Falx is a Curved Sword in Elden Ring. It is found in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. The Falx scales with Strength and Dexterity. This comes with the Revenger's Blade skill which lets you dash up to an enemy and slash them open with the blades held in each hand and has tremendous bleed build-up.
Curved swords with long, sickle-like blades. A pair of weapons made to be wielded in both hands. Forged by a hornsent in the name of revenge. "In vengeance for the flames, my blade I wield..."
Where to Find Falx in Elden Ring
The Falx is dropped by Hornsent wherever he's killed, which can be:
- If you summoned him to fight Messmer the Impaler, he will drop the Falx after invading you near the Church of the Bud site of grace [Map Link]
- If you choose to assist Leda and invade Hornsent in Shadow Keep, he will drop the Falx once defeated [Video Link]
- Otherwise, you can find the Falx on his corpse after fighting him as part of the Leda and Allies Boss fight.

Inner curved blade...
Would it hurt more than a normal curved blade?

This weapon is so good against Malenia — the first half of the AoW is great for chasing her down to keep the pressure on her, and the follow-up can actually stunlock her (unless she decides to hyper armor out of it). I’m awful at fighting Malenia and it only took me two tries to beat her with Falx.

Judging by the weapon skill, the Hornsent has ALOT of pent up anger

this thing shreds. at first I thought it was underwhelming. but the higher ng cycle I am the more I rely on it for its pure damage output. good luck with your bleed frost katana builds in ng+3 or above. good luck with doing any damage on radagon or elden beast who are immune to statuses. but combine rotten winged sword, spiked crystal tear and prosthesis with the falx and you'll absolutely demolish them. this has become one of my favourite weapons and one I rely on all bosses that still give me trouble.
- Anonymous
This says it requires 13 strength on the Curved Swords page, but when you come to this page it says 12 strength
- Anonymous
I think this weapon is too weak for what it should be.
I mean, have ever saw how gruesome and grotesque it is to hit people with a blade curved INSIDE?
This thing would even rip some muscles if it hit.
So I think this weapon should have at least S DEX to make the damage go skyrocketing, and making the bleed to be at least 70, and when akimboing the weapon, it should be 100, so it's not OP, but making that blade to be feared
- Anonymous
People who say these should be backhand blades don’t realize that the real-life equivalent was a curved sword.
- Anonymous
small detail, but I love that there is an eagle on the pommel.
- Anonymous
the fact that the dual wield moveset doesn't even have backhand blade running r2 is proof this dlc took 0 risks
- Anonymous
Seems that exceeding the 60 Dex softcap increasingly leads to Str investments returning more AR -
12 STR / 80 DEX -> 495 AR
37 STR / 55 DEX -> 501 AR
Miniscule difference but the minmax voices in my head keep irritating me when I use this weapon on RL155 80 Dex. Favourite weapon in Elden Ring by far though

I want this things AoW on a dual Mantis Blade with extendo arms so bad.
- Anonymous
Imagine it you could buff this with Blood Grease like you could the Warden Twinblades with Carthus Rouge in Dark Souls 3.

Hands down the nastiest weapon in the game. Optimize with consecutive attack talismans and it wrecks everything PVE. PVP I run the Zweihander as secondary in case my opponents have any skill and need some ranged precision. Winning 9 out 10 duels any day of the week and an inbox full of hate mail. There is no equal in terms of pure damage output and flexibility to overcome virtually all play styles.
- Anonymous
For how cool its ash of war is, I think this weapon deserved a unique moveset. The other curved swords added in the dlc are all useless anyway, I wish they would just cut those weapons out to polish this one.
Its not like a paired weapon with a unique moveset doesnt exist already, just look at the ornamental straight swords

+9 is single L2 and followup spaz slices killing opponents in PVP lvl 175. Nasty.

Offhand to my zwei just fits perfectly. Enemies trying to heal or run away or just keep distance for casting get obliterated on every rush. Perfectly balanced attack speed for the occasional good player who has faster weapons. 10/10

The fact that you can't put bloodflame blade on this is the biggest let-down of my entire career.

probably gonna do yet another ng+ run in the future to use this, i just wish they stopped being lazy and gave it an r2 that doesn't suck
- Anonymous
Dual wield is cool but I wish we could have a 2-handed falx.

