Flowerstone Gavel is a Hammer in Elden Ring. It was added with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. The Flowerstone Gavel scales primarily with Strength, Dexterity and Arcane and can be obtained from completing the Dragon Communion Priestess questline.
Weapon of the Dragon Communion priestess.
A dragonstone hammer resembling an ancient flower.
The four petals and the flower's core are all sharp, ending in points, and are capable of dealing heavy damage to dragons.
Where to Find Flowerstone Gavel in Elden Ring
The Flowerstone Gavel weapon can be found at the following location:
- The Dragon Communion Priestess drops this item at the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion after defeating Bayle The Dread and not giving her Thiollier's Concoction beforehand. [See SOTE Elden Ring DLC Map]

this weapon with appr set is devastanting, just charge the skill and fries everything, bosses and mobs alike
- Anonymous
I just understood why this mace deals Pierce instead of Strike.
Bayle has no special weaknesses, elemental, status, or any type of physical EXCEPT for pierce. This is the case for a lot of other dragons too, especially the ancient ones, who usually have resistances to everything but pierce. Add in the damage bonus v. dragons it inherently has, and this weapon was built for dragon slaying.
- Anonymous
I switch to ARC build halfway through the DLC and suddenly I'm finding tons of ARC weapons. Everything's coming up Millhouse. Honestly can't even decide which one to use with so many choices.
- Anonymous
You CAN use the skill WITHOUT the weapon's requirements! Deals garbage damage and consumes 50% more stamina, but the stamina cost is low so 50% more is still acceptable for a single cast, and it applies the debuff normally! So you can use this for your dragon cult builds without investing into arcane
Will literally NEVER use this because it requires sacrificing wife (cardinal sin that makes God hate you)

Fire: Strength and Faith for either Infusion, has a Seal that purposefully scales with both, many Somber options that scale with either or even both stats, lots of Incantations that do Fire damage, even a handful of Magma Sorceries which are all decent.
Magic: Primarily Intelligence, some Intelligence Dexterity and Intelligence Strength hybrid weapons, it's what a majority of Sorceries deal as their damage type, even a few Intelligence Faith hybrid options like the Death Sorceries.
Holy: Primarily Faith, but there are a few Intelligence Faith weapons and spells. Sacred infusion and many Somber weapons are pure Faith though for some reason, this damage type feels very strange considering it's the replacement for Dark and that are primarily a Hybrid stat in DS3, and it feels half assed here.
Lightning: Pure Dexterity for weapon infusions due to lacking a "Flame Art" equivalent infusion, the base game Somber weapons are all Physical leaning towards either Dexterity or Quality, precisely 2 "Faith scaling" Lightning weapons added with the DLC that primarily do Physical damage and scale with Physical stats, Incantations scale with the corresponding seal but Gravel Stone boosts many Lightning Incantations and only scales with Faith (it isn't a Hybrid Seal like Clawmark is) and Incantations have Faith requirements meaning you really want Faith, but then there is this weapon which scales with Arcane and boosts Lightning damage dealt, meaning you want to use it on a Faith Arcane Hybrid build using the Dragon Communion Seal... meaning I guess Bayle's Incantations? Which are split Lightning Fire damage? You could choose to forgo the damage boost on Gravel Stone and just meat minimum Faith requirements for your Lightning Incantations, but you are going to be a really high level by the end unless you don't care about the damage of the Gavel itself, meaning you'd only want the debuff for a Pure Faith build with a splash of Arcane for a few Dragon Communion and/or Blood Incantations and to meet the minimum requirements of this for PvE. Lightning is by far the most scuffed damage type in this game, no wonder they decided to keep that whole "standing in water/rain boosts Lightning damage" thing and made Lightning Defense scale with no stats, otherwise this damage type would suck ass.

As someone that has never enjoyed fighting dragons, this weapon is a godsend.
- Anonymous
Let me get this straight, ill get this dragon-killing mace AFTER killing a legendary dragon?
- Anonymous
This thing is unironically op, I first timed many of the "hard" dlc bosses with three talismans and without shard of Alexander. It deals a ****load of damage, really fast, and has a quite the range. I am afraid to know what this thing is capable of in a full damage build.
- Anonymous
Despite only having C scaling in arcane, this thing does the same damage as occult mace on my dragon communion build with minimal strength, while also doing pierce damage and having nuclear orbit laser skill
- Anonymous
If you're a faith build and just want lightning debuff just get base stats for this. It absolutely wrecks **** on a dragon communion build though. None of the lightning spells have a super high faith requirement so you can easily Go full lightning caster with the dragon communion seal.

