Bro this weapon’s R2 is nuts in pvp. The momentum of the thrust gives it a “de facto” range of a straight sword R2. The heavy attack buff also makes it nigh unreactable and of course it’s pierce so it gets counter damage. Put quickstep for that juicy crit damage and this is one of the best off-meta setups you’ll find.

In DSR, we had the Silver Tracer.

In DS2, we had the Bandit's Dagger.

In DS3, we had the Chaos Dagger.

And in Elden Ring, we have Misericórdia to be the best crit attack weapon.

Okay maybe this is already common knowledge, if so I didn't find a clue to it on this page nor in the comments.
But I just noticed that if you kill someone (at least mobs) with this dagger with a critical attack it give you 20% more runes.

I noticed it when I was casually backstabbing old dancing women in a village wondering why I got different amount of runes killing the same mob. I also switched to different weapons and stuff and also tried other locations. But apparently this dagger give you 20% more runes on a critical kill.

          Can someone please confirm this?

Mignt unironically be the single highest value acqusition you get from one of those gremlin statues and their keys. Usually you get some talisman with mild usefulness or maybe a cool spell... But this thing? No matter what build you have and what weapons you use - this fella got a spot in your loadout and got your back.
Backstabs, guard breaks, stance breaks, parries...There's more opportunities to deliver critical strikes than ever, and you will get a lot of mileage out of this thing.

Despite featuring fairly flacid scaling capabilities - its base damage is so high that it doesn't matter. I was hoping that 130 Dagger would be able to outpace this guy in late game, but it just wasn't meant to be.
At 70 INT, +19 Magic infusion even THOUGH the Dagger gets +50 more scaling damage - the Miseriman over here simply STARTS with +60 base damage from the get go, scaling be damned. And at that point i doubt pushing both of them to +25 will do much - at best they will end up the same.
Except Miseriman is longer and is capable of thrusts, on top of everything else. Just such an absolute no-brainer.

[Stonesword-FREE] There's a secret way to the armory room. On the rooftops, after jumping down to retrieve the smithing stone [2], on the narrow way that leads to the large roof guarded by a warhawk, you can jump down onto a zone with two rats. It may hurt a bit but you have now access to the armory by sneak-jumping a moron in the face into blitzing two others shitheads who haven't realized that death has come for them. You can loot for free and prepare for the Grafted Scion boss, if not killed already.

Should become everyone's go-to for backstabs or (most) poise broken enemies/bosses. Kept as as a second weapon, just for that very purpose. (Buffed with Royal Knights Resolve before administering a coup de grâce.)

It seems to have a special property on certain bosses, making the crimson dagger talisman activate two heals. I may need to test that more.

Only weapon in the game I have on every single build. Light, infusible, low requirements, and can potentially end a fight in one move. GOATed.

I remember people using this with Endure, and using the frenzy grab Incantation to one shot.

                      Good times, good times.

Time does really past fast, like an F-16 with afterburner.

I miss it. I remember it like if it was just some months ago...

i've been thinking about it and with the addition of the main-gauche into the game it has me wondering why this thing doesn't also powerstance with thrusting swords. the point of the misericorde is literally to thrust in between the gap of an opponent's armor to finish them off. odd.

Does royal knights resolve break this thing? thinking about making a mega broken counter damage (Golden vow+flame grant me strength, deflecting+bloodsucking tears, anchor + spear/curved/twohand talismans+royal knights resolve ash) build and swapping to this after breaking their stance assuming they survive that long. Perhaps a dex mainhand better-suited for huge counters would be a better fit, as the lightning misericorde is superior at crits with high stats as was illustrated by a great commenter below.

Why exactly is this weapon considered better for crits than let's say Magma Wyrm's Scalesword? I get that it has 140 crit scaling, but its base damage is nearly 2 times lower, resulting in overall smaller critical strike damage no? Genuine question, I'm sure there's something I'm not taking into account.

