Devourer's Scepter is a Great Hammer (Warhammer) in Elden Ring. The Devourer's Scepter scales primarily with Strength, Dexterity and Faith. It is a good Weapon for high strength players who can hold this weapon's weight. The weight is worth the ability to crush enemy armor, sometimes along with the enemy itself.
Scepter in the shape of a serpent devouring the world. This
weapon will one day become the very symbol of the Lord of
Blasphemy.
One of the legendary armaments.
A vision of the future briefly seen by Rykard in his final moments
before being devoured by the great serpent.

Try 50 str 40 dex and 27 faith. The weapon busts out crazy damage and you can maintain 60 vigor and healthy mind and endurance as well for a 150 build
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
i feel like the 25 fth requirment was to push players into using Golden Vow along with this, bc without it youll do no damage and die fast
- Anonymous
What if you wanted to use a cool quality weapon
but god said
25 fth
- Anonymous
this thing feels like it has triple E scaling. the damage returns is so awful to matter what you do
- Anonymous
mfw 25 point requirement in the worst scaling of the 3 stats
- Anonymous
its lame how takers flames gets hyperarmor but this doesn't
- Anonymous
777 AR at 54 str, 20 dex and 25 fth.
CCC scaling. 777 has some religious significance in real life which is funny if you consider the whole serpent and devouring motiffs.
- Anonymous
I recently started using this one cause I liked how it looks. Honestly, it feels like such a nice weapon, with the 1.09 greathammer speed buff and its great range it's just all out good. I don't even mind the needless 20 dexterity requirement and it's overall less damage than say, the cranial candlestand or the greatstars with a flame art ash, cause the range makes up for it pretty well. The only thing I don't really like is sadly, it's ash. It's a neat idea, but the damage just doesn't make it worth for such a lenghty animation in PvP. Still love it though.
- Anonymous
I just don’t get it. Necromancy hammer scaling off faith instead of int? Fine. 20 dex requirement for a str/fth/int build…? Not Fine. I only see this working and fitting in theme on a str/fth build running godslayer incantations but… the 20 dex is still brutal. Blasphemous blade is way better, has hyper armor on L2 and synergizes even better with hex sorceries. Death rancor calls into blasphemous blade L2 free aims get so much salt in arena.

this thing pretty much gets outclassed by the Candlestand with Taker's Cameo or Godskin Swaddling Cloth
- Anonymous
I just love how I can't use any legendary weapons because I'm a strength chad.
- Anonymous
Why do all remembrance/legendary/unique weapons require triple stat investment? It's insanely annoying and makes basically all of them useless in PVP. Further, the AOW's are never good in PVP so you're hit with the fact that you're wasting stats + an AOW that isn't worth it. To top it all off, they all have horrible base damage.
- Anonymous
I get the impression that MAYBE the weapons related to Rykard shouldn't require faith stats, since Rykard's whole phylosophy is the rule of the strongest. Tanith doesn't even get mad when you defeat Rykard. "The strong take"
- Anonymous
This may have been asking too much of Elden Ring weapons, but I think this deserved at the very least unique heavy attacks. For anyone who played Bloodborne, perhaps it could’ve been like the Amygdalan Arm. On heavy attacks, the snake could’ve uncoiled and added an additional bite attack, similar to the coil shield.
Just especially for all the LEGENDARY armaments, only 2 have unique abilities outside of their AOW. The Dark Moon Greatsword has a unique heavy attack, and the Ruins Greatsword has gravity-fan rocks on its heavy. This especially deserved a better moveset, considering the great hammer moveset is already very basic.
- Anonymous
weapon skill should deal immense poise damage to stop enemies from immediately smacking you
- Anonymous
Best-looking weapon in the game but the AoW damage is real low.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Vagabond, using 62 points between STR/DEX/FTH. All twohanded, 76 STR gets 769 AP on a heavy Great Mace. 38/35/25 gets 768 on Devourers. 40/40/18 gets gets 751 on Beastclaw. Imo, comes down to ash of war/damage split preference. You can get more versatility with a box of greatmaces with different ashes, but AOE lifesteal is just neat.
- Anonymous
from pls... no more triple split scaling weapons with crap base damage
- Anonymous
The skill restores 15% max hp per enemy hit, regardless of damage dealt.
Very good on Mimic Tear, due to its very high hp it becomes pretty much unkillable.
- Anonymous
This weapon essentially uses Lifesteal AoE but requires faith instead of Arc? Can we get some consistency?
- Anonymous
The ash of war is actually incredible in the colosseum. The large aoe tends to catch multiple spirit ashes or players to almost fully restore your hp.
- Anonymous
damage and skill is pretty crap, but it has a surprising amount of range that can catch people off guard
- Anonymous
Should be a constant aoe for 2 seconds, it takes ages to even use the damn thing so not punishing it or being caught in its radius should give you value
- Anonymous
Gravitas, but with cool red faith fire stuff, but bad. And it heals you a bit.
- Anonymous
The Weapon Skill is so slow that if you use it immediately after knocking someone down, they have time to get up and punish you for even thinking that you had a chance to use it. And it's so weak that if you actually do hit them with it, it scarcely even tickles.
- Anonymous
There has to be a typo or something with the motion values on the weapon art, for such a slow, telegraphed move the damage is absolutely pathetic and the health drain isn't that spectacular either.
- Anonymous
This weapon is theoretically so cool but the stats and Weapon Skill are just not good enough.
- Anonymous
Should have some hyper armor or give it a two hits on its hit box like radahns greatswords aow takers flame on the blasphemous blade really is just a better version