Lightning faith incels complaining about min maxing, meanwhile str/arc chads finally eating this dlc

This weapon *by itself* is total garbage
It has pierce damage without the morning star moveset
The ash of war buffs lightning damage but nerfs itself
And it’s literally impossible to deal lightning damage with this thing normally
HOWEVER:literally don’t use it by itself, pair it with lightning spells and a different lightning weapon and it’ll actually be worth a ****
- Anonymous
why on god's green earth doesn't the dragon greatclaw have this ash of war??? They could have done what they did with moonrithyl's troll sword or the bonny butchering knife.
- Anonymous
i really wish fextralife used the internal damage scaling values instead of just the corresponding letters.
- Anonymous
Hahaha, that floor tile 5 meters away from the boss wont know what hit it

Funny story: my fastest bayle kill was on a 3 player coop. a dragon priest cosplayer used this and my pure fth build took chunks out of his health with ancient dragon lightning strike, they doing the same thing. I love this weapon, yet I have not used it, because arcane builds scare me with their complexity. This is tempting me to start a new character

Dragon cult incantations - require faith
Bolt of Granssax/DK Cragblade - require dex
This - strength/arcane
Lightning build have hard time being fully optimized, unless you are level 400 of course
- Anonymous
CONFIRMED for PVE:
AOW might be bugged as it still applies lightening debuff without having to meet the requirements.
Charged: increase TOTAL lightning dmg output by 14.5%.
Uncharged: by 11%.
Tested using bolt of gransax and was consistent at multiple testing locations.
- Anonymous
You can increase the percentage of the lighting damage negation debuff by charging the skill.
- Anonymous
Actual example of an underrated weapon. This thing is pretty good.
- Anonymous
For those wondering how to use ,going split 50-50 between faith and arcane will net you similarly high incantation scaling while allowing you to use all dragon cult incantations, from my testing 50fth60arc has similar incant.scal to 30fth80arc, so pump up both use the aow, switch to dragon communion seal with gravel on offhand and profit
- Anonymous
Ppl here don't realize that you can do 36/50 fth arc builds and use dragon communion seal and weapon and cast spells from dragon seal
- Anonymous
Feels amazing to use, looks great too, also im glad its ARC and not FAI, go min requirement for the spell you want and then pump ARC, the aow still deals great damage and you'll nuke with spells, plus faith builds already got a million weapons in the DLC,
- Anonymous
be wary that giving her the Thiollier's Concoction makes her not drop the mace nor her heart. She only dropped the spell and her ashes.
- Anonymous
scales with arcane but lowers target’s lightning negation, and the only arcane spells to do lightning damage are Bayle’s. Just whose side is the priestess on?
- Anonymous
Why the F is this arcane scaling. There is literally one arcane spell that deals a hybrid lightning fire damage (One of Bayle's incantations). This would have been amazing as a faith weapon that had lightning on it. I sometimes question Fromsoft with their scaling choices.
- Anonymous
My brothers. You don't need arcane to use the weapon art. Death Knight set. Invest in Faith. Keep Gavel in your pocket. Lead with the weapon art, switch back to your main weapon. Rain down the power of the ancients with Ancient Lightning Dragon Strike, Knights Lightning Spear, Death Lightning, and Fortissax's Lightning Spear. Godfrey Icon, Lightning Scorpion Charm, Alexander Shard, (4th to fit your main weapon or buff defense OR Blue Dew). Physique can be anything that fits for you. Right now I'm running Great Katana (quality) and boosting it with Vykes Dragonbolt and Blood Tax; This lets me use the Bloodsucking Tear, negating the hp drain slightly, and either Lightning tear or Thorny Tear (4th talisman being RWSI). Bloodloss doesn't happen often b/c it's not meant to be a main source of damage. ALDS can hit HARD, so can Death Lightning. BOTH have the same issue- Reliability. WHEN they hit (NG+) if I don't flat KILL a boss (base game) I'm doing around half or more to most bosses in the DLC when that ALDS hits after buffs. I really like the Great Katana for running light attacks into a followup light attack since they are the same and are both poke attacks for pierce. You can't really 'trade' hits, but this build is meant to play mid range and try to find those windows to drop ALDS. Poise damage from KLS if you keep at it can break posture and lead to ALDS. Running 8 crimson 6 cerulean flasks. Heal from afar recovers around 65-70%. Im using one Gravel stone seal right now; this build could be better probably.

would be cool if that it scale more with dex than strength like the scepter of the all knowing and since this seems to be meant as a caster weapon

