For anyone wondering this deals more damage with a magic infusion and I have no idea why but this also deals way more damage on the claymore than on then iron greatsword

Wear a full set of Scale armor, boost your health and bait pvp invaders into getting close and personal. let them think they can knock you out of the hyper armor before you bring the truth crashing right on their heads.

        • Anonymous

Slap it on a greatsword. Charged R2s until stance break. Instead of going for the crit, swing this 20ft blue monster at ‘em! Stupid fun.

          • Anonymous

Hmm, I was just thinking, would it it be possible to put this on str affinity and then buffing the weapon with scholars armament or royal knights resolve. Would this buff the wa too or only it´s regular attacks?
Haven´t tried this yet but I can imagine crazy damage if this works.

Could use a FP cost decrease. It is decently balanced with Carian Greatsword Ash in terms of charge speed and damage output (Carian Grandeur charges faster, but deals less damage outside of max charge), but the FP cost difference is too big and might be toned down.

I combo this skill with glintblade phalanx for easy stance break but only useable on bosses with slow recovery time from stance break.

Why tf doesn’t this have hyper armor? Makes zero sense considering how slow the wind up is and it cost 26 ****ing Fp. You can get slapped out of the wind up if you have lower than 60 poise for most attacks. It’s just ridiculous considering how cool this ash is and the potential is has. The fully charged attack is so freaking niche it’s stupid. You can only really pull it off if a boss’ stance is broken or in co op someone has aggro. Rather From just nerf the poise damage, raise the fp cost, freaking ANYTHING to give this cool ass ash hyper armor. Or at the very least lower the fp cost….

Does anyone know if its damage scales from Int, or by total weapon damage? E.g. if you put this on a Brick Hammer, could you use the STR scaling alone to do damage?

                    • Anonymous

If this scales with weapon upgrade level and int scaling, then it should do more damage on a weapon with high int scaling like the longsword or shortsword or Rogiers rapier, but wich one would be the best?

This skill may be situational compared to other options, but it's one of the most fun by far. Getting the full charge and seeing it do like 2000 damage and send enemies flying is amazing. It can also knock enemies down even uncharged, which is pretty useful albeit a bit FP inefficient. Recommend to pair with the Godfrey icon.

I feel like this article is wrong about the poise damage. When fully charged, a single hit stance-broke the trolls in Limgrave. In contrast, it took two hits with the Falling-Star Beast Jaw's skill to stance break them and that does 33 poise damage according to the wiki. Maybe this skill's poise damage was increased with a patch and the article is outdated?

Basically it's like a slower-casting (when fully charged) shorter-range single-target Flame of the Redmanes that does significantly higher damage and is magic. It can be applied to all non-colossal swords and daggers, so probably makes the most sense on the Misericorde for the follow-up critical.

Redmanes is probably better for strength but this is better for dexterity-based builds since they often lack poise damage otherwise. Note that intelligence has no effect on the poise damage, and since this is a skill there's no int requirement, so any dexterity build can make good use of it.

Carian Grandeur damage & (attack power):
                            2724 - Misericorde +25 (277)
                            2724 - Short Sword +25 (578)
                            2630 - Short Sword +24 (560)*
                            2630 - Cane Sword +24 (500)
                            2278 - Carian Knight Sword +9 (553)

                            Backstab:
                            1893 - Misericorde +25 (277)

*Attack power of 560 for Short Sword +24 was calculated by adding values manually, which sometimes differs from the attack power in Character Status. This is perhaps due to rounding. Since I upgraded from +24 to +25, I no longer have a way to see the Character Status attack power of Short Sword +24.

**Attack power values are while two-handing. I only have 8 STR. It was the only way to get comparable numbers for the Carian Knight Sword.

It's hard to time it, but good at breaking poise; can flinch the cool, lion guys, even when not completely charged. At the very least, that's what happened when I used it against the one in Leyndell.

                                • I heard from a friend that if you use this, then immediately un equip the weapon that it's on from the menu, you will lose your hitbox and become invincible. But you can be killed by Unescapable Frenzy and Lifesteal Fist. Not sure if this is true but it might be worth testing.

After the buff, this is my new favorite PvE spell. It's definitely one of the most damaging ashes of war in the game, and it looks ****ing sick.

First, apply sleep to a boss/enemy via Sleep Pots, a bow with sleep arrows or the Pulley Crossbow with sleepbone bolts.
And then ladies and gentlemen, raise your sword, cHarge, ChArGe, CHARGE AND THEN SMASH!!!!!11

Does bonkers damage when fully charged and with the relevant talismans, but it's a slow ability and too easy to interrupt.

                                            • This skill is a lifesaver. It carries massive damage to poise/knockdown, and easily allows stunlocking enemies that you have no business stunlocking. Get the timing down right and it's extremely easy to chain through your entire FP bar without the enemy getting any real chance to attack. Plus, staggers are inevitable, which means more criticals, which means free time to charge the next Grandeur while they get back up.

This skill really needs hyperarmor to be more useable, at least when fully charging. Anything can interrupt you literally at the last moment.

Honestly, this would be a lot better if it cost less for the uncharged/partially charged versions. The FP/Damage ratio on anything less than a full charge is pretty bad, but the full charge is way too slow to pull off against anything that's not already staggered.