Heyo! I’m currently trying to get all the legendary armaments but have beaten the elden beast, I didn’t get invaded by Berhnal at Farum Azula, nor did I kill him before, I only even got ashes from him and found him at volcano manor much later. I am not able to get him to trigger here now tho it would seem which kind of stinks as the bolt of grandsax had plenty of warnings about being perma missable, but not this one as much so. Maybe you could add a little note somewhere? I don’t believe I followed the farum azula guide on here either yet but I’ll go check it out because it might’ve been a recommended stop there that I missed over. Can’t believe this is gonna be the one legendary armament I’ll miss tho and it’s so far into a new game too lmaoo

Strict downgrade from the Cranial Vessel Candlestand despite being a legendary weapon, AND with worse stat requirements. What a shame.
- Anonymous
This is more of a quality weapon than str faith with that scaling lol
- Anonymous
"Ideal for Strength/Faith builds"
- requires 20 DEX
Ngl, the DEX requirement puts it off for me.
- Anonymous
wish the skill on this weapon followed through with casting even if you get smacked mid-animation, similar to that axe/spell where you summon 3 skeletons to attack for you lol. would be much more tempting to use
- Anonymous
Another shitty weapon with horrible stat requirements and scaling.
- Anonymous
Really wish this had better scaling (B/B/B or B/B/C) and/or a little higher base damage - I think the Weapon Art being situational is fine (could use hyper armor though). As is, the damage and scaling are lackluster compared to other Great Hammers (notably the CVC, which is also Strike/Fire), which is a shame as this is a LEGENDARY weapon. To avoid breaking the game early (as is you can get this by killing Bernahl at the shack), just make it only droppable by Bernahl as an invader.
- Anonymous
I got killed right after I killed Bernahl. I’m not sure if I got the sceptre or not but regardless he’s dead. Any ideas on where to go to get the drop or do I require a new Playthrough?
- Anonymous
An interesting weapon.
Can hit pretty hard. With 99 in Str + Dex + Fth it has AR of 983 1h and 1015 2h.
WA with these stats basic pleb Soldiers near Gatefront grace for 472. It does however, deal Fire damage so you can boost that up with Shard of Alexander and Flame Scorpion to hit for 608.
If you want max damage, with 99 in all 3 stats, Flame, Grant Me Strength, Golden Vow, Shard of Alexander, Flame Scorpion and Flame Tear the WA was hitting those pleb soldiers for 1k damage.
Really, the main issue with the WA is how easily it's interrupted. Unless you're full potato you'll be stopped by a sneeze. The only thing going for it is the duck towards the end of the animation can dodge horizontal attacks. Otherwise it's a decent tool for controlling an area and getting some health back (Especially against packs of Rats and Dogs as fire damage is especially strong against them... Just packs of those are also the most likely thing to spam you with 10 billion attacks per second to interrupt the cast)

Elden Ring is heavily based on ancient alchemy. This weapon resembles the Caduceus, the staff wreathed by snakes that was a signature item of the Greek god Hermes. Hermes was the patron god of alchemy; alchemy's pursuit of the panacea, the legendary medicine that could cure any disease, is why the Caduceus is often depicted in hospitals. The grim irony of this weapon is that Rykard's vision of a "cure" for the world was to feed it to the serpent.
- Anonymous
The game tells you to use golden vow and put your stats elsewhere with this one.