Lvl 150 build with flowerstone gavel and dragon cult incantations :
Starter class : Prophet
55 Vigor
30 Mind (less if you don't want to cast too many lightning spells)
15 Endurance (more isn't needed for med. roll)
14 Str
18 Dex
30 Faith (softcap of the Dragon Communion Seal + Golden Vow)
60 Arc
Taslimans :
- Lightning Scorpion Charm (+12%)
- Radagon Icon / Shard of Alexander
- Godfrey Icon
- Canvas Talisman (+8%)
Physick : lightning tear (+20%) + Faith tear (or any other tear that suits your playstyle)
Seal : Dragon Communion Seal will give you around 340 incant scaling, use the Gravel Stone seal in your offhand if you want even more damage (+15%). Essentially, you take advantage of the Arc scaling of the Flowerstone Gavel to also cast powerful lightning incantations. This circumvents the scaling issue of lightning weapons (with dex) and the scaling of lightning incantations (with faith).
Equip the Death Knight Set for 8% more dmg on all ancient dragon cult incantations and skills. The Flowerstone Gavel's skill will decrease the target's Lightning Resistance by 23% uncharged and 30% fully charged for 20 seconds, making all the lightning spells hit like a truck.
The hammer does Piercing Damage and the incantations do Lightning Damage, in a nutshell this build has the two best damage types in the game. Enjoy !
- Anonymous
ahh yes, if it isn't my str/arc scaling on a weapon with an aow that's best fit for a dex/fai build. No sense, none at all.
- Anonymous
You already have to be a high enough level to make dragon builds viable and weapons like these send mixed messages.
A strength / arcane scaling weapon for a boost to dex / faith scaling attacks (lightning).
Can fromsoft decide whether to scale dragon **** with faith or arcane already? This stupid middle ground is giving us the worst of all worlds and lightning infusions not having any faith scaling is plenty of a punch in the gut.
My playstyle before getting this: Gravel Stone Seal in left hand, main melee weapon in right hand.
My playstyle after: Main melee weapon in left hand, Flowerstone Gavel in right hand.

want to like this but the aiming on the aow is so clunky for whatever reason, will sometimes just not hit the enemy and veer off to the side
- Anonymous
in arena pvp this has broken aim. When locked it aims at max range thus always landing waaaaay behind opponent.
- Anonymous
I just made a fth/arc build to maximize this weapon with my dragon cult incants and it's great. 36 fth to meet min reqs for Knight's Lightning Spear (could go 46 if you really wanna use Fortissax's LS), 50-60 arc, and Dragon Communion Seal, which at these stats gives 333-343 incant scaling (at 50-60 arc, respectively), which is higher than the 318 scaling you get from gavel stone seal at 80 fth (318). You can then swap your mainhand to the gavel stone to get the 15% buff while casting. ADLS hits like an absolute freight train, and you don't have to do weird buff stacking or go full glass cannon to make it work like most ADLS builds.
- Anonymous
Love this thing but I've had the skill pull a Tibia's Summons and totally whiff against completely stationary locked on targets. Doesn't happen often but I've had it happen more than once.
- Anonymous
absolutely SLAUGHTERS rellana with the ash of war. oh my god.
- Anonymous
As a weapon for dragon cult/communion this thing sucks unless you're overleveled, as you'd need decent investments in strength, arcane and faith all to use it together with spells.
With minimum requirements though it makes for an excellent ash of war stick for dragon cult and dex lightning builds, 30% is insane. Especially when stacked with environmental bonuses. Too bad for the communion bros, no lightning breath for them
- Anonymous
Absolutely no idea why everyones confused/salty about it not being a faith weapon.
*Comes from the Grand alter of Dragon communion
*Gives Arcane a lightning option
*Does better AOW damage than it would boost knights lightning spear or any cult incatation & costs less
- Anonymous
If you’re using lightning incants In pvp you’re better off just running two gravel seals or casting with erdtree seal and an offhand gravel seal.
Gravelstone seal gives you +15%. Full charge hit on this thing is 17% in pvp and you need 14 str and 15 arc to use it.

