Kinda weird how slashy weapons still deal slash damage when you apply this and cover entirety of blade with rocks... Should maybe turn damage type to strike? Idk.

      • Anonymous

This skill is insanely strong on maces/clubs/hammers. Most bosses have multiples of 40 stance, but hammers usually deal very slightly less than 40 stance damage (I think it's 39.5 or something stupid like this) on a fully-charged heavy, which the Cragblade bonus can put above 40. So you effectively only need three hits when you previously needed four to stagger a boss.

Not entirely sure if this is confirmed to actually stack but i'm currently running cragblade on dual wielded blood Iron Ball. the powerstance heavy attacks with both iron balls having cragblade are mad fast and together with flask+charging talisman do ridiculous dmg+poisedmg. prob the strongest strength build ive ever used in any souls game

          • Anonymous

shard of alexander works for the slamming animation but doesnt add damage to the buff and olds lord talisman does nothing at all

            • Anonymous

Why not just write that it can go on every weapon class except whips instead of writing out every weapon class except whips?

              • Anonymous

This thing is OP in PvP on my Bloody Godskin Stitcher while 2 handed. So easy to stunlock people, even poise monsters, with a simple R1. Loving it, even though my weapon now looks like a giant stick of rock candy.

                • Anonymous

Did they reduce the poise buff or the poise damage of APPLYING the buff, because that does damage to health and poise and it isn't clear which they are talking about.

                  • Why would they nerf this? I can understand the flame of redmanes nerf but at least cragblade requires you to get down and dirty to land a stun.

                    • Anonymous

It would have been very simple and smart to lock this to hammers, great swords and curved great swords. Guess I just gotta accept it’s gonna be a permanent resident on curved swords and thrust swords.

                      • Anonymous

The extra stagger is percent based so not very effective on small weapons like thrusting sword, straight swords, daggers and fists

                        • Anonymous

Use this ash on thrusting weapons that don't have slashing/AoEattacks. Rapier, stitcher, spear or harpoon.

So I was just messing with a variety of stuff with a Heavy Greatsword build because I essentially started as a fire "normal" greatsword with like flaming strike and whatnot and then really liked the moveset of the ultra class so I eventually switched to the Greatsword. Long story short at 75 strength and 2-handing I have 863 AR, cragblade alone goes to 993, FGMS is 1099, and Golden Vow brings it up to 1264 and then you 2-hand for 1370, now some of that is nerfed in pvp but FGMS is still 15% instead of 20 and GV is still 7.5% but even then it's still around 1200 AR which is like ash of war damage on your regular moveset. An R1 did 1500 to a bat by Fort Farroth for example

thinking about a pvp build with this and stonebarb tear on my multihitting weapons, so that I can actually sometimes get the hits off, good idea yea or nay?

                              • Anonymous

FYI: Giant Crusher +25 does 895 damage at 60 Str two handed. Apply Cragblade, and you get 1030 damage for entire minute, along with godly poise breaking +20% poise damage... Complete bonkers...

Now, take Brick Hammer for example. 748 pure physical damage at same stats, but being Great Hammer class instead of Colossal means you can swing about 1.5x times faster. Apply Cragblade aaaaand.... 860 damage.

Now to bullsheet levels - Nightrider Glaive. Halberd with godly damage, it gets whopping 734 damage at 60 str. With Cragblade you are looking at ~844 damage with increased poise damage...

                                • Anonymous

Thinking of putting these on two daggers with bleed maybe.
The extra stagger plus the tear might actually do some meaningful staggering, without enemies just shrugging off the dagger hits.

I kinda wish this was more like Ledo's Hammer's weapon art and you slammed your weapon into the ground and did a powerful swing as you pulled it back out.

                                    • Anonymous

I was hoping it turned slashing and standard damage type moves to strike, and something better than 10% extra poise and damage. If it's too op for pvp (which compared to other things I think it's not), at the very least it should have a good bonus to stance damage, which only affects pve enemies.

                                      • Anonymous

This on a pickaxe and the poise damage tear is pretty fun for PvE, just constantly knocking around your enemies

                                        • Anonymous

Braggart's Roar is almost strictly better in all regards to this Ash of War. While it does around 1% less damage and loses the 10% poise damage bonus entirely, it makes up for it by having an increase to stamina recovery speeds by 10% and also gets a 5% defense increase (even if it isn't directly listed in stats). It will also change your R2 attacks into a different animation. Lastly it also drags aggro onto you in the scenario that you are playing with others, which could be fun to use in a rough situation for somebody else. Both buffs last 30 seconds, take the same amount of fp to use, and have roughly the same casting time. I see no reason to use this, and hope it gets a buff in the future.

                                          • Anonymous

imo should be bumped up to 20% more poise damage, since that would make it clear a bunch of poise breakpoints

                                            • Anonymous

I’m trying to make a decent build with this AoW because I think it’s really cool. So far I’m thinking of using the Executioner’s Greataxe because it has good AR and 115 crit.

                                              • Anonymous

is this really any good? i've been trying to use it but it has 0 poise while casting it and it's so slow_ to top it all off you don't get the actual buff until you pull the weapon out of the ground and if you get interrupted before that you get no buff and just wasted 16 fp... even if you manage to get the buff up it only lasts 30 seconds

                                                • Anonymous

Use this with a weapon with split damage for maximum damage output. If your a strength build use a fire enchantment, dex use lightning and so forth. Since normally you cant buff weapons with split damage this gives you a buff on said weapon.

