Remove lock-on and this thing is quite a big shot. If you use the first dash to retreat you can still hit what was behind you with ease and even follow up if the latency gods are feeling on the mood.

It should perhaps be mentioned that this skill seems to dispel your weapon buff, even if the buff was Bloodflame. This makes it significantly less attractive than other skills when min-maxing.

The hyper armor on this is kind of crazy. I have an 89 poise build that tanks through colossals, Stormcaller, Blind Spot, you name it for both L2s consecutively. Aside from poising through nearly everything this is such a great skill for mixups with the already good CGS moveset, as the explosion (if not the hit itself) from the first use often catches people who dodge an R1 or running R1. Kinda expensive, but I think it's justified and it works great on a fth/arcane setup with some extra mind and an offhand seal.

so whats the lore reason behind morgott having bloodflame? did he learn it from mohg? itd make sense he only pulls it out when close to death from a foul tarnished if so.
I've spent a couple hours in testing some things looking at the actual values in memory and would like to share some conclusions. These conclusions are for PvE:
1. Both the weapon and the explosion deal separate stance damage, and bloodloss build up.
2. The bloodloss buildup from the explosion seems to scale with Arcane and mildly with weapon level.
At +0 with 7/45/99 Arcane, I am observing ~25/50/60 bloodloss buildup respectively. This is just the explosion part of the AoW.
At +10 with 7/45/99 Arcane, I am observing ~25/60/70 bloodloss buildup respectively. Again, just the explosion part of the AoW.
The stance damage breakdown is as follows:
1st attack
Explosion = 8 stance damage
Weapon hit = 10.12 stance damage
Optional followup
Explosion = 8 stance damage
Weapon hit = 13.2 stance damage.
So combining everything together, with a +10 weapon and 45 Arcane, the AoW (including the follow-up) is gonna cost you 40fp and do 39.32 stance damage, and ~288 bleed buildup. Plus the damage obviously.

Remember the baller asf flaming slices from Lady Maria or Abyss Watcher? We can finally do that now

Do the slashes from the sword hit separately from the fire slashes following? if so does that mean physical damage buffs apply to the ash of war along with fire damage buffs?

This one's pretty tricky to counter but I think I figured it out! When you see someone do this you run away and hope they don't do it again, repeat until they either swap or do anything else. Hope this helps!

This just leaves RoB in shame. Two quick slices with decent bleed on their own + bloodflame explosion that they will fall into, even if they interrupt you. In fact, trying to interrupt this weapon skill just jails them into another one

Should of added a flat fire damage buff to the weapons AR after using the AOW

Does this AOW do additional blood build up to a normal R1/R2 attack? It says no gradual bleed build up but I'm curious to know if it has an increased bleed amount?

Do the slashes themselves deal fire damage, or is it just the explosions?

Love this Weapon Art. Love the weapon. So much fun to use. 10/10

How im i supposed to dodge this? No matter what i do i always seem to get caught in either the attack or the explosion way out of the visual range.

The bleed from this seems to increase a lot with arcane level, but the fire damage seems to be based only on weapon level.

I really like the sword and this weapon art. It's very good for dealing with multiple enemies that are closing in to try and surround then stun-lock you to your death, like the white wolves around Liurnia. It is also a surprisingly good sword to use with the curved sword talisman for guard counters. That's my go-to for easily dealing with the night's cavalry and this at +9 is shredding them in NG+ much more effectively than a flame art infused +25 Lordsworn's greatsword was in my first playthrough.

Doesn’t do as much damage as I hoped, bleed curved swords (bandit or scavengers) with seppuku still better

Does the skill scale with arcane, dex or overall damage the weapon does?

Does somebody have the exact values on how much poise damage, as well as bleed does this AoW inflict on top of its innate bleed? Is the bleed buildup of the AoW specifically affected by the arcane stat, weapon's total AR or a constant number, like Bloodflame Blade? Trying to compare it to the Bloodblade Dance AoW.

Wearing briars gear will deal damage to enemies as you do the forward lunge just before the slice it doesnt work with other abilities that have a forward lunge but does for this one for some reason

How much poise does this have? It feels like there's none. Is it just your poise? Because I'm getting staggered out of this animation by a single thrust.

Way too overpowered in pvp, this is literally worse than Bloodhound’s Step and ROB idc.

Hitting any of this is a true combo, it's much harder to hit than, say, RoB, since this one has a tell and a grace period for the target to panic roll, but getting hit is about the same level of devastating. Powerful but fair in PvP. Also bleed for PvE I guess.

Such a goddamn shame this is locked behind such a crap sword. Seriously post nerf RoB does more damage at the 50/50 dex/arc and weighs less and is more annoying to deal with. What was from thinking here?
