymous
it's so funny yet sad that the geq gets all this hype/build up through the black flame descriptions, the fact that it took maliketh to kill her and that she was even an empyrean and this actually living up to its name and she just turns out to be the modern day velka with like 3% extra gameplay influence
- Anonymous
Without hyperarmour on it's skill it was a flawed gem. Now it's actual Godslayer
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
The cool thing about the sword is that technically it's the raging wolves who's main goal was to be a shadow of an empeyrean and who's sword that you have from being her second shadow after killing blaidd ranni so you could use this sword and rannis wedding present in a way and use it as the raging wolf has fulfilled his dream

I finally beat malenia solo with this weapon, dragoncrest greatshield, alexander shard, carian filigreed, claw talisman (you can jump over a lot of her basic moves), vow, fgms and the damage reduction and flame shroudings tears.
it feels good to win trades with a boss.
- Anonymous
The enhanced speed of the R1 attacks on Godslayer's Greatsword pairs with the 3-hit combo of colossal swords to create a monster. Twinblade Talisman and Godskin Swaddling Cloth go off every third hit together so prepare for trouble! If you pair it with another Godslayer's Greatsword make it double!
Feels very good. Throw in additional fire and multi-hit damage boosts for even more power.
- Anonymous
I can't see anywhere on wiki mentioned, that its hyperarmor during skill has been patched when the DLC dropped. Has anyone more info about it?
- Anonymous
As alot of people stated this looks like it could slot destined death in its blade but the item description says the apostle draw power from it so it wouldve been a cool way to have a secret boss encounter
- Anonymous
The Fire Knight's Greatsword has the same fast R1 chain, but with the Zweihander's poking R2, which is pretty sweet.
It is also lighter, infusable, and can get some great AR out of the Flame Art infusion. This makes it possibly the better pick if you want to lean more into Faith with a Collosal Sword build.
That said, I prefer Godslayer's Greatsword overall. The unique AoW' blackflame effect hits like a truck, and the style points can't be understated. Still, it's up to personal preference.

This is a story about Firelink Great Sword.
Even after the Age of Dark, it still couldn't stop to burn, bringing the tiniest shine in an age where humans greedness, coldness and selfishness dominated.
To make sure that it could still link the fire, the sword needed to absorb a bit of the dark, so it could understand the Dark nature.
Once it was ready to shine, one star fell on Earth.
With it, gold came. It was a whole new shine, and people seemes to be hypnotised by it.
Firelink Great Sword knew that this new "order" wasn't right, so it decided to evolve to fight against gold.
It became bigger, and thanks to have absorbed Dark, the Dark Fire arose.
But, the sword wasn't trully understood and some occultists started to revenue it as a devil.
But then, a person, who lost the shine in the eyes discovered the Firelink Great Sword.
That person knew what this weapon was.
Together, they killed the outer god that was trying to dominate Earth, and piece was finally done.
With this, the fire was linked again, and the Moon was finally together to make the perfect ballance.
Because Firelink Great Sword and The One Who Lost Grace knew that too much light and heat could still break people's belief.
And having only the Moon would make people lonely, cold and fearing death.
Now they have a comfortable warmth, time to think and act, and to try to have their own life, without an alien hypnotising them.
Thank you, Firelink Great Sword and The One Who Lost Grace. You two are the true heroes of the new Age of Fire and Night.

