Death Knight's Twin Axes is an Axe in Elden Ring. It was added with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. The Death Knight's Twin Axes scales primarily with Strength, Dexterity and Faith and is a good Weapon for faith builds. This comes with the Blinkbolt: Twinaxe skill, which transforms you into a bolt of lightning.
Golden war axes of the Death Knight.
A pair of weapons made to be wielded in both hands.
Crackles with lightning, the power of the capital's ancient dragon cult.
The knight, once the personal guard of Godwyn, was also the protector of the Prince of Death's cadaver surrogate.

These things are really cool but have the unfortunate fate of being powerstanced axes in Elden Ring. Enjoy uselessly smashing your axes into the floor with every attack that isn't L2!
- Anonymous
Spam this in a duel and you're catching a jumping colossal heavy to the face. In a gank though yeah it's obnoxious.
This is exactly the type of weapon I don't like. Garbage moveset, spammy ash that **** players love to crutch on. By contrast the Longhaft axe is actually a well designed weapon with the superior version of the greataxe moveset.
- Anonymous
Thank god none of you whiners are smart enough to free aim the fist part in a random direction and then lock in for the second part for absurd damage and spell combo potential. PvP would be that much more annoying
- Anonymous
I honestly like these.
some positiv points: you can wield them with low stat requirements and you dont need high stats for them to do damage (I guess its because the lightning damage) so you can focus on other stuff like vigor or endurance. most you get out of this is by weapon level not by scalings. the weight is also pretty low, lower then powerstancing battleaxes (damage is also higher then lightning infusions on them). If you are an axe-enjoyer like me that is a fair point.
Downgrades: obviously the moveset . the only thing that really enoys me is that the R1 hits seperatly on normal attack and jumping attack (rolling attack you hit with both axes at the same time) I think at least the jumping attacks should hit with both axes at once.
- Anonymous
Doing a death knight build and I only use these for the ash SOMETIMES. Longhaft axe is so good tho
- Anonymous
When attacking, the second part of the chain makes some weird noise when the second axe slams into the ground. It doesn't do this when you have a weapon on the offhand. Not seals, though. They still cause it to make the noise. No other axe has this problem. It genuinely sounds ass and needs to be fixed.
- Anonymous
Tried to make it work without having every single talisman and tear dedicated to buffin its damage...and it really is a piece of dogshit. A weapon shouldn't require 10 buffs in order to perform well. Won't even talk about the 2h moveset else id trigger some ptsd. This, the longshaft and ash of war blinkbolt deserve some buffs

All they had to do was give these weapons the Winged Knight Twinaxes moveset and everyone would've been happy
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
I absolutely despise the dual wielding moveset of axes, feels like they barely do any poise damage and follow-ups are downright impossible. Even though I love this weapon I always one-hand it, opens space for casting incantations.
- Anonymous
Well, no buff or fix to the poor tracking on the followup this patch, hoping the next one fixes it but still my favorite weapon.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Friendly reminder that you don't HAVE to 2 hand this weapon
- Anonymous
the classic elden ring story of mid weapon carried by incredible ash of war
- Anonymous
Well, prepare your flasks. It's balanced for pvp, so pve is funny nightmare
- Anonymous
The only reason anyone ever uses these is to spam the weapon skill. In PVP, no one EVER uses the basic axe move set. It's spam spam spam, over and over again.

There are very few faith weapons in this game. There are, however, a lot of Str, Dex and Quality weapons with varying faith requirements.
- Anonymous
I heard the scaling changed, what kind of build should you use with this now?
- Anonymous
Is this weapon good for pve? And what ideal stat to put my level in
- Anonymous
Hmm, if i were to mainly use dragon cult incantations with a pure faith build, could these work for melee? Obviously not expecting big numbers on these but i feel these could come in handy in some situations when you dont feel like spending FP. I believe these are the only weapons beside the perfume bottle that do lightning dmg while scaling with faith.
- Anonymous
Most of the time, I accept that Elden Ring's more aggressive and fast-paced combat, even despite the L2 spam and massive damage, stands up better than the spacing fest of ds3.
Until I see the axe powerstance moveset. Then I instantly want to just go back to ds3 and feel what a real moveset is like again.
- Anonymous
Of course it doesnt. Why should I bear hatred to someone who's obviously weaker than myself? all I feel is pity.
- Anonymous
so bascially it deals like 300 less damage now after patch bu whatever
- Anonymous

