Rotten Crystal Spear is a Spear in Elden Ring. The Rotten Crystal Spear scales primarily with Strength, Dexterity and Intelligence and is a good Weapon for medium range attacks and inflicting magic damage.
Spear fashioned from pure crystal; a deed impossible for a human.
It festers with scarlet rot.
Enwreathed with powerful magic, its attack scales with intelligence.
Where to Find Rotten Crystal Spear in Elden Ring
The Rotten Crystal Spear weapon can be found at the following location:
- Can be dropped by Lesser Crystalian enemies located within Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree
- 2 of them can be found in the room just next to the Elphael Inner Wall site of grace.
- A consistent strategy is to lure one of them out with any throwable item, projectile weapon or spell, then use a striking-type weapon of your choice to fish for backstabs, followed with a charged heavy attack as they rise from the ground. After several critical or heavy blows the Lesser Crystalian will crack and become easy to stunlock with regular attacks.
- 2 of them can be found in the room just next to the Elphael Inner Wall site of grace.
- Best way to farm is to go to the one at the Elphael Inner Wall, use the Fallingstar Beast Jaw +9 Weapon Art and kill it without passing over the tree root and aggroing the spearmen. Takes a few tries to get the drop, but no skill required.

Why the hell does this count as a unique weapon when something like the Antspur isn't? It really feels like this should be a regular weapon that you can put Ashes of War on.
- Anonymous
Since they fixed charge forth, this weapon has a somewhat complete moveset
- Anonymous
For some reason CRS will also aggro them. So stitch with staff of loss if you are using Night Maiden’s Mist
- Anonymous
If you're using night maiden's mist to farm this, DO NOT use Lusat's glintstone staff. It agros the crystalians. They will ignore it coming from the staff of loss and regal carian scepter.
- Anonymous
Why does this have the same amount of rot buildup as the antspur rapier? This is a spear, so its much slower, and you cant buff or infuse this, but you can do that with the antspur. I really dont understand some of the decisions in this game.
- Anonymous
Spamming the Ringed finger AoW can knock them down and crack them in two uses
- Anonymous
Kinda sucks this is the only spear with rot/poison build up

If you stay back and don't aggro, you can throw in Night Maiden's Mist and it won't aggro them. Takes a while, but you can kill all 3 without actually having to fight.
- Anonymous
I haven't been able to find it written anywhere, but if you don't meet the Int requirement of the weapon, the rot buildup won't work nearly as well.
- Anonymous
To anyone wondering why people aren't using this weapon, it's because they can't put their crutch AoW's on them. Also people just cheat in rot grease anyway, which just puts this weapon onto an infusible one.
- Anonymous
I put the ash of war "Prayerful Strike" on my Golem's Halberd and lure one at a time. The weapon art squishes the guys onto the ground and one charge attack staggers them as they stand up. Repeat and you've got yourself a stun-lock farming method.

Spears with rot??? Why is noone playing with it?!
On Paper, this weapon combines two stongest things in game
- Anonymous
The 'blasphemous blade' combined with 'the flame of frenzy' incantation can and will easily trap the crystalians in a loop of getting knocked on their arses by the BB's 'takers flames' then hit with the TFoF incantation before they are back on their feet. Regardless of their outer shell needing to be cracked to damage them, that frenzy incantation absolutely cripples them giving enough time to knock them down with takers flames again, and so on until they are done for, I was doing this to them myself at brace of the haligtree I didn't take so much as a single hit.

Night Maidens mist wont wake them up. just charge cast it in the middle of them and watch them melt
- Anonymous
Dex/int greatshield counter:
1) Power stance these to get a quick proc thanks to multi hit. maybe pair with rot pots.
2) Cold Vulgar shotle with RKR or ice spear. Chip away, and estus punish with the L2
I haven’t tried this myself but I can imagine that would be somewhat effective
- Anonymous
If you are doing 80+ arcane and don't want to respec to farm this I would recommend having a spear with specter lance as that ash of war staggers them in 3 to 4 hits. Use it to lure one at a time and when they get on the other side of the roots they stagger and you can stun lock em to death.

