Promised Consort Radahn a fully armored humanoid enemy wearing red and gold and wielding two big swords. This boss employs both Mohg's blood-flame and gravity, seamlessly switching between the two elements during combat. To succeed, you'll need to time your attacks and  switch between offense and defense to avoid his counters.

At the outset of the battle, Radahn usually leaps towards you with a double-edged cyclone attack. Your immediate action is to evade this by rolling to the left or right. The challenge of fighting Radahn isharder due to his quick recovery time; he can launch another attacks almost instantly after completing a heavy attack. Therefore, patience and timing are key. The optimal moment to strike is during his sword combos, as he takes a brief pause to recover. If you manage to maneuver behind Radahn, take the opportunity to land a heavy blow, potentially breaking his poise and creating an opening for further heavy attacks.

Radahn’s repertoire includes potent ranged attacks, where he ascends into the air and hurls  debris toward you. Be vigilant during these moments, as well as when he leaps from a distance to strike with his swords. These aerial assaults require quick rolls to dodge.

As you chip away at his health, it's crucial to remember that this phase of the fight only lasts until Radahn's health is reduced to ~60%. Upon reaching this, a cutscene triggers, introducing his next form: Radahn, Consort of Miquella. This transition marks the second phase of the fight.

Promised Consort Radahn Attacks & Counters

Attack Description Counter
Gravity Cyclone From a distance, Radahn leaps through the air while spinning with his two swords towards you ending in an explosion. This can be countered by rolling just before Radahn gets to your position.
Bloodflame Slash In close range, Radahn swings his sword towards you. The line created from the slash engulfs in bloodflames in the air and explodes. The bloodflame causes haemorrhaging.

if you need to make distance from the boss Roll back thrice after Radahn slashes at you to avoid the explosion as well.

if you need to stay close to the boss roll left for the stab then in towards him for the slash. this allows you to get out of range of the explosions while being able to dodge his follow up attacks

Starcaller Cry Radahn pulls you towards him with gravity which causes you to stagger. He then slams the ground and uses gravity to force rock spikes upwards. When you see Radahn crossing his hands, immediately roll back twice to get out of the damage zone.
Triple Sword Swing In mid to close range, Radahn chases you with his two swords and swings at you thrice. Rolling to either left or right thrice can get you to avoid these swings.
4-Swing Combo Radahn will open with a left-to-right swing, then do two fast right and left swings. He then finishes with an overhead smash which causes rocks to fly up in front of him shortly afterwards. Dodge the first swing, then double-roll the next two swings, roll the overhead, wait about 0.5 seconds and then roll again to dodge the rock AOE.
Lion's Claw At distance, Radahn will do a front somersault towards you position and smash both of his swords into the ground, similar to Artorias's overhead smash. Roll just before his swords hit the ground. If you try to punish too early, he will immediately do another overhead smash and you will be caught out. Always wait a split second for him to start standing up before attacking him
Rock Sling In close to mid combat, Radahn swings his swords upwards causing rocks to fly into the air. He then leaps into the air and uses his gravity power to sling 8 rocks towards you. Sprint left or right and just before the rocks hit, roll or jump to avoid damage. Jumping is far more consistent than rolling for this attack.

For those having issues with this boss. Try using fingerprint shield and a blood infused antspur rapier.

This combination allowed me to tank all his hits while hiding behind the shield and poke him to trigger both blood loss and scarlet rot.
You can also wear Vaare's white mask, Lord of Blood Exultation, Kindred of Rot Exultation, Two-Headed Turtle Talisman, and Dragoncrest Greatshield talismans.

      • Anonymous

For all the strugglers out there that at this point just want to cheese the win:
        1. Fingerprint Shield + Barricade Shield
        2. Great Spear poke
        3. Greatshield Talisman
        4. Pearl Shield Talisman
        5. Two Headed Turtle Talisman
        6. Great Jar Talisman
        7. High resist armour
        8. Holyproof Liver after 2nd phase transition
        9. I had 50 END, 99 STR, 60VIG
Leads to holding block button and constantly poking with occasional look at the stamina bar, rolling a few grabs or negating their effect with Miquella's Rune, running to the other side of the arena during the meteor attack and thus having the easiest boss fight of the DLC.

