I can't seem to get the winged sword or millicent prothesis to trigger when using the charge forth on this. I'll run it twice at an enemy and no dice.

Wish we had more tridents. Trying to do a gladiator-themed build and my choices are either this or Mohgspear, and I'd use this all day every day for the looks, if the Ash could be changed. Locking somber weapons with generic ashes was a huge miss IMO - only makes sense if you have a weapon that would be busted OP otherwise and this is most certainly not that. It's unlikely, but I hope From takes a second look at these sorts of weapons after the DLC is out.

I'm doing a dex/fth build and trying to use weird weapons I don't often use, and this one was the latest to enter my rotation. most split stat builds end up with far more somber weapons than good 'standard' weapon options, ive found. anyway, even with godfrey icon and innate bleed, charge forth is just so bad... the girandole is fine as a direct damage weapon, but it is short for a spear, and single spears are not exactly stellar. a flame art spiked spear or naginata would probably be better, even though the dex would be contributing very little

          • Anonymous

I only got this weapon in my 4th NG+ run, after killing Patches in all of the previous 3 runs (LOL). The Abductor Virgin duo boss battle was clearly meant to be a low level battle, even when I solo'd them it was easy, offering only 30,000 runes. Lightning Spear is my go-to for these enemies. I instantly loved the Inquisitor's Girandole though, for the stun-lock + bleed

            • Anonymous

Such an epic weapon but limited to charge forth skill, we could at least have gotten a fire version of it (like dragon Halberd has special spinning slash)

              • Anonymous

It would make more sense to me if unique weapons had a unique aow, in that case it would make sense why you can't change that aow. But why does a unique weapon have ordinary boring charge forth that cannot be changed I don't understand.

                • Anonymous

if this thing had a unique weapon art (maybe one that causes the candles to shoot forth a stream of fire or something like that), it would probably be my favourite weapon in the game. current one is pretty bland, but at least it works with Godfrey Icon ig

                  • Anonymous

Seems to have a slightly stronger dex scaling then strength (even when two handed)
RL 137 Can get an Ar of 707 with 30 str, 39 dex, and 50 faith (and 60 in vigor)
This also easily gives you access to flame grant me strength which scales both the physical and flame portion of the weapon, potentially making this the highest AR spear in the game (even with split scaling)
Pretty nice as well since a lot of the pve games enemies are weak to fire.
Id say its worth trying out for pvp and pve

"Easily reachable once you have the Temple of Eiglay Grace"
that was a lie I have tried going every possible path from that site

                      • Anonymous

Would be nice if it's weapon art was unique like the dragon halberds is. Instead of the weapon art being just a regular charge forth it could spray flames at the end, cause a small explosion, something at least.

I play a Faith/Strength/Dexterity build named the Profane Crusader. The role-play idea is that he's a fallen Gelmir Knight (I use the set) that went mad and succumbed to the frenzy flame. I use 2 flame of frenzy seals and keep Gurranq's boulder incantation on deck when flame won't cut it and I need something cheap and spamable.

In my main hand I've got the Blasphemous Blade and in my off-hand I hold this spear and two-hand it with the Blade sheathed so I keep healing. This adds nice reach and it's nice to have a source of piercing and bleed damage with a more martial ash of war. If I need massive healing I just bust out Takers flame.

Talismans I've got the dragon greatshield, fire scorpion, Alexander's shard, and the Ritual Sword Talisman with Godfrey's great rune.

Crazy good against melania, especially in a faith build where you dont have much to get around her holy resistance

The ash of war basically stunlocks her in phase 1 and quickly builds up bleed xD

                            • Anonymous

On the long arduous journey of finding a rare crimson fire monk armor while burning them at the stake with this thing, here’s my take on the ash: charge forth fits so well. Its possible to not only successfully hit 4 times in a charge forth (helping its bleed) but you get cracked movement when you use it at the right times (say, backpedaling, or as a counter attack against a charging enemy) cuz no matter your stamina or your fp actually (lol) u get a free running poke that seems to do quite a bit of poise damage, often sending them ass over tea pot

Hmm. This weapon could use infusions to drop the faith scaling and to change the ash of war, I find curious that it doesn't have a unique ash of war and is unchangeable few weapons share this.

