Sword encrusted with a line of stars fashioned from small pieces of crude glintstone. Weapon of the demi-human swordsmen. When bestowed with this weapon by their queen, the swordsmen swear to find the truth that lies at the end of the procession of stars.

Why does the player weapon do bleed when the boss wielding this does frostbite?
- Anonymous
I don't know why everyone is saying this should be a light greatsword when katanas are decent and light greatswords suck, they do no poise damage. Plus as a katana it gets free bleed which the AoW takes incredible advantage of. Making this a LGS would be a massive nerf.

I'm 60 int 24 dex, so of course my AR is low, very low actually. But people say how strong the skill is and either it is scaling with dex or they are lying, at least for pvp, cause my damage was very low. Anyway i dont care that much about damage, I care about the moveset and its not my favourite. I wish the skill would combo better with standard attacks

Compare the looks of this to rellana's twin blades and it fits the class to a T , it definitely should have been a light great sword.
How , pray tell , is this weapon supposed to look like a katana?
It has a western guard and pommel , the blade has next to no curve and to top it all off, it gets the generic katana moveset that is boring as all hell...
Associated with small but deadly swordmasters
Has an attack featuring hard-light slashing attacks
Lots of funny maneuvers
This is a lightsabre

Incredibly fun AoW. Base damage is fine when you’re flipping around like a Demihuman Jedi Shinobi master. Surprisingly good poise damage for many enemies. If you’re going into DLC at RL 200+ this weapon feels incredibly busted.
Combine with mage build, even despite the ok Int scaling, and you have a fun balanced build that can cast but also slice anybody into green glowing goo if they get too close.

Absolutely disgusting damage and stagger, and has BLEED!?
I cant think of a single more well rounded weapon in the game, destroys moonveil in damage, the L2 isn't even close ( 2550 vs 4010 ) swings faster and has longer reach.

I hope the DLC has a Faith Katana.
Adds another Intelligent one

We should be allowed to teach boc how to use this thing so that he can be even more awesome as our little buddy. I want to see him as he runs into battle with us.

Someone should make a petition to turn this into a light greatsword or longsword even. Doesn't even look like a Katana.
I guess someone could make a mod of that, but you couldn't play online...
I do wish it proc Frostbite like in the Yosh fight. I genuinely don't understand why it doesn't actually. Wonder if it's something they could patch or not in the future. The bleed just makes it so much more comparable to the Moonveil.

Looks like a Light Great-sword, enemies wielding it use it like a Light Great-sword. DLC already has a similar Katana, that actually is a Katana. There's only 3 Light Great-swords in the DLC; the main game has loads of Katanas, including magic Katanas. This MF don't even let you do the Judgement cut.
Why's it a Katana...? Wildly confusing choices with a lot of these DLC weapons.

Messmer's spear has a long ash of war like this and does 2-3x damage of this.

They really did INT build dirty in the DLC. This weapon is godawful in terms of damage.

Not only should this have been a light greatsword instead of a katana, but it should also had had frost buildup instead of bleed considering the enemy who uses it builds of frostbite.

Ah yes, the hardest choice. Do you want your sword to deal good damage, but have mediocre Ash of War damage, or, do you want your sword to be an Ash of War stick and deal absolutely trash non-AoW damage.
- Anonymous
Moonveil is for high INT builds, this seems like more a DEX weapon, like how Meteoric Ore Blade has a INT requirement but is really the STR katana. And unlike the Moonveil, this weapon art can activate successive hit damage boosts and has a dodge animation like Bloodhound Step.
- Anonymous
I also think it would make a better light greatsword. Having a katana moveset without needing to have a katana is cool though.
- Anonymous
Did we really need another int katana? Not only is this tragically not a light greatsword, but it’s also not the faith katana we are still lacking for the true fusion of god and anime.
- Anonymous
Cool weapon, but why another int dex katana? We already had moonveil; while dex arcane build has RoB, faith dex doesn’t have a dedicated katana.

Possibly the prettiest weapon in the ENTIRE game. It looks SO GOOD. Not sure why they made it a Katana tho, could've made a pretty good light greatsword.

From really doesn't want to give up on they're anime moveset katanas, no matter how busted things like Frayed Blade, Moonveil, and ROB are.

I NEEDED this weapon as soon as I saw it during the boss fight against the demi human. My favorite weapon design of the entire game. Shame that it's just a katana moveset which I'm kind of sick of by now, and there are so many other cool new weapons to use.

Ah yes katanas famous for their cross guards, straight blades and pommels.
This should've been a straight sword or light greatsword and we all know it.
Instead it's Moonveil At Home.

Worth it for someone who has min Dex but full Int? I use Moonviel currently
- Anonymous
Alright so for anyone curious, I ran this thing through some tests.
Bare min STR/DEX, 80 INT: AoW hit a giant land squirt for about 3800
Bare min STR/INT, 80 DEX: Same test did about 3600.
I ran some additional checks and it appears the magic super long blade that goes around the blade during the AoW scales PURELY with INT, but since the sword has good DEX scaling and bad INT scaling, if you hit them with the physical sword during the AoW the damage is fairly equal with INT edging out ahead by a little.
In summary, if you're gonna spam the AoW like a monkey, focus on INT. If you're gonna use it like a real sword, focus on DEX and use the ash at close range.
Also, it triggers Millicent's/Rotten Winged/Thorny Tear to HUGE effect. Use them.

It has only B scaling in Dex cuz AoW does multiple DMG so they didnt want to make it super OP by giving it B scaling in int?
- Anonymous
honestly very dissapointing weapon. Fully built into it and it only does slightly more damage with a full combo than a single moonveil attack.
- Anonymous
Really powerful weapon against anything that cant poise through the ash. Disgusting

This thing is insane, aow easily breaks through cleanrot knights stance when they are guarding, just spam the button and you dish out damage by the thousands while being completely untouchable

Very Fancy Weapon Art with a long Combo. Usability is questionable because the opposite from Moonveils fast and easy attacks.

This may be my favorite weapon to date. It's regular attacks done deal a lot of damage, but it's AoW is very fun to use, and if you land it right can do a nice chunk of damage. One of the few weapons in the game with a 3-phase AoW. Very slick in pvp as well. Overall a solid weapon I'd say. It also looks really cool