Malenia destruction device. No lie 99 dex on ng+7 I dropped her both phases in less than a minute. Used 1 healing potion just to heal what my mimic cost. You and the mimic spamming the AOW with both multi hit talismans, lords blood talisman, Dragoncrest greatshield talisman.

Is it possible to guard with this alone (Deflecting Hardtear), and not use a shield to do so? (Making a lore-accurate bloodhound build*)
- Anonymous
there is an eagle on the pommels, I just love that extra detail. Beautiful weapon overall too
- Anonymous
I would trade some damage for at least minimal arcane scaling
- Anonymous
If you are strugling against the AoW in PVP. I would suggest try to punish it via a jumping attack.
- Anonymous
Not gonna lie, this thing is really good, both by appearence and on usage/damage wise.
It's quite long, so you can catch enemies who move a lot.
It's damage is really good for a Slash weapon, and since you pull another one when two-handling, the damage goes sky rocketing, and the Bleed helps a lot too.
For a Curved Sword, it seems that this weapon can break poise easier. Probably because of the two-handling system to bring another weapon while still applying the two-handling poise break value (not sure, needs testing).
And finally, the skill of this weapon. It helps you to enter the attack animation beyound the enemies to detect you if you're behind them, or to simply start to rush on them before they enter in their attack animation. This thing works just like the Iron cleaver's charged strong attack.
All in all, this weapon is really good, and very much worthy a try.
Also, it's scaling is DB (Dragon Ball).
Maybe this is the reason for why this weapon is good...

Dammit I wanted to pair this with the poison flower blooms twice but there no way to change what attribute this scales with
- Anonymous
Is it just me or is it kinda odd that a dex weapon has such a savage AOW?
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
How does this weapon not have a unique and fancy r1 and r2 attack? Smh

Cool detail I noticed; this weapon has an eagle head on the pommel of the handles
- Anonymous
I feel like this weapon would have been a really cool contender for another lifesteal weapon in the game. The hornsent is a potentate, and the potentates signature weapons grant life steal, and there ash of war buffs their lifesteal gain. It would have been really cool to see this weapon with that same effect, only this weapon attacks at the speed of light so it would take advantage of the lifesteal perfectly. Not like this weapon needs lifesteal at all, i just thought it would be cool and good worldbuilding.

The aow can be jumped over and pretty easily paried by an opponent who has more than 70 IQ, but its pretty great for trading into stuff / roll catching. So please dont spam the ash of war when in neutral .

I didn't meet him at the multi battle. But he invaded me at scorpion catacombs

"I really wish these were backhand blades" NOOOOOOOOOOO NO PLEASE PVP IS DEAD ENOUGH OOO DARK SOULS III WHY DID YOU GO
I really wish these were backhand blades, I know they're based on a real weapon but the fact that hornsent gives a backhand blade aow and that backhand blades are said to be used by the hornsent just kinda makes it disappointing that they're curved swords, also because there's only one non-circular backhand blade in game it would be nice to have another slash/pierce option for the weapon type instead of just pure slash. oh well its still a cool weapon just a tad disappointing to me
- Anonymous
I've gotta thank elden ring (and by extension the souls series) for introducing me to so many cool weapon, never knew this was a real weapon until now
- Anonymous
I have 8 str and when I double hand damage increase from 100 to 800, but the icon still has red cross as if my str is not enough. Is this a bug or am I missing something?
- Anonymous
Have you seen those Revengers from Bonny? They've got curved swords. Curved. Swords.

This with 55 Dex (splitting faith and Dex, don't have enough to 80 both), RWS, Prosthesis, Shard of Alexander. Good or not?
- Anonymous
Glad ppl haven't caught onto this thing. Hopefully flies under the radar and doesn't get uber nerfed (it prob will once someone gets reverse ganked by it). So good.

These were 100% meant to be Backhand Blades. They’re a traditional Hornsent weapon, and he gives us an AoW for them. Hope they fix this, it just makes no sense
That's the kinda the point of the falx. The were used against the Roman's, and said to be quite effective against shields.
- Anonymous
Combine this (power stance) with another curve like the scavenger which is infused with chilling frost, you can also switch anytime between the two. You got yourself a killer dex tool.