                                                    Make this make sense:

Standard Misericorde buffed with Scholar's Armament: has more AR, does more damage on a regular hit, but A LOT LESS critical hit damage (and, yes, the buff affects this, it does even less without the buff)

Magic Misericorde: has less AR, does less damage on a regular hit, but A LOT MORE critical hit damage

                                                    ????

if this is just like other souls games, the best way to use critical hits is by raising the total Attack Rating of the weapon, so it can give drawstring greases a use by applying them quickly before hitting the riposte or backstab with no stat invesments whatsoever. also, the black flame blade has a significantly shorter cast time and spell duration, making me believe that it's the best spell to use for this effect, and is even deals damage based on max HP. otherwise, any elemental affinity is probably good as well.

Is this the best weapon for Black Flame Blade? Daggers are supposed to have the fastest weapon swing and the Misericorde is the longest dagger, so it'd be easier to hit enemies.

I'm so glad this thing exists, it's a godsend for farming annoying enemies for their armor/weapon drops. Like those Duelists in Leyndell, the Banished Knights, Mausoleum Knights, and so many others. Crank up that backstab damage as much as possible, wear Black Knife armor and one shot them, quickly and painlessly.

just a reminder this isnt worth using unless ur doing a parrying build. even swapping to this is to do a crit isnt worth it since you can just do an extra R1 before the crit and probably get more damage with ur main weapon. The high crit rate only barely offsets the fact that this is one of the lowest AR weapons in the game

This thing just has too many things going for it. I love Elden Ring but this is an excellent example of its occasionally questionable design choices. It has the longest range by far in its class, average weight (only being .5 units heavier than the lightest daggers), extremely easy requirements to meet, superlative base damage, the highest critical hit modifier, and can take all the same ashes of war the other infusible daggers can, with excellent performance under any affinity. It is just The Best dagger. In DS3, the Dagger was the best critical hitter in its class, but other daggers were better for direct combat, like Corvian Greatknife, Aquamarine Dagger and the dreaded Murky Hand Scythe. In DS2, the Umbral Dagger (which Misericorde resembles) had extremely high dexterity scaling and boosted backstab damage - but it was brittle and could not be infused. It was substandard for direct combat but had its time and place. Misericorde, conversely, invalidates every other dagger that lacks a unique L2 to give it a niche. But like it or not, that makes it close to mandatory for every build. Even builds that could somehow do more critical hit damage with another weapon will enjoy a 2.0 weight Ash of War tool that can also nicely complement slower weapons with its high attack speed.

                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                    “Cuz it’s easy.

                                                                    • Anonymous

You know how the weapon art of the Dragon King’s Cragblade, Thundercloud Form, deals just under 70 stance damage when many bosses have 80? Slap on the stance damage and lightning tears in physick, equip dagger talisman and swap to a Lightning Misericorde for probably big damage. I don’t have the game but I thought this would be cool

                                                                      • Anonymous

                                                                        • Anonymous

If you intend to work Misericorde into your build, I'd suggest using the Keen affinity on it. Although it does 32 less damage than Standard, it gains an extra 5 Stance damage along with the best DEX scaling on the list all the way from +8 to +25 (B). It also has the standard defense however if you're using this as a main, I would equip the Buckler in your off hand (comes preset with the Bandit class) so that you can use the Buckler Parry ash of war. As for the weapon itself I like to use either Bloodhounds Step or Impaling Thrust, however this depends on what you're going for. All in all, on of my favorite daggers and exceptionally good for landing devastating reposts on big bosses.

                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                            • I thought I was a genius when I applied Sacred Blade ash of war to this dagger to deal a ton (90 base * 3.98 dagger crit motion value * 1.4 crit multiplier) of additional damage. But after a lot of testing I figured out that riposte attack (as well as a vast majority of moves in this game) uses a separate motion value for spBuffs, equal to 1. And on top of that, crit multiplyer does not seem to affect any weapon buffs at all. So I ended up with just 90 holy damage. Well, at least it helps with the regular R1 combo...