        • Anonymous

My biggest issue with this DLC and this boss is also a major culprit is the lack of visual clarity. Between all the explosions and effects and then having Miquella's hair covering most of Radahn, sometimes you can't actually see what move the boss is doing. And adding insult to the injury with poor frame rate during certain sequences worsens the situation quite a bit. I like challenging bosses but you gotta have some fairness.

He has far, FAR too much HP. For comparison (and I know the scaling is different between games, but):

            Kalameet: 5,400 HP

            Manus: 6,000 HP

            Base Radahn: 9,000 HP

            Sinh: 10,000 HP

            Midir: 15,000 HP

            Gael: 15,000 HP

Ariandel and Friede: 17,000 HP (combined)

            Ancient Dragon: 19,000 HP

            Elden Beast: 22,000 HP

            Placidusax: 26,000 HP

            Malenia: 33,000 HP

            Messmer: 38,000 HP
            (Works because of Hornsent)

            Bayle: 41,000 HP
            (Works because of Igon)

            This Guy: 46,000 HP
(Doesn't work because the summons are outside)

I hope that Fromsoft fixes this in the future, as currently it feels unnecessary on a boss that kills you in around five hits with 80 Vigor, LVL 20 scadutree and dragoncrest greatshield.

            • Anonymous

I wonder if his name was Godwyn instead of Radahn and he did death sorceries instead of gravity if people would have a more positive reception of him

              • Anonymous

This is so disappointing... So many better characters that didn't have their time to shine could have been in the DLC, but we ended up with this...

he does become pretty resistent to holy damage(figures, the holy boss is resistant to holy) on second phase, ring Discus of light goes from 1300ish to like 900-1000(unsure cause of my buffs uptime)

                  • Anonymous

Absolute dogshyt fight. Literally no time to do anything but shield poke, only good punish window is when he goes to grab you. One of the worst bosses I've ever seen. Sh*tting AoE non-stop off all his attacks, what the hell is one meant to actually do here besides abuse greatshields? Lord's Divine Fortification saw some use here though, gotta admit.

                    • Anonymous

Bleeding Lizard Greatsword does 140 bleed damage, and it’s heavy attack hits twice, very effective versus this guy

                      • Anonymous

I am really, really trying to give this boss the most patience, and I'm still coming out of it feeling cheated. There are just so many moments where it feels like the boss isn't relying on what I've learned from prior experiences until this point. Instead the boss loves to go 'gotcha!' with so many attacks. A combo that just randomly decides to catch you out with an extra attack; an attack with incredibly strict roll timing; inconsistent recovery time after combos, sometimes no recovery time; two gravity based attacks that are completely different but both rely on almost the same tell; a gravity attack that you can inconsistently roll out of, but jumping always works, with no such indication that you should jump. And then the second stage isn't doing any better, what with the same issues now beefed up.

It's just such a shame. I went in happy to fight 'the hardest boss From has ever made' because I thought it'd be a hard yet fair experience, but this is just annoying.

reading people saying they are scadutree 20 i was like oh they got 20 shards? That like probably level 8. And then i realized there are 20 levels to the scadutree. I tried fighting him level 10 scadutree. Not a good idea. I like the 1st phase but the 2nd phase melts my fps and i had to learn that his first attack is oneshot if i dont know i need to immediately get away. Then he gets some kind of Malenia 2nd phase phantoms that come but he IS the phantoms and attack multiple times like an anime character. I died then. I will try a little bit more but if i fail ill just go get more fragments. So far the bosses are great but i dont fw with this one

Design for the boss is kinda boring. They could have went way harder with the mohg-radahn fusion concept

                            • Anonymous

Poorly designed, I didn’t even feel an ounce of accomplishment like I did with Midir or Gael. We owe Eurogamer an apology, since yeah - This boss felt like a complete nothing burger of a fight even after killing it. Rest of the dlc was fun, but this really wasn’t made with fun in mind.

