Warpick is a Hammer in Elden Ring. The Warpick scales primarily with Dexterity and Strength and is a good Weapon for breaking an enemy's guard or stance to open up another opportunity to attack.

Battle hammer with a hard protruding beak. A pickaxe designed for combat, in essence.

A simple but highly effective weapon, the weighty piercing attack casually rips through metal armor.

Where to Find Warpick in Elden Ring

The Warpick weapon can be found at the following location:

  • Godrick Soldiers wielding a Warpick have a chance to drop this item.
    • Two can be found hiding in bushes near the first enemy down the hill going south along the path from the Stormhill Shack site of grace. This is a fast method of farming.
    • Three can be found in the Gatefront Ruins just south of the Gatefront site of grace. One in the western-most corner. Two in the southern-most corner.
    • Three can be found in the camp on the hill east of the Agheel Lake South site of grace.
  • Mausoleum Soldiers wielding a Warpick have a chance to drop this item.

Elden Ring Warpick Notes & Tips

  • Weapon SkillKick
  • This weapon can be infused with Ashes of War and buffed with Magic and Consumables
  • Warpick can be upgraded by using Smithing Stones
  • Sell Value:  er runes 13 100
  • Base drop rate is 2% (at 100 Discovery)
  • Despite what the ingame stat page shows, this weapon does in fact deal 100% pierce damage rather than strike (this can be seen in the games' param file)
  • NOTE: As of Patch 1.08, the speed and distance of some attacks has been increased and the recovery time has been reduced.  While the poise damage of Hammers has been reduced, Poise damage when attacking with two-handed Hammers has been increased.
  • NOTE: As of Patch 1.09, the scaling values of this weapon were changed. Please refer to the Upgrades Table of this weapon below.  Additionally, running attacks speed increase with reduced recovery time for hammers.
  • Despite the stat line in-game, the pick does pierce damage as its description says.

The Warpick can be infused with Ashes of War. Click below for a list of all possible Ashes of War that can be applied to the hammer weapon.

Reminds me of warpicks from the first fable game. I ran fire warpick cause thats the weapon you get from the bandit camp in fable.

I play with Astrologer, so not the strongest guys or gals, but I did put Ashes of War - Wild Strikes on my Warpick, this thing rips opponets stance, shields, armor in pieces!

        • Anonymous

by itself it just isn't very good. too short and doesn't break poise. i could see using it being alright with an aow or dual wielding, but you can say that about any weapon.

my first soulsborne was DS1R, and the Warpick was my baby.

I tend to change my playstyle with each game. DS1R I was a heavyish-pyromancer with curved greatswords...
bloodborne I did a low HP/high everything else build, prioritizing dex w/blades of mercy/burial blade...
now in ER I'm a heavyish-astro using twinblades and flails...

the sole constant is that my Heavy Metal Spike Hammer --never-- leaves my side, come nerfs, buffs, high water, or intact skulls.

Every time i find a weapon i like, i come here and people are hating on it. Maaaaannn, i’mma bludgeon people with my faith-build holy-hammer cuz it looks dope.

This right here might take the cake for the worst weapon in the game, no range, no damage, terrible power stance.

This thing got massacred in every way.

"Base drop rate 2%" yea stfu. 4h in, not a single one so far from that guy at the Gatefront (The one on the west corner with the second one wielding a sword nearby). Reminds me on DS1 covenant item grind. Ffs

                  • Anonymous

i tried all three locations and found the fastest method is from gatefront ruins, the one guy in the "west corner" can be shot with a bow, if he drops loot, go get it, if not, just rest and repeat. don't bother with the other 2 in the "southern corner"

Holy ****, a warhammer in a video game that isn't a horrendously oversized metal brick on a stick? It's actually realistically proportioned? I love it

This would be more interesting if the light attack was blunt / striking and the heavy was piercing. Or vice versa.

I think this is the only weapon I’ve seen that seems to scale best on standard infusion (excluding weapons with unchangeable ashes of war of course)

Deals stupid amounts of stance damage on guard counters for how fast and lightweight it is, and also its primary damage attribute is Pierce, meaning most ashes of war that use the weapon for damage will also deal Pierce damage; the Pickaxe for Light Rollers.

idk if its an error from the recent patch, but in game its damage is listed as pure strike. it still does pierce though

These might be the lightest weight hyperarmor weapons, which can have its uses in soft swapping. For example applying statuses with a soft swap tool prior to rotating to real damage

Confessor with dual war picks, a misericorde, and a small shield… feels like a very coherent and potent assassin of all things big and small. Not superhuman (no giant weapons) just brutally pragmatic with spiky murdery weapons and multiple setups for fat Misericorde stabs. And the Misericorde and War Pick are both fairly pretty/ornate (in an austere kind of way) weapons that suit the Confessor vibes.