After one night of powerstancing these babies (30 minutes of grinding, color me lucky)....
These weapons are DANGEROUS. They are:
-relatively low in stat req
-sporting an AMAZING moveset, even for elden ring where movesets are rather generous
-above average range
-lowish damage which is offset by their offensive pressure and moveset
-scarlet rot...need I say more?
Cons:
-low immediate damage
-kind of iffy weapon art that features a decent amount of lag, so you'll get punished if you use it wrong
-powerstance generally takes a lot of stamina out of you so you won't be able to be offensive indefinitely
In practice these are A+ at the very least. People often forget about the pressure scarlet rot sets to they'll panic and you can take games with it.
Counterplay:
Like all spears, you're going to have to outdamage it in trades or make some very difficult reads with a punishing, consistent and fast ash of war. Will also struggle against zoners and ganks.

Gravity Bolt on a +9 Fallingstar Beast Jaw opens these guys up in 3 hits, didn't start testing until +4, so my stats are kinda high to go off though
I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone powerstancing these yet.
- Anonymous
If charge forth hit a bunch of times like it did in dark souls, we'd have a stew goin. As is, best left in storage
- Anonymous
Flame of the Redmane opens these guy up for a riposte in 2 uses.

Two of these +kindred of rots exultation absolutely melt maleketh

Night Maiden’s Mist doesn’t aggro Crystalians, so it could be an easy way to farm them.
at least you get good runes from each kill... got it at about 20 mins of farming. Got x2 on back to back kills
- Anonymous
Got 2 in 5 kills from the 2 at inner wall with the silver scarab and foot, second dropped after 2 kills with no foot, 9 arcane.
Scal8ng looks terrible and rot is low, but the collector in me needed all the int weapons for my sorc
- Anonymous
Best way to farm is to go to the one at the Elphael Inner Wall, use the Fallingstar Beast Jaw +9 Weapon Art and kill it without passing over the tree root and aggroing the spearmen. Takes a few tries to get the drop, but no skill required.
- Anonymous
Use the Fallingstar Beast Jaw +9 weapon art to stunlock the Crystalians to death one at a time, its much better than trying this with a mace.
- Anonymous
By far the easiest way to farm these crystallians is to equip Fallingstar Beast Jaw, stand on the roots and spam the ash of war Gravity Bolt, just spam one button while you watch videos
- Anonymous
Why this and the sword can't use any ashes of war is beyond me.
- Anonymous
Power standing with this(+24) and got NG+1 Radahn start proc after 4 L1 attack. Massively insane.

This thing is really disappointing. At +10 with 75 dex it only gets an ar of 555. Don't be fooled by the magic damage. Its negligible and doesn't scales well at all. Its a pure dex weapon. On top of that it's scarlet rot build up of 55 is just too low when bleed and poison infusions can get 100+. Even with powerstancing it takes on average about 4-5 attacks in pvp, so double that with a single spear. Most times you kill someone before it even procs. PVE isn't much better either. Dragons that get scarlet rotted in one rotten breath take about 15 hits with this thing. It needed a higher scarlet rot build up or a good weapon art that allowed multiple hits to make it really viable. But it gets the very basic spear weapon art and it can't be changed. Again. Very disappointing.
- Anonymous
What happens if I have all the necessary stats to wield it, minus the int? Will this only butcher the magic damage, or are there other downsides?
- Anonymous
It's actually a bit ridiculous you can't use AoW on this. You can on the Antspur, so I don't see why you shouldn't be able to on this as well.
- Anonymous
The skill is Charge Forth and it can't be replaced which sucks. Guess I'll stick with my Antspur Rapier.
- Anonymous
Dropped Rotten Crystalian in the Elphael Inner Wall Grace in the Haligtree that's guarding the Rotten Crystal Sword. The staff counterpart is also dropped by the mage one.
- Anonymous
Can be found before the boss fight of malenia where 3 crystal guys can be found! Two of them have spears kill them to have a chance to get the Rotten Crystal Spear! You can also look it up on YouTube I uploaded a video!
- Anonymous
Don't these drop from the scarlet crystallians with spears in the haligtree?
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Does this inflict scarlet rot? The rotten crystal sword does so I assume this does aswell but don't have it myself
Spawn at the Elphael Inner Wall Grace in the Haligtree and head straight then take a left, there are two spearmen and a mage on the other side a the small section of roots, the spear dropped from the first one I killed. They can be pulled one by one to make it easier.

There are two crystallian enemies in the SW of the shallow lake area, pretty much due south of the Rose church with Varre, that appear to be carrying this weapon. Made several farming runs without luck, however, but it's the only place I can think of that seems to have this and at least it's a start.
parry two of this makes me feel like going back to DS2 lol
