Scorpion's Stinger is a Dagger in Elden Ring. The Scorpion's Stinger scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity. It is a good Weapon for quickly applying the rot effect and dealing powerful damage-over-time. Particularly great for defeating dragons.

Dagger fashioned from a great scorpion's tail, glistening with scarlet rot.

A ceremonial tool used by heretics, crafted from the relic of a sealed outer god.

God if I could just use black flame blade on this I’d never unequip it. Why does antspur get to be op?

      • Anonymous

The description of this weapon suggests that the Pests not only worship the God sealed in the Lake of Rot, but are somehow able to get into physical contact with it. Worrying stuff.

        • You don't need to upgrade this weapon, just keep it in your back pocket as a crutch for hard fights. The default ability (Repeating Thrust) synergises perfectly and only costs 7 FP, so it's really easy to inflict rot. The dagger itself has really low requirements and weight, so practically any build can use this back pocket rot-tech.

          • Anonymous

It looks like the rot buildup is not applied if you don't meet the stats requirements for this weapon, i was playing a mage with the minimum dex to use the DMGS, i wanted to see if i could use this weapon to just proc rot at the start of a fight and being 1 dex short i never managed to apply rot to the tree sentinel that you can face at the start of the game, the weapon was +0 (not that it matters), i kept whacking him over and over with attacks and WA nothing happened
Kinda sad, i don't see how not meeting the stats requirements nullify the rot already present on the weapon, balancing i guess

            • This thing does indeed have a nice poke r2 and being a dagger is insanely good at proccing rot (EXCEPT powerstancing since buildup is heavily reduced). It is also fairly long for a dagger. The Big Problem is not even the skill, but the fact it is found very lategame while Antspur rapier can be obtained without having to fight a single boss. The Stinger has a couple advantages over the rapier tho: it's even faster, 0.5 points lighter (sometimes it matters) and has basically no requirements. Which boils down to a weird conclusion one of the previous posters came out with too (and was bombarded with dislikes) - sidearm purposes aside, this is indeed a very good early game weapon. Only, not for natural progression, but for a low level coop character - a very reliable way to proc rot on bosses fast, and it does barely need stats to be useful. In pvp tho, it's not very good as a weapon, besides, rot at low levels is... loathsome

Sometimes I think this should’ve been like reduvia but that would’ve left all scarlet rot sources pointless, even rotten breath and antspur rapier

                • Anonymous

You need to use this on primary arm to get the rot to procc consistently. The Repeating Thrust AOW seems to "inject" the rot and get it working. Pairs great with another poison dagger.

                  • Anonymous

This thing is surprisingly good once you figure the trick out.

You need to use it on your primary arm, and use the repeating thrust. It for whatever reason, "injects" the rot in and it can reliably procc on beefier opponents. Pair it with a poison dagger to double the passive tic dmg. I used a poison Great Knife on off-hand. Passive DPS go brr.

                    • Anonymous

Very good early game weapon, melts bosses. Ash of war is perfect. As soon as you inflict rot just get away and focus on dodging, rot'll melt them by itself.

Also use Rotten Stray Ashes for a doggy that inflicts rot too, pretty easy to get if you know the teleporter trap to get to the cave near there

                      • Anonymous

Rotten Battle Hammer gets an S scaling with str, an A scaling with blood and poison infusions. It even gets an A with occult scaling. Antspur Rapier is just good in general. Even the rotten crystal straight sword and spear have higher damage and generally have an easier time applying rot against bosses.
In comparison, I just don't know what they were going for with this dagger. The only benefit it really has over other rot weapons is its low stat requirement. But you still have to get through most of Ranni's quest, cross the Lake of Rot, and fight through an army of those spammy bugmen to even get this thing. You would think with all the effort it takes to obtain this thing, it would be a bit stronger.

What world class fxxking intellectual decided to put quick pokes as an ash of war on a weapon that's already fast?

                          • Anonymous

Currently at ng + 17 or so my fav weapon i pair with Reduvia for insane burst dmg. Gettin into range with some bosses can be Tricky but it devastates them total.

I noticed the Wolf head on the pommel of the dagger and I have been recently thinking about the lack of shadows for Miqulla and Melania... What if the dagger was made from a weapon used by Malenias' shadow? It would make sense that the shadow would have a connection to scarlet rot and perhaps came looking for information or something to cure the scarlet rot. Found the dead rot god scorpion and used its stinger as a blade. The timeline is weird and we don't know exactly when the rot god was sealed. Perhaps there is time travel involved as well. We know time travel is possible and Fromsoft is not shy about using that as a mechanic. Maybe Malenias' shadow went back in time to try to kill the rot god in the past to try to prevent Malenia from being affected by it. Knowing time travel tropes, this may have caused Malenia to be afflicted. Shadows are directly connected to their Empyrean after all. Perhaps the shadow also became a servant of rot. Being corrupted just like Melania but not as strong of will to resist it. It could be Miqullas shadow that is trying to stop Melanias shadow. It would fit as that would be a "shadow" of what Miqulla is trying to do.

