Spirit Glaive is a Halberd in Elden Ring. It is a brand-new Halberd in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. The Spirit Glaive scales primarily with Strength, Dexterity, and Intelligence and is a good Weapon for INT players, and is related to the Spirit Sword, sharing the same Skill, which is the Rancor Slash.
Sharp blade sculpted into a twisted shape. A glaive that has seen many years of use in the gravesite.
Said to serve as a medium for communion with spirits.

They really goofed with all the spirit weapons and rancor/ghost flame weapons. It could have been a really fun alternative way to play int builds but they're so under powered they're just not worth using. Maybe if they had made a talisman to boost ghost flame it would have been viable.

These could have been so much more. These could have been Faith/Int scaling weapons for Necromancer builds. Instead, they're just mediocre as hell and serve no purpose other than having cool-looking L2s. Sad.

Death sorcery deserves a dlc addition of its own to make up for all the mistakes in the base and sote game in regards to the magic and weapons. Can’t even make a decent death build without being rl380 to invest in the stats to make up for the lack of damage and accuracy.

So why should I use this instead of, say, regular glaive with Black Flame Tornado, which I could also afford?
- Anonymous
This look so ****ing good but its actual garbage, such a shame that another potential gone into waste

I was so excited that we were getting a death rancor weapon and wow, this is absolute garbage. It has no faith scaling, and its int scaling might as well not even exist. This is primarily a dex weapon, more dex would get you the most damage, unbelievable

Why not just make rancor slash a magic ash of war instead of making a shite weapon with crap scaling? What is from thinking?
This weapon is so utterly dogshit I use it just out of spite. They could've at least added a bit frostbite buildup. And wtf is this split damage? This is basically a dex weapon with a bit of magical dmg, like Death Poker, and yet Poker gets frostbite and actual scaling with unique moveset and Int - scaling AoW to justify Int investment, while this is... What it is. Necromancer's life is hard in Lands Between

When I found this I was simultaneously hopeful and disappointed. It looked so cool in an unassuming way - like I knew it wouldn't be a big paradigm shift in buildmaking but I thought it could be fun. But as a death weapon with horrendous scalings I was certain it would actually be terrible. And it sort of is. Not exactly top meta in PvP and is seldom more effective than a cold Glaive with sword dance. But landing the full L2 does feel good. Just bear in mind that spirit slash costs much more FP than sword dance, so, spam at your own peril. I can't really explain or justify my fondness for this weapon but it's nice.

I'm redoing a whole build around this weapon which means a new game

The AoW can true combo if used in close range, Gigasthiccas confirmed it in his recent stream reviewing the patch notes

What they should've done was add a new death infusion type that removes Str/Dex scaling and adds Int+Fth scaling
- Anonymous
Why are all the death weapons quality + int but all the sorceries are int + faith
My suggestion: Imbue the weapon with ghostflame (frost buildup) after using the AoW for 30 seconds. Then it'll at least have a niche
- Anonymous
How is the strength and int scaling both D at 0.54 and I see literally +1 returns for every int investment but I'm seeing +2/+3 for each strength investment. They need to fix this weapon.

So many cool death themed weapons that are either weak af or have zero scaling synergy with each other, at least this one's a halberd ig
- Anonymous
Was excited at first, used it, no longer excited.
Has the spin charged heavy and the rancors from the L2 disappear before doing anything most of the time, not that they do much when hitting though.

It's look great but has surprisingly low damage. I hoped that perhaps the AoW would therefore be a bit better to compensate but... nah its just been a waste of Somber stones. With a +9 at 70 int, 45 dex I don't even reach 700 AR, while something faster like a moonveil gets close to 900 at +9 with much better WA on top. It's a scam. Use the curved sword version instead and pair it with a Wing of Astel or something.

I don't think there's a single Int weapon in the DLC that doesn't suck.
Why are the pretty ones always so dumb? Is there any rancor weapon that isn't severely underpowered?
- Anonymous
I used this to farm the grave scythe, so its flavor text is now true beyond doubt
- Anonymous
What's the point of making it, if nobody will ever use it due to such a low dmg and inconveniet requirements and scaling?
298+88 AR and D C D
Meanwhile the Halberd - the most standard, average weapon in the game, available even with a starting class, on magic infusion:
240+240 AR and B scaling in int.
266+266 and C - swordspear
but hey, I can cast 5 very slow and weak skulls with it, so it balances 350 less AR

how am i supposed to use any of the death/rancor weapons in a rancor build when all of the weapons are INT only and all the spells are INT/FAI?
- Anonymous
Really should’ve either had frostbite, a unique follow up on the AoW (which is just Sword Dance with Rancor Spirits) or a unique heavy attack. As it stands the AoW is fine since Sword Dance is a good AoW anyway but, it’s a little sad it’s just recycled with no useful uniqueness. All the rancor spirits do is add a little flair.

Start at the Charo’s Hidden Grave SoG and walk through the arch to the northwest, turn right directly after and take the path that ramps up north, follow it to where it meets the edge of the Gravesite Plains and it will be on a grave

After playing around with this, it has become one of my new favorite weapons. It has the Nightrider Glaive moveset, but I think it has a different (but mechanically similar) R2. It scales mostly with DEX it seems, and the AOW is actually pretty decent despite what other people are saying. It's like a slightly faster Double Slash with projectiles that further increase poise damage on big guys, and allows for you to use it to deal with crowds.
If I wanted another frostbite machine I'd just use the ones we have in the base game.

I'm assuming this isnt in the early upper region and instead in the lands you can see from the cliff?

More of a dex weapon than an intelligence one. When fully upgraded with 50 int it has less than 150 magical damage in total. Maybe the ash of war exclusively scales with it or something though
- Anonymous
At +10, Str and Int stay D while Dex goes up to C...Which is very close to Death Poker, but with a worse Ash of War.
But since we have the ash of war from death's poker that we can move around, all of these death weapons seem inferior to just infusing. Such a shame.

The death stuff in SotE is so disappointing. Copy & Paste Death's Poker skill as an AoW, two weapons with the same generic rancorcall weapon art, and only one spell that matches the ghostflame aesthetic.

Wish this would have frostbite build-up as a passive effect.

Despite it being INT, I'd actually use this if it wasn't trash, purely because it looks awesome