Kind of weird that Bernahl drops this instead of his Zwei when he's fought at the Shack.
- Anonymous
Just started a new character (hero) and killed bernahl for this at storm shack, Now for Pve the weapon art does not do alot do damage, but buffed with Flame grant me strength and flask you can do decent damage and it also staggers any non large enemy. The hammer is great at breaking stance, can't wait to run through Ng+ to get two of these. Also the range of this weapon is great. The skill is very satisfying if used in a large group.
- Anonymous
this weapon is really fun to use, my recommendation is to have some decent poise, and not rely on the weapon art for damage, but more or less have it as an AOE finisher in duels, combining it with other means of creating spacing. people say the damage is underwhelming, but it comes out pretty quickly, and does good poise damage, did i mention it's strike damage? yeah it isn't mohg's spear, but bonus, it isn't mohg's spear, so people don't run away from you as soon as you pull it out. sometimes a less popular weapon is just what you need to get an edge in a duel. i think this is a pretty fun weapon, if you're considering giving it a try, did i mention it looks really cool?
- Anonymous
ive got 80 in all three stats it scales with and its at +9 and the skill does a grand total of 370 damage to the generic godrick soldier in front of stornveil, really needs a buff on the skill
- Anonymous
My brother in Marika, how do you need 20 dex just to swing around a great hammer like a wild animal
- Anonymous
Disappointed this doesn't heal on kill like the blasphemous blade or serpent god's sword. Missed opportunity, makes it less appealing imo though it's still a powerhouse when you spec properly.
- Anonymous
You can get this at the start of the game by killing the npc in the warmasters shack east of the stormhill shack
- Anonymous
In game this is considered a colossal weapon not a greathammer. I'm new to souls games so I'm not sure if that is a significant difference in terms of movesets, but I just thought I would mention it.

Highly underrated. One of the longest Warhammers in the game and great for pyro builds, especially since the 1-handed moveset is fantastic for rollcatching. The Ash of War isn't great but is capable of catching people off guard if they get too close. I encourage any Strength/Faith builds to give it a chance!

Seems week sadly. At +9 with my stats str. 27 dex 20 abs faith 85 (had a great run active) AR 1h 643. 2h 677. Not that great compared to my sacred great stars +24 at 743 2h.
Ash of water comes out far too slow, seemly zero hyper armor so I get knocked out pretty easily.
Unfortunately it’s just not worth using at this moment. Only upside it seems to have more poise damage then the great stars.

It got buffed with the recent patch, both damage AND its weapon art. NAAAOW WE CA' DEVOUR THE GODS...TOGETHAAAAAA.

Has anyone tested this after the buff? Is it worth using now?

- Anonymous
I'm so happy this got buffed. I kept trying to use it but it kept getting outclassed
- Anonymous
The heal is great statistically, but the weapon art is just to slow to reliably use it.
And when I say slow I mean you could probably open your menu mid combat, do the glintstone crown glitch and get to full health more easily than attempting to get this off without being hit out of the animation. That said, perhaps poisebois could make good use of it as alt weapon, as they would be more able to withstand the punishment while using it.
- Anonymous
For some reason Bernahl went home during his invasion, and I was worried that I wouldn't get the weapon; but I came back later and he invaded again, so it's all good.
- Anonymous
This might be a good AOE option for dealing with AFK farmers if you don't have Mohgwyn's spear. I haven't been able to confirm yet whether or not the weapon art has enough vertical range to work for the First Step cliff, will continue testing. Horizontal range is great, devours farmers nicely.
- Anonymous
the two things nice about the weapon art: the heal is actually quite big and the aoe is pretty large. that said, you get no hyperarmor whatsoever, and it's slow asf. the damage is less than a normal light attack.
Stat requirement are high than the Blasphemous blade and it has a worse WA and is slower. Why would someone use this? No cap is there a use?

