Fought Loretta's ghost with it, constant stance breaking. It also aims for the head no matter the enemy type?

obliterates trolls. My first playthrough back when I sucked at this game used this all the way through. I love it.

        • Anonymous

Been using this with an Occult Banished Knight's Halberd + Occult Misericorde for easy staggering and crits, works so much nicer than other stance-breaking crit builds because you don't need an awkward AoW or a strength weapon that splits your levelling

Have this on my dragon hunting build. Does good damage, fp efficient, isnt slow, and has surprising range and slight homing! Great for hitting dragons in the face and keeping stance pressure up, or getting that final hit when it's down to the wire.

            • Anonymous

Absolutely amazing AoW but it's a real shame it doesn't take on the appearance of the weapon you're using.

Where does the 5x weapon poise number come from? I tested this dozens of times on the Omen at Underground Roadside with a spear (cross naginata) and a great spear (lance) and both staggered them with two hits if the first was a surprise and the second was a head shot, but otherwise it took 3. I got the same results with both against Banished Knight's in Faram Azula ad well. A 5x weapon class poise
damage multiplier should make an obvious difference in how many hits it takes to stagger something, shouldn't it?

                • Anonymous

I made a legionnaire build with this skill on a short spear, regalia of eochaid, and a great shield in the L hand. Stagger them with the “javelin” then hit them with the regalia wa. It’s surprisingly effective

I love this ash. Nothing better than staggering vulgar militia via a pointy stick to the face, then chopping em down :)

What type of damage does the spectral lance do? When Lhutel uses this according to her wiki it procs deathblight. A status effect that the vast majority of enemies that are immune to in the first place.

*Acts like an arrow, does backstab damage, can headshot targets and will scale with any physical increase buffs,
*its good for poise breaking targets that have low to medium poise, can be aimed to targets with a lot of practice
*Also it will distract mobs as any spell or arrow would, allowing its use to move mobs and breaking line of sight
                        *1.2 seconds casting time almost
*Scales linearly with weapon upgrades and damage and anything that increases the damage done DIRECTLY by the weapon itself should increase the damage done by the lance, overall it is good, but requires investment but it certainly is a low cost projectile that has damn good tracking, its quick, versatile and deals decent damage
*I'd recommend trying it on a slow but heavy damage weapon, it will probably scale best *has to be tested* -if anyone can test repply here-

Fair and balanced ranged punish for PvP that doesn't come out instantly or have insane spamability like beast roar or thunderbolt. Way more satisfying to land than the two I've mentioned purely because of the fact it can land headshots and also deals pierce damage. Basically the follower javelin skill but much better since you can put it on more damaging weapon now, DS3 enjoyers rejoice!

What I noticed: Arrow's Reach Talisman -> Increases the effective range of bows.
Maybe this AoW/the spectral lance as a weapon is equated like a bow and because of this the Arrow's Sting Talisman (-> Raises attack power of arrows and bolts) doesn't have any influence.
So it's like we are hitting someone with a pure bow, but not with a bolt/arrow/etc.
In my opinion this should be fixed or be reversed with the talismans.

                            • Anonymous

With 43 Arcane it does about >400 damage against Radagon (Talismans: Shard of Alexander, Marika's Soreseal, Old Lord's Talisman, Arrow's Reach Talisman; Spells: Golden Vow).
Didn't use Ritual Sword Talisman, because if you get hit (even 1 damage) the Talisman is useless. For this reason I use Old Lord + Golden Vow.
You could also use Flame, Grant Me Strength, but Spectral Lance takes 3 seconds to cast and SL has a better "FP efficiency" without spells (exception: Bloodboil Aromatic 30 %/21 FP or Exalted Flesh 20 %/0 FP -> but both are limited because of Arteria Leaf! -> Would never use it online, because of this massive network problems and weak hosts).
One possibility could be Black Flame Blade + Old Lord's Talisman (7 to 9 seconds; 3 shots).

                                Seems like they changed something???
In 1.05 +1 Arcane gave you +2 Damage.
In 1.06 +1 Arcane gives you +3,3 Damage.

Can somebody confirm this (maybe low-level Arcane)?

                                • Anonymous

"Deals 5x the Poise Damage of the weapon on hit, allowing the user to stagger enemies from quite far away." -> not correct. I tested it on the troll at the grace near Godrick. With the short spear, halberd, nightrider glaive, gargoyle halberd and pike I had to throw it 3 times, till the troll fell to ground.

                                    Spectral Lance <3
After discovering the advantages of this skill, the game makes much more fun. Now I invest also in Arcane and this makes me able also to use the dragon incantations. My character became much more diverse. Beforce: Only melee -> Greatshield and Halberd; Now: the same+range+some low-level incantations.
I struggled before with some enemies, but now they become easier (but not in an OP style).
Arrow's Reach Talisman + Shard of Alexander + Ritual Sword Talisman + Halberd+25 = Amore

                                    • Things to note:

It has significant damage falloff at long range, which is mitigated to a pretty significant extent by the Arrow's Reach talisman, which also increases its speed. This could indicate that the falloff is based on projectile lifetime, rather than distance travelled.

It does not inherit bleeding or poison from the weapon.

Similar range to a shortbow when locked on, though it arcs for its whole path, rather than traveling straight until its 'range' stat has been reached.

Actual range is essentially unlimited, as long as you take its arc into consideration. This means that there is a maximum range at every elevation difference. As such, I cannot determine maximum falloff.

The throw goes slightly upward to compensate somewhat for the arc.

It might just be me but I couldn't work out where it was by this description. What site of grace is it near? In what direction? Again could just be me but the only courtyard I could think of was that one near the Debate Parlor and I'm pretty sure it wasn't there

                                        • Anonymous

Deals a ton of poise damage. Two spears in a row will stance break an Omen in Shunning Grounds - that's pretty much a Brick Hammer. Unfortunately it has a big arc so unless you free-aim it requires close-medium range for lock-on to hit. It also has a very long recovery time. They should buff it by removing the recovery time and make the trajectory lower. It's very fun to use tossing it at the Fire Giant when summoned at the Fire Giant's Forge.

This skill doesn't scale with arcane but rather with strength and dexterity. The best infusion for the best output damage is "quality".

                                            • Anonymous

Wildly inconsistent damage. On an unupgraded spear I'm hitting anywhere between 40 and 109 on the goats outside the Church of Elleh. I don't think it scales with arcane either but it's hard to determine because the damage is all over the place. Very disappointed so far.

                                              • Anonymous

This is really effective at punishing flame arc spam and other meme ashes of war. Will score counter hits too. It’s not too great at roll catching but it’s satisfying when it does.

                                                • Anonymous

It has possibly the worst tracking ive ever seen in a fromsoft game. if the enemy is even slightly moving it will miss and even enemies swinging their weapon will almost always move them out of the way. If someone is using this against you in pvp dont even bother rolling just run towards them and attack.

                                                  • Anonymous

Really solid skill, does a decent amount of poise damage and can knock certain bosses down over and over again. Also benefits from spear counterattack bonus and the spear talisman.

                                                    • Anonymous

Pretty good skill to quickly take out archers. Low fp cost and quick animation. Very underrated in my opinion.
