Warped Axe is an Axe in Elden Ring. The Warped Axe scales primarily with Strength and is a good Weapon for melee users who want to deal considerable damage with each swing. 

  

Oversized double-headed axe with a bizarre, almost melted
appearance.

Brute strength is the only thing required to wield this weapon,
which appears to have taken quite the beating itself.

 

Where to Find Warped Axe in Elden Ring

The Warped Axe weapon can be found at the following location:

  • Has a chance to drop from Omens  wielding this weapon. (4.00% chance)
  • Can drop from the Omen in the Cliffbottom Catacombs.
  • Can drop from the Omens near the "Abandoned Coffin" Site of Grace on the Altus Plateau.
    • An easy way to farm here is to pop a Silver-Pickled Fowl Foot and approach the first axe Omen by advancing Northeast between the coffin carriages. Clear that first mob who tries to jump on you, run back rest, and do it again as many times as you can before the Item Discovery effect wears off.
  • Two Omens wielding this axe can be found near the Underground Roadside Site of Grace in Subterranean Shunning-Grounds.

 

Elden Ring Warped Axe Notes & Tips

  • Weapon Skill: War Cry
  • This weapon can be infused with Ashes of War
  • Warped Axe can be upgraded by using Smithing Stones.
  • This weapon has unique R1 and R2 chains, shared with the Ripple Blade. 
    • Both chains are unique in that they utilize both sides of the double sided axe blade.  This translates to reduced overall time between attacks, particularly on the 2nd and 4th hit of the combo. 
  • Sell Value:  er runes 13 200
  • Base drop rate is 4% (at 100 Discovery)
  • The Strength scaling for this Weapon is abnormally high across all of its infusions. For example, it still retains a D in Strength scaling when Lightning infused.
  • This weapon has status build up values consistent with Great Axes on the Cold, Poison and Blood infusions, which are markedly higher than those of regular axes. As such it is a great choice for builds trying to utilise those status effects.
    • The Ash of War: Wild Strikes, Ash of War: Sword Dance, or Ash of War: Spinning Weapon (Only useable for Cold infusion in this context), are thus  good choices for this weapon for repeated hits and thus status application.
    • Or, one can powerstance this blood infused weapon in the off-hand with a Ripple Axe on an Arcane Build, utilising Poison Grease on the Ripple Axe, which applies its S-Scaling in Arcane to status build up from greases, resulting is massive dual status build up.
  • With Occult infusion, this weapon offers B scaling on Strength and Arcane. While it lacks the status effect buildup, it offers high Attack Rating and decent scaling without any investment on Dexterity, making it suitable for Strength Arcane builds. At 34 Strength and 60 Arcane, it has 661 AR at +25.
  • NOTE: As of Patch 1.08, the speed and distance of some attacks have been increased and the recovery time has been reduced. Also the stagger damage of Axes’ guard counters has been increased. PVP's poise damage has also been reduced with this patch.
  • NOTE: As of Patch 1.09, the scaling values of this weapon were changed. Please refer to the Upgrades Table of this weapon below.
  • Physical damage updated as of Patch 1.08.

      The scaling date just messed up here. A in strength with both bleed and cold on an axe that hits faster than a greatsword while doing just as much damage? Was Miyazaki falling asleep on the keyboard while coding this thing?

        Straightsword speed with greatsword damage. Lacks hyperarmour or range, but you can use Endure on this bad boy and watch bosses melt. Even better if you frostbite them beforehand with a chilling mist on an offhand dagger, or freezing pots. This was my tactic for a recent playthrough and it's been the easiest ER playthrough of my life

          I know that axes suck, but this thing is an exception. It hits so hard, it almost has the same damage as a Greataxe. It actually gets the Status Buildup of a Greataxe, while being way faster. It is way lighter and way faster than majority of the S scaling Strength weapons. It's lighter weight allows you some heavier armor, while not having to dump every level into Endurance and wasting a Talisman slot by equipping the Great Jar's Arsenal.
          Absolute top tier Strength Weapon, 10/10, strong contender for best infusable weapon choice on a strength build

                      Because the second R1 comes out so fast, this has a really nice Charged R2 -> R1 -> Charged R2 chain. What would really be crazy is if this hit the prominent 80 stance damage breakpoint with Cragblade, but it falls just shy unfortunately: (33 + 6.5 + 33) * 1.1 = 79.75

                        By far one of the best, if not THE best, infusible weapons for a strength build.

