So, since I'm doing some research on various possible ways of breaking poise for various types of runs and I don't see this one (Or many others) could someone give me some tips on how I could test poise damage on console? Won't have a working PC again for quite some time, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Anyone know how does the damage scale? Stats, weapon upgrade level, AR?
- Anonymous
Allows a ranged attack option on weapon's that don't accept storm blade like greataxe's

A vacuum can be considered a void space, while a slice is a form of slashing, henceforth:
VOID SLASH!

the lore behind this is that an ancient hero hit the dude in the aow icon with it while his back was turned during a sparring match, leaving a deep scar on his back that seemed to accentuate his buttcrack. after that sparring match he learned the move from his ancient hero sparring partner, going on to become an ancient hero himself

Better single-shot damage than its little brother Storm Blade especially at point blank range, but Storm Blade still blows this out of the water since it's just so damn fast and dirt cheap to cast the DPS potential is downright insane.

Put this on the sacrificial axe with the fp talisman and off handing the sword of milos and with the carian talisman and you can cast infinite vacuum slices on grunts

This is actually a really good in both PVE and PVP settings.
The damage isn't too bad and it has some pretty good stagger potential as well, which can be compared to Storm Blade which also has some pretty good stagger potential, but the difference between this Ash of War and Storm Blade, is that Storm Blade can be spammed and it does slightly less damage
I have actually tested this on one of the Thorn Sorcerers at the Mountaintops of Giants (with a +24 Lordsworn Flame Art Straight Sword and Warrior Jar Shard Talisman), here's how much both Ashes of War did on the Thorn Sorcerer:
Vacuum Slice did 1217 damage
Storm Blade did 903 damage
And this is assuming the Thorn Sorcerer hasn't noticed you.
So this is basically the Slower, but Stronger brother of Storm Blade

Really wish the attack adopted the properties from any active weapon buffs, e.g. black flame blade turned it black and gave it DoT damage or frozen weapon made it inflict frostbite

It seems like this ash of war ate up a vertical moonveil beam, very strange
- Anonymous
Exponentially more useful now that you can aim it vertically along with its much needed range and speed buffs. Put this on my Omen Cleaver and it pairs very nicely with the bestial incantations

can we please start seeing some poise dmg numbers on these?

seems to have a bugged interaction with golden vow (ash of war) where it won't deal damage if you have it up

gives enough hyperarmor to tank Dragon communion incants, also does enough poise damage to knock opponents out of said incantation, even Placidusax's Ruin

Did they add weapon detection on this one in case you hit the enemy with the weapon and the skill?

I wish getsuga tensho was better in this game… can we have a horizontal slice?

FP cost is low, blade part also hits as of 1.07 and an be spammed in someone's face for 2 hits per cast. Not bad now.

I'd like a version of this with the same variable input as transient moonlight or N&F stance
okokokokok... so like, imagine, blasphemous blade. are you imagining it? good, now imagine it, but, get this... its worse in every way.

Expensive, slow as hell, very lategame in obtaining... Classic. Unforgettable. Hard-hitting. Cool named. Smells like onions. Smells like Issin. And only real chads can summon a memory: only the strongest storm can fell the tallest tree... For any others, it surely does about 30x damage to giants, and if it doesn't, you are looking at a wrong giant

why do all skill icons have to have such a distracting and so detailed naked ass, come on

It should be noted that this ash does at least a little bit of poise damage, unlike storm blade, which is often compared to this ash, does no poise damage. Vacuum slice took 4 hits to poise break an omen in the shunning grounds (for comparison flame of the redmanes only takes 2 hits)

The image looks like two vaccum slices were released n quick succession. Does it do that? If not it should!

Thought I'd go ahead and point out that you can prime this skill and do a 180 before it fires for a turn and burn in pvp. Would have been cool if you could charge it so it was a little more ambiguous as to when it goes. With my experience using Vacuum Slice on enemies, the damage is fine, anybody who argues it is wrong or just built badly. There however is no difference in damage between the blade itself hitting or just the projectile nor is there any kind of sweet spot either. I just have a soft spot for the storm ruler from DS3. I used a lot of different greatswords in that game but it's one of my favorites.

Why does the wiki avoid labaling the enemy statue guarding it? They're all over the place in Deeproot Depths and a few in the capital.
Looks like a broken down gargoyle statue to me

If you're fine with PvE, this isn't a bad ash to use, especially against large targets.
However, if you like doing PvP, don't even bother with this Ash. Just don't. As others have pointed out, by the time you swing even one vacuum slice, the other player can go out for a cup of coffee, a donut, and then smash you into the ground with an AOE or any other attack before you even finish the slice. It's horribly slow.

Expensive, slow, blatantly telegraphed, damage meh, hitbox extremely narrow, range meh and can even bug out if you try to free aim it (it'll fly into the floor if you're camera is aiming slightly down). Sorry Ringers, no Runes to be found here. Bring it up to Frayed Blade speed and we'll be talking.

Does anyone know what the damage from the actually projectile scales with?
- Anonymous
if you ever wanted a slow, heavily telegraphed attacked that can be dodged easy and does pretty weak dmg, this is the weapon art for you, it's bad. maybe it's good for stance breaking in pve, who knows.

the lack of discussion on the merits of this AoW here is disappointing, and you all should be ashamed of yourselves.

If you buff yourself with Last Rites from the sword Golden Epitaph the wave from Vacuum Slice does 0 damage. (it will still do posture damage however)
