Looked at the Motions Values charts. The status effect buildup is 100 on the first hit, 50 on the second and third, and 100 on the fourth. Applies triple the amount of a weapon's status effect in total which is really good but it being being quite quick. I find it pairs best with the Flamberge for both its innate status effect as well as lack of thrusting attacks, giving this AoW more utility to it.

Don't sleep on this AoW, it punches way above it's weight class for how much it costs and how soon you can get it.
It costs 7 FP, so you can use it a LOT with no or very little investment needed.
Damage is weak early in the game, but it (along with other multi-hit attacks) start to ramp up damage the later you get in the game very fast. A full salvo of this will outdamage most AoW's late-game.
This weakness is offset by it being good for applying statuses through the multiple fast hits.
This AoW benefits most from dexterity investment, if you don't have high dex you won't see big number, if you're going full arcane for late game, use blood tax instead.
It looks cool and works well against most PVE, you'll probably have better keen AoW options in Pvp though.

I got this while heading toward Waypoint Ruins. Apparently the Night Calvary’s AI messed up and fell off a cliff or something

In case anyone isn't aware, that comment about power stance from April is no longer relevent. With the power-stance-status-build-up nerf, this skill is definitely a reliable way for proccing status effects in PvE.

            • Anonymous

Literally the exact same animation and moveset as Blood Tax, so you would only use this if it was forced (scorpion stinger) or if you wanted a non-physical non-arcane affinity to go with it, or if you can't get Blood Tax.
Secondly, whilst it seems good for applying status effects quickly, you will get faster/better build-up with any smaller weapon by simply powerstancing instead. This applies to both rapiers and daggers - you also have more opportunity to cancel out of a powerstance combo than this attack.

The only situation where you would want to use this is on a great spear or guardian sword-spear or something, and rely on the multiple pokes to guard-break your opponent. However, Impaling Thrust is designed to do the same thing in one attack and is most often the superior choice.
I'm not saying this is the worst ash in the game, I'm just saying it is outclassed in every situation for every playstyle...

"Twist to build power, then unleash a flurry of thrusts." ...Yeah, "build power." I wish this move had power behind it.
Decent enough for PvE about half the time if you're trying to apply an effect like bleed, poison, rot, or freeze.
In PvP it's practically useless and powerless.

Actually really good for getting certain debuffs off on bosses. By making the type bleed, it becomes really strong