                              • Anonymous

A tank build (with an emphasis on Holy Resistance) + bloodhound step and the blue dew talisman helps a lot.
The verdigris discus, golden braid, and a shield with big holy resistance (such as Fingerprint Stone Shield with the Sacred/Holy element), and you can block about 90% of that annoying chip damage.
The bloodhound step is for avoiding the things you can't/shouldn't tank, such as when he throws his gravity rocks at you or more easily readible swings.

Btw, you don't have to summon the NPCs for the fight with you to finish their questlines. I summoned Ansbach but not Thollier, and got both their drops despite Thollier not fighting.

I may sound cringe-worthy (NO I WIll SOUND CRINGEWORTHY) but i accidentally beat him first try.
My build: RL 355, max faith and endurance, 9 int, idk others.
                                  (full blackgoal set)
Dragon communion seal- Maliketh's Blade Blade, Black Flame, Black Flame Ritual, Agheel's flame, ghostflame dragon thingy, Bayle's hand (i forgot the name)
Weapon- Misericorde + Buckler Shield (was parry spamming)
this idiot is hard to parry but later becomes easy when you understand his learnset.

I cheeses this guy with a heavy sword lance and haligtree greatshield. Put on golden braid for holy resist and other talismans of your choice. Honestly, sword lance does so much damage on its own that bleed/scarlet rot weren't necessary. I put rot grease on my weapon, but I don't think it procced once. I also had uplifting aromatic ready for the meteor, but I killed him as he was blasting off so i didn't need it. Can't say I feel proud of the kill, but this boss deserved the cheese.

                                    • Anonymous

What about this ending was supposed to be revolutionary? We knew Miquella's goal 50% of the way through the DLC. We wanted to know more about marika, godskin, and the gloam eyed queen. Instead they revive some side character like it's some big reveal.

                                      • Anonymous

Cheesed him with the Fingerprint Stone Shield and the Antspur Rapier. Apply the Poisonous Mist Ash of War and make it a Bleed weapon, and it’ll apply Bleed, Scarlet Rot, and Poison damage, which does a good job of melting his HP. The Fingerprint Shield blocks all his physical attacks, so just poke away at him when he’s close to you.

                                        (I’m not proud of myself)

His phase 1 is easy enough to no-hit, but phase 2 I gave in after 4 hours and summoned mimic tear to help. Got him in about 20 minutes. To dodge the rock attack run to the right and jump at the last second.

                                          • Anonymous

If you don't mind using the mimic tear, the build I killed him with was bleed infused backhand blades with 60 dex and 40 arc, 60 vig, 32 end, enough faith to cast the rot and frost dragon breaths, heaviest armor I could get + white mask, great jar arsenal, blood lord exultation and the highest holy defense talisman I had.
It wasn't an instant win, but it felt good enough even if I didn't manage to go without summons.
I had level 18 scadutree upgrades and 8 for the spirit ash. Ash of was the sidestep one, it works ok against certain swings, but it's not 100% consistent if it will go the right direction.

For the bonk-inclined Prayerful strike lets you facetank both phases. Miquella once prayed his brother would die a true death, time to do the same to him.

Worst fight in the entire game. It's just spamming attack after attack after attack. Leaves no room for attacking.

And then worst of all, the ai of the npc summons can completely break in the second fase, or one of the summons just completely disappears from the arena but still shows up as being summoned.

Never been so disappointed in a final boss in my life audibly sighed when i walked into the boss room and it was radahn again man big letdown after a pretty steller dlc

This boss can be trivialized by using ironjar aromatic combined with heaviest armor (you don't need to roll), best defense talismans and as much HP as possible. You facetank him to death.

                                                    • Anonymous

Just beat him with double coded sword, it's very strong against him. 80 faith, golden vow and rotten wing insignia melts him like crazy. Had to do it normal way becouse i felt guilty after shield poking him lmao

The second phase is complete garbage, multiple attacks that don't match the dodge timing and like 5 different arena wide AOEs. What where they thinking?

This is boss is the pinnacle of disappointment for a boss from this dlc. Bayle and Midra were dimensions beter...

