2nd Best Sorcery Scaling (behind Lusat's) between 56 and 63 INT. Over the next few INT levels after that, most other staffs surpass it. Only worth keeping if you're sticking to 60 int.

Thanks for creating this topic, and thanks to everyone who shared useful information. I have 2 of these, but am still using the Demi-Human's Queen Staff. It was the easiest to get early in the game, and was perfect for my characters initial high strength level, it is definitely an awesome staff for melee characters. I am just about done with Altus Plateau, my intelligence is up to 28 now and I have the first 2 smithing stone bell bearings. Methinks its time to try the Academy Glintstone Staff.

As what the other users already pointed out, this thing deserves easily the spot as the third best staff which you could ever put your hands in this game.

It may not offer the same fire power of Lusat Staff or the Regal Scepter, but taking in consideration how quickly you can get this baby, how much easy is to farm this staff and how much good the scaling is, it may be the absolute best ordinary staff this game has to offer.

During your own early game sessions between Limgrave and Liurnia, the Meteorite Staff will always outscale it.
But as soon as you reach Altus Plateau and have enough smithing stones for a +14 upgrade, you can even get rid of that wooden stick with that goofy aaah purple crystal.

This staff becomes very slightly better than the meteorite staff once upgraded +14, and the gap between the two increases with each upgrade until +25 (except for gravity sorceries)

I would say this staff is among top 3 for intelligence builds, and depending on the build could be the best one.

In terms of raw damage, Lusats is always going to be the best, at least until extremely high levels, where Prince of Death's staff will eventually outscale it. However, it has the drawback of consuming a lot more FP for each cast, meaning you will also need a lot of mind to use Lusat's

Regal Scepter is slightly weaker than Lusats, but does not consume additional FP, so it's considered to be the most practical endgame staff for high intelligence build. Do note, that Regal Scepter's scaling seems to be mostly backloaded, kinda like with Erdtree seal, meaning that it gets a lot of additional scaling from 60-80 intelligence.

Academy Glintstone staff has the best scaling up until 68 intelligence, where Regal Scepter finally catches up to it and starts surpassing it.

On short Academy Glintstone > 68 Intelligence

Lusat's only if you have high int and mind.

Quite easy to obtain early-game, and stays relevant until end-game. You can pretty much get this before even fighting Margit, just go around Stormveil, into Liurnia and kill Thops for the staff. In case you don't want to kill Thops though, Meteorite Staff is also obtainable around this stage, probably gives a better Spell Buff than the Academy Staff at lower enhancement levels, but can't be upgraded so is only useful until mid-game. You can then later get the Academy Staff from either doing Thops' quest-line or farming the enemies in Raya Lucaria.

From some testing, I do believe this staff is the best staff for being under sixty intelligence (say, for a fifty/fifty Dex/Int build), when max upgraded. It has a sorcery rating of two-hundred-and-sixty-nine at plus ten with fifty INT.

"This weapon can be infused with Ashes of War and buffed with Magic and Consumables" aside from the ashes of war infusion which is pretty straightforward I was wondering what does "can be buffed with magic and consumables" means. I am almost to the very end of the game, but I have yet to find a way to buff your staff with spells or consumables, nor I can do it with another staff. Is that just a typo?

Easily the #3 staff in the game in terms of sheer sorcery power, and so much easier to get and use than Lusat’s staff or the Carian Regal Scepter.

+14 is when it finally tied the Meteorite Staff for me at Sorcery Scaling 211. That's when the STR scaling went from E to D. And at 1.5 lower weight.

I can confirm the sorcerers drop the staff, I got 3 copies from just killing random sorcerers (they also drop even while playing coop when you are the Furled Finger). Edited the wiki to add this information.

Some sorcerers dropped the staff; not even in the academy yet but they were probably academy students - I think it was in the academy Crystal cave dungeon

Can be droped from the sorceries in academy; was looking for the second academy glinstone key to bring it to Tophs and one of the mages just dropped it; not sure which one, the one that casts pebbles or the one that casts those spiral thingies but yeah

At 80 INT Academy Staff+25 stands at 345 Sorc Scaling.... Carian Regal+10 is 373 Sorc Scale , and Lusat's+10 is at 413 Sorc Scale. ( I have a decent 50 Mind so at this point i'm always rocking Lusat not Carian , because the 40 difference in Scaling has about 13%-15% damage difference actually between Lusat & Carian fully upgraded at 80 INT Hardcap ). And i tried 99 INT Lusat is 430 Sorc Scale while Carian is only 388..... I actually also have 40 Faith and my Golden Order Seal +10 is 353 Incantation Scaling , which is a Seal that outperforms Academy Staff in terms of Scaling. ( Do note tho Academy Staff is Best when INT is around 60-69 , after that Carian Regal picks up more Sorcery Scale and of course Lusat's ). Goodluck fellas , i'll be running for 80/80 INT & Faith which will provide Prince of Death's Staff at a 448 Sorc Scaling which outperforms Lusat's without no Penalty but that needs atleast more than level 250+ if your going with decent other Stats lol. ( Ohh and also , for a Mage im now Hybridly built with INT , Faith & Dex aswell with a 50 Mind , if you reach atleast 45 or 50 Mind Lusat becomes better than Carian as your FP Pool is insanely large even bigger than Stamina bar... That's what i'm prefering , as Lusat has the Strongest Sorcery Scale as for now uptill complete INT/Faith Hybrid build ).

Best staff up to 68 INT, after which Carian Regal overtakes it. At max upgrade, 68 INT, both Academy Glintstone and Carian Regal have 321 sorcery scaling. At 69 INT, 323/326 Academy/Carian Regal. At 80 INT, difference increases to 345/373.

Starts overtaking Meteorite Staff scaling at +14, though Meteorite likely continues to be better for gravity spells for a while thanks to the +30% damage.

Seems to be the overall best staff to use at 60 INT.
Has only -10 spell buff than Lusat's (314 vs. 304 ~ 3.2% difference) without the additional 50% FP cost.

For comparison, agaisnt the Omen brute right outside of the Underground Roadside:

654 for Lusat's, cost 18 FP ~ 36.3 dmg/fp
630 for Academy, cost 12 FP ~ 52.5 dmg/fp
- Rock Sling -
717 for Lusat's, cost 27 FP ~ 26.5 dmg/fp
690 for Academy, cost 18 FP ~ 38.3 dmg/fp

Unless you're using the Comet Azur 0 FP strategy for bosses, this staff is far more efficient in general play with 60 INT.
Additionally, it has no skill; which means you can equip this in your left hand and use the skill of your right hand weapon (Lusat's also has this property but again, it makes your spells cost 50% more FP).

I got this from the second sorcerer I killed right at the start of academy of raya lucaria after the first lift. Like someone else mentioned, I think the 'where to find' should be updated. You'll probably have 10+ of these before you even go back to give your key to thops

I am at +22 on this staff with a sorc scaling of 316, not sure if helpful for comparing to other staffs. my 9+ Carian regal scepter is 335 and will scale to 352 when complete (10). I assume the boss rod will outscale this one.
