I seem to be getting 20% more runes when this is activated. (Sealed Tunnel miner with Golden scarab normal 502 with Sacred Blade 603)

incredible on an early game crit build. the flat extra damage is no joke

Makes almost any weapon an undead killing machine. Makes the sections with undead beastmen a breeze in Farum Azula.

You know I keep this mf thang on me when the dead start actin up.

when i first played elden ring, i thought this skill was so cool and decently strong. then i summoned my friends for coop.
while i was charging up my tiny fingernail of light, they just kamehameha'd the magma wyrm to death

This + Nightrider Flail is my back-pocket solution to skellies and deathbirds.
- Anonymous
Slap this on any Greathammer, and with buff active you will evaporize any undead in 1-2 swings. Kid you not, it will make any Death Birb boss your b*tch, even lategame ones. Also it prevents any undead from reviving back.
- Anonymous
How long does the buff on weapon last? Is the damage applied to your melee weapon flat or scaled? If flat how much?
- Anonymous
Putting this on Rogier's rapier +8 makes the early game a breeze, especially when killing the early game deathbirds and going through catacombs
- Anonymous
Just a comment for the "can be used on all melee armaments". This is incorrect, fists and claws are both melee weapons yet they cannot use some ashes listed as "can be used on all melee armaments".

Put it onto the Morningstar early on and you have a weapon that completely obliterates undead. Many things actually.
- Anonymous
very very good for colossal weapons. the initial swing is fast and does a ton of damage, and the extra flat damage can easily push you over 1000 ar
- Anonymous
I don't get why this can be used on colossal weapons but you can't with flaming strike.

the 1.07 patch notes make it sound like the weapon has a hitbox now, i'm gonna test that later today. this will be the patch to make sacred blade and lightning slash on par with flaming strike!
- Anonymous
Honestly, like others have said, this is the perfect ash for fighting undead. It's stupidly easy to get, and it melts undead like crazy. I switch to it every time I have to go through a tomb or graveyard, and Deathbirds are guaranteed dead birds with how easy it is to spam the projectile.
- Anonymous
Can honestly be throw on any backup weapon for basically any build to use for undead fights, I strongly recommend a strike damage one, as most undead get battered pretty badly by strike weapons. As for faith tools though, idk there's likely ways to do higher or more efficient holy damage, but it LOOKS super paladin so screw it throw it on a flail for badassery buffs
- Anonymous
This Ash of War actually makes your Weapon do less damage with sacred affinity. It will say that it adds holy damage but it doesn't apply unless you have the buff from the Sacred Blade skill. I have tested this on 5 different enemies including undead (weak to holy) and wildllife. The faith scaling also does not apply unless you have the buff and I have tested this as well; you will do more damage with more faith only while the buff is active and using sacred affinity. Bugged???

While the buff doesn't seem to last quite as long (only a few seconds shorter really) as Shared/Sacred Orders, the projectile arc and weapon buff make this the go-to choice for my paladin character. Is there any reason to use the aforementioned two rather than this?
- Anonymous
If you get interuppted while casting the holy arc it will still buff your weapon thankfully even though the whole animation gets cancelled.
- Anonymous
Needs a buff. Either its range needs to be increased or the buff should last longer
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
The game doesn't say it, but both the projectile and the buff have a bonus against undead, and therefore permakill skeletons. This really simplifies any encounters with skeletons or mariners.
- Anonymous
so chilling mist uses the exact same animation and gives the weapon a hitbox. same goes for poison moth flight. not this one tho.
I think imma report that as a bug. you never know.
- Anonymous
the damage of the AoW does not take into account any grade offaith scaling, it purely depends on weapon upgrade level, wether or not there is faith scaling (but the grade does not matter) and the amount of faith you have.

*slaps roof of ash of war*
this bad boy can fit so many trades with zoning AoW in it.
- Anonymous
excellent for punishing in pvp. great damage, and you don't even have to put your own hp on the line.

This ash is not for all melee armaments, it does not go on whips.
- Anonymous
Not there anymore since last patch. But it can now be extracted from Miquellan Knight's Sword
- Anonymous
I've gone through the game a few times, so I know where it usually spawns. Not there this time, and I don't know why.
Shame since it's my favorite sacred buff.
- Anonymous
So, this skill give any weapon free holy damage buff no matter what affinity they are, but the projectile fired from this skill is still holy damage type and scaled with faith?
- Anonymous
Extremely strong early/midgame incant. One pro I haven't seen mentioned here is that the weapon buff applies even if you have an elemental affinity on the weapon. In other words, you can use this on top of the sacred or flame art affinities, and as far as I know, this is the only weapon buff you can do that with. Which means you can reach some INSANE AR.
Not sure but it seems / feels like the weapon buff doesn't scale off faith but I haven't tested it thoroughly.