Why does the scorpion dagger have a wolf on the pommel? It's an interesting choice, I wonder what the association is.

Or is that supposed to be something else?

                                • Anonymous

The best way to use this is to off hand it with a good dex halberd like the Guardian Sword Spear on keen and use rot grease. You will proc rot consistently in PvP if the fight goes on, and the dagger move set compensates for weaknesses in the halberd. Running r1 of sword spear forward by 2 l1 of the scorpion stinger is a good basic attack string.

                                    Weapon is 6/10 BUT...

                                    A) Should have been rewarded for killing a great scorpion boss at the Lake of Rot instead of just being found by an insect cult
                                    B) It should have been a paired weapon so you don't have to go through the game twice just to get another one AND to make it more viable than Antspur Rapier at rot
                                    C) slighty more rot than Antspur Rapier
                                    D) Unique Weapon Art instead of the terrible repeating thrust which cannot even hit a shield and is almost useless against end game bosses
                                    E) Alternatively allow us to change weapon art

Because Antspur Rapier is superior in terms of damage, range, damage per second, how to get and can change weapon art, I cannot justify this weapon. It feels like Fromsoftware found this weapon op in dual wielding (which it can be in the right hands), but in one handed or two handed mode it's worse than antspur rapier in every most aspects.

Side Note: Daggers and many other low ranged weapons can barely hit some enemies such as Dragonkin Soldier or Tree bosses at the front which makes them even worse than other weapons in PvE.

                                    • Anonymous

I think it would be cool if this thing instantly proc’d scarlet rot on a backstab or critical hit, similarly to what the cleanrot knights have with their spear grab attack. Daggers as a whole are pretty underpowered, and this weapon even more so with its low crit modifier and unchangeable AoW, so I feel like that would help to give it a leg up compared to other daggers even if it’s only used as a riposte tool like the misericorde

                                      • Wielding this in my offhand, powerstancing with Reduvia / Black Knife / Misericorde in mainhand.. and it seems the scarlet rot never procs (L1 attack). Can anyone confirm that? Do you need to have it in right hand equipped to proc or what is happening?

                                        • Anonymous

The wolf was on the pommel looks very out of place other than that I like that this blade is basically taken from a scorpion

                                          • Anonymous

Great design, except for the pommel. A wolf head doesn't seem right. Almost feels like a placeholder that made it to release.

                                            • Anonymous

It really needs ability to put Ash of War on this... otherwise Antspur Rapier is superior to it in every way possible.

                                              • Anonymous

powerstancing these even at +0/+0 is a great way to kick off a fight with rot, for a much lower weight cost than other rot proc weaponry.

                                                • Anonymous

Besides the scarlet rot, this dagger does more damage at 80 dex than a max keen Misericorde or Great Knife (which has S scaling at +25).

                                                  • Anonymous

They need to fix some of these weapons and make them able to be infused because this weapon being stuck in stand is total garbage. That’s probably fine but atleast let me buff it with bloodflame blade man

                                                    • Anonymous

Does this weapon instant scarlet rot on critical when upgraded all the way? Just wondering because considering it’s a dagger, it should provide most benefit from critical attack.

                                                      • Anonymous

Stop saying you can apply ashes of war or infusions into this. Seriously.
You either dont have the weapon and are providing bullcrap- or dont even have the game.
Or you're just flat out cheating
Or maybe you're exploiting a bug and you either dont know it or dont want to share it.

This weapon. CANNOT be infused, enchanted OR have ashes of war applied to it. End of fvcking story.
STOP providing misinformation. Christ some of you make me want to blow my brains out.

This is mean my for a pure Dexterity build. Out this weapon in the off hand on your first play through until you get another on ng+. In the off hand the first L1 attack will hit twice. Effectively applying scarlet rot twice. I have 2 of the. At the moment. It’s a fun way to play the game.

Pair it up with a duel wield of both the Scalebone and Dragonscale Blade to switch to and it’s an awesome build for a pure dexterity character.

                                                            • Anonymous

I genuinely wonder why this weapon cannot be infused with ashes of war when the Antspur Rapier can? They both have similar scaling and both apply scarlet rot. The only difference is moveset. Oh well, guess I'll have to settle for the rapier for no good reason.

                                                              • Anonymous

If you want to go a scarlet rot build. As a weapon Antspur Rapier is probably way better because it can also be infused with ashes of war and works well with a shield. Rotten Breath would still be a better source of rot than any weapon but since the rapier can also be infused with blood or poison it would still be an interesting dps build.
Frost would have probably been my favorite if it wasnt bugged to nullify scarlet rot buildup after a few upgrades.

                                                                  • Anonymous

Swap to reduvia and the dagger that applies frost, dual hit bosses with those while the dot works. The only problem is how hard this dagger is to acquire, but the combo is ****ing killer. And requires next to zero attribute investment overall.
