Black Knife Assassin Fight Strategy
The Best Tips for Black Knife Assassin:
- Use the Lone Wolves Ashes Summon
- Glintstone Phalanx is great against this boss
Melee Users
The Black Knife Assassin is easily staggered, and the Lone Wolves Ashes can distract her and damage her a lot. This will leave you open to land some free hits on her. Otherwise, using a fast attacking weapon to keep her staggered is ideal, since she seems to have no Poise.
Best way to attack her is to wait for her to do the Overhead Slam, you will have a lot of time to backstab her after the slam. You can also try parrying her, but it is not really recommended as her attacks are swift and fast, and she also tends to move around the area a lot.
Magic and Ranged Users
Keep your distance and range her down. You can use Spirit Ashes to keep her distracted, but otherwise just roll and run away to keep separation. The Carian Greatsword Sorcery is a decent tool to use, due to its wide sweep, and staggers the Assassin on hit.
Black Knife Assassin Attacks & Counters

| Overhead Slam | An attack where she jumps in the air before slamming the dagger to the ground. | This is the attack you need to look out for, once you her jump in the air, get ready to dodge roll, you will have a lot of time to get behind her and backstab to deal crit damage. |
| Spinning Slice | An attack where she drags the dagger across the floor and spins around twice before fully committing into attacking you. | You can either block the full attack or dodge roll away once you see her place the dagger to the ground. |
| Blade of Death | This is her projectile attack where if you try to create some distance, she will shoot out a single red slash projectile towards you. This attack drains your health if it lands. | You can easily dodge roll through this attack. Once you see her charge up her dagger, get ready to dodge roll. |
| Grab | She lifts her left hand back and lunges forward. If the attack lands, she stabs the player in the back. | This attack comes out very quickly, usually after one of her dodges. |
| Forward Thrust Combo | Lunges forward closing the gap while thrusting the dagger, followed by swinging the dagger continuously. | After the thrust, you can either dodge roll away to avoid the follow-up attack, or block it completely. You can also try parrying the follow-up attack to get some crit damage in. |
| Leaping Blade + Critical Hit | When fighting on horseback, she may jump and use Blade of Death to knock the player off, before running over and stabbing them in the stomach. | Avoid the attack by either getting off Torrent, or by running to the side. |

- NPC Summons: D, Hunter of the Dead. First, meet D outside Summonwater Village and defeat the Tibia Mariner. Then speak with Gurranq Beast Clergyman and return to Roundtable Hold to speak with D once more to be able to use his summon.
ELDEN RING BLACK KNIFE ASSASSIN LOCATION
- Black Knife Catacombs: In the room with the guillotines, wait for one to fall to the floor then climb on top of it and ride it up. Walk off it to the platform with a skeleton archer and follow the hallway through the door as far as it goes. In the last room, attack the wall opposite the door to reveal the path to this boss.

BLACK KNIFE ASSASSIN COMBAT INFORMATION
- Health: 1965 HP
- Frostbite Resistance: 329
- Drops 9000 Runes, Concealing Veil
- This assassin is invisible, but can be revealed by carrying Sentry's Torch. Summoned spirits are also unaffected by her invisibility and can be used to poinpoint her location.
- If you don't have access to summons or the Sentry's Torch, she can still be defeated by looking for the dust clouds and water deformations she leaves behind as she moves around. When she charges you (again look for the dust clouds/water deformations), always stand your ground and time your attacks to land just before she reaches you. She will either be hit by your initial attacks or she will dodge by jumping backwards before immediately charging directly at you again, in which case simply attack again. She almost never retreats from this second charge so as long as you time your attacks correctly, damage is all but guaranteed. Each time she is hit, she will almost always retreat before charging at you again after a brief period of time. She will sometimes aggro on you continuously, it is best to avoid these by dodging away as much as possible until she loses aggro and charges you again.