Does the debuff from the AoW stack with greyoll's roar debuff?
- Anonymous
This weapon scaling is mad. If u spend points until u get no AR from it, at 81/81/80 you get 800+ AR as a 1 handed hammer. Just insane. Ng++ weapon for sure
- Anonymous

For some reason, you can cast the ash and still shoot lightning despite not meeting the arc requirement

Broken ash of war.
+10 wep, 70 arcane, 30 faith, some strength.
Godfrey's Icon, lightning scorpion charm, shard of alexander, and ritual sword talisman
Combine with lightning-shrouding cracked tear in your physique
10k damage at full charge, in ng3 against knight enemies. 1 shot
- Anonymous
So thats why they nerfed ancient dragon lightning strike... with this debuff and dragonpriest buff, you can make it even stronger than it was pre nerf
- Anonymous
doubt it really needs to be said for most of us, but for consistency's sake the "Can't be enchanted with Magic nor boosted by Consumables." line is missing
- Anonymous
... Scales with Arcane... Al dragon cult incants are FAITH SCALING ONLY! There are NO good Dragon communion weapons lol
- Anonymous
This weapon makes absolutely no sense and it’s all because of that weird out of place arcane scaling. Why is this clearly ANCIENT DRAGON weapon focus on arcane, the stat of dragon communion? In every other occasion the distinction between ancient dragon cult stuff being faith based and communion stuff being arcane based remains solid (except for bolt of gransax which weirdly has no faith or arcane and is pure dex) how are you even supposed to use the part about enemies taking more lightning damage on an arcane build which has no access to lightning? Such a confusing weapon
- Anonymous
This weapon should deal both physical and lightning damage on melee hits. Sure you can spam L2 or cast spells, but sometimes I just want to bonk things. I should be able to benefit off the lightning debuff if I'm using this to melee.
Changing the base ar to deal mixed damage or adding a temporary lightning buff on L2 cast would be good options.
- Anonymous
On pure arcane build, this thing is ridiculous. At 80 arc, it deals at least 3k damage if you manage to hit enemies' weak spots. You can just stay out of bosses' melee range and spam the ash of war. High damage, extra debuff. Remember to use Sacred bloody flesh for a free 10 arc for 30 secs iirc.
- Anonymous
Is it for Arc builds? Faith builds? Dex builds? Who the hell knows?
- Anonymous
Lightning scales with dex in the main game. Now it suddenly scales with faith and arcane? Make up your damn mind miyazaki
- Anonymous
Just commented about it not applying the debuff if you don't meet the arcane requirement. That was incorrect and it still seems visually apply the debuff.
- Anonymous
It seems like you can cast the AOW without the arcane requirement, but it won't apply the lightning negation debuff.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
This thing deserves the poke attacks wayyy more than the Morning Star or Gideon's scepter. Just LOOK at it!
- Anonymous
This is one of the best weapons in the DLC in my opinion, not speaking so much meta-wise but more that they actually put some thought into this one. Very handy AOW, pierce damage on a quick and stance-breaking Hammer moveset, good scaling even when you only invest in Arcane, and on top, a visual design that's nice to look at. Overall a solid weapon. I changed to a Faith/Arcane dragon build ever since I beat Bayle and this has been an amazing sidearm. Even at minimum requirements and 60 Arc you get a good 296 + 268 = 564 AR, plenty for saving some FP here and there.
- Anonymous
If you think this mini bolt of granssax is bad on a communion build, just because you can't get 100% effictiveness out of the ash, you're just ungrateful
- Anonymous
"The four petals and the flower's core are all sharp, ending in points, and are capable of dealing heavy damage to dragons."
So does this do more damage to dragons because its pierce? Or does it have some kinda special damage boost / dragon rending effect? If anyone is aware it'd be interesting to know.
- Anonymous
Fun weapon and fun build potential but sadly Vyke's dragonbolt doesn't work with this even though it would make sense.
- Anonymous
Lightning damage negation debuff? The priestess was completely clueless about what types of damage dragon communion spells do, could've checked the wiki at least
- Anonymous
Finally, a weapon for all of my arcane scaling dragon cult spells...wait
- Anonymous
The fact that this hammer does pierce damage automatically makes this hit like a truck. With the right talismans such as the spear talisman and build, this can provide great damage up close while having a good range option built in. Weird that str/arc got so many fun tools this dlc
- Anonymous
Somebody mentioned this already but when you are at specific distance the ash of war can miss the enemy by striking the dragonbolt behind them. This has happened to mey when I've used it against random enemies. I ended up testing this out at the Main Gate Plaza -grace against Shadow Miltiamen. When I found the furthest distance away I was able to hit with the dragonbolt I went to rest at the grace, stood at max distance spot, I turned around, took one backstep, turned around again and took one step forward. Around this distance I would always miss my dragonbolt where my character casts is behind the Shadow Militiaman. When I would take a step or two forward, I would always hit him.
I went to Gatefront to test this against the closest Godrick soldier with spear and shield. Whne I found the max distance to hit the soldier with dragonbolt again I went to rest at the grace to make the soldier respawn, went to stand on the max distance spot and from there I turned 180, took one backstep, turned around and took one step forward and it would hit the dragonbolt behind the soldier. From that distance taking a step or two forward I was able to hit the soldier again.

