Dane's Footwork is a Hand-to-Hand Art in Elden Ring. It is an armament introduced in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. The Dane's Footwork scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity and is a good Weapon for players that want to experience this new weapon type.

A technique for hand-to-hand combat without the aid of a weapon. This martial art focuses on kicking techniques. This kick-based martial art is unique to Dane, a Dryleaf and sworn ally of Leda. He acquired these skills by training with the aid of a waterfall; letting the water beat his body, and throwing himself into its basin.

If you two-hand this does it get buffed by the two handed talisman? or is it the same as other dual wield type weapons where it doesnt?

      • Anonymous

I was watching some Sekiro the other day and saw the Lone Shadow enemies. Remembered how much I liked their way of fighting so I decided to make a build. Using this in the left hand and a Uchigatana in the right with a Wakizashi with poison mist AoW as a second left hand weapon because of Vilehand. I also use the Cross Naginata with Piercing Fang AoW just because I wanted to try the weapon for a long time. For fashion I use the Nox Monk Hood, Nobles Travelling Garb and White Reeds Gauntlets and Greaves. Looks really good and is a lot of fun to use.

These have such a cool move set that you only need endure + godskin swaddling cloth. Infinite Regen and super high def

            Wish there was Miquella's Footwork...

So I wouldn't think twice before becomming his Eternal Consort!

And I would be the happiest Last Boss ever!

If I had a nickel for every time you stole a man's foot to use as a weapon in this game, I'd have two nickels - which isn't a lot, but it's weird that happened twice

The movesets of Dryleaf Arts and Dane’s Footwork are identical, except for the neutral R1 and neutral R2 attack chains. Dryleaf Arts has more punches (fast, short range), while Dane’s Footwork has more kicks (slightly slower, slightly longer range). Overall, Dane’s Footwork is slightly stronger due to better synergy with shattered stone talisman and divine bird warrior greaves.

The low requirements on this implies that all that was holding the kick ash of war back was its lack of a piece of cloth that weighs 1 pound

                  • Anonymous

These with the whirlwind kick aow is very powerful, both for status effects & raw damage. To get big damage go cracked tear, cracked stone talisman, shard Alexander. Can obv get higher with more talismans but this is a good combo to keep a couple slots free for health/stamina/damage reduction talismans.

Nice try fromsoft...better off using bare fists, no armor and level 10 to go through the whole game on ng+8...oh, point? Waste of space, time, money and effort. Good thing it's your last game. Learn to buff and not nerf everything in your game before moving on. That advice was free;)

Using this off-hand with Milady with Wing Stance in the main hand and I've never seen anymore stylish.

Even if it's not that optimal, just a super cool fighting style

                        • Anonymous

Anyone tried using these in the offhand while main handing a bigger, slower weapon?

It still gets a pretty varied moveset instead of the super limited and basic left hand set that most other weapons get when you're asymmetrically dual wielding. and the ability to switch up between big powerful hits with the right hand and faster combo hits with the left seems like it could be crazy, especially in PvP.

                          • Anonymous

I’ve tried a few times to make these viable in pvE at least with underwhelming results. Heavy affinity, shattered stone, rotten sword, twinblade and charged talisman. Divine bird feet and raksashas set. The R2 chain is only two attacks, and charging an r2 is fairly quick here as well. Divine beast stomp for skill damage and frost build up. The other way is making it poison and using the scarlet rot kick skill, which might do more damage but I didn’t really find it that fun.

I hate to sound like a b*tch but these leaf arts should've been invisible and should've let us just use whatever gauntlets we have equipped. They look FUGGLY.

Such cool additions to the weapon roster besides all that though fr! The Buddhist moveset from Sekiro never really felt viable and I'm happy they low-key brought that back in this game through these weapons.

This, naked, Dragon heart, blue dancer, ritual sword, blessed dew, shattered stone.

Buff with golden vow and black flame protection. Use the stacking hits and opaline tears.

