This Ash of War grants an armament the Keen affinity and the following skill:
"Double Slash: Skill of superior swordsmen. Perform a crossing slash attack from a low stance. Repeated inputs allow for up to two follow-up attacks."
Usable on swords and polearms capable of slashing (colossal weapons excepted).

i wish it had a little more forward momentum, especially on the slower version of the move used by halberds and greatswords and such

Ash of War: Usable on swords and POLEARMS capable of SLASHING
Partisan - polearm
Partisan - capable of slashing
Partisan - can`t use this ash of war.
FromSoftware, wtf? Most spears have slash attacks from roll R1 or run R1
- Anonymous
Should be noted that bigger weapons will have slower followups.

this would be great if it shot out bleed projectiles, shame that doesnt exist...

This + gargoyle greatsword + soporific grease = rivers of riposte
- Anonymous
use on flameberg then add bloodflame and tada rivers of blood at home
- Anonymous
give better poise damage, or give better hyperarmor. then, this would be a truly fantastic ash of war.

Double slash(axes and greataxes have a sharp edge) not available on them... Sword dance(axes and greataxes are not swords) available on them... Lol I like sword dance some how being aloud but I feel they got this backwards
- Anonymous
kinda wish this was usable on axes and greataxes. i'd love to have double slash on my crescent axe
- Anonymous
I like to use it when I want to feel like an actual swordsmen instead of smashing my Claymore like a caveman

Nagakiba+bloodflame blade+double slash= poor mans Rivers of Blood

This Scarab is a little different to any of the others I've seen so far. I like to sneak up on them so I can kill them with one two-handed charged attacks before they can run into the middle of a group of enemies, I wasn't able to sneak up on this one though, I was on the same root as it and as soon as it saw me getting close it disappeared instantly, not in the way they usually do and you can still hit them if you can get to them before they completely vanish. I thought I had blown it and I'd have to try again after resetting at a site of grace. Except it hadn't actually disappeared, it had teleported itself further along the root away from me, hit it with frenzied burst and it was fine.

Shot the scarab from the Sellia Under-Stair grace with a Black Bow.
- Anonymous
interesting tool to catch people off guard if you use it on a greatsword, but dont expect to hit it often.

this plus nagakiba plus bloodflame for we've got rivers of blood at home.

This skill is highly effective when it comes to triggering your opponent’s RoB ptsd.
- Anonymous
is there nay point on using this on gretsword? (not colossals) just using thebasic R1 combo seems fast does more damage and cost no fp??????
- Anonymous
Is found right above- and can be sniped from the Sellia Under-Stair grace.
- Anonymous
why can the lucerne use this, but the cross nagata can't! Time for tears...
- Anonymous
Why aren't greataxes included in "polearms" :( it would make sense to include them except for thrusting ashes of war
- Anonymous
Has higher poise damage than wild strikes (the swings not the heavy or light), repeating thrusts, and sword dance. But not more than spinning slash or impaling thrust which makes sense since it does less overall damage per hit than those two, making it a good all around for GS and CGS should you need to hit faster for bleed buildup or just like. Works for katanas too but you're better off using unsheathe since you can't get as consistent staggers on enemies you would realistically use this on, i.e. knights, and katanas already hit fast enough to build statuses if that's your goal.
It actually shares the same animations as the Corpsepiler WA on Rivers of Blood minus the cancer.

Cant be equipped on the Cross-Naginata... I feel lied to...
- Anonymous
This thing, on a glaive with heavy infusion is not bad at all
- Anonymous
So... why is it that Sword Dance is usable on Spears, but Double Slash isn't, despite the nearly identical requirements?
- Anonymous
Double Slash or Flame of the Redmanes for my Keen Nagakiba + Weapon Buff?
- Anonymous
For those who claim it's bugged: You can still apply the Ash of War at any Site of Grace, but it will not show up in the inventory. I don't know if this affects NG+ and if you keep it or have to reacquire it via Teardrop again.
- Anonymous
I guess i have to wait until NG+? Apparently I don't have the ash of war in my inventory but I also don't have the scarab spawning there wtf?

this on occult flamberge with 80 arc is huge dps with insane stagger and bleed. very good in both pve and pvp

What's this look like if you are powerstancing? Do you hit 4 times?
- Anonymous
Not a bad option for fights that give you only very small openings.