To provide more clarity on this weapon and it's skill:
Ash of war damage is calculated based off your 1H MV/AR even if you are two handing your weapon.*
This is nearly identical for most colossal swords but to provide context to Queen's Black Flame, If the first 1hR1 in the R1 chain = 100 damage and does 12 stance damage, the damage values for some important attacks relative to this with stance damage in brackets are
1h uncharged R2 = 125 (12 stance damage)
1h jumping R2 = 130 (20 stance damage)
1h charged R2 = 165 (30 stance damage)
1h second charged R2 = 170 (30 stance damage)
Now let's come to Queen's black flame, using the same 1hr1 = 100 damage MV system.
The 1st attack ( immediately setting the blade ablaze) = 75 (5 stance damage)
The 2nd attack (sweeping slash from the same/above first L2 press) = 220 (15 stance damage)
The 3rd attack (follow up from second L2 press) = 230 (20 STANCE DAMAGE)
Assuming all hits connect with the first L2 press you get a total of 220 + 75 (295) damage and 20 stance damage.
Assuming all 3 hits connect with the follow up L2 press, you get a total of 220 + 75 + 230 (505 damage) and 40 stance damage.
However, it rarely works out that you actually do literally 5x the damage of an R1 or 3x of a charged R2 from the three attacks as the numbers indicate because unlike flat damage of 505 in an attack which reduced based on enemy defense/resistances only once, 3 separate attacks adding up to 505 have portions deducted for that each time which is exacerbated by split scaling. It still does damage in the vicinity of that if all 3 hits connect on a less slash/fire resistant enemy and even otherwise, is flat out one of the most bonkers skills in the game in terms of raw damage potential.
The stance damage of 40 is easier achieved with quicker ashes of war like square off or lion's claw but at least there is a strong stance reward for landing all 3 hits.

Legitimately one of the best weapons in the game. Truly a weapon forged to slay gods.

At 60 Dex and base stats to wield, this weapon +10 weighs 17.5 zaki does 822 damage 2 handed.
At 54 STR and base dex to wield the heavy GUGS +10 weighs 23 zaki has an AR of 826 two handed.
At 80 str, the heavy GUGS +10 weighs 23 zaki and does 884 damage AR 2 handed.
At 60 dex and 40 str, this weapon +10 does 876 damage 2 handed.
GUGS is still objectively better for pve due to lion’s claw hyper armour but this weapon is faster, much lighter, keeps up damage wise hardly looses any AR if one handed so conducive to shields and much like a lot of somber weapons, looses less than like 10% if you invest into strength or faith instead of dex after 40ish dex. The split scaling is 1) fire which is usually good damage and 2) pretty small portion if you invest into dex.
Also the post style of reading movesets to position yourself to detonate the nuke of a weapon art is so much more fun than lion’s claw imo.

If you land it, this beauty's AoW can shred bosses up to NG7 (I haven't gone further) with the right buffs and stats. A weapon that lives up to her name
- Anonymous
This thing shreds so much because you can now trade on the aow and first hit can do 3-4k
- Anonymous
Very curious weapon... Dex/Fai, as niche as it is, in a class overwhelmed with heavy str weapons. Still super viable with two-handed talisman, though not quite as stat efficient as other colossal, or even more basic greatswords which scale with Str/Fai.

This is very much a Dex weapon more than a Faith weapon. Up to 80 Dex, this weapon gets more AR per point of Dex than Faith.
However, if you're adhering to a level limit and are looking to spend levels as efficiently as possible, it's worth considering staying at the 60 Dex softcap and instead putting those 20 levels into Faith. From the minimum Faith requirement of 20 to 40, this weapon gains 37 fire AR, while increasing Dex from 60 to 80 yields 44 physical AR. A loss of only 7 AR, in exchange for being able to use most of the buff incantations in the game and greatly increasing the effectiveness of Faith scaling weapon skills. The main downsides of this is decreased Keen infusion effectiveness, and 40 Faith being decent, but not quite optimal, for Flame Art and Sacred infusions. This stat spread should be good for other Dex + Faith scaling focused uninfusable weapons though.
Here's some observations I made while comparing Godslayer's GS with the Fire Knight's GS because that seems to be a common topic of discussion. With both 80/20 and 60/40 Dex/Faith stat spreads Godslayer's Sword has better total AR than both Keen and Flame Art infused FKGS. At 40/60 Flame Art FKGS has considerably higher AR, to be exact 83 AR while at minimum Strength requirements for each. And this should be obvious but I'll mention it anyway, for builds with 80 Faith or 80 Strength and minimal Dex, Flame Art and Fire infused FKGS is a far better option than Godslayer's Sword.