                                    • Anonymous

a legitimately strong (i think) PvE niche for this is dual War Picks as a very potent, very weight efficient (and stamina efficient) way to stance-break enemies (with jump L1 spam) before stabbing them with a Misericorde. Two warpicks is only 5 weight and dual hammer jumping L1s, even with the lightest hammers, do extremely good stance damage (unless I’m misunderstanding this spreadsheet i found lol). I wonder if counter-hits (which these weapon can do cuz it’s pierce) do bonus stance damage?

At 80 strength/9 dexterity, two-handed and fully upgraded, this weapon gets 551 AR. That's quite low. For comparison, the Nox Flowing Hammer, which also has B scaling with strength, gets 669 AR under the same conditions.

I mean, I get it, it only weighs 2.5 units and it deals piercing damage, but still, that's more than 100 AR difference with the exact same moveset. I'm a bit disappointed, to be perfectly honest.

The game says it does strike damage. This page says pierce. I believe this page, because

                                          1. The weapon is used with the pointy end striking targets and

                                          2. It did less damage to stone miners than a freaking sword of lesser AR.

Gotta love how it's this massive ****ing thing in the hands of the Soldiers, yet in your hands it's a tiny useless pos.

Worth noting that lower weapon weight corresponds with lower stamina costs. In this case, for instance, 1h R1s cost 10 stamina for this weapon and 12 for the Morning Star. For R2s it's 18 vs 20 (a worse benefit percent-wise). For 2H R1 it's 13 vs 15, and for 2H R2 it's 21 vs 24. Full details are on the "Motion Values" spreadsheet you can find if you google "ER Motion Values", in the "Datamined Resource Collection". This weapon does as much poise damage as other hammers, so having that plus higher stamina efficiency could maaaaybe let it pressure poise better than other weapons (because you spend more time attacking and less time recovering stamina), but that's a very theoretical theory. And also, Pierce damage has so many things it performs badly against, and getting Pierce's special counterhits with such a short weapon is pretty hard (aside from just poising through using the high 2H mace poise).

Oof why can't I reply? @Jan 9: all weapons actually deals more normal attack damage on stance broken enemies regardless of damage type. Warpick being pierce has nothing to do with that. Due to its light weight though you can make a light roll build that makes use of the blue dancer charm. The low poise is offset by hammer's 2-hand hyper armor. And with 2 handing, you effectively only needed 54 Str plus the low weight build means you don't need endurance saving a ton on levels. You can then invest those in Faith to use Barrier incants and Golden Vow to increase your absorption. The weapon still has terrible reach, base damage, and scaling though...

                                                • Anonymous

Normal attacking a stance broken enemy seems to deal "counter hits" when you use thrust weapons according to the visual cue. Due to the hammers excellence in stance breaking and this weapon's unique attribute of dealing Pierce damage I've found a niche use for this weapon, instead of riposting, spamming R1 will net you more damage(aside from Land Octopus). Use Cragblade for better results.

The Fs wrong with people editing this to Strike. It says strike in-game but actually deals pierce damage. The wiki should reflect that. So easy to test this on miners to know it deals pitiful damage against them. Also has that visual that shows the counter hits from pierce/thrust weapons.

                                                    • Anonymous

DS3 Warpick was hardly a meta threat, but it had its fans. This guy is a bit too weak and stubby to stand out much. To best capitalize on its damage, keep it pure physical and use the spear talisman.

                                                      • Anonymous

Wikipage is HORRIBLY wrong about the weight. Farmed it for a Blue Dancer Charm based build, only to find that the weight is 4x higher than the wiki says, making it not really viable for the entire reason I got it.

                                                        • Anonymous

Some of you got the damage type change reversed. It used to do Pierce damage but was changed into dealing Strike damage instead.

This wiki page just hasn't been properly updated yet.

Source: Used this specific weapon against Putrid Crystal Trio in patch 1.03 and when I wanted to bring ol' trusty back in current patch (1.06), I realized they had changed it to Strike instead. Strike damage is useless against Crystalians.

Weapons like these should be more unique in ways it can attack because of how unique they truely are.

This weapon has both a hammer and a spike but it ONLY uses it's spike. I wish the heavy attacks were with the hammer and light attacks with the spike so you can use strike and pierce which would make this weapon much more versatile and much more unique.

If you look closely when using this weapon, you will see that when using your second light attack it will change from being able to hit with the hammer, but instead will instantly change to the spike side so it will hit with pierce damage. They could have done it so first attack is a left swing = pierce, right swing = strike. They do the same thing on Halberds except for it would be same damage though.
Would like that to change, but that would require new animations.

Kind of ironic that they changed the damage type to one that's less effective against metal armor in order to match the weapon's description of having a "weighty piercing attack" in order to be more effective against metal armor.

                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                  • Anonymous

-Why the hell is this weapon so much smaller compared to the one Godrick soldiers use?

-Why is the damage so low for a mace class weapon? And the scaling is abysmal, 39 for str and 39 for dex? Really? 45 str if its heavy infused.

-Why the **** do the Godrick soldiers do MORE ****ING STAGGER AND STAMINA DAMAGE with the warpick than us? AND THEY GET HYPERARMOR!