                                                  • Anonymous

This is amazing on morning star, it allow you to boost its 2H running Heavy Trust attack from 132 poise damage to 145 wich allow you to poise break anyone with 133 poise.

                                                    • Anonymous

                                                      Checked this in Yapped:

                                                      Lasts 30 seconds

Increases Physical Attack Power by 10%

Increases Shield Stamina Damage by 20%

                                                      Increases Poise Damage by 10%

                                                      • Anonymous

Its interesting to note that you can stack this with Fire Affinity together Flame Grant me Strength and Golden Vow. Use it on high stance breaking weapons and watch as bosses stagger so fast in a few hits.

                                                        • Anonymous

This is conceptually the same skill as Ledo's Hammer but worse in every respect. There at least should have been an attack you could do to discard the rocks, again, like Ledo's Hammer. The starcallers themselves do this exact thing when they use cragblade so I dont know what From was thinking with this AoW. If it was a spell it might be worth using.

                                                          • Anonymous

It might be just me, but cragblade is broken. If I have another ash of war on a weapon, use cragblade, it won't appear, but the affinity changes with what I chose for cragblade. So I can have bleed on something like hoarfrost stomp lol.

                                                            • Anonymous

Would this on twin daggers, paired with the poise damage increase physik be enough to reliably stagger someone with the powerstance combo?

                                                              • Anonymous

I slapped this on a heavy thrusting sword and it works great. They already have decent stagger so if you catch someone with a riposte you can basically true combo with light attacks. Also breaks crystalian poise in two hits. Good stuff

                                                                • Anonymous

Do this and roar skills attack power increases apply to both weapons when powerstancing or just the weapon the skill is on?

I'm trying to get a weapon buff that affects both weapons in my buff rotation while still being able to maintain fire damage on them.

                                                                  • Anonymous

Very creative weapon buff, I like it a lot. Stance breaking needs a slight buff frankly (not including jump attacks), and this AoW needs a slightly larger hitbox on both when you shove it into the earth and pull it up (it's a very, very small hitbox) and be slightly faster so that they effectively true combo, like Lightning Strike.

                                                                    • Anonymous

This should have been part of starscourge GS WA. You literally see Radahn doing this. Damn shame it wasn’t implemented to be together.

                                                                      • Anonymous

Sucks that this doesn't allow light bladed weapons to hit rocky enemies without getting deflected considering it literally covers your weapon in stone

                                                                        • Anonymous

This is meant to be used with attacks that already do high posture damage so use it with: Jump Attacks, Guard Counters and R2s, also two handing a weapon seems to increase it's posture damage.

                                                                          • Anonymous

The stance damage appears to be a percentage based buff rather than a flat amount like other weapon enhancements. On both a twinblade and cestus-type weapon, it still took multiple full combos to stagger Leyndell soldiers with R1s with or without the buff active. Pretty sad, it would have beeen cool to stance break bosses with actual combos instead of spamming jump attack or weapon art over and over.

                                                                            • Anonymous

Easily the best PVE buff for a weapon, **** the AR increase, the damage to stances is what makes this incredible, Elden Ring becomes Sekiro for 30 seconds, I can almost see those posture meters filling up.

                                                                                • Anonymous

It's too late and I'm too lazy to sit down and add detailed info, but here's info that doesn't exist on the wiki I'll add from testing:
Hard to say, but noticeable increase in stance break on shields. Testing was done on weak enemies since I'm too lazy and tired to thoroughly test on tough enemies.
The both shoving the weapon into the ground and removing it from the ground are their own separate attacks. Their damage seems to be relative to special R1s like dash or roll attacks. That said, the stance-break on inserting (while buffed with cragblade already) was able to stance break a shield akin to a dash/jump heavy.

Stance breaking is my favorite mechanic in this game, coming from history with From game where it was possible in DS3 and a focus in Sekiro, it's shaping up to be very nicely woven in. Would love to know how this stacks up against other Ashes for stance breaking

For the record for anyone who bothered to read all that **** or skim here: Glintstone Phalanx is the TOP DOG for Ashes StanceBreak. I have tested on DOZENS of enemies with DOZENS of Ashes, charge attacks, jump attacks, etc, Glintstone Phalanx takes the cake for stance breaking. 1-3 breaks ANYTHING, I mean ANYTHING. If it doesn't it requires stance-break damage during certain animations, or is immune, it's that simple.

                                                                                  • I would actually found this one exceptionally useful, if the bonus would apply to any scaling you choose for this ash of war. It would actually match with magic aand int scaling since gravity stuff is presented as 'sub genre' for spells as well. And then there's the Gravitas ash of war. This could've been a very interesting ash for any build.

STR Scaling increase is quite decent! Sixty-Nine STR +19 Heavy Greatsword went from 752 to 827 when 2 handed! Interested to see how the poise damage and stagger buildup increase. It's speed being faster than the warcry class if I'm not mistaken could lend to it having a niche in both pve and pvp. Excited to see where this goes.

However, it acts as a weapon buff , so it will overwrite anything else that you current have on it. For example, if you use scholar's armament and then cragblade, only cragblade will be applied.