Is the Godslayer's Greatsword skill getting buffed by the Godfrey icon?
- Anonymous
Honestly im a bit disappointed at the lack of black flame in the dlc, and that something stole this things moveset
- Anonymous
Argue with me all you like but manage to land it and this weapon's AoW is the ultimate power in this game. Period.
- Anonymous
This one and any weapon that can use Black Flame Tornado are trully a God Slayer.
Easily 3k to 4k damage on a single weapon art on Elden Beast.
Or a solid 2k on Radagon when you have a tiny chance, but still having guts to get hit after using the skill.

Hyperarmor during weapon art finally fixed after almost a year. I love this weapon once again.

Level 37 prophet, got myself this and the zwei, time to run some invasions.

Unbelievably good now that the skill is better. So fast and strong.
- Anonymous
Arguably the best overall of the Non-dlc colossal, It deals excellent damage, has a terrifying L2, is almost as fast as a Zwei, is relatively light for it's class, has respectable reach . It can even be aquired relatively early if you're willing to subject yourself to the overtuned godskin bastard.
absolutely worth the headache of getting it without being level 80+
Not sure how it stacks up against the DLC swords, having not gotten there yet, but as far as base game goes this thing is your best friend.
- Anonymous
The best thing about this sword is using the second L2 attack. Good luck with that, as with even 100+ poise you will get knocked out of the animation by most enemies
- Anonymous
Is this good if i don't raise dex above the requirement? hoping the weapon art only scales with faith so i can use it in my int/fth build
- Anonymous
people are saying this is outclassed by the new fire knight gs, i beg to disagree. this thing has absolutely nuts damage on a pure dex build and the ash of war is very good for pve, and situationally excellent for pvp now that it got buffed. not to mention its one of the coolest, most beautiful looking weapons in the game. dont sleep on this thing.
- Anonymous
this thing is crazy it got buffed at some point i guess it destroys everything
- Anonymous
Sadly, this was powercrept in e v e r y metric by the Fire Knight's Greatsword.
Statswise, the FKGS is lighter, longer and gets >5% more damage (>15% with the passive). They get the same moveset apart from the R2 which is a overhead slam on the GSGS and a forward lunging poke on the FKGS; the latter being arguably better. The FKGS has lower requirements. It does not come with Destined Death, but it's infusable; putting Flaming Strike yields an arguably better version of the Queen's Black Flame.

Spiral craftsmanship is extra interesting now, given the Hornsents' invocation of divine spirals.

I really liked using flame and fire spells in the beginning of the game. Didn’t work well for me because I already invest in dex and arc for a bleed build. I had to drop them and my flame infused swords cause while they were fun, didn’t fit my current spread.
I recently got this sword and noticed that it actually scales WITH DEX! Is this the only flame related weapon that scales with Dex? Now I love alternating between with and bloodhound when I want more smoovement
- Anonymous
The stance damage is lower than the Zweihander. I can stagger the big misbegotten with Zweihander but can't with this sword. Still a great weapon
- Anonymous
dont care how good or bad this weapon is thing is just so damn fun to use.

Finally back by my side, my first favorite sword. We are so back godslayer bros

Scaling order: Dex > Fai > Str. Not sure about the soft-caps though (to optimize AR equip the weapon before re-spec and watch the AR as you adjust your stats).

this thing looks at me like the green goblin mask every time I try a different build. I literally recommend deleting it from your game or else this will be the only weapon you ever use.

I genuinely forgot how scary this thing was, with its greatsword like movement and the damage of a UGS. Now that the AOW is fixed, this thing is going to be the new meta. Calling it now.

Hopelessly outclassed by giga-flamberge in about 2 days. Will live in our hearts forever.

