Nanaya's Torch is a Torch in Elden Ring. It is found in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC next to Nanaya's corpse. The Nanaya's Torch scales primarily with StrengthDexterityIntelligence and Faith and is a good Weapon for all-around builds.

A torch made by attaching a dying flame of frenzy to a small spinal column.

In a distant land, in an age long past, was born a man who failed to become the Lord of Frenzied Flame. All that remains of him is cradled gently by Nanaya.

This thing is hot garbage. Just tried it for the first time against a vulgar militiaman (humanoid). Blew my entire mana bar and it did next to nothing to the mob lol.

When you hold it up with your left hand and run, your upper body goes stiff. Makes it look like you're gliding.

Not sure why, but I feel like this torch has a very pleasent shine in the dark compared to the other torches.

In sometimes, the other torches seems to not be so bright, but this one seems to shine better...

And it can shine even more if you use the weapon skill.

...Or am I just mad and can't see the truth?

          • Anonymous

I was hoping for some sort of madness mace/hammer for the DLC, but this seems close enough. I did some testing, and it looks like it can get to 500 damage without buffs. Do you think just bashing with it would be worth it, or will the torch moveset be to unreliable?

            • Anonymous

Honestly the nerf was depressing and beyond unnecessary.

The rapid madness buildup honestly fit a unique niche to allow an otherwise useless weapon you’d never use in pvp with a dogsh!t moveset to actually shine having a new reliable madness attack.

              CURSE YOU MIKE WAZOWSKI!!!

              • It's a DLC item, and the absolute lowest starting INT on any class is 7, meaning at most you'd need 7 levels to actually use this. But nah, somehow that little nonsense amount of levels for someone who's reached the DLC is just too much to ask for so everybody is gonna whine and cry about it forever apparently. FML.

Min maxers gotta hate the dlc weapons. I don't blame them since yeah the int requirement isn't that significant but it's just a punch in the gut since the frenzy items and only spell in the dlc are just bad. Plus no lord of frenzy flame headpiece. I'd still wear it if it reduced all resistances by -10.

                    • Anonymous

Why does From need to feel the need to have you level up Intelligence with this item, and the Frenzyflame Perfume Bottle? Need I remind everyone: Frenzied Flame incantations are ONLY leveled & boosted through the Faith stat! Am I missing something here?

                      • Anonymous

This was my go-to for dealing with meta slaves in the arena, but now look at it. It's pathetic. There was no need to nerf this, literally no one was complaining about it. And the sleep shotgun crossbow got nerfed too... What is From doing...

                        • Anonymous

Madness damage got nerfed to the ground, it’s a shame, but I guess a random touch shouldn’t be more viable then the head of the lord of frenzy flame it self.

This is lowkey one of the best things that could have happend to us madness enjoyer.

The weapon art has insane madness buildup. I've been running a madness perfume build with a few incantations but it just outperforms everything else

                              • Anonymous

As an avid madness user, this is just absoutely brutal. There are counterplays and it ain't as broken as say, the sleep crossbow, but the inflicted madness compared to the ash of war's speed still makes it a bit dirty. From should just switch the amount of buildup with Midra's Frenzied Flame. Would make sense, and won't make this actually useless while nerfing it a bit.

Either I'm crazy or the melee attacks on this have absurdly low range. As a Torch PvPer™ this thing can't ever seem to hit people with it's melees, even compared to the other torches. I don't get it

                                  • Anonymous

why are people using this in limgrave when invading? we all know you didn't get it legitimately on your level 10 character

                                    • Anonymous

Unlike other torches, this one has an aesthetic error when you raise the torch you get frozen, maybe it's just a visual error but I hope they fix it since it looks great.

Why do people always cry about the cool bugs and then get them removed? It's an intended interaction for weapon buffs to effect this, the death blight is only good in pvp anyway so I dont see the problem

                                        • Anonymous

                                          Some observations:
                                          - The handle seems to be a full spinal column, rather than part of one, as it's tipped with tailbone. It would is a small spine, belonging to a small person.
                                          - The torch's description says the man was born specifically to be a Lord of Frenzied Flame, but failed, and Nanaya now 'cradles' his remains gently.
                                          - Nanaya was with child in the portrait. She is not anymore.

                                          Dark stuff, Miyazaki.

The blight glitch is patched out (no more IGN's Deadly Sin 2.0, thank god), but something about it still seems busted; it procs Madness super fast the first time you hit another player with it. I expect the new invader meta (assuming GS of Damnation ever gets fixed) will be quick madness procs with the torch to stun and then hitting them with colossals or spells like Placidusax's Ruin.

                                            • Anonymous

Do you even need to upgrade this? Does +9 or +10 make a meaningful difference in damage on the AoW or is this purely for proccing madness?

                                              • Anonymous

Currently bugged and applies the buff of your right hand weapon. You know what this means.

                                                DEATHBLIGHT TORCH GO BRRRRRRRRRRR
Funny to think that Eclipse Shotel would unironically be less broken if it had innate deathblight build-up instead of a buff

                                                • Anonymous

When used with in tandem with the Deathblight buffed Eclipse Shotel, the ash of war, "Feeble Lord's Frenzied Flame" will also build up Deathblight alongside Madness.

This thing has 51 guard boost?? I mean its not good for guarding with but thats pretty good for a burning spine.

Was anybody able to go to the area behind the Manse? The map shows the forest extends there with no possible way to reach.

                                                      • Anonymous

                                                        Some better directions:

Closest grace is Midra's Library. You can reach the platform balcony by jumping across from the top of the bookshelves, but you need to have already moved the one bookshelf from pulling the lever in the same room. As a point of reference the platform you're trying to get to is directly above the big chungus inquisitor.

An interesting lore observation is that Nanaya's corpse is fully intact and fully dressed (rather than just being a generic shriveled gray corpse), and her garb is reminiscent of Hyetta and the Finger Maidens.

                                                        • Anonymous

Possible lore implications, I see 2 alternatives here:
                                                          A) Nanaya was a Frenzied Flame cultist (notice her eyes are covered, just as Hyetta's are) from some other Land who met Midra and convinced him to become the Lord of Frenzied Flame, and for this transgression they have been punished by Hornsent inquisition (who despise Flame of Frenzy as it is heretical for them)
                                                          B) Midra was condemned for some other transgression, and during his unending torment Nanaya in desperation resorted to Flame of Frenzy worship and found this torch which she held onto as a relic

                                                          • Anonymous

Does the description mean to say that Nanaya is the spine...?
Or stranger yet, the Greatsword of Damnation

                                                            • Anonymous

This absolute BLASTS people in PVP. If you manage to get right in someone's face, whether with endure or good timing, and start this weapon's ash of war up, you will almost certainly instantly proc madness on them. Also tracks amazingly up close, capable of dealing with people panic rolling easily. Its only downsides are the comparatively low damage on everything, and the necessity for close range combat to take advantage of the proc speed. Don't knock it til you try it, it takes some skill to use effectively.

                                                              Not great for PvE.

Not bad. Sure, the damage is pretty terrible and the stamina cost is high, but for a measly 3FP per tick you can stagger beasts, knock down flyers, and mildly inconvenience other tarnished. As far as torches go, this thing might as well be royalty.