Leda's armour, Lacerating Crossed-tree talisman, shattered stone talisman, Divine Bird Warrior greaves, lord of bloods exultation, white mask, and blood affinity... Your running will make things not want to live because thats a 70% damage increase, a passive of 40% and extra 30% when blood proc happens nearby you can get that with a sword with seppuku.

Please do make a comment if theres something that increases this damage further :)

Hey would anyone be willing to drop an in-upgraded version of this for me on PS5. I want to do a One Piece run with my buddy as Zoro and me as Sanji. Though by the time I got this, it seems like the dlc would be over. I’d be more than happy to mule items for you in exchange or what not.

Is there any reason using the other one over this one besides style preference? Considering this works with the Shattered Stone Talisman it has at least one more thing going for it.

                                      • Anonymous

If you get these without getting Dryleaf Arts first, you will not be able to get Palm Blast AoW that playthrough. So you either will have to swap AoWs or accept default scaling. Gotta love From making the AoW obtainable only with the missable version of the weapon type.

Really fun as an off-hand weapon when main handing something heavier. Weave in some kicks and punches in between sword hits. I've been using it with Freyja's Greatsword in the arena.

                                          • Anonymous

This weapon is really fun but, I feel that it is only viable with status effects. Cold/Poison/Bleed is probably your best bet for pvp since you cannot buff these weapons with anything other than braggarts roar which defeats the entire reason to use these. Bleed with whirlwind is good, and poison with blooms twice feels really good when you're able to land the AoW in pvp, but I feel like they're so close to being viable in pvp if you were able to go str/dex and be able to use a drawstring or a buff.

They can work in pvp, but it's going to take a lot of effort that will get countered with boluses. This could all be irrelevant if they end up buffing Dryleaf Whirlwind to give it hyper armour or make it hit all 4 times.

This thing HAS to be bugged or im insane but 50% of the time when i jump attack it immediately does a normal attack for some reason when i literally didnt press anything, i got hit numerous times because of this.

                                              • Anonymous

Both this and dryleaf art can work as a way to transmorg ugly gauntlet (cough*bullgoat*cough). Simply having them as a second right-hand (foot?) weapon, it masks the look of the glove and you can swap to regular weapon.

                                                • Anonymous

I think it’s a big missed opportunity not making the off hand kick have more range you’d see this in pvp a lot more

Hi everyone, are you ever noticed that if you make a Cold infusion, and split the amount of points in Dex AND Str, it has a better scaling than put everything on Int...? Even if i put some point until the hard cap in Int (so 80 points) and put all other points in Dex/Str, it doesn't worth it.

I tried to split 120 points in all the possibilities, and it appears that the B scaling in kinda buggy, no ? (Or maybe i just don't understand how scaling work...)

                                                    Sorry for my english.

Keep this in my offhand Cold-infused for frostbite procs with a Blood-infused Milady for bleed in my mainhand on my Quality build. Combine w/ Wingsword Insignia, Millicent's Prosthesis and Thorny Cracked Tear. Melts the sh-t out of Radahn and the Miquellester

                                                      • Anonymous

It is just me or is Dane's Footwork just worse than the regular Dryleaf Arts? It attacks so much slower, and despite kicks being the focus of this weapon the base dryleaf has better kicking moves in the running and jumping R2s.

I just made a poison build based around The Poison Flower Blooms Twice and kick attacks, and was excited to finally upgrade from the regular Dryleaf Arts to these, but the loss of the fast multi-hit kick R2s is not worth it for slightly more kicks in the R1 chain. I feel like I get better DPS with the regular Dryleaf Arts anyway because of the much faster attack speed.

                                                        • Anonymous

So how exactly do we like, "get" this as a "weapon" from Dane? Do we just learn it through osmosis after killing him? Lol

                                                          • Anonymous

                                                            Bleed goes insane with this.
Bleed dane's footwork + both of the talismans that boost consecutive hits, jump attack talisman maybe and lord of blood's exultation.
Pair it with dryleaf whirlwind (applies bleed for each kick from what i've tested), and you're good to go.
If a boss stagger easy like malenia, you're going to destroy it. So yeah, its a pretty cheese build to kill malenia too

If you have the Poison Hand in your off hand and 2 hand these with poison infusion + have the talisman on they both activate when you poison an enemy.

