Ash of War: Raptor of the Mists is an Ash of War and Upgrade Material in Elden Ring. Ash of War: Raptor of the Mists provides Keen affinity and the Raptor of the Mists Skill. Ashes of War can be equipped on Weapons and Shields to modify the Skill or an equipment, or to apply affinities that modify scaling values.
This Ash of War grants an armament the Keen affinity and the following skill:
"Raptor of the Mists: Duck into a low stance, momentarily vanishing. If an enemy attack connects, avian wings will allow for a quick escape into the air."
Usable on all melee armaments.

Where to find Ash of War: Raptor of the Mists:
- Found after aiding Bloody Finger Hunter Yura in defeating his target in Raya Lucaria. Map Link Video Location
Ash of War: Raptor Elden Ring Guide
- Grants the skill Raptor of the Mists.
- Can be used with any affinity Upgrade.
- Pressing the attack button when catapulted into the air by this AoW makes the character execute a jump attack, which will be boosted by the Raptor's Black Feathers and the Claw Talisman.
- Combos well with Dragonbolt Blessing, which makes light attacks bounce of the player character model, but the attack will still proc the counter jump attack of this skill. Also useful to make sure you're not interrupted while in the air.
- Can be applied to the following weapon categories, so long as the weapon allows skill replacement: Daggers, Straight Swords, Greatswords, Colossal Swords, Curved Swords, Curved Greatswords, Katanas, Twinblades, Thrusting Swords, Heavy Thrusting Swords, Hammers, Great Hammers, Axes, Greataxes, Flails, Spears, Great Spears, Halberds, Reapers, Fists, Claws, Whips, Colossal Weapons
Elden Ring Ash of War: Raptor Notes & Tips
- The I-frames this move grants upon use can be used to evade the chariots in Hero Graves.
- FP will be used upon dodging not on skill activation. This means you can repeatedly use it until someone hits you without wasting FP.
- While the move grants a high amount of I-frames when used it will not grant any invincibility or hyperarmor while airborne.

irks me so much that you can't displace in any direction truly like in sekiro. what i'd give for a mod that made this into a true version of the aged feather mist prosthetic
- Anonymous
ok this **** is kind of absurd Radagon couldn't do **** I had no downtime
- Anonymous

I wish this worked more like the mist raven feather that it's based on and let me move in any direction you wanted and only moved you up if you didn't do any input. That'd give it a lot more utility.

I wish they add the possibility to reactivate the skill a second time while in the air to reset back to a neutral position a step behind (or even while staying airborn).
An also it'd be cool if they reduced the recovery while crouched if the attack doesn't land on you

If I use this on the ridable chariot in Gelmir hero's grave will I teleport onto it if I'm in the path of it?
- Anonymous
anyone else getting hit in the air? you had one job fromsoft, the jump attack AoW.
- Anonymous
Perfect for cheeseing the executioners chariots in the heroes graves.

Well aren't I just a complete moron for not realizing that loading the area called "Mountaintops of the Giants" and seeing an NPC at a bonfire would prematurely terminate a previously in-progress quest line, killing a character off-screen (inexplicably, no mention of how or why he died if you didn't go to the church) would completely eliminate the possibility of getting this ash of war in my game.

NOOOOOOOOOO! I killed yura because I had my eyes on hes katana ::(((

This with dual double blades is a godsend for a bleed build.

I have more hours in this than I'll admit, in one playthrough where I cleared every boss and a shorter second one I'm about three quarters of the way through now. But I've never understood this AoW. It isn't what some of the crucible knights do when they materialise gold wings, or is it ?
- Anonymous
Even if you don't trigger the counter, you can still you a crouching attack out of the animation. If you're in PVP you can use this to surprise your opponent, especially if they already know you have the counter.
- Anonymous
You got to use this a lot to understand it's in and outs. But if you don't want to bother then just know this. You can use this to dodge the Chariots in the Hero Graves. Pop it right before they hit you and you will teleport as they safely pass you by.

- Anonymous
the way it goes into crouch mode is so bad because you expect it to take you up in the air and you're ready for that but instead when the attack seems to hit (it went over your head by a mm) you just sit there and your momentum is ruined. Only reason I don't use it.

while being summoned as a blue phantom, i pressed the "return to entrance" shortcut at the end of a cave. when the load screen ended, i was at the entrance of the cave and the summoning stopped (no error message) and now my weapon's ash of war changed to this? what the hell happened?

