Poisonous Mist is a Skill in Elden Ring. Poisonous Mist is a regular skill that can be found in Ashes of War, this skill can also be used on certain melee armaments. Updated to Patch 1.07. Poisonous Mist has Poison Affinity and is usable on melee armaments (whips, fists, and claws excepted).
How to get Poisonous Mist in Elden Ring
- Can be acquired from the Ash of War: Poisonous Mist, which grants the poison affinity and Poisonous Mist Weapon Skill.
- Dropped by a teardrop scarab at the southwest section of the Aeonia Swamp in Caelid. Elden Ring Map Link.
- This teardrop scarab can teleport a short distance if the player gets too close. If available, apply appropiate measures to kill it from range.
Elden Ring Poisonous Mist Guide, Notes & Tips
- This is an Ash of War Skill, associated with the Ash of War: Poisonous Mist.
- FP Cost: 14 on use.
- Deals 12 stance damage
- This Skill is not Chargeable
- On input, coats the armament in poison while swinging out a green mist that slightly travels forward, and lingers for a short period of time.
- Both parts of the skill (swing + mist) apply poison buildup on enemies.
- The swing also deals damage if it connects.
- The mist applies 120 base poison buildup per tick and lasts for 2 seconds.
- The poison coat adds 60 base poison buildup to the armament (counts as a weapon buff), which lasts 40 seconds.
- Both the poison buildup of the mist and on the armament can be affected by the Arcane stat if the weapon has Arcane scaling.
- Note: This Skill was changed with Patch 1.07 as follows:
- Motion speed has been increased.
- Duration of the weapon's poison effect has been increased.

Set this to Bleed and this AoW is a Fire Giant delete button. Use this to proc poison in one cloud/aow use and hit him with bleed while the poison chips away; repeat. Yeah bleed is great on its own obviously, but I found this was a pretty perfect fit for that boss on a character who otherwise wasn't using bleed at all.

The poison applied by the cloud and weapon buff appears to be a unique poison effect, or at least different from the standard poison. From my testing it seems that it deals 8 damage per second and lasts for 40 seconds. I didn't test the addition damage that is based off the max HP but appears to likely be the same as standard poison (0.07% Max HP per second).

Be aware that this poison lasts much less than poison daggers for example

This thing is amazing in pvp encounters btw, slap it on a collosal sword and poison a gank squad all at once while also doing like 900 damage with the swing itself

It's not indicate but you do the same damage as the spell Poison Mist so you do 400 damages par poison proc with poisonous Mist

Can someone please put the stats for how much poison build-up the mist and the weapon coating add?

When used on the Great Stars, the heal effect triggers on every tick of poison build-up for each enemy in the mist (doesn't matter if they are poisoned or not, as long as they are touching the mist you get health back). Plus, a good way to buff your Great Stars if it is Occult; bypasses the inability to buff Occult weapons, and the poison buildup will scale with Arcane.

So to activate the element I need to use the weapon art right? It wont proc poison on its on if I activate the affinity on the weapon?

This skill is often slept on and when it's not it's often used incorrectly. Put this on an OCCULT weapon and it will boost the poison buildup like crazy. The point of using this is to proc mushroom crown, exultation of rot, and (now with the DLC) poison hand together for a 42% AR buff for 20 seconds. The short poison damage timer works in your favour this way; more poison procs = more weapon damage. This is effective on some bosses, but amazing in PVP as people don't seem to get that healing the poison is exactly what you're counting on since it always reprocs in 2 or 3 hits. I put this on an occult Carian Thrusting Shield and the damage while buffed was crazy. I also put it on an occult Vulgar Militia Saw and you get high bleed and poison buildup.
