Golden Lion Shield is a Medium Shield in Elden Ring. It was added with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. The Golden Lion Shield is a Shield that scales primarily with Strength. Medium Shields feature a good balance between defense and weight, which is great for most situations in combat. Although it may not be as light as a Small Shield which is good for agility and parrying, the Standard Shield works best at reducing damage and blocking.

Shield made to resemble a fierce golden lion with a luxuriant mane.

Awarded to especially valorous members of Radahn's personal guard on the occasion of its formation.

Brass has higher boost at max, higher defense( except lightning) and infusable. But it has attacking aow, lower str and nice look.

The AOE the ash creates is actually big enough that I will purposefully use it against blind spot users so they wrap me around during my forward movement, thus missing me, while they are hit with the roar. And who says it counters shields!!

Roaring Bash obliterates guarding enemies in PVE, especially when paired with the Hammer Talisman. You can break through great shields and even the grafted goobers with the golden shield in one use.

This + sword of light + freyja set = the gladiator drip of my dreams, roaring bash combos well with straight sword move set. This shield is a godsend to sword and board enthusiasts.

I don't know why but I always like shield bash even tho it kinda sucks in pvp, and this is an upgrade to that. Pity it's on a medium shield so the damage is worse than on a greatshield. Also it costs quite a lot more stamina to use this aow compared to the regular shield bash.

What it does well however, is that it has significantly longer range, by producing a shockwave. The shockwave covers a decent area in a cone in front of you, and if only the shockwave hits it does about half the damage of a normal full hit. Still, it always applies the same amount of stagger.

So I definitely recommend this one if you like shield bashing, as it simply improves the functionality, most notably by preventing others from punishing you while you're locked in the animation towards the main target.

It's not really that bad. You can create some simple combos with it. Useful if you don't have a high poise break. It's like a better version of shield bash/kick. I haven't used shield bash much but it feels alright. It looks and feels like it gets extra range and it offers kind of a niche buffer. It transitions smooth into attack chains.

The shield itself has alright stats. It's very simple with 50 guard boost. The requirements are VERY lax needing just 1 strength. One of the better medium shields, but it's not really worth it if you don't want the skill it comes with

What’s particularly troublesome about the Elden Ring Questlines compared to other Fromsoftware titles is the translations are so bad in this for some reason that I had almost no idea what characters wanted from me when they would write me those notes.

                  • Is this buffed by the Roar Medallion/Highland Axe? I’ve always wanted to do a more aggressive axe and shield build with the Highland Axe and this seems like a perfect match if so. Thanks!

The numbers here are incorrect for upgrades.

                      At +10 it's B scaling.

Hits for about 800 in the dlc, that's on the low end but it's a medium shield so it's a decent blocking love tap.

Gotta hate how sensitive quests are, you talk to NPC's in the wrong order and you miss a whole quest. It's like Fromsoft wants people to spoil themselves and look up guides before experiencing the game organically. This design especially doesn't work for Elden Ring because of the open world nature, legit missed this because I gave the scroll to the guy before talking to Freja.

Yes, it is missable. You need the letter from Ansbach, and if you never tell him about Freyja before progressing his questline he disappears without the letter.

You can miss this if you do not come back to freyja after receiving the letter, I came back to this after figuring out this existed and instead found freyja gone and left her set at the seventh floor grace