Chalk another for "things I missed and locked myself out from getting"
- Anonymous
Pairs perfectly with jump attacks and jump attack enhancing items.
- Anonymous
this is a crazy good hard counter to people who spam storm stomp, actually so satisfying to slap them out of their freebie r1 with an unexpected jumping heavy
- Anonymous
You can still invade and kill the assassin with Yura even after he's possessed by Shabriri.
- Anonymous
One of the best counters to Royal Knight's Resolve. Getting hit by RKR with this active will make your opponent lose their buff, giving you a perfect opportunity to punish, potentially twice if they try to recast.
- Anonymous
Does not work with grabs. Learned that the hard way with Godrick and his little dragon fire grab XD
- Anonymous
An amazing AOW that I've used across a few characters. Love it to death, but the ability to get hit after the teleport, well it sucks. It'd be perfect if you could change direction of the teleport, because I use it to dodge/dunk under an attack more than to attack.
- Anonymous
wow that raptor of the mists use was really cool, it would be a shame if i just attacked again and hit you first anyway
- Anonymous
I'm not sure about this one. I loved Mist Raven Feathers in Sekiro, but it loses potency here. A quick peek at the stance damage chart shows that every weapon type deals more posture damage on guard counters than they do on jumping heavy attacks, and you'd use this AoW the same way you'd use a Guard Counter: at the end of an enemy's combo, so you don't get stun locked during your punish. With a straight sword in hand, I could just dodge, dodge, block > guard counter for ~30 posture damage, or I could dodge, dodge, Raptor of the Mist > jump heavy attack for ~20. Am I going to use it anyway for the aesthetic? Hell yeah.

Would definitely enjoy it if this AoW gave you temporary hyperarmor after you teleport, because when it comes to enemies that attack quickly or groups of somewhat-aggressive enemies in any amount, it's really just an expensive way to dodge. Still a very cool AoW that absolutely shines in certain situations
- Anonymous
How about getting rid of bloodhound step and combining it with this aow? It would be good to move to other directions after activating this skill instead just going up, also you are vulnerable for a few moments if you fail so is not op at all and would be perfect for a sekiro cosplay

This trivializes Radagon, especially in co-op when agro is inconsistent. Instead of rolling around aoe, or timing his delayed attacks, just L2. You can almost stand still and just continue punishing them.
- Anonymous
No if the jump attack is affected by the shard of Alexander?
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Would be nice if we could control the direction of the dash. Like going left, right, or up, depending on if we hold left, right, or nothing at all. Like in Sekiro.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
This is really good against Placidusax. You can use this to dodge the delayed lightning strikes (like the ones he opens up the fight with and spams when you're near) as well as Placidusax's Bolt of Gransax (the big red lightning spear he thrusts into the ground). Being able to avoid the latter is really nice because normally you have to run away from that attack or take a truckload of damage, but instead you can just keep hitting him for nearly the entire duration and keep up the pressure.
- Anonymous
A cool thing not mentioned is that if this "misses", like, it causes you to duck the attack, you'll be in position to do a crouch attack, which might be advantageous for certain weapon or weapon pairings with slow R1, or conditional pierce attacks. Another cool thing is that it can duck some attacks.
- Anonymous
Just dueled a Rivers of Blood guy and was naked with two Noble Slender Swords with one of them having this on it. Basically insta-killed the guy. He couldn't get his L2 off without me wrecking his face. So if you hate Rivers of Blood use this. It works GREAT to ruin their day.
- Anonymous
You should have infinite hyperarmor until you hit the ground with this, or at least for a full second
- Anonymous
Did anyone else not have the raptor of the mists AoW drop after using Yura's sign and helping him kill the bloody finger and returning to Raya Lucaria?
- Anonymous
Bad for boss combo attacks. Fantastic for delayed/massive damage attacks.
- Anonymous
I love this AoW, it feels amazing to use, it isn't over powered or anything, just a quality design translated into a great ability. Admittedly it is inconsistent. It often fails to trigger, I find it often won't trigger against foes behind me or that I am not locked onto. Also multi-hit abilities often don't trigger it.
- Anonymous
Definitely couldn’t hurt people while the skill was active they seem to have invincibility and hyper armor in air to me…
- Anonymous
I love this AoW, it’s wonderful, but sometimes it just... won’t work? Like I will use it and an attack will connect but the jump just doesn’t happen. Certain spells/AoWs that hit multiple times such as Loretta’s Slash, Hoarfrost Stomp, Frozen lightning spear, etc just don’t activate the leap on their first hits, which just leaves you open to the second hit every time. Idk why this is the case, and it’s really annoying.
- Anonymous
This is really but it probably needs a buff, I've never been hit by it becuase anytime a player used it against me, you can dodge out of the way before they counter or just tank and hit them again, if they use a smaller weapon. It's great on ai enemies tho.
- Anonymous
I really dislike that the leap is non-optional, it ruins the whole ability for me. There are many bosses who will do combos with fast consecutive hits, if you use this on their attacks you get put airborne where you can't dodge and just get killed by their next swing. The leap either needs way more iframes or some way to cancel it and stay on the ground so you don't get instantly killed by a follow up attack
- Anonymous
Really wish the jump after evading a move with this was optional. Sometimes it will just get you killed if the second attack comes out fast enough

go past the bamboo forest and beat the purple bro at the three-roofed pagoda to get this whacky ash of war!

How much FP does it use? Seems like an important bit of information.

