Elden Ring Endure Guide, Notes & Tips
- This is an Ash of War Skill, associated with the Ash of War: Endure.
- FP Cost: 9 on use
- This Skill is not Chargeable
- Upon activation, the user assumes a stance with their armament (weapon), providing them with a brief buff.
- The stance assumed depends of the weapon class used. This also means the activation and recovery times are different.
- "Large" armaments (Great and Colossal tier, excepting great spears) need a longer recovery time before the user can perform another action.
- "Large" armaments (Great and Colossal tier, excepting great spears) need a longer recovery time before the user can perform another action.
- The stance assumed depends of the weapon class used. This also means the activation and recovery times are different.
- Increases all absorptions by 45%, and provides increased poise against all attacks.
- This buff lasts 3 seconds and remains the same among all armaments.
- The absorption and increased poise buff start as soon as the user consumes FP, regardless of the animation.
- Some minor attacks can bounce off the user upon hit, such as spear attacks used behind a shield.
- The increased poise allows the user to become immune to stagger from most attacks
- Attack that count as headshots or knockups can still stagger and interrupt the user.
- This buff lasts 3 seconds and remains the same among all armaments.
- If used without FP:
- Absorption only increases by 10%
- Poise obtained is decreased, allowing heavy attacks to stagger the user.
- Buff only lasts 1 second
- Note: This Skill was changed with Patch 1.07 as follows:
- Effect duration has been extended but then Shortened again in Patch 1.07.1 as the adjustment had much more impact than expected.
- An effect that prevents staggers caused by blood loss and frostbite status effects has been added.
- Time between skill activation and being able to perform actions other than attacking has been reduced.

"Endure. In enduring, grow strong."
Can't believe no-one posted this classic here yet.

Something fun to do with this is to get Aspects of the Crucible: Tail, and then go to Gatefront and make the hornblower blow his horn to rally everyone to attack you, and then run into the thick of them and do Endure into Tail to blow them all away. Presumably also enables various other big slow spells that you might otherwise get hit out of.

This is a very strong ability right now. Using it essentially sets much of the game to easy mode. If you think it needed to stay buffed, then you aren't using it right.

This needs to be buffed for pvp now that the colosseums are out. At least give us 10 seconds. How the heck are those of us who don't use high poise or meta builds supposed to compete with ashes like Giant Hunt or Lion's Claw? Or all the annoying players who just run around spamming stagger pokes the whole match?

absolutely hate that this became meta but now laughing at the people crying about it being reversed to its original state. It was already useful before and still is, stop whining because you want to avoid all stagger at all times lol.

Never seen such a big fuss about a skill... One day buffed the next day nerfed.
What's more broken than endure is the dual weapon power stance

What I don’t understand is why they don’t just separate the skill into two groups with two durations. That’s what they did in ds3 and they even do something similar with certain ashes of war. Weapons considered large could have the longer duration while small weapons could have the shorter duration. That prevents people from throwing it on a dagger or something to get the strong effect with low weight

Patch notes for 1.07.1 say "shortened duration" without saying how much.
For anyone digging for numbers, this just reverted the 5 second duration back to the old 3 seconds.

Congrats YT community. Your videos managed to get this ability nerfed immediately after getting buffed.

Bruh this things buff is amazing. Great for anyone. 5 seconds of no diminishing value in resistance or poise and a lil better recovery time... Can fit on any build and works wonders giving you actual time to make a play or bolt

using inescapable frenzy with TWO HANDED seal with endure from unupgraded short sword = 1000 damage.
using inescapable frenzy with TWO HANDED seal with endure from a FULLY upgraded short sword = 3000+ damage
why?? im not even holding the short sword at this point...

Should be 10- 11 second for collosal weapon and 3 sec for rapier/ smaller weapons.

Great weapon or collosal weapon enjoyer? Endure makes your weapons pointless. Have fun out there.

I used this before patch 1.07 and wrecked with it. Now it lasts 66% longer and bleed/cold procs don’t even stagger you.
Want an easy time in pve?
Power stanced clean rot knight swords. Rotten sword insignia, Millicent’s prosthesis, spear talisman, and whatever else.
I completely face tank bosses without rolling, prebuff golden vow and flames protection, physic, summon perfumer Tricia when entering boss room, get in bosses face, endure, L2 till dead. Reapply endure as needed.
No health potions needed. No dodging needed. Straight easy mode. Tricia keeps you bubbled and the boss just dies so fast.

The increased duration with patch 1.07 might make this the best skill in the game.