The scarab isn’t where the guide says it is. I’ve gone all over these cliffs looking for it
- Anonymous
I'm fine with the buff not lasting long, I just wish the ranged attack didn't take so long to come out.
- Anonymous
Pretty damn good for early midgame
Shoots a holy slash wave with a long cooldown but buffs your damage for a static 85 holy damage for 20 seconds. This means that you can use it for most variety of builds early on since it doesn't require much investment and great for melee builds that need nonphysical damage.
- Anonymous
Honestly, this on an Erdtree Dagger can be great as an early faith build. Even with a +0, though a 24 in Faith, it went from a Phys/Holy 48+10 and 48+11 to a 48+10 and 48+96. 28 damage on a demihuman to 126. Scale this thing up and you've got some great jabs to dish out without much investment.

Both the skill itself and the subsequently buffed weapon will kill skeletons without letting them revive.
- Anonymous
an "eye-catching whirlwind" lmao they're called spiritsprings dog...I tried to register just to edit this but it wouldn't send an activation link :/
The location for the Ash of War needs to be moved to the southeast on the map on the lowest platform near the left hand side near the water.
Come on, guys.

Can this Aow buff be combined with Incarnation buffs like bloodflame ?
- Anonymous
Has anyone confirmed if this scales with Faith or not? On the wiki it says it doesn't but I'm seeing some people comment to say it does.

This Ash may be glitched proving far more damage than it should.
Tested at SL1 with two Lordsworn Longsword +0 on a Death Rite bird in Liurnia near academy.
Sacred Order: 161 damage with 232 AR (almost identical holy).
Sacred Blade Ash: 258 AR but was dealing 340 damage.
Clearly, despite the short buff duration Sacred Blade vastly exceeds the performance of Sacred Order, in this case by more than 200%. It also uses far less FP.
- Anonymous
This ash is for undeads in catacombs. A little more duration would help to be great, but's good for the purpose.
- Anonymous
The buff's duration is far too short.
It should last at least 20 to 30 seconds longer.

Miyazaki, can we get a faith moonlight greatsword?

Slow to cast, but it comes with a high degree of poise throughout the animation, making it a projectile that can be cast reliably without being staggered out of the animation.

I really wish the arc had a little longer range. It feels way shorter than it should be and I miss it a lot. Then again, I understand why it shouldn't be able to be a full stand-in for ranged incantations, so I suppose it's for the best.
- Anonymous
Good ash skill but it needs to at least last 30 seconds or come out a little faster.
- Anonymous
Description was written by someone who skipped the tutorial and has no clue what spiritsprings are, lol. Someone should correct that.
- Anonymous
Great AoW I only wish at point blank it did extra physical damage and not just beam damage
- Anonymous
Also known as the Deathbird ****er.
Banished Knight's Sacred Halberd +8 deals a whopping 1190! damage when used on it's head, even though I only have 8 faith.
- Anonymous
So im trying to find the teardrop scarab but he doesnt show up in his spot? Help?
- Anonymous
If it adds holy damage, how come you need to use the skill for it to prevent respawns?
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Very strong for the Inquisitor. The buff stops Skeletons from respawning and does very high damage to them and other undead, it usually one shots them and ripped through all three versions of the Tibia Mariner. You can’t use other spells as buffs however, at least not when it’s Sacred Infused.

I use this non-stop with my STR/FTH build. Removed my shield skill, so I can use this when one-handing my Claymore. Perfect for Paladin-like tanks. The projectile does good damage and the buff ensures more damage.

wrong location in interactive map, its a bit lower at ground level

Lasts around 18 seconds after the AoW animation is done. Good when stacked with holy affinity, if using another affinity not that great

This ability can't be put on the whip, even though this ability says you can it won't allow you to.
I believe when buffed this permanently kills re-spawning enemies.
- Anonymous
This is insane for melee faith builds
It fires a projectile and gives your weapon a buff that adds great damage in early game
- Anonymous
This is an exceptional AoW that can be obtained right from the start. It gives pure melee builds a ranged attack (albeit short ranged) without needing a bow or casting item, and also applies a really strong buff for the early game. Slap this on pretty much any starter weapon and wreck the first half of the game.