                                                                              • Anonymous

Stupid parry idea but theoretically possible: two misercordes left one parry right one BHS.

The idea is to parry with left misercorde then two hand right one and reverse BHS backstab just to style on your opponent.

This is wildly impractical but could be possible in the arena if you’re quick enough though you will probably need to back up slightly so that reverse BHS doesn’t go too far.

Reverse quickstep is another easier alternative or by sacrificing dual dagger moveset you can use a curved sword in left hand for even more style points.

This plan isn’t for practicality it’s for styling your opponent so hard they have to uninstall.

                                                                                • Anonymous

In a world of boring meta weapon arts like corpse piler, got to give respect to the weapon that requires more than just spamming one button to be used well.

                                                                                  • Anonymous

Once the enemy/boss's stance breaks, pull out the Misericorde with RKR on it, apply RKR, walk up for the crit and delete their healthbar. Surprisingly satisfying.

My argument is, imagine you are hitting the armor with a club, yes, you are doing damage and all, but in essence you are crushing the armor, which blocks some of the damage. On the other hand, there is this little one here, which is thin and long, it goes through the joints of the armor, the slits for the eyes, the area around the neck, the groin area, etc.
Well, yes, this is a game, so don't be smart!
And there are all sorts of magicians in robes, and clubs are also erased by themselves.

                                                                                          • Anonymous

I don't quite get why having such a high crit stat makes so much of a difference on a weapon which, quite bluntly, has such low base damage, to the point that people will actively swap to it after staggering/parrying solely for the riposte? I mean, even the damage gets multiplied by more, surely you'd still just get way more damage by using a weapon that flat-out does more to start with? Clearly there's something I don't quite understand about critical hits.

                                                                                            • Anonymous

Elden Ring is the most fun when you don't min-max but take more equipment with you. It's a weight issue by taking more things: "would you like an ability for 2 weight?"

Turtle Shield, the sacrificial axe, misericorde, claws with life steal. You lose like 2-3% protection and gain an ability. And the Misericorde tends to be a standard asset in my runs. Right up till midgame it actually does VERY well in a bleed build just before I switch it out with the Great Knife later which scales better with occult near endgame. Depending on the area I'll either bring the Misericorde.

A sidenote for this weapon however. It underperforms with buffs like cold, bleed, poison etc. From my experience you want as high AP on it as you can get. So Magic, Holy, Fire or any of the quality variations. Which is counter intuitive as I'm doing a dagger run right now and this is my main right-hand weapon with bleed on it. My off-spec flame flamberge is still outperforming the Misericorde with bleed on it.

                                                                                              • Anonymous

Yeah lemme just watch an hour and a half long video for this one item. Hey, fextralife, do you want me to make dedicated videos for each and every item? I have considered it before

                                                                                                • Anonymous

It might seem silly, especially when there’s RKR... but for pvp I actually use sacred order on miscericorde as a finisher. RKR makes people run away, but sacred order makes people try to punish it (+ looks cooler) and then they jump right into my r2.

                                                                                                  • Anonymous

"No, the Mail Breaker shall always suck."
*sigh* "But what if we connect it to a weird faction that gets mentioned two times in our 100 hour game and give it a funny French name?"
"Okay, you may give it a crit modifier of 140."

Nice build. Makes it so you actually "play" the game and learn fight mechanics and not just spam AoW and then Crit. The Crit is the reward for good gameplay. A 2-handed hammer deals 11 stance damage so to match the pre-nerf Flames of the Redmanes, you'd need about 4 hits not including jump attacks, or R2 which should give you full stacks of the consecutive hit talismans/physic on enemies that needs 3 - 4 redmanes. Need to be aggressive though so the stacks don't decay and with low defense should be good with dodging. Light Roll and Endure are powerful and you won't really feel gimped even when naked. I'd still wear armor for fashion though but not more than 16.4 weight. Blue Dancer Charm still gives good damage at 16 weight. You only lose 3% damage from being naked.
