Death Knight Fight Strategy
The Best Tips for Death Knight:
- Use the ?? Ash Summons
- Use the ?? Spell
- Equip Boltdrake Talisman Item
Melee Users
The Death Knight relies on powerful lightning attacks with long wind-up time. This is a good opportunity for most melee users to stay within striking distance and land a heavy attack. When fighting this boss, you can opt to use the Boltdrake Talisman to reduce Lightning Damage so when you get hit by his elemental attacks, this will give you a chance to replenish your HP after.
When posing for a heavy attack, make sure that you do it when the boss is mid-animation and you are within striking distance. This boss' poise can be easily broken by hitting them with 2 Heavy Attacks consistently, and you can also press R1 when they fall to their knees to inflict more damage. It is important to note that while the boss' skills are slow, they are powerful when they hit you. However, Heavy Attacks are definitely worth the risk for this fight as they will create a lot of opening for you.
If the Boltdrake Talisman is not enough and you still find yourself struggling, you can also consume Lightningproof Dried Liver to increase your Lightning resistance for this fight further. During combat, remember to make use of the pillars inside the room, as these are sturdy enough to withstand damage from the boss. It can protect you from most projectiles but not from attacks that are coming from the ground like Lightning Rings where the lightning crawls beneath you.

Since I haven't been using any Scadutree Fragments in my playthrough so far this guy took a while, and I must have had like 8 attempts where he just stood still until his HP dropped to about 20%
- Anonymous
Fingerprint Shield + High Crit weapon makes this fight easy. Just hold the shield up and backstab him when given the chance
- Anonymous
Not sure if this is anything, but I noticed that the projectiles from my Dark Moon Greatsword were stunning him out of his attacks somewhat consistently. It puts him into a small stagger animation that cancels some of his moves.
- Anonymous
Dang, this was a fun fight. He deserved a better boss room/arena. Using crucible wings during this fight makes it look really diablo 3-ish, angels and demons. To bad this dude aint a summonable ash!

wish his grab that healed him was an actual spell you could learn and use it to heal you, would be really cool
- Anonymous
For my dex build, I used a Buckled and Misericorde, with Assassin's Crimson Dagger and Blade of Mercy for my main talismans. Every start of his normal combo and the last hit of his combo that used a single axe can be parried. Then when I mistimed a parry and take damage, the riposte at the end of the combo usually heals the damage.
When his about 75% health, he does the grab, where I ready the sidestep of the Misericorde for easier dodging because I can't time the roll properly, though you can run far enough for you not to be grabbed.
After that, rinse and repeat. Just had to be extra vigilant if he preps for a grab.
I tried to stay really close so that he just does his normal combos. When he preps the combo with the lightning, I just run away, then jump immediately after the last shockwave to be able to be close to him again.
For the record, Greatshield Soldier Ashes +10 do a great job keeping aggro, blocking, and interrupting his combos. Gives you time to weave in and out of the fight dealing damage.

i wish they wouldve turned this guy into a proper remembrance boss with a more varied moveset and bigger health bar. definitely the coolest miniboss in the game
- Anonymous
Since they are immune to bleeding and their skeletal appearance, I guess they are one of those who live in death. So is it confirmed that the undead have consciousness?
- Anonymous
Killed him first try awesome fight. His lifesteal attack surprised me though
- Anonymous
Cool boss with a reasonable amount of health and a fun to learn moveset? In my dlc? No way.
- Anonymous
So after finishing this amazing fight my sole lifegoal now is to cosplay the death knight as much as possible in the game.
- Anonymous
Falling-Star Beast Jaw slammed him death. i dont know how i feel about the DLC yet so also used a Mimic just to do it faster. but it would be just as simple (but just more tedious) to use any Colossal Weapon im betting.

if u have problem on this boss just focus on lighting def and equp fingerprint ston + boltdrake talisman+2

I pretty much goomba stomped this guy to death with how many jumping attacks I did to stagger him lol
- Anonymous

Holy combos batman!
This guy will keep you on your toes, while some bosses are a vigor check, this one is an endurance check. He can easily be poisoned, so antspur rapier is a good choice, you can also reliably backstab him, so distracting him with a spirit help
Lastly, watch out for his insane grab attack, as it fully heals him
- Anonymous
What does "Poise can be broken by repeatedly hitting them with heavy attacks" the **** means? Just write his stance health and what happens when he stance breaks.
Also, let me help you players. He 90% has 80 stance healt and he kneels when he gets stance broken. You stab him in the head or chest, or just basically go the yellow light, if there is one.
- Anonymous
Was absolutely not expecting such a cool and insane lookin knight, I was half expecting an NPC boss or a reused watchdog.
- Anonymous
I have no idea what this guy can do because I stagger him every time I attack with heavy weapon.

Does Prince of Death’s Pustule make them not attack you?
Had the long axe one glitch out or just stand there when I had it equipped
- Anonymous
A fully charged R2 on the golden halbeard knocks him out of a combo, 3 stuns him for a critical.
Me and my boi Yosh made short work of him when I figured that out
- Anonymous
he dropped 700k+ runes on me in scorpion river catacombs idk why it says 130k only in here
- Anonymous
Stay right in his face, bucklers parry, stab him in the abdomen. Roll left or right to dodge his health steal attack and roll away from his lightning attacks.
- Anonymous
The ice spear ash of war completely trivializes this fight. It's disgusting.
- Anonymous
His fog cape looks so sick when he is about to use his grab attack.
- Anonymous
They didn't have to go so hard when designing this guy. Camping out at the end of one of the best catacombs in the game, fair but tight moveset, badass ghost wings, still protecting Godwyn's 3rd dead body (?). Love this guy.
- Anonymous
he's weak against flame weapon(s?), swear this is the only time the blasphemous blade is useful in this dlc lol. try using these talismans

boltdrake +2

He is not resistant to bleed. He is 100% totally immune to bleed.
- Anonymous
Stand in his face, He will swing with his right hand (your left), Hilariously easy to parry this knocking off huge chunks of his HP.