                        Has ridiculous AR for how fast it attacks, gets fantastic strength scaling on multiple infusions, AND it has the status proc numbers of great axes (while still maintaining its fast r1s).

                        Plus, you look like an insane murder hobo swinging this around. 10/10 would recommend.

                            This things genuinely one of the most confusing weapons in the game when it comes to scaling and stats.

                            Has a greataxe build up rate on statuses (as everyone already knows) but its strongest overall infusion for raw physical damage is Occult for some reason? At max str/dex/arc Occult still beats out quality by a solid 58AR. If Occult infusions could take greases, this thing would be genuinely busted.

                            Throw barbaric roar or warcry on this funky little axe and you’ll have the best raw damage in its weapon class with a varied moveset to boot. And if you wanna go the extra mile, powerstance two of these monsters together to make yourself into a makeshift blender.

                              Not optimal but, if you decide to go for an Int/Faith build, one these with cold and the other with fire is very effective for the damage output. Also, as these technically be a backup to your prince of death spells or your golden order seal incantations you end up with the ultimate jack of all trades.

                              You can also off hand a cold infusing axe and main hand sword of night and flame to be able to AoW spam and have backup cold+combo as off handed it still has thst great light attack chain.

                              Brilliant weapon.

                                As other comments have stated, this weapon has Greataxe-level status buildup on Cold/Poison/Blood infusions.

                                Are there any other weapons with status infusions that swing above their weight like this?

                                  Kinda fun with stamp. Doesn't matter which one, I rarely use the follow up, but if you light attack out of it, you do the second r1 backswing attack, which comes out quick. Works like endure and quickstep had a baby.

                                    Powerstancing these is optimal for fashion. If you have one messed-up weapon, you have a messed-up weapon; if you have two weapons that are messed up in the exact same way, it's a style.

                                      Started my second run of the game recently and trying a strength build. Just got this axe recently and seems like a great weapon though a bit short. As someone already pointed out this axe has a pretty fast R1 chain and status buildup similar to great axe category. Putting freezing mist ash of war seems like a pretty effective combo in my limited experience since you are adding more frostbite on to fast attacks and a weapon with high base status buildup. Proccing frost on the second attack with most enemies which is quickly reset with a fire infused dagger in the offhand and leads to rapid back to back staggers/damage.

                                      Or you could always just do wild strikes or barbaric roar for the great poise. Prayerful strike is another funny option if you want to poise through omens and knock them flat though you have to be right next to them to land the hit

                                        Blood infused Barbaric Roar, 2 hand with the Highland Axe in left for the passive boost, Roar Medallion, Axe Talisman, Lord of Blood's Exultation and Rotten Winged Sword Insignia. Use Roar, then use your charged heavy attacks to get in multiple hits from one attack with a boosted damage from the roar, plus Highland Axe, Axe Talisman and Roar Medallion, and the multi-hits get the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia to go off as well. You've just made a Khorne Beserker. Enjoy!

                                                This thing may look like Charles II of Spain, but it beats harder than an alcoholic father. Don't bother with the status infusions, it will gimp the potential of the weapon. Just infuse to heavy, 2H it and apply lube when you need the bleed or frost, or elemental when you don't.

                                                      I know this is the best axe for status builds... but at least at mid-levels (level 66) Flaming Strike absolutely slaps on this thing. And there's lots of ways to increase fire damage so your AR can skyrocket.

                                                      With just a +13 Warped Axe and "standard buffs" (Flame Grant me Strength, Fire Scorpion Charm, Flaming Strike) I have 716 AR. Pop Flaming Cracked Tear in your flask for 805 AR.

