    • This is very powerful in the early game; it gives a flat +60 Frostbite buildup which stacks with the innate Frostbite buildup on Cold weapons, which results in it very easily proccing in PvP against players below level 70, two hits against most players (besides password phantoms, of course.)

For poise builds, throw this on your misericorde with keen affinity. No AR penalty with a solid way to proc frostbite

Why do people that have this spam it even when they know they aren't going to hit someone? You'll just stare at them while they retreat behind the mist and then repeat that about 16 times in a row.

A solid choice for colossal swords and other colossal weapons sinces its pretty fast and still has a weapon hitbox

two great stars with hoarfrost and this one on a str/int build are much fun + you get healed when the frost hits the enemies. I finished ER 4 times now and I never really used frost or poison stuff, but this build is so much fun for me! :)

The scarab for the ash of war is glitched for me. It’s in the wrong spot and doesn’t drop anything. Just respawns again when I rest at grace. Anyone know if you can fix it?

Stuffing around on my 85 build and slapped this on my heavy broadsword and chucked bleed on a longsword for my left. Holy enemy deletus! It's nuts in love and in smallll tests of PvP seems like it will be absolutely brilliant.

Extremely good against Radagon. Carry a fire dagger on the same hand and you can potentially proc frost multiple times dealing a ton of damage.

I found a bug with this ash of war if you use it with the butchering knife greataxe if an enemy is in the mist and even when they take no damage the frost build up will constantly heal u because of the weapons special effect even if they are immune to frost just the attempt to apply frost will for some reason count as a 'squarly hit strike' even though the mist doesn't last very long I am able to get more then 5 ticks of the heal from the weapon effect

Inexplicably slept on regarding PvP. Connect the swing and the stagger causes your opponent to just stand in the mist, proccing Frostbite and costing at least half of their health. No reason to frown on it for only lasting 20 sec when you can simply cast it again. There’s also no reason to apply this to a frost weapon when properly timed.
In short: extremely underutilized and powerful Ash

If you get the Iron Whetblade from Stormveil, you can use this ashe to imbue frost buildup onto your weapon

                          • Anonymous

The swing of the weapon that creates the mist does pretty decent damage itself (around 2x R1). The buff doesn't seem to add any damage to the weapon, only frost buildup.

Used this art of war to poise through Black Knife Assassins in that one town that requires a torch to see them (so no shield). Their attacks can’t break the animation of the AoW, so it’s free damage with only slight to you (still can get hurt though).

TLDR use this on Twinblades, Claymans or similar if you want to get the INT scaling of pure magic but still be able to apply frost quickly.

Does the frost on the weapon scale with anything? I want to put this on my Str flail with a Heavy affinity, but I'm not sure whether the damage done by the Ash then also scales with Str or still with Int.

I have a question. Infusing a weapon with cold through this ash of war gives it frost build up, but then, using the ash if war seems to also apply a buff while the sword is frozen, similar to the poison mist ash if war.

For some reason I cannot tell what this additional buff does. It definitely lasts a few seconds after being cast, but I don't see an increase in damage or frost build up while the weapon is frozen.

Does anyone know what the active effect does on this art of war?