- Anonymous
This got stealth nerfed in the recent patch. it now scales like the greataxe. Str/dex for physical, faith only for lightning. Rip
- Anonymous
Dodging it in 1v2 is the easiest thing ever. Just roll once forward slightly to the side. Done.
Blinkbolt axe spammers will spam it like 3-4 more times and start to rethink their entire life

If the ashe was parryable it wouldn't be so annoying in pvp.
- Anonymous
The scaling on this is bugged, for some reason it uses the same AttackElementCorrectParam as all of the smithscript weapons, instead of the one the death knight greataxe uses. That's why physical damage scales with STR/DEX/INT/FTH and the lightning damage only scales with DEX. So honestly despite having the lowest scaling, DEX should give the best damage returns.
The one the death knight greataxe uses has physical damage scale with STR/DEX and lightning damage scale ONLY with holy.
- Anonymous
I did some testing on my LV125 vagabond, here are the results.
Minimal Investment(14str 13dex 16fai):
Physical-334
Lightning-171
Total-506.
Strength Build(59str 13dex 16fai):
Physical-440
Lightning-171
Total-612.
Dexterity Build(14str 58dex 16fai):
Physical-403
Lightning-216
Total-619.
Faith Build(14str 13dex 61fai):
Physical-419
Lightning-171
Total-591.
Conclusion: Unlike the Deathknight's Longhaft Axe, the Twin Axe faith scaling only gives more physical dmg, but dexterity gives both physical and lightning, if you want more damage on the axes, dump your levels on dex/strength and just a few on faith. It's sad that the faith scaling doesn't increase the lightning damage, but if you have a lot of faith you can use lightning spells anyway
- Anonymous
Tested this. My strength is at 10. When I two hand I can perform the AoW despite there being an X on the weapon. Damage output is also greater and doesn't match what is displayed. The game credits me extra strength points when two handing despite there being an X. This is optimal for min maxing.
- Anonymous
The weapon art is useless against high poise, also roll forward instead of back since it has difficulty backtracking, you will get hit but just a little.
- Anonymous
PVP: if you stay in range of the AOW, you can just hit them out of the spinning attack before it starts, just take a bit chip damage from the teleport. If you swing slower, you just need to time it a bit early. Just don't hang back very far, because you won't be able to hit them and the spin will start. At this point, I just look at them and wait for the AOW, it's very funny.
- Anonymous
L2 to win.
FromSoft really introduced a lot of cool new AoW's and spells for this DLC, they also didn't care to balance them out for PvP which is a complete afterthought in this game for them and it shows.
- Anonymous
For some reason lightning damage scales with dex, and phys with not only str but fth too? From is doing anything to give us lightning faith weapons smh. that aside, fairly cool weapons.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
People defending this and other trash aow spam weapons is the reason fromsoft will turn into a cod clone releasing clone after clone pretty soon
- Anonymous
If you powerstance, the R1 on the second axe sounds like a club when you hit the ground
Literally unplayable
- Anonymous
Lol at all the people crying about any weapons/equipment in the comment section about them either being broken or too weak in PvP. You do know that Elden Ring is a PvE game first and foremost, right? PvP is an afterthought and you can cope all you like.
- Anonymous
The AOW is sadly abused by brainless spammers who can't pvp for ****. Cool weapon overall though.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
another BS aow introduced in the dlc with this L2 spam weapon. what the hell is FS doing?
- Anonymous
You never really realize how many iframes that ash has on startup until you fight someone who spams it 10 times in a row.
- Anonymous
Dex seems to scale better than str? Maybe I'm just doing something wrong. 16 str with 60 dex/50 fai does 644. If you reverse the str and dex it's 639? Not a Huge difference but no need to respec if you're dex/faith because that D is a lie
- Anonymous
The dex scaling seems better than the str scaling? I'm I losing my mind. Baseline dex to hold vs. Baseline str to hold at 50 faith dex does more damage...
- Anonymous
You know what really sucks about those? For once I was excited to have lightning weapons that scale with faith for my pure faith build. But the lightning damage still scales with fking dex! And it has D in dex! WHY?!!
- Anonymous
You don't know true power until you use the first part of the skill to narrowly dodge an attack and then rip your opponent to shreds with the followup afterwards in PVP.