- Anonymous
really hope they hard buff the weapon art for this thing. its so terrible :(
- Anonymous
At 40 STR / DEX / FAI this weapon is terrible, however…
Against Malenia I tried +10 versions of Godslayers Greatsword, Grafted Greatsword, Malikeths BB, with no luck.
This Snake Hammer Abomination outperformed all of them even at +9. It doesn’t do the most damage but it somehow manages to stagger Malenia consistently in 3-5 hits. Use the jump attack talisman and spam jump attacks with this thing, charge your R2 after the staggered critical hit for more free damage.
This weapon is the only weapon I’ve beaten Malenia with, no cheese or summons I recommend giving it a shot. Throw a dagger into an open slot with bloodhounds step to switch to in order to avoid her spam flurry attack, welcome trades with this Devourers Sceptor since there’s a good chance of you can poise through Malenias hit you will stagger her, and the fight becomes doable.
- Anonymous
just killed him without speaking to him on a new file and he dropped the devourer's scepter?
- Anonymous
Weapon category says warhammer but in your inventory it is a great hammer
He invaded me, I killed him, got his armor, and no weapon. What?
- Anonymous
Yep, can confirm he does still invade if you killed Maliketh and even beat the Elden Beast. You just need to fully complete the Volcano Manor questline, kill Rykard, then talk to him in the Manor. He will tell you that you will fall to his blade, so go to Farum and walk towards the chest.
- Anonymous
Good news, since patch 1.03, he seems to invade regardless if the area boss is dead now.
- Anonymous
So I'm in two minds with this weapon, on the one hand, splti damage is good for the most part but the weapon art damage isn't the hardest hitting; HOWEVER! they can't buff it because in PvP situations where there is 2-3 targets around you, the weapon art despite its lack of damage really shines and you'd be almost unkillable outside of being staggered.
- Anonymous
I can confirm that if you run away from him when he invades, he will re-invade if you reload the area.
- Anonymous
It's the Great Hammer weapon Class. There is no Warhammer weapon class.
- Anonymous
he invaded today just now for me 19th march even though i have killed both plexiglass and maliketh already.
- Anonymous
não encontro mais bernahl na cabana dele!!! e agora como faço pra pegar a arma do cetro do devorador?? alguem pode me ajudar? valeu
- Anonymous
I’ve done it killing boss’s and not killing boss’s still doesn’t invade. I’ve cleared the area 3 times no luck.
- Anonymous
They fixed it with the patch so he will invade you again even if you've killed Maliketh or Rykard.
I have beat the game and he's not spawning anywhere!? Can anyone help?
- Anonymous
this weapon sucks. the weapon art is useless in 99% of the game and the scaling is trash.
- Anonymous
I may be hated for saying this but I think the dex scaling for this weapon is too high for what it does. I think it should be lowered between the 13-16ish range.
For every mage
if you have problem with him just use Invisibility type spell
- Anonymous
Is it possible to do all the volcano manor quests and still have him invade me at Farum Azula? (provided I just choose not to kill rykard till later)
- Anonymous
You can get this weapon along with his set and bell (not sure about the claw as i didn't get it) from killing him in the Warmaster's shack in Limgrave, so if you REALLY want to get this weapon, kill him there while he's weak.
but it's also understandable if you want to kill him in Farum at his highest level, though even as a sorcerer, it was NOT a fun fight......
Does he drops this if you kill him early in the game (Warmaster Shack)?
- Anonymous
As other said, don't do volcano mnnor if you're planing to go 100% achievement in one run since this thing is needed to do that. It's deceptive, cause the volcano manor feels like you should do it pretty early yet punishes you by breaking a quest line and missing some gear if you complete the manor before the other stuff to the east and north east.
- Anonymous
This legendary weapon is missable if u kill maliketh or rykard before advancing his quest he wont invade
- Anonymous
I killed Rykard. Bernahl does not show up at the Volcano Manor anymore, nor does he invade me in Farum Azula. Reloaded the game a few times and went to area on the lower end of the walkway of the Beside the Great Bridge site of grace just to be sure, nothing.
Solution is to just don't kill Rykard I guess, or NG+.
- Anonymous
Could anyone drop it for me ? I ****ed up on his questline... PSN : Silverband
This would have been baller as a c/c pure quality weapon, but with fire damage that scaled from strength. It's a shame that there's plenty of somber lightning weapons but no somber "strength-based-fire" weapons