                                • Anonymous

This weapon is possibly bugged! Not being able to use Ashes of War on this weapon makes no sense. Also, the “Charge Forth” ash of war that this weapon has by default uses unbelievable amounts of stamina! Possibly one of the highest stamina uses I’ve seen from an AoW, using up about 65-75% of your stamina to use this AoW once.

I hope the devs look at this weapon and fix it…so I can actually be viable as a pitchfork wielding demon.

Powerstancing the Inquisitor's Girandole and a Flame Art Cross-Naginata is absolutely nuts. I got the basic idea from Youwy on YT to give credit but have been using the Black Flame Tornado weapon art (kills Farum banished knights in one WA) and more of a heavily skewed 80 Faith build (both weapons have Bs in Faith, so you can go high into Erdtree Seal range without giving up too much in AR; still around 641/ 680 respectively) to destroy everything yet still have really high incantation boost (353) and a wide variety of casts. This is attainable in your initial run completely solo without a need for anyone to drop anything for you. Also, my stats still work reasonably well for Inseparable Sword, Blasphemous Blade, Coded Sword, or Envoy's Longhorn.

I’m surprised nobody has mentioned this but I believe if you kill patches at the beginning of the game when he surrenders, this boss fight is locked. The area where the fog gate should be is covered with boulders. I had no clue about this area until after beating the final boss and I was able to access it both through Temple of Eiglay site of grace, as well as dropping down from the Schoolhouse Classroom site of grace and being killed *in the womb* of the virgin down there.

what is everyone using to get this from the duo iron virgin boss fight? I don't remember what sort of level I was at, which weapon upgrades or incantations I had available when I warped to the inquisition chamber. its the only time the lone wolves have ever let me down in a boss room. one had killed all three wolves in under a minute then both battered me. I've never found them the easiest enemies to deal with in the first place, so I've never been back. anyone have reliable and effective way to deal with these iron virgins?

I was trying to think of weapon combinations to beat Malenia, and saw this beauty in my inventory. This and a Cold Cross Naginata absolutely destroys her (40 faith/20 str/20dex). Vouch

This seems to go pretty decently as an offhand with the Ghiza wheel(since you wanna 1hand that anyway),and paired with the bloodsoaked set(and zamor leggings, cuz why not) it makes for a surpringly comfy setup.Atleast PVE,if you are going str/faith hybrid.

Powerstancing these are the most Op **** i’ve ever seen. They already do great dmg on their own but using two with Rotten/Winged Sword Insignia is insane. They do great dmg without buffs but with Golden Vow, Flame Grant Me Strength and 3 hits to gain a buff from Sword Insignia plus the combined bleed build up of 100 it’s absolutely mental. However stamina might be an issue.

Alternatively, Abductor Virgins can be reached from inside the Manor. From the Temple of Eiglay, walk down the front stairs (W), past the Fire Monk, and turn left. From there, follow the curved section of the broken edge to a corpse hanging over the side. Look down and you should see a rocky platform far below you. Carefully drop down to the ledge below, you will lose some health from the fall. From there, drop down a series of ledges to find the cave you would've started in if you were abducted.

This would be a really good weapon if it was a little longer. If I have to be that close to an enemy, I'd rather be slashing or swinging.

This should be your go-to weapon for Faith fire builds imo if you’re not doing full caster. And even if you are. Pair it with Giant’s Braid.

This is, in my opinion, the most slept on weapon in the game. I haven't read about anyone else using it but it has great base damage, the preferable moveset of a regular spear (4 part combos instead of 3 part combos for great spears), can be used behind any strong shield (and given its mediocre weapon skill, barricade shield is a great option). PLUS BLEED. The bleed raises the effective AR of the weapon against most all bosses and it already was no slouch.

Does anyone have scaling information for this weapon? Want to know if it’s quality/fth or str/fth to know if I can run it effectively.

                                                                    • Anonymous

Recently got it. At +4 it gets already C scaling in faith. I assume it will go at least to B at +10. Can be used like any spear from behind a shield. Can't be buffed and can't be infused with ashes of war. Needs somber smithing stones for upgrades.

                                                                      • Anonymous