this weapon need a lightning damage or damage buff (for 20 sec, something like this), but is kinda good weapon
- Anonymous
OK Fromsoftware trolling us on this one.
This is a dragon cult weapon, it deals lightning dmg and reduces lightning resistance, but it scales with ARCANE. You know, the stat that allows you to use Dragon Communion spell, the ones that deal every dmg type except lightning.
If you want to make a Dragon Cult build, the one that actually does lightning, you ahve to use a seal that scales only with Faith and STR, meaning anya rcane stat is wasted.
They carefully crafted a weapon that does not fit any build.
- Anonymous
This weapon has a few unique properties. It does indeed have the bonus damage on hit against Dragon type enemies, and all the more effective for it with the coveted Pierce damage type. In a patch before or concurrent with Shadow of the Erdtree, maces and axes and other friends got huge buffs to swing timers making it a much more attractive option for bashing in heads. The lightning damage from its Ash of War also not only scales with Arcane instead of the usual Dexterity, but when fully charged can nerf an enemy's Lightning resistance by a whopping 30%. Use this on a Dragon communion build with 50/50 or higher Faith and Arcane to pair this Ash of War with Dragon Cult incantations from a seal in your off hand and some choice Dragon Communion spells. You can rip and tear quite easily since you'll be plowing through the defenses of even resistant enemies like Ancient Dragons.
The only real downside is that you'll practically have none left to fight outside of NG+ since you have to kill Bayle to get gifted this.
- Anonymous
Use this weapon art on enemies. Charge to enhance the debuff of Lightning Negation to 30%. That is a very huge boost for your lightning damage. Then cast the new lightning spear and watch it deal a ton of damage.
faith scaling not terrible, it's a sky-strike lightning (so no thrown projectile, meaning it'll hit), and puts a debuff. could get away with this in death knight set and fling gravelstone incants. dunno. would buff the lightning component of the decent bayle skill (arc 53 one, the hyperarmor for days jump strike)... tempted to burn a tear.

- Anonymous
It's description suggest that it has a passive effect against dragons, but it does no bonus damage against dragons whatsoever.
- Anonymous
Debuff lasts about 20 seconds and does not increase duration with charging but the strength of the debuff seemed to go up a little from my testing. Against the giant outside secluded cell I got about a 12%-17% increase in lightning damage after using it (12% at no charge, 17% charged). Range is about as far as you can throw a none-charged regular fireball.
- Anonymous
Contradictory scaling. Florissax's dragon transformation boosts Dragon Cult incantations via the Priestess Heart, while the Rock Heart transforms you into a more masculine dragon that boosts Dragon Communion incantations. One would think that this weapon would have inherent lightning damage and scale with faith. I suppose since shes the founder of Dragon Communion it makes a bit of sense, but I do think faith scaling makes more sense.
- Anonymous
Would have been a cool opportunity to have an arcane scaling weapon with red lightning damage that scaled w arcane
- Anonymous
This absolutely could and should have been a faith arcane weapon, the character and her weapon are literally lore wise the bridge we needed/suspected between the dragon communion and the ancient dragons, it would have made perfect sense gameplay wise too finally giving dragon communion players a proper assigned weapon (the one we got is quality??)

Does anybody else have issues with the range of the skill? Sometimes I hit things and sometimes it goes behind them?
I could be stupid, but it's irritating when I miss an enemy, take a micro step in any direction, and then suddenly hit them perfectly
- Anonymous
Anyone know if the description means this deals bonus damage to dragons, or if its just referring to it dealing pierce damage that dragons are less resistant to?

Shadow of the Erdtree easy mode:
80 Arcane, 58 strength, whatever vigor/mind/stamina you feel comfortable with. Put the rest into dex (I only have 20). No need for int or faith
-Flowerstone gavel +10
-Poison perfume as secondary weapon
-Talismans: Godfrey icon, lightning scorpion charm, shard of Alexander, kindred of rot exhalation
-Physick: Lightning cracked tear, spikey cracked tear
Bossfights: use the weapon art on poison perfume to poison yourself and trigger rot talisman bonus. Switch to flowerstone gavel. Chug physick. Spam charged weapon art. Win.
Exploring: Switch the rot talisman for the blessed dew magic talisman. No need to worry about triggering poison because you can just delete enemies without the extra buff
Have fun