Besides the enourmoues size of elden ring - in contrast to soulsborne: i dont feel like ever touching it again just because of this boss. Gotta agree with most commons here. The boss is extremely hard just for the sake of being hard. No glory behind it. Also i always imagined peak radahn to be way stronger...

For those who didnt know: The grab attack is a death counter. 2nd grab insta kills you - BUT YOU GET A GESTURE; YAAAAY

the way you need to dodge the double cross (left right double slashes) is actually stupid: you need to dodge the 2 first hits with the same roll to the right or the left which is almost impossible

                                                            • Anonymous

So what Miquella's "age of compassion" is even about? What would've happened lore wise if Tarnished didn't stop him or got their heart stolen like during the fight?

                                                              • Better off not using the quest npc summons (unless you REALLY want to finish their questlines). Ansbach just follows you around half the time, and I'm noticing Thiollier usually summons frozen/bugged and never enters the boss arena. Combine that with the ridiculous damage, insane moveset, and tankiness of this boss...and it's just a horrible final battle experience. Even with +18 scadutree blessing and +10 spirit summon blessing, still EASILY get two shot with 60 vigor and heavy armor.

Seriously, did they test this boss AT ALL with genuine testers???

                                                                • Anonymous

So I beat him and decided to go back through the entire DLC to fight him again.
My first kill was using Fingerprint Shield and I would like to learn this boss a bit better so I can do it without tanking all the moves.
I spent about an hour training my parrying skills on him and it does work. I still have a long way to go.
I switch to my regular build afterwards, which uses two Giant Crushers.
Honestly, I think my regular build isn't really good for this fight. The recovery of two colossal weapons is a bit too long compared to the opening window.
I'm considering trying another weapon to see if I can make this more comfortable. I don't want to switch out of my STR build though so I'm going to need to investigate which faster STR weapon I want to use.
I'm in NG+4 now things are a bit spicy.
Where I'm a bit stumped is that most moves in P2 feel like they will always do chip damage due to the holy follow up. I'm sure there is a way to dodge them, but I'm unsure how. It seems the follow up is always farther than the strike, so maybe by dodging into the boss instead of from.

                                                                  • Anonymous

this is the first dlc boss (not counting of commander gaius, hes objectively worse) that i genuinely did not find fun, 1st phase is fine, radahn just looks weird and walks like he has to take a **** but otherwise is fine, 2nd phase seems like hes from one of those 'prime boss' mods, the sheer amount of visual vomit and the insane aggressiveness makes me genuinely dislike the boss, also he eats my fps for dinner, conqueror of the stars? feels like conqueror of my ****ing cpu at this point

                                                                    tldr; disappointing final dlc boss

                                                                    • Anonymous

Blood affinity Antspur rapier + fingerprint shield + heaviest armor allowed me to kill him in a single attempt, while ignoring almost all mechanics.

                                                                      • Anonymous

Verdigris Greatshield (INSANE guard boost) + poking weapon makes him piss easy. Literally beat him my third try by just poking with bleed antspur rapier (almost beat him my second try, but I forgot to infuse the rapier lol). Don't bring a knife to a gun fight: if you're not doing a challenge run, use what's available to you. Beat the BS boss with BS of your own.

                                                                        • Finally dealt with these two after a good few days trying to, so here's the build that ultimately worked after 2 attempts:

                                                                          R-Hand: Blasphemous Blade

L-Hand: Any Seal & Fingerprint Shield (No Skill)

Talismans: Dragoncrest Greatshield, Shard of Alexander, Golden Braid, Chrimson Seed +1

Physic: Opaline Hardtear & Flameshrouding Cracked Tear

Incantations: Erdtree Heal, Golden Vow, Flame Grant me Strength
For my Mimic, I also had Marikas Blessing and the Raw-Meat Dumpling for percent-based-healing items
Really hope this helps someone with this monstrosity of a boss!

                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                              • Anonymous

It seems that you really want to run dodge the meteors to your left. Running right seemed to get me clipped approximately half way through the "shower" most times, but never when I ran left.