You can get this ash easily by going to the Sellia under stair grace and shooting it with a bow. Its on the root above you and won’t run away if you shoot it.

This skill was found as strong with Greatswords. Here's why: This skill with any GS could make most enemies(including knight mobs)in this game get staggered by every each hit. Curved-Greatswords can't do that. Unlike Dark souls 3, Greatswords have higher poise dps than Curved-Greatswords. However, if you use curvedswords or Curved-greatswords, this skill won't make some knight mobs get staggered.(other skills that have higher poise attack are required, such as Sword dance). the point of this skill on GS is just using the GS' high poise attack in this series. Bleed build GS with this skill would be also good
- Anonymous
Not entirely sure why, but this scarab is not spawning for me at all, nor do I have the AoW in my inventory. I have defeated Morgott, did some of Millicent's quest. I remember this scarab spawning when I first came here but coming back it does not seem to appear at all. Not sure what happened. On PC.
- Anonymous
So, what's the use case for this over Sword Dance? They seem almost identical on paper--same weapon categories (+axes for Sword Dance), same cost (6 FP), three strikes total (with repeat inputs), Keen affinity, etc.
Has anyone tested them side-by-side?
- Anonymous
I killed the scarab but did not obtain an ashes of war. Be wary of that bug.
- Anonymous
This ash of war is actually pretty good on greatswords and halberds if you like to run status affinities. The animation itself is slower on these heavier weapons, but status buildup per hit is also higher. Currently playing around with it on a Blood Claymore, and with high arcane, the first double slash will proc bloodloss, and the followup triple slash will proc another bloodloss on just about everything that can bleed that doesn't have high resistances.

Seems that either weapon type or weapon weight affects the speed of the strikes. On an Uchigatana it's really fast, but loses a lot of speed on Twinblade. Be it because of weight or type, I'm not sure. But it's one of the two
- Anonymous
PVE: This thing can't stagger anyone nor does it boost your poise. Can't be used to trade.
- Anonymous
Can be used on Reaper class weapons, which are a subtype of slashing Polearms. This means natural bleed and range, with possible Cold infusions, or grease related buffs.
- Anonymous
This cannot be equipped on the Cross-Naginata, and I would assume the other spears with slashes/sweeps. "Polearms capable of slashing" apparently means just halberds.

Nagakiba. Double Slash. Bloodflame Blade.
Melts any boss, enemy or even fellow Tarnished if it so pleases you.

Double Slash on a Claymore absolutely destroys enemies that stagger often from normal attacks. Amazing wakeup move after a posture break crit. Slapped on a Freezing Grease on my Heavy Claymore +25, summoned my trusty Mimic Tear, and annihilated Melina with frostbitten stunlocks.
- Anonymous
I like it on curved swords. Looks cool, gets some good hits in, but doesn't have much posture damage. Also good potential for mixups in PvP since the timings can be varied heavily.
- Anonymous
This might pair well with the CROSS-NAGINATA, since the weapon art that comes with that is already generic. Could apply bleed stacks pretty quickly, if bleed grease is stacked on top of the weapon's base bleed. Claws or daggers would probably bleed faster, but this would have some better range as a tradeoff.
- Anonymous
Unfortunately, the speed is effected by the weapon type. I wish I could run this on a claymore :((.
though it can almost 50/50 light attack into weapon art.
- Anonymous
Seems disappointing for posture damage. That said, there are options for that. Might pair well with bleed/frost. Lots of hits. Looks cooler than wild strikes and sword dance to me.
- Anonymous
ive seen in YT, this exact same movement, but, with blood, anyone have any idea? I couldnt find it in this wiki. Maybe I'm even misunderstanding it with a blood infusion or something?
- Anonymous
The Teardrop Scarab will disappear when you approached it on horse. Maybe I wasnt stealthy enough or it's the mechanic, so I used a non upgraded bow and shot it and the scarab died in one hit.
This weapon arte is similar to Rivers of Blood Katana's arte without the blood effect
- Anonymous
This can be chained up to 3 times and does a lot of powerful hits. I do not know if the animations vary depending on the weapon however, on a katana it does seem very fitting.
This on a Bloodflame Blade Nagakiba: Dollar Store Corpse Piler.