This feels like it should’ve been a Backhand Blade, but still, really good weapon
- Anonymous
if the wiki is accurate, 55 bleed buildup doesn't seem very tremendous compared to 102 for the old fashioned twinblades from the start of the game (which somehow still shreds compared to dlc weapons)
- Anonymous
Tbh this weapon lives and dies by its ash of war - which is undoubtedly very cool and can be extremely useful (my go to win button against those obnoxious fire knights), but the moment you're unable to properly use it (for example DLC final boss), you're better off switching to a custom dual CS build. There are better dedicated options out there for both direct damage (bandit's) and bleed procs (scavenger's).
- Anonymous
This thing is so bad when compared to the other curved swords, most curved swords with blood infusion deal more damage while having higher bleed proc. It's just a pice of metal, why can't we apply greases? This thing only look good because of the scadutree blessing, because the horned curved sword deals more.
- Anonymous
R1 combo is very reminiscent of the sellsword twinblades from DS3. Great bleed build up. Really solid weapon overall
- Anonymous
Please add to notes and tips that it cannot be buffed with bloodflame blade or any other resins otherwise people will keep asking here also feel free to like this comment so it may be catchy thank you
- Anonymous
when you realize that the ash of war followup is the same attack that the random shadow people use flailing their arms at you, but faster and holding a sword

- Anonymous
When you combine falx with offhand blood bandit curved sword with sepukku. At higher levels it becomes best curved sword combination. Because you can still use ash of war with insane bleed procs
- Anonymous
Thabks god this thing doesnt have bleed scaling. It already shreds everything with pure damage and build up bleed quite fast.

Compare its AR to a Scavenger’s CS rather than a Bandit’s, and you’ll see how good this weapon is.
- Anonymous
One of if not my favorite sword irl, goaded to see it finally be in a game. And a game I love no less. Me happy.
- Anonymous
Someone on YouTube described the ash on this weapon better than I ever could: its swift slash if it was made by people who actually played the game. The weapon itself is magnificent. Good AR, great reach by CS standards, and a gap closer that provides surprising amounts of hyper armor in a pinch (obviously don’t crutch on it or you’ll die but still). Best part is you get it by slaughtering that traitorous little weasel Hornsent.
- Anonymous
I don't know if any other weapon has this, but if you charge a heavy attack (but not fully) release and dodge at the same time it has a unique attack, not sure if it is of any use.
- Anonymous
Such a good weapon but I really wish it was standard and could be infused with occult.
- Anonymous
This weapon and its weapon skill destroys Melania. Its basic attack can even hit her when she is winding up WFD and Cancel her out of it if you happen to make her bleed.
- Anonymous
Don't underestimate the D in Str scaling. After about 55-65 Dex, the weapon scales better with Str up until about 40 (at which point it scales better with Dex again).
Basically, just look at the level up screen and level whichever stat gives you the most damage.

- Anonymous
Cool weapon but for some reason I just hate how the point curls inwards towards the blade side. I get it’s meant to be used kinda like bug mandibles ( not exactly but you know what I mean). But it just weirds me out for some reason. Fun weapon though.
- Anonymous
Really good, but feels like a big missed opportunity for unique Backhand Blades that are't ass. Because as it stands those don't exist and now never will.
- Anonymous
This thing smacks severely. The weapon art is mad fun to use and the running attack hits like 4 times. Use Leda's Armor and the talisman she gives you for helping murk Hornsent and shred nerds all day.
- Anonymous
I'm I just blind or does it not say that I can put sepuku in it?
- Anonymous
for the AoW shard of alexander also affects the follow up slashes after the lunge, it was about a 500 damage difference for me in total with shard ; but godfrey icon only affects the damage of the charge up lunge not the followup slashes (tested both on the omen in the shunning grounds)
These are very good. They have hogh base dmg, high bleed and weapon skill is VERY long (I think one of the longest-range melee lunges ever). One neat thing is, that this is much lighter than any other dual curved swords simply bc it is one weapon. Cannot be buffed but to be honest this would be broken with bfb
- Anonymous
One shot Renalla on Ng+ I actually think this weapon is insane!

Most normal dlc weapon. Actually have to dash to chase enemy & doing visible swing, not teleporting across the map while doing rapid slash at the same time.

You also receive the weapon after the big npc bossfight at the end of the dlc
"Judging by the weapon skill, the Hornsent has ALOT of pent up anger.."
Messmer invaded his homeland, had his family slaughtered by soldiers, his entire race was wiped out, and burned said homeland to the ground.
I'd say his rage is validated