                                                                                • Anonymous

Is there an actual way to fully dodge his left-right-cross combo? First/second hit stagger me so dodging last one is impossible, and dodging both first and second doesn't seem to be an option too, as they come too fast one after another. Not to mention there basically being no tell for the start of this true combo.

Probably the worst thing about this fight atm is that it feels like playing roulette, will he use the combo that just kills me or not.

                                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                                    • Anonymous

The fight isn't even that unfair, sure he's got really long combos and it takes forever, but that's nothing we've seen before, just about all the complaints about this boss were aimed at the lategame bosses in the base game too, but everyone loves the fights now looking back. In a couple months time people's perception of this fight will have changed DRASTICALLY.
Lorewise though it's not too bad, just a bit disappointing which isn't what you want for the final boss of an otherwise fantastic dlc.

                                                                                      • Anonymous

In my opinion the dlc was fun had a lot of fun fights and some of them were straight up annoying such as commander Gaius and the fing flower, but radahn's is straight up ridiculous I spent 5-6 hours fighting this mf its in no way shape or form fair, and I am pretty sure there are attacks that u cant fully dodge (all of this is about phase 2), messmer is a really good fight in my opinion probably the best fight in the dlc, clean moves all the attacks are dodge able u just gotta "get gud", overall had fun (except in radhan's fight I didn't)

                                                                                        • Anonymous

This is the worst boss ever made. I thought bayle would be the worst one after doing him but this is way worse.

                                                                                          • Anonymous

If you are having trouble with this guy, get your hands on all the Scadutree fragments. Then get either the fingerprint stone shield, or verdigris Greatshield at +25. Then invest heavily into Arcane (get it almost at 60), and grab a Bloody Helice and get it to + 10. The results will make him much easier to deal with.

                                                                                            • Anonymous

The lord of the frenzied flame was an infinitely better and more balanced fight and that’s high praise for a boss that uses status. Wish we just got a miqualla fight instead

They are trying to one up themselves so that people go "the hardest boss ever in the latest fromsoft game?!" but no one asked them to do that. Their games like Bloodborne and Sekiro and DS3 all have tiher own unique spins on the genre and yet the DLC turned out to take the worst aspects of Elden Ring and amplify them as much as it possibly could. This boss is an insult to Slave Knight Gael's legacy.

                                                                                                  • Anonymous

If you get gravity sucked, immediately sprint backwards then [backwards] dodge the overhead attack then continue spamming [backwards] dodge while the gravity spikes surface. Jumping instead of dodging can also work.

Phase 1 is an amazing boss fight against a fan favorite character with several mixups, attack windows, and every move (maybe except the fast slash) having a consistent, reliable way to counter, with good visuals, music, and readable moves. Phase 2 decided that you might not want to see the boss at all, with every attack flashbanging you, has phantom attacks that quite literally needs you to spamroll (btw the base game AND the dlc has always been consistent in teaching you not to spam rolls), and has a nuke that can only be dodged if you run away preemptively. Did I mention phase 2 deals more damage, not including the pillars, which can also stagger you?

Like I'm not even satisfied that i beat his ass, I'm just glad it's over. Like actually whoever designed the final bosses needs to get fired, because how did we went from soul of cinder, slave knight gael, and isshin, to dogshit bosses like elden beast and miquella?

                                                                                                      • Anonymous

Wow, for the first time in souls games i cheesed a boss. Didn't summon but used greatshield and rapier. Garbage fight

                                                                                                        • Anonymous

If you want to summon the NPCs, just know that you are nearly required to use percentage damage like bleed and rot. The amount of health he gets is absolutely ABSURD. I didn't see how much damage it was doing exactly since I was dealing with this boss, but each tick of weapon rot did about 400 damage, which means he's gets something near 100k hp if I'm doing the calculations right. And that's only on NG, I can't begin to fathom how absurd his health gets in NG+ with the summons.