"Prince of Death's cadaver surrogate" is that a fancy way of saying Fia?
- Anonymous
From is incapable of adding something that doesn't totally ruin pvp in some way. I've never seen more people AoW spamming in my life.
Cool in PVE though.
- Anonymous
These look good with the Death Knight set, which buffs Dragon Cult spells. Main draw to this weapon is aesthetics to match the DK set and lightning theme, and the great skill on it. Blinkbolt: Twinaxe is a blast to use. As an actual weapon and move set it's just 'ok' but the R1 is decent enough. R2 is bad.
- Anonymous
Powerstanced axe moveset is alright, not great, but these are very fashionable. You're really using them for the skill; if you run Milicent's, Rotten Winged Sword, Alexander Shard, and a multi-hit physic, there is very little in the game that won't take like 30% of it's HP. The problem is landing the full thing, but the Blinkbolt portion has i-frames and movements, so you can make it work with practice. Once you get it down, it legitimately feels like you're playing a different game.
- Anonymous
Using these things makes me realize just how bad the power stanced axe move set is.
- Anonymous
welcome back dragonslayer crescent...... no. it's not the same.
- Anonymous
Love these things, but the one thing that sorta disappoints me is faith not increasing the lightning damage on these. Like, I’m fairly sure that almost objectively better since that means less split damage (faith increases physical damage here iirc), but it’d be a lot cooler is all ;(
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Please, Fromsoft, DO NOT LET the PvP crybabies pester you into nerfing these bad boys.
- Anonymous
At 60 FTH, lightning gets +16 damage. Absolute dogshit FTH scaling.
- Anonymous
Some bastard on playstation hiding up on that one roof in the middle of Liurnia, using taunter's tongue, only comes down to finish you off with aow spam after their hunters wear you down. I kept reinvading him to waste his time. Watched him die a few times from other Recusants since I was doing pacifist invasions. He had the gall to teabag me after I got killed by one of the blues. /rant
anyone else think the tracking on these is maybe a bit too strong? I have yet to find a way to escape this that isn’t either a nearly frame 1 react with Miriam’s vanishing or just hyperarmor trading. Could actually be a pretty cool and fun to fight AoW if they just made the turn radius a fair bit wider; it would be like a snappier and less committal version of giant hunt in terms of usage, good as a longer range distance closer in order to shut down longer setups. The trade off compared to giant hunt should be that it does a fair bit less damage and also doesn’t launch opponents; more versatility of use but less power.
- Anonymous
Absolute cancer when going against two people spamming the skill with a third guy shooting sleep arrows that track to you.
- Anonymous
Even though the scaling stats say that these will scale with strength better 80 dex, 80 fth, and 22 strength will get you 782 AR compared to 80 str, 80 fth, and 22 dex getting you 775. Idk if the lightning damage scales off of dex on this weapon but it seems that as of right now, this weapon likes dex at later levels a little more than str.
- Anonymous
Great and fun pve weapon that is going to be nerf cause of pvp losers
- Anonymous
What is the death prince body surrogate? Did myazacky forgot to remove references to godwyn final boss before after the retcon?
- Anonymous
Honestly at this point I'd be fine with them just copy pasting the winged knight twinaxes over with literally no change, even if it looks super out of place in the engine. I just want the sensation of a good axe moveset in my hands again
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
This is a brilliant weapon for invasions, and unlike Swift Slash, its ash of war has a huge and easy counter: you can just roll into the followup and it will never connect, throwing your opponent a kilometer away from you. So it's good against panicking coopers and bad players, and countering it is literally a skill issue.
- Anonymous
Ignore the haters. It's an ideal ER weapon because you only need to press one button: L2. Ignore R1 and R2 (like 90% of players do anyway) and just spam its high skill, low risk, high reward WA.
- Anonymous
Oh hey we finally got Faith-scaling Lightning damage on a weapon and From instantly removes it next patch. No fun allowed, see y'all when they ruin the Longhaft the same way.
- Anonymous
quick and dirty testing has 53 str/18 dex slightly outdamaging 18 str/53 dex on both r1 and r2 l2.
Powerstance on axes are godawful so just one hand this tbh.
- Anonymous
When I first got them I thought "no way they updated the powerstance moveset and just gave it to a new weapon"
No, these still use the same copypaste moveset across axes and hammers
GG
- Anonymous
The twin axes physical damage scale off both faith and str, and the lightning damage scales off dex. However, the death knight long axe has it's physical damage scale of str/dex and the lightning damage scales off faith.
- Anonymous
As cool as the ash of war is its still disappointing that its R2s are just basic one handed axe heavies that don't use both axes. It feels like the weapon is just unfinished. Compared to other paired weapons like claws, Ornamental Straight Swords, Backhand Blades etc etc its practically has half the moveset : no R2s or charged R2s, running R2s, or jumping R2s that use both weapons.
It makes you wonder if you'd just be better off using it one handed with a shield or casting implement in your left hand. Which is kind of sad for a new paired weapon.
- Anonymous
As of 1.13, the optimal stat distribution for this probably changed completely. DEX now increases the Lightning damage (on top of physical), making it better than STR. FTH no longer increases Lightning damage, but increases physical instead, making it only slightly worse than STR.
DEX/FTH seems to be the way to go.
- Anonymous
Unless these things got a buff or something, I don’t see the problem here? These things MELT enemies for me. These things do more damage for me than the longhaft variant does. This lowkey might be my favorite weapon in the game.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
quit crying about the powerstance axe moveset ffs, did you ignore the badass aow on this or something???
- Anonymous
These axes are VERY good, very awesome weapon art and a good design... but my god is it obnoxious in PvP. Covers enormous range, does huge amounts of damage, very little downtime, and has the Bloodhounds Step invisibility which can throw off timing and spacing. All in all, very awesome weapon, just needs a slight bit of PvP tuning
- Anonymous
Pros of this weapon:
- Cool looking
- Great weapon art
Cons of this weapon:
- Axe
- Anonymous
Ash of war is cool but really disappointed they have the basic axe moveset, especially since twin axes have the worst powerstance moveset.
- Anonymous