- Anonymous
1 - Roll three times
2 - Run towards his back
3 - Backstab
4 - Repeat

Fun fight. Just do rolls straight to the left or right when he's doing one of this two charge attacks. He is easy to stance break.

Parry shield + Assasins crimson dagger helped me it was fun!!
- Anonymous
Never tried to backstab, but damn are the hitboxes lovely. Except the lightning all over the floor attack, it's hitboxes are just normal good.
- Anonymous
parry or dodge + backstab is the easiest for melee users. If you're using high poise breaking weapon then can go full bonkers with r2
- Anonymous
Having trouble fighting him?
You can pull out your trusty giant crusher and slam spam him, you can even cancel his charge grab with it if you are quick enough.
- Anonymous
Liked this boss aside from healing move, relatively simple to roll through, no endless poise
- Anonymous
He’s very very weak to parrying. Like to a comical degree. Throw on a boltdrake talisman. He prefers axe hits to his lightning so if you stay in his face you can just literally repeat parry him until he’s dead
- Anonymous
Sit in the back with ancient death's rancor and watch that healthbar drop.
- Anonymous
Forgot to mention that his deadly dash grab will drain your health and restore the boss' HP by a lot
- Anonymous
quickstep with misericorde + dagger talisman and the new %20 boost after a crit, felt like the spy from team fortress 2 trickstabbing
- Anonymous
His healing grab move can be used against Spirit Ashes or at least specifically the Mimic Tear spirit ashes. and yes that includes him fullhealing
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
just keep rolling towards him and to the left or right one of the sides during his quick attacks until you get around to his back for a back stab. Many of his attack patterns put you right behind him to setup a backstab and you can just keep setting these up over and over again.
- Anonymous
I really like this fight. The big heal is a little BS, but it's pretty telegraphed. Other than that, he feels like an old school From boss. Punishing, but predictable with a handful of 2-4 hit combos you can learn.
- Anonymous
Backstab after literally every normal combo, and get your axes for free.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
He also has an insane charge attack where he lifts you up and it heals him to full health..

Use liver to protect from lightning attack, tear to Regen health and opalescent to increase defense. Use savage lion claw then strike him three times to broke his stance and repeat.
- Anonymous
"long wind up time on his lightning attacks" yeah, longs not the word I'd use but keep going. its not like he can chain them back to ba- oh wait he can
- Anonymous
Use heavy weapon and crit chain with Spirit Ogha or any other heavy weapon spirit.
- Anonymous
If you use the golden order greatsword ash of war on him he gets in an animation like he just got parried or something and makes the fight easy, probably more golden order spells might do that
- Anonymous
Parry this guy with Dagger Talisman and Blade of Mercy, peak gameplay
- Anonymous
Parry with Dagger Talisman + Blade of Mercy and make this guy your *****
- Anonymous
The only thing remotely unfun about this fight is his stupid twisted lightning attack that spins twice. Way too much damage for how fast it is.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
really fun boss, loved almost everything about him, the lightning ring attack kept one-shotting me at full health tho
- Anonymous
Mimic+scarlet aeonia spam did the magic dude hadaround 23k hp super fast and a instakill move ob top...
- Anonymous
i used zweihander with sacred order holy essence and it dropped him pretty quick. he might be weak to holy damage
- Anonymous
The lightning spell he uses looks so cool. I wonder if players can get it as well
- Anonymous
Ancient dragon knight kristoff is great. Moonveil katana + backstabs!
- Anonymous
Some people meme that Fromsoft is forgetting that their games aren't DMC, but I stg DMC's enemies aren't as obnoxious or jumpy as this
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
This guy's armor better be available somewhere. If not modders I beg you
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
It's official: Fromsoft have run out of clever names for bosses.
- Anonymous
Coded sword unblockable blade spam, pillar cheese, endure healing. Be aware that a number of his attacks get infinite hyperarmor. Most importantly watch for that life draining attack he can do. Always heal behind a pillar.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
2 square off heavy's brakes his posture, in alternative try to parry, his melee attacks are pretty telegraphed. you got this champ
- Anonymous
Really weak to moonlight weapon art. Im playing on ng+7 so yeah.....
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
really easy to just walk around some of this guy's axe combos and go for a backstab, it's really fun tbh. Thanks goes purely to a "try critical hit" message I saw in front of his door lol
- Anonymous
Sorry bruh you suck out my HP with grab attack, I gotta take it back with crimson dagger. A tit for tat
- Anonymous
1.HE CAN BE BACKSTABBED
2. HE CAN BE STAGGERED OUT OF HIS GRAB CHARGE UP
if you equip the crimson assassin dagger talisman, you can give him a taste of his own medicine !
- Anonymous
Cool as f*ck. PITA. Break his stance (piercing fang was useful), and dodge the death grab
- Anonymous
His moveset is mostly fair but I'm starting to get tired of how every Elden Ring boss seems to have a "turn into a damage tornado and dash at you faster than you can run" attack
- Anonymous
I made him bleed with the Bloody Hélice on an arcane build…he still killed me, but he bleeds
- Anonymous
Bro godwyn is straight terrifying at this point. His deathroot is so pervasive thats it deadass somehow spread to another ****ing dimension some how.
- Anonymous
Black Knife Tiche is really useful if you're using summons.
- Anonymous
They stagger easy and you can backstab them while they are dancing around. Rot and poison also work.
- Anonymous
High poise weapons destroy this guy. I used the beastclaw hammer +8 and dogwalked him