But at least he's weak to rot, put those Hefty Rot Pots to use

                                                                                                          • Anonymous

Guys for the double slice roll the stomp through the upward slash to left go to his right leg and roll twice in row to left behind him (you have to be really fast and i’ve only tried on light roll) and for the final attack roll behind him and hit. Be carefull not to get caught with the ground aoe thingy as it goes little behind his back also.

                                                                                                            • Anonymous

Thank you to the people saying “just get more blessings” I didn’t think of that. In fact, because I went from blessing level 18 to 19 I realized this boss is actually really well designed and that waiting for 6 hit combo to end only to poke him for a 1/45th of his health is fun. Actually tho this felt like a chore for a character I already killed. I like the first phase but the light show in the second phase was not enjoyable. I’m not saying boss too hard. I still beat him but this feels like a dip in design compared to bosses like Godfrey, Gael, Dancer, Isshin, Lugwig, and even other DLC bosses like Midra.

                                                                                                              • Anonymous

"Rock Spikes" is both parts of Starcaller Cry, and "Overhead Smash" is clearly Lion's Claw (including the second attack, which is present as an ash of war named Savage Lion's Claw)

The Lion referenced in Elden Ring is Radahn.

                                                                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                                                                  • Anonymous

No, but had to be done

I may have jumped the gun on this dlc.

Anyways I beat it and came here to give support/advice for those brothers still struggling like I was.

You need to learn the combo where he smashes the ground or swings left to right in a specfic motion where he smashes the ground in a straight line, this is where hes open AF, theres a few risky moments inbetween each combo but this 1 is the easiest. if you can time your dodge right u can just roll behind him on most attks for free dmg, NEVER heavy attk we cant to spam the R1 light attacks to pro BLOOD LOSS this is game changing.

youll quickly learn to beat phase 1 and enter phase 2

                                                                                                                        Phase 2/

80/20 percent chance hell do an animation rising up for an AOE or just atk u then AOE. its rng
most of the time hes gonna rise up and AOE when he does this, this is the time to summon mimic and heal urself then immiediately hold block, if u made the build correctly itll only take away stamina 0 health.
youre gonna wanna look for similar combo openings like phase 1 and dodge either right side or into him to avoid the light, the hardest part of this figth is gambling on rng to decide when to swing during which light animation. if u get lucky hell try to grab u or jump atk u where u can easily roll dodge away behind him ONLY HIT HIM 1-2 TIMES EACH OPENING.
eventually youll proc blood loss and hopefully mimic pulls aggro and doesnt die early.

when he gets really low health hell dissapear YOU NEED TO USE OPALINE BUBBLE TEAR AND DMG NEGATIOIN TEAR RIGHT NOW AND RUN TO THE FRONT OF THE ARENA rng on timing i know its okay. if u get lucky youll take little dmg and just heal as hes landing.
be patient, breathe, swing only 1-2 times and proc blood loss, you'll win tarnished.

Goodluck to anyone this may help, God bless your dark soul.

                                                                                                                        • Anonymous

Just beat him with a good bit of elbow grease. Heres some things I learned grin. Dont feel bad if you feel like you cant get a hit on him, a lot of the fight really is just RNG and whether he decides to use moves that let you actually punish.

                                                                                                                          - His move where he crosses his arms and does a double slash is one of his best moves. Dodge or block the first two like normal but for the cross arm swipe, dodge into him and you can get a quick hit off.

                                                                                                                          - The front flip slam is also one of your best opportunities to attack, if he ever decides to do it. Block or dodge then follow up and you're golden.

                                                                                                                          - For the ring of meteors I can confirm like an earlier post had said; lock on to him, run directly right or left and then right before the first meteor hits you, jump and then roll on landing.

                                                                                                                          - His 30% health meteor thing targets the area that he took off from. Some people are saying its center of arena or targets a player but it just touches down from where he jumps so when he starts doing that start bookin it to the other end of the arena and if you dont run into a wall or anything like that then you dont even have to roll or block anything.

Didn't like any of the lore for this expansion, and this might take the cake as the worst bit. That being said, first phase isn't too bad to parry. Haven't managed to live long enough into second phase to see how hard parrying is there. The amount of visual clutter from the Holy after effects might make it difficult though
