Flaming Strike

flaming strike
Skill that emits flame in a wide frontward arc. Follow up with a strong attack to perform a lunging, sweeping strike. This will also coat the armament in fire.

Flaming Strike is a Skill in Elden Ring. Flaming Strike is a regular skill that can be found in Ashes of War that can be used on many melee armaments. Updated to Patch 1.08

How to get Flaming Strike

  • Redmane Castle, dropped by a Teardrop Scarab in a small graveyard along the south cliffside behind the castle. From the front gate, hug right along the cliff towards the ballista, going up and past the vampire bats. There will be a small gap in the cliff that must be jumped across to get to the graveyard.

Elden Ring Flaming Strike Guide, Notes & Tips

  • This is an Ash of War Skill, associated with the Ash of War: Flaming Strike.
  • FP Cost: 4 on use, 10 on follow up.
    • This totals to a 14 FP cost.
  • Deals 15 stance damage
  • This Skill is not Chargeable
  • This Skill's second attack can be Parried
  • Upon activation, the user spreads flames with their left hand in front of them.
    • Inputting the strong attack button allows a follow up, where the user swings his armament (weapon) from left to right and coats it in fire. This counts as a weapon buff.
    • The buff lasts 40 seconds, and adds 90 flat fire damage to the weapon.

  • The weapon buff from the follow up can be applied regardless of the affinity of the weapon.
  • If used without FP:
    • No flames come out. However, some lesser enemies can still be staggered if hit by your left hand.
    • Follow up does not coat weapon in fire.
    • Follow up slash deals reduced damage.

NOTE: This Skill was changed with Patch 1.07 as follows:

  • Duration has been increased from 20 to 40 seconds.
  • Attack power that grants the weapon a fire attribute has been increased from 65 to 90.
  • Delay between the end of various actions (like using items or attack animations) and being able to perform the skill has been reduced.

NOTE: As of Patch 1.08, hitbox duration of the flame portion of the Flaming Strike Weapon Art has been reduced.

really good. get this and any greatsword, infuse with fire and you are pretty much set for early to mid game.

Since Spectral Lance scale with Arcane no matter what affinity you put on the weapon, does this mean that Flaming Strike will scale with Strength even if you use the Flame affinity?

        • Anonymous

I think strong attack range is the same for every weapon, I'm not 100% sure but I tested with a katar and a nagakiba and still didn't see a difference. The reason I tested with a katar is because I'm planning on using this on it, hehe

          • Even outside of the damage of the skill itself, this is amazing for Flame Art and Fire affinity weapons; mainly because it's 90 extra fire damage on weapons that can't otherwise be buffed or enchanted. Flame Art is great for for both PvP and PvE, but especially PvE because it opens up all the Faith buffs like Golden Vow, Blessing's Boon, and Flame Grant Me Strength also. The 90 flat fire is basically equivalent to Electrify Armament (but fire) with a 120 Incant Scaling seal, which isn't that high of Incant Scaling, but once again, buffs on unbuffable weapons are always top-notch, especially for faster weapons. At 50 Faith and min reqs otherwise, a Flame Art Bandit's Curved Sword gets 726 AR when buffed with this Ash of War, which is nuts considering that's not including and buffs except the Ash itself. Golden Vow + FGMS will push it to just over 1k AR.

How to spot a no brain player that gets all his strats from youtube or twitch:

              1. Flaming strike spammer
              2. Dual lance user with scaled armor
              3. Dual spears with bhs
              4. Sleep crossbow or halberd
              5. Death Ritual Spear spammer

Probably missing some but these are the most noticeable

So what you're saying is I get to slap some fools if I don't have enough FP.

2bh even after the nerf, it's still pretty easy to use. I am no pvp player and I can roll catch with this AoW easily when I can't with 10 other ash of war i have used, on the same person that dodged my pokes, spells and consumables. The ability to delay the followup for a considerable amount of time and still do the swipe is what makes this op.

Easily one of the best ashes of war. Decent damage and great spread even without the follow up. With the follow up its great damage + a great damage buff. Without the follow up neglible fp use and quick animation to get a little greedy when you punish. There are some really cool/great ashes but I love the simplicity and efficiency

                    • Why on the midde-earth each and any thing on the wiki remotely usable in PvP I come to read about, comment section screams about how annoying are gazillions of people spamming it? Like really, anything except armor is 'please nerf, stupid no-skill people in hordes are spamming it'. If everything is so strong, I guess the game is balanced )

                      • Anonymous

Needs an FP cost increase. Pretty fed up with G9 clones mindlessly spamming this until they get the lucky R2. No its not as annoying as pre nerf Glinstone pebble but yeah they overbuffed this. Ashes as strong as this should be punishable in some manner. You cant punish someone for using this unless you have endure (dont get me started on that) or some ranged weapon. Try & giant hunt in response & a tiny flame particle will interrupt you so he can r2 (even if your at the new poise threshold). Try & circle or roll around it & you will get hit anyways. Try & block, he will just spam it until you get clipped or guardbroken.

One of the coolest ashes of war. Cheap cost, fast swing, nice aoe coverage, good damage, can be slapped on nearly any weapon.

                          • Anonymous

This is of course the weakest of the stunlock combo ashes of war. In pvp anyways. Still viable, still deadly but not necessarily the best pick for every scenario.

This is very strong skill. No idea why it costs so little fp. The flame staggers foes nicely and the slash is powerful. The buff is a nice bonus and lasts for surprisingly long time.