Oh but not to worry everyone, there is one good perk that this weapon has. The stamina comsumption ratio is 0.9, hooray!! your using 10% less stamina!
The warpick we see the soldiers use should have been the warpick we ****ing got. Fix this from software

                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                      • FS probably: The Lucerne and Warpick dealing pierce damage was too OP, remove the one thing that made them special in the other games while also nerfing their damage overall but make sure the descriptions still claim they deal piercing damage for no reason whatsoever. Oh yeah, and make Heavy Thrusting Swords have the speed of light weapons and the poise damage of heavy weapons.

                                                                        • Anonymous

That was pretty sad for me, because i did like warpick in DS3 and it was a decent weapon. But here even though it looks cool, it has low base dmg, lower scaling, no piercing, same clunky moveset like other maces have (even thought its weight is twice less than their but who cares, right)
I don't think this will ever happen, but i be happy if developers gave it quicker moveset then over maces which are more heavy, same as wooden axe has when compared with battle axe. Like come one From Software, this guys weighs less than any straight sword, but still hits WAY slower. Also it would be fair if it had piercing dmg, like miner's pickaxe has

                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                            • Anonymous

I mean, it’s got lower damage, scaling, no pierce damage, basically no range, and annoying to farm. It really should be longer, deal at least the same base damage as the mace, and deal pierce damage.

                                                                              • Anonymous

The Morning Star outclasses it by 80 damage and even having more of a bleed effect (+25, Quality scaled and 99 str 99 dex)

                                                                                • Anonymous

Flame/Lighting infusions are decent but get outshinned by pure-magic scaling (Fth/Int). Then again, this weapon has so little base damage that it might actually deal less damage with elemental infusions because of how split defenses work.

                                                                                  • Anonymous

I never noticed any jump in damage when trading either. I’m confident this does not do thrust damage hence no counter hits... and if it did score counter hits the damage is so low it still lost every trade anyways.

I would say use it if you think it's cool: it's perfectly functional, but that's all it is; average. I have mine at +25 and it's definitely just a worse version of its alternatives, but I use it as my dedicated strike weapon, simply because I have a soft spot for it.

                                                                                          • Anonymous

It MAY do thrust damage but it’s damage is so low that it was never worth any trade. It’s also too short to score counter hits without doing a trade. I’m not convinced it does thrust damage either. Yes, it bounces off miners. But watching my damage during trades vs without trades I would score the same damage consistently. 180-200 dmg on meta builds and 280-320 on mages. The damage on 55 str one handed is pretty bad. You’ll also need a shield to ever get close enough to hit a player and most players straight up run away to do nothing but weapon arts or spells. This likely shines best as a defensive weapon for mages/clerics to bonk players who get to close. Mace is way better but this is low investment, low weight and high fashion. If this had high crit I would say it’s solid on a parry tank but it’s not. My backstabs were only slightly better dmg than r1s. Players who pvp should stay away, players who only pve will enjoy the fashion.

                                                                                                • Anonymous

Slap some grease on it and you won't mind the slightly lower damage compared to it's more weighty siblings.

Good to have in the back pocket for when a striking weapon is required.

But the description is a bit confusing and makes me wonder if the weapon is meant to do pierce damage or is just labelled incorrectly. Anyone tested to make sure?

But yeah it does seem kinda silly that is it is 100% blunt unlike the pickaxe.

                                                                                                        • Anonymous

Average scaling, non piercing damage...Quite a disappointment. It's too bad, the model looks quite nice and is one of the few non over the top maces. I'd recommend just using the morningstar if you're planning on using a mace.
Feels like you're punished if you don't have a weapon that brings a passive bonus to the table like Frostbite or bleeding.

                                                                                                          • It's possible that it still does pierce damage despite it saying Strike. The Jawbone Axe for example has been tested to do Strike damage (as it says in the description) despite the game saying it does Standard damage.

                                                                                                              • Anonymous

On the bright side... It's very light so you can keep a pocket ash of war on it, or keep it handy for stuff like diggers in the mines.

One of my favorite weapons in ds3, but now it doesn't really have much going for it. Hope its just an oversight that will get fixed in a future patch.

So I spent 6 hours farming this for the fashion and for a blunt backup weapon to run with my Pickaxe on an STR build, and I can now officially say... Don't bother. It's trash. Looks nice, sure, but it's AR is comparibly weak, it's guard counter misses 90% of the time and it's range and moveset in general is terrible. Use any other blunt weapon - unless I'm missing I can't quantify like poise, poise damage or guard breaking, AVOID. You can thank me later :)

                                                                                                                            • Anonymous

Now that power stancing is a thing, the warpick shines best as a power stanced weapon alongside one of the other hammer brothers in it's category. You are getting 100% pierce damage on top of strike damage from your other hammer. You might be thinking, "big deal" but it actually is: The damage types pierce and strike are parallel to one another and compliment each other in such a way that you are covering essentially all your bases. This notion carries over to the "great" version, the pickaxe, as well. Definitely try pairing it with a different damage type and give it a run, it's probably becoming my favorite build so far.

                                                                                                                              • Anonymous

The warpick does pierce damage.