Honestly, this is one of my favorite Colossals in the game. Fast swings, black flame damage, and excellent posture damage. Yeah, the skill is slow, but just pop an Endure, and watch it melt anything in front of you. Whenever I break stances with it, I just go for the AoW instead of critting for such a badass and satisfying kill. And of course, there's buffs to make the skill even better.
Is it the best? Nah. Greatsword probably takes that spot. But damn, is it fun.
- Anonymous
Idk what people are even talking about. That skill its extremely handy and can be used on any bigger window (which by experience, they are far more common that people think) and especially against larges group of enemies, very risk against reward I must say, which I love. Fire damage that stuns some enemies, also having a very decent damage, and of course, a great posture dmg. And that badass name and lore? ... Love at first sight I must say.
- Anonymous
The sword itself is great but the skill is nearly worthless in my opinion. It's slow, close range, has ZERO hyperarmour so using it is very difficult, and only does marginally higher damage than a charged heavy attack - which does have hyperarmour. i would understand having all those weaknesses if the skill had nuke levels of damage, but it doesn't
- Anonymous
Colossal sword scaling primary after dex with slow, but powerful AoW, weird combination. Not bad, but I thought I'll like it more. Sadly, bringing two fire weapons can be a missed oportunity, so Rykard Sword suits me more and this one is probably gonna be 3-4 choice
- Anonymous
A weapon which on paper should be very good yet ends up being absolutely terrible
- Anonymous
Fun fact: if you use a fully charged Noble Presence, you can land the Weapon Art on your enemy as they'll be knocked down directly in front of you. Of course it only works on knight-sized targets, but handy for chunking big damage since you should be carrying blackflame incantations already like a true godskin if you're using this.
- Anonymous
I don't know what they did in 1.10.1 but this has worse poise on AOW than Blasphemous blade lol
why even bother

Soo... unrelated to this weapon but couldn't really think of anywhere better to put this comment. Trying to make some sense out of the placement of blackflame monks, godskin apostles and godskin nobles, i have this impression their leader, the gloam eye queen, has something to do with the carian royals. There's an apostle at the divine tower of caelid and dominula (where milicent will be) and a noble in volcano manor and the divine tower of liurnia. The only ones i found obnoxiously out of place are in the spiritcaller cave, but those are just spirits. I kinda understand there would be godskins in farum azula since it was maliketh who defeated them, but a duo wasn't really needed. As for the godskin tome found in stormveil? Well, it could perfectly be spoils of war, godrick pillaged as much as he could.

The 1st quick swipe for the weapon art consumes no fp and can be rolled out of. Useful for baiting/conditioning other players or getting a quick hit in wheb they run at you.

I don't know what everyone is talking about I think it's really cool we have a colossal sword that scales off DEX, Elden Ring is awesome because of stuff like this. Hell I wish the DEX scaling was better on it.
- Anonymous
My first playthrough was int and I struggled getting past the draconic tree sentinel for hours before eventually resorting to just using poison mist. My second playthrough was faith so i picked up this and the black knife as soon as I could, and I got him first try. 10/10 highly recommend.

Weapon lore said Gloam-eyed queen using this sword fight Maliketh and lose.
of course she was , Maliketh can even take a nap time before he wake up and dodge this thing AoWs.
- Anonymous
While the standard R1 chain works well with the Twinblade Talisman, you can also chain the skill into the R1 chain. It's not OP in any way, but it's fun.
It's a great weapon for boss summons. Crits give plenty of time for the skill, the scaled up boss HP makes the skill more effective, and it's not going to overshadow host.
- Anonymous
Dex scale is pretty bad , the most thing that make UGS rising is 2 handed it and Dex not get x1.5 bonus like Str.
at least Dex scale should be A instead B
- Anonymous
This thing's skill hits like a truck; everyone knows that. Everyone ALSO knows how slow it is. The unfortunate truth is, there are simply other, faster, less riskier alternatives if you really want to be efficient in terms of big charged weapon skills.
- Anonymous
The skill takes about 2 business days to go off.
One thing is for sure, you're not hitting anything with it.
- Anonymous
Fun fact the fire damage visual effect from this sword is unique. The normal r1 and r2 attacks will leave black flame instead of the red flame that even the black flame tornado aow does. It doesn't have any actual effect just a visual but I thought it was cool

Everything about this swords’ lore yells out LEGENDARY, and yet, here we are, scuffed weapon that is somehow less famous than the Grafted sword.
I went with the fextra tank build for this weapon and it worked wonders with the WA. Just power through everything. No fancy strategies, just delete everything with L2. Felt awesome.