In DS3 this was probably the strongest weapon art for PvP. How different it is in ER? I haven't tried it myself yet but I don't really see anyone using it

Endure on a dagger when paired with a faith caster is so extremely busted in pvp, you can use it to secure casts of things like wog and unendurable frenzy for free, not to mention that you can backstab **** like the stormhawk axe thunderstorm and the ballsack hammer spinny. Very very underrated.

With the right setup and weapon you can make this viable in pvp. Currently using on my blood infused urumi with no poise on my character so i can have fun with a light load setup while also baiting poise monsters into the WA. Bull goats lose their brain once they see you’re next to naked (no poise) and expect to win out on the trade and stagger, completely ignoring me charging my R2 directly in their face. It hits twice, fairly quickly, and most times bull goats STILL don’t learn and will roll around you to keep pressure while looking for an opening. So charging the recovery R2 after landing the initial charged R2 is also a good option. Sorry for long post, just couldn’t believe nobody has left 1 positive comment about this WA. It can be good and provides utility that no other WA can.

You should know by now, that everything good in DS3 is bad in Elden Ring.

I may be wrong but perseverance from DS3 can be used faster after hitstun then dodge roll. But this version can not. Every time i try cancel hit stun to L2 i get punished. That's disappointed.
- Anonymous
So I pair this with mace for obvious reasons. Tanks roll in behind my spells to punish me but don’t expect to get yanked by an astrologer. Same for pve. Regen means damage doesn’t really matter if I’m not wreck less.

As of today, patch 1.04, endure works on a weapon that you don't meet the stat requirements for. You still get the damage negation and the poise.
- Anonymous
What weapon would you recommend i put endure on for testing with my battle mage? I saw someone suggest a dagger, but no reason why was given. Does anyone know why a dagger specifically would be good?
- Anonymous
Seems to be working now. Was just doing some duels with dual long swords with this equipped and it was doing work.
- Anonymous
This move is weirdly inconsistent. Sometimes it lets me poise through hits from a colossal weapon yet sometimes I'll still get staggered by a katana.
- Anonymous
I love this skill on my fists, allows you to momentarily tank things that would normally knock you onto the ground and keep chipping away at bosses' health.
All while maintaining your fashion souls.
Does a skill like this exist in other souls games?

- Anonymous
Now that it's fixed, it's a must have skill for mages in PVP, keep it on a secondary weapon like a dagger and use it before casting a spell.

Still bugged as of 3/19,
No poise increase seen whatsoever after activating, despite poise being present when activating prior to the 3/17 patch.
Completely negates the ash and ruins it, cannot trade because you will be staggered. Damage absorption still there but you're still staggerable. Tested it out and no matter when you use it (i.e. right before an enemy hits), you cannot trade at all.
Useless in its current state.
Until another patch, avoid using this ash of war.

This was good.. Now it sucks :/ Not sure if unintentional or intentional nerf

Endure does not seem to do what it did prior to the patch 1.03 (17thMarch)
Noticed after a couple invasions and tested on hollows after. Cannot even finish the animation of the AoW when getting hit.
- Anonymous
Currently bugged from the new patch, before I could withstand a hit from a giant mid animation, now I get staggered out of it from a simple dagger stab.
- Anonymous
the 3/17/2022 patch seems to have removed the infinite poise....idk if there is some level of poise multiplying...but my naked character is now gettin stunned by EVERYTHING during endure
- Anonymous
This is actually kind of good. Just endure in to a Max charge r2. If enemy isn't dead it'll probably stagger, r2 again. Very good with the heavy pickaxe. Endure lasts just long enough to pull r2 Max charge.

If you are struggling with any of the annoying chariots in Hero graves, you can use Endure to tank right through it.
Make sure you have enough HP and are facing the chariot when it hits.

isn't channeled, has animation that restricts movement and is short (like 1ish second), boosts deffensive stats wich lingers for very short duration, feels like 4 seconds total. It is just about short enough to cast it, open up menu and see your deffensive stats lose their buff. If either of you can verify the values of poise it gives I would like to see it as for it has to be within the initial duration of casting, lingering deffensive stats buff does show up on menu, while poise bonus doesn't. is extremely cheap in means of FP cost. Overall, I see the point of this is if you have stamina to roll, maybe there is a way to boost it, but I fail to see how something as short would be useful over iframes from roling.

“Damage taken while using this skill is reduced” does that mean when you are casting the skill or when the buff is active??

If you told me 6 yrs ago that you could put perseverance on almost any weapon AND buff it I’d think you were on crack
It's hard to believe the same creators of the bloodhound's step shortened the duration of endure.