I helped Yura on the bridge with this invasion but I cannot find this Ash of War in my inventory anywhere. What the hell? Did I miss something? I'm at end of game now and finished all the quest lines.

broken. been using this to decimate the local populace at academy gate

It actually does give hyperarmor but only when using the Raptor Claws.

On whiff, can be canceled to a crouching R1. Especially useful on Greatsword/Zweihander.

i see so many people not getting how this thing is supposed to be used. it could use a buff, yes, giving it hyperarmor and costing less FP would be nice, but even in its current state its very good. in conjunction with raptor's black feathers and/or claw talisman, and if youre using thrusting weapons w/ spear talisman too, youll do even BONKERS damage. also its much easier to punish with this than with rolling attacks bc its gonna do more damage, more posture damage, and has faster recovery i believe.
its also VERY good in pvp, people never see it coming, and its nigh unreactable against if youre using fast enough weapons and if theyre using slow weapons like ultras.
you can also chain them for maximum punishment.
- Anonymous
So does the slam attack scale with dex since this is a keen ash of war?
- Anonymous
0/10 can't poison myself and teleport all over the place like in sekiro
- Anonymous
Usually i just end up ducking below an attack, avoiding it that way, get thrown off by it and die.
- Anonymous
If anything, I find the crouch you pull off when you do this more useful than the actual AoW itself. You can pull off some crazy hitbox stuff with the crouch, ducking under enemy attacks like the Crucible Knight over and over again without any need to roll. I feel like when you proc the teleport, you're more likely to just get punished by a consecutive attack from the enemy.
Ultimately, not the greatest thing in the world, but useful depending on the enemy. It's a hit or...mist.
- Anonymous
if it whiffs, you press light attack to do your crouching attack
- Anonymous
It's neat, but much less versatile than its Sekiro counterpart.

Wish I had used this instead of slapping on a greatshield for waterfowl dance, now I feel like a filthy casul.

I don't understand how Bloodhound's Step, the best AoW in the game, costs only 5 fp and does what this Ash is supposed to do but far better, and yet this AoW costs nearly 3 times as much fp. I want to like this Ash since I have a strong hatred towards Bloodhound's Step, but why on earth is it more expensive? Additionally you need to actually use this at a proper moment while Bloodhound's can be spammed freely with no penalty. The only upside this AoW has it that you can use it without fp cost if you don't successfully land it, and the "free" jump attack you get can get you killed against certain weapons. It's so cool, I want it to be good.
- Anonymous
Anyone know if this allows you to evade enemy grabs too? Would rather run this over Bloodhound Step in my build, mostly because it seems like everyone runs Bloodhound Step - would rather run a different evasive tool if I can. I've tested it in a few different spots and it seems like you get caught in grabs anyway, but my timing might be garbage XD
- Anonymous
If you’re curious, like I was, this does count as a jump attack; affected by both Claw Talisman and Raptor’s Black Feathers.
I’m using dual whips. The jump attack from this skill without buffs was 421; 484 with Claw Talisman (15% increase); 531 with Raptor’s Black Feathers and Claw Talisman (~26% increase).
Hope this helps!

I don't know why you would wanna use that over Bloodhound step or Quickstep.

Amazing skill, yet not OP as requiring some thinking.
A good example use is against falling star beasts, some of their move is difficult to simply roll out (the 3 charges, the large delayed aoe, etc). This allows to easily solve that.
- Anonymous
I just found out this combos extremely well with Dragonbolt Blessing. Rather than stopping the attack, this just prevents you from losing health from it. Which means Dragonbolt Blessing will still stagger them after you evade into the air. This means you don’t have to worry about a second attack knocking you out of the air, or a player evading the air attack counter.

Best Ash of War if powerstancing Colossal Weapons since it gives you a free jump attack, I'm killing everyone on PVP this way.

Too bad we don't have to fight a purple ninja to get this item.

As of 1.3.2 this is no longer works against chariot. Can anyone confirm this?

- Anonymous
Basically a 100% block and forced guard counter hidden on a weapon. Really great when a big hit is coming. Won't do anything against grabs or status effects - it is functionally the same as blocking.

- Anonymous
I've had some success dealing with waterfowl dance by spamming raptor of the mists. Still not great that you have to change your build but at least I can use my weapon now instead of bloodhound claw.
- Anonymous
You can dodge the god awful chariots in hero graves by timing this right, just dont do it at the point where they turn unless you wanna get knocked out of the air by the damn thing turning around
Added some tips¬es. English isnt my first language so if anything is phrased weird edit it please.

Btw, this thing provides no hyperarmor, so make sure to at least have above 51 poise to not get knocked out of it while midair by light weapons, because they are fast enough to land 1 R1 before you finish this ash of war with jump attack,
This completely blanks the doughnut roll if you aren't too close to a true obstruction and aren't greedy. Since you can apply it to almost all of the melee weapons that can take an ash, I'd recommend everyone pick it up.