                                                      Plus the weapon art itself does like 1700 dmg including the follow-up attack.

                                                          This weapon absolutely slaps now. STR/ARC, infuse it blood, hits just as hard as other axes while having abnormally high bleed buildup. With the buffs to axe speed its r1 chain is super fast. I also give it war cry for the cool r2 trades. :)

                                                            Looks very similar to Godrick’s second axe in a ruined state. You could use this at max in off hand to do a Godrick cosplay if you’re willing to give up power stancing.

                                                              So after patch 1.08 you're looking for a new fast weapon with a viable moveset that hits like a truck well look no further! Oh I hear you're an arc/str build well this is one of the best weapons to use blood infused in fact it's so good now thanks to the increased distance on axe attacks that I think it might be meta. Spinning slash and barbaric roar for that tripple hitting poise heavy makes this thing a menace at procing bleed and just out trading and preventing a lot of annoying ashes like flaming strike and others using spinning slash or any other muti-hitting attacks.

                                                                  Use the Barbaric Roar AoW, infuse with Occult, then buff with sleep grease. With a B in strength and a B in arcane, you can get very decent damage and status buildup, with the AoW granting you a 3-hit true combo allowing you to proc sleep easily.

                                                                    I haven’t seen it mentioned yet, but infusing this with blood gives it a higher buildup than other weapons. At 80 Arcane most weapons have about 114 but Warped Axe has 138.

                                                                      This gets 667 AR (all physical) if you have 80 strength and heavy infusion. Two handed give 720 AR.

                                                                        Seems that no matter what build you're using, this axe with the appropriate affinity is always going to be the most powerful axe. On 80 dexterity and base strength, a keen warped axe will outdamage any axe that actually has innately decent dexterity scaling by a wide margin. Very strange balancing.

                                                                          Worth mentioning that it’s base status build ups on their respective infusions is at the level of a great sized weapon or pole arm while retaining an A in Str, this weapon is probably intended for Str/int or Str/arc builds

                                                                                            This weapon has great reach when two-handed, much better than any other axe. The unique moveset is really nice too, as the second R1 comes out quicker than a standard axe's would.

                                                                                            Was struggling to make a 2H greataxe build work, but this fills that role surprisingly well.

                                                                                            It's also just interesting to note that the Strength scaling for this is abnormally high across its infusions. For example, lightning infusions tank Strength scaling and give somewhere around D-B in Dex. This, however, is the only weapon in the game that gets a D in strength when lightning infused... everything else gets E.

                                                                                              Wild how RNG works. Hundreds of kills each to get the beastman cleaver and iron greatsword then this dropped first try when I decided to farm for it. Maybe in the next patch they can fix some of these abysmal drop rates, though it would be a first for a From title

                                                                                                I can't speak for the Omens at Shunning Grounds, but the ones near the Abandoned Coffin site of Grave have an abysmal drop rate, even with Silver Foots.

                                                                                                    Would highly recommend the first grace in shunning ground for farming these. The drop rate seems to be much higher than near the abandoned coffin. Have 60 arcane, silver scarab, and silver mimic max. In around 30 minutes of farming coffin I didn't get a single drop. In around 10 minutes in shunning ground I got 7 to drop. I suppose my luck could have just been on point...but considering how long it took me to get other things like the halo scythes and magma curved swords these really do just feel like they drop more often here.

                                                                                                      Could some people further in the game post their STR stat, Warped axe upgrade level, and attack power? I am super curious what kind of numbers this axe can hit!

                                                                                                        Finished the game and decided to try this axe, it makes NG+ a joke, just use Wild strikes ashes of war, white mask and some atack power talismans. Go blood axe and you will smash everything!

                                                                                                          I've been running this axe since the first week of release, I can confirm that around +20 it began LOSING damage. Using Flame Give me Strength and Flame Strike would buff my damage to just shy of 1000, now at +23 it barely gets over 800. Give me back my strength/faith build!