                                                              • Anonymous

This weapon is just underpowered. At least for pvp and dueling purposes. The lack of range, poise damage, and AR makes it so that fighting 99% of other builds puts you at a disadvantage. You can do a reasonable amount of damage if you're fighting aggressive players but most will opt to space and roll most of the things you can throw out. The guard counter helps with this but the most you're going it get is 1 successful block from most medium weapon types and up. You can sort of put pressure on enemy's with chase downs, but most weapons moves come out faster than and running R1 or R2 no matter if its one handed or 2 handed. You do get attacks in quick succession so with ashes like Endure you can proc status fast. But the tracking is also worse than most weapons believe it or not. Because of the immensely short range a lot of your attacks whiff and you wont full turn a strafing enemy unless you crouch. The biggest issue is by far the poise damage. Anyone with heavy armor will walk through any barrage of attacks. The only way to stagger is with heavy attacks and it takes from 4 to 6 hits to get a good stagger. Anything with hyper armor can swat you away so there's little trade potential with this weapon. This weapon could benefit greatly with an increase of poise damage somewhere in the kit. Here's my personal suggestions: When 2 handing, 1st kick of 2 hit heavy would 75% Poise break a player with 85 Poise, the second hit would do the last 25%. The first kick could keep the same damage profile while the second kick does more damage. The R1s and Rolling R1 need a speed buff and slight poise damage increase. And if you land a heavy attack it should be able to combo into the 1st kick of a light attack. I suggest these changes because then it would give the weapon the ability to apply pressure to someone close range. They enemy would have to focus on spacing you correctly without the guarantee of a favorable trade if caught in close combat.

                                                                • Anonymous

Insane with poison flower blooms twice. Talisman for kicks and poison proc talisman go great with this too. I like off handing the dryleaf arts with frost after

                                                                  • Anonymous

So I saw someone say that the shattered stone talisman worked with Poison Flower Blooms Twice since it's a kick, which inspired me to try these out on my arcane build... Turns out these are insane at inflicting status fast, so I get to use the AoW very often for massive damage, and this also means that I get all the available "boost damage when poison occurs in vicinity" effects practically constantly. This along with the shattered stone talisman gives me a massive damage boost on all of my attacks.

                                                                    • Has no one else been using this thing with Deflecting Hardtear? It’s got a really fast Guard Counter that deals a stupid amount of poise damage and just damage in general. Been going through Radahn phase 1 in three GCs and 20 seconds and killed Mohg before he could even do anything in Phase 2.

                                                                      • Anonymous

Beyond fun and flashy to play around with, but unfortunately they suffer the same issues as fist weapons do - no real advantage over weapons with longer reach which is the other 99% of the weapons in the game. Its long combos with good forward momentum would have made up for the short range but due to lack of hyper armor coupled with the short range it’s far too easy to be interrupted without running Endure, which sure you can always do that but where is the fun/sense in a weapon only being made viable with a single specific skill and being unable to use others.

                                                                        • Anonymous

As much as I would love to co-op with these, they just don’t do enough damage to keep up with the enhanced health. Good PvP weapon though.

                                                                          • Anonymous

I'm finding it difficult to stay aggressive with this in boss fights, unless I put on bloodhounds step to quickly get in and out. The kicking version is slightly slower than the fist version but you kinda need to pull off more than one attack every opening to deal good damage and a mobile AOW enables this. Might experiment with the poison flower blooms twice AoW as well

                                                                            • Anonymous

                                                                              • Anonymous

                                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                                  • Anonymous

It's the perfect gap closer with great poise break and puts you in perfect position for a variety of follow-ups. You won't be disappointed.

                                                                                    • Anonymous

Powerstance both hand to hands with footwork on the right and the Hoarah Loux's Earthshaker ash it really throws people off and you can catch large groups. two head turtle, shard of alex, shatterstone, and rotten winged

                                                                                        • Anonymous

                                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                                            • Anonymous