IM IN LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!!! Death Knight killed me with style and i smiled after i ripped the axe out of that boss dead body
The moment I found out you can be staggered out of wa follow-up after you dash (80 poise!) this weapon went from A tier to dookie tier for me
- Anonymous
literally the only weapon in the dlc I've found disappointing, the WA is so cool but the damage needs so many charms and buffs to hold up to the norm
- Anonymous
Honestly wish they would just revise the entire dual axe moveset. It's been notoriously bad since day one and you're generally better off just two-handing a single axe.
- Anonymous
I know everyone's miffed about its weird scaling and the powerstance axe moveset still sucking, but these things are a beast at catching anything and anyone trying to run away from you thanks to that hilarious Ash. Give it a try, even if it's just for a soft or hardswap to chase people down.
- Anonymous
damn, not even a unique R2 that uses both the axes. bad effort, from. give axes some love.
- Anonymous
These are really cool, the ash is neat, and they're lightning weapons that actually scale with faith... but they commit the sin of being twin axes, and so they're cursed with the worst moveset in the game.
- Anonymous
>new paired axes
>no twinaxe moveset
From was too busy making weeb weapons instead of simply importing existing animations from previous titles (also no BKGA)
- Anonymous
So it's worth noting that this is buffed by the Rellana talisman, and obviously rotten sword/millicents. This makes the full attack combo escalate north of 5000+ with 40+ strength and faith.
The highlight of this weapon is THAT it's a twinned weapon, not the lightning damage.
- Anonymous
I see a lot of people malding about the damage, but considering the amount of bs you can stack on this
-millicent prostesis
-winged sword insignia
-shard of alexander
-godskin cloth
-lightning scorpion
-lightning + thorny cracked tear
it kinda makes sense to balance it to be underwhelming without them
also people seem to be scaling the AoW incorrectly. Some people said faith, some people said dex. Do we have a final verdict on the scaling?
brief testing does seem to show iframes on the dash, let me know if I am wrong (or if any of these talismans even proc)
also people seem to be missing the proper value complaning about the axe moveset, who tf is using normals in the late game, are you saving mana for elden ring 2?
if i had a nickel for every axe that deals lightning damage, is dual wielded by the character that uses it, has a unique skill that makes you spin around, and looks really pretty, i would have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot but its weird that it happened twice.
