How to get Thundercloud Form in Elden Ring

Elden Ring Thundercloud Form Guide, Notes & Tips

  • This is a Unique Skill
  • FP Cost: 28
  • Deals 6 stance damage per tick while in cloud form, and the final hit deals either 11 poise damage if uncharged or 33 if charged. Up to 69 stance damage if the entire charged-attack chain hits.
  • This Skill is Chargeable
  • This Skill cannot be Parried
  • For some reason, if the Mimic Tear uses this skill, it never uses the charged version.
  • Note: This Skill was changed with Patch 1.07 as follows: Directional control has been increased.

Thundercloud Form PVP Tips and How to Dodge It

  • You can dodge the uncharged version by going backwards to avoid the cloud damage and jumping to avoid the plunge. You can then follow up with a jumping attack to punish. No rolling or sprinting is necessary. (Testing needed to see if charged version can be dodged in the same or similar way.)

    • Hey everyone, I just added an oversight about the Mimic Tear using this skill and how to dodge this skill. The Mimic Tear never uses the charged version of this skill for some reason. Also, I added changes to the Mimic Tear wiki page. Make sure you go to that page to see them. I promise to you it will be worth it!

Are you invulnerable and/or have hyperarmour while in the 'thundercloud' part? Or at least, can you dodge shockwave like ground attacks with this?

Ok so after some testing today:
Godfrey icon does NOT affect damage.
Axe Talisman does NOT affect damage.
Any of the repeated hits talismans do NOT affect damage.

I've been testing this and I do NOT think that the damage of this skill is increased by Godfrey's Icon. I tried it against the giant near Secluded Cell and the omen by Underground Roadside, bot when hitting with just the final plunge and hitting with every tick, and the damage does not change. Has anyone else ever actually tested it?

I am not a fan of heavy thrusting swords, so I dont use the cragblade much. And people have pointed out that since you don't get it until the very late game its use against major bosses your first playthrough is limited. But this skill is extremely effective against Maliketh, in particular. So much so that I felt the need to comment on it. I was having so much trouble with him in NG+3 with my no-spells quality build until I decided to give this a shot, and thundercloud form alone ground him into the dirt on my first try with it. Slap on the Shard of Alexander and you're good to go. If your build has any other buffs to add you're gonna have an even easier time.

it do multi hit. the question is, how much stance dam each hit deal?
-if i do full multi hit on godfrey, 2 of this skill will break him.
-but if i only hit him with last hit, then I need this skill 3 time to break him.
all case I do full charge. not sure full charge will affect dam/stance dam or not. that another quetion.

also break boss feel so cool.

Just in case no one mentioned this, it seems like you can use this ash to survive some falls that would normally kill you (huge ones, i.e. from the top of Ranni’s rise, will still cause you to die). You just have to activate it at a ledge and direct the cloud downward. Might be because fall distance only starts when you come out of the cloud form.

just accidentally discovered how much stance damage this thing does and then pretended that was my plan all along

by far biggest meme weapon art in the game, lol. Tho if you hit just right - it can 1 shot, but still meme.

A couple of things I don't see here. Hyper armour aside, the putrid corpses that infest a beach at weeping peninsula were able to grab me AFTER I had cast the AoW and transformed into the thundercloud. I don't know if this is because they had target locked me, or whatever the mob version is, before I had cast it or if they can grab you regardless.
Also, if you cast this AoW up close to a large enemy, like the giant octopus, it isn't one hit.
The octopus prevents the thundercloud moving forward so gets hit multiple times pretty quickly and each hit does damage. I don't know if this triggers rotten winged sword because I saw counter intuitive results when I had it equipped.

Best anti gank weapon imo. I’ve killed two people in one charged hit with this.

Changing targets mid cloud form is also kind of OP.

Also really poops on ROB if you have good poise

Now, I know it says it’s a chargeable skill here, but I’ve also heard that Godfrey’s Icon does nothing for it; so is this talisman useful when charging the AoW?

                                The damage immunity seems random.

I'll he hitting with both magic and melee and they just randomly take damage using this aow.
Hate how inconsistent elden ring is

This skill seems to do insane damage with winged sword insignia and similar things vs. large enemies. Fully charging the skill at close range will have you hitting a big enemy several times in the air before the final attack since the thundercloud part of the attack actually has a hitbox, giving you the full successive attacks buff on the already crazy high damage final hit of a fully charged attack with this. I used this against Elden Beast and was able to do about 3000 damage with every skill usage with only 40 dex and rotten winged sword insignia. Literally made Elden Beast easier than Radagon on my first playthrough, beat it on my second try making it past Radagon.

If you can wield the weapon, this is great for chasing down people or gapclosing in PVP and during boss fights. Combine this with the hyper armor and high speeds, and you can even use this to escape fights.

this weapon art is absolute BALLER in pvp when you can land it LOL
if you using another weapon switch to this and track them
you're literally sending a warhead to their position

I've murdered countless hosts on accidet cause for one i didnt think it'd travel that far
                                      situational asf but its GOOD

Very good against the Great Jar knights. Get in their face, let the lightning stagger them, then slam them to the ground. Spammed it, and got through all three without getting hit.
