This upgrade can't be enchanted with Magic or boosted with Consumables. The Sorcery Scaling displayed on this table shows Minimum Requirement and Intelligence 80 as xx-yy.

I feel like this was an opportunity to make a more unique looking staff given the purpose. Kinda sad it’s just another stick with a gem on top

No mention if you need the inverted statue to get to this staff. Meaning: No mention if you can get this staff before proceeding with Seluvis or not.

Can't see the point of making glintblade sorceries two different categories.

Making a pure slicer pvp build, which one does more damage? 2 carian glinstone staves? Or lusat right hand + carian glinstone staff off-hand?
- Anonymous
This staff can be infused with the AoW Spinning Weapon, despite what the article says. Probably needs corrected.
- Anonymous
Would this be better than Academy Glintstone or Carian Regal outside dual wielding staves(just offhanding the staff) when casting sword sorceries? or does Academy still beat it. Currently 55 Int and plan to enjoy Adula's Moonblade and Comet Azure. This is PVE btw.

Surprisingly to me, this staff outperforms the Carian Regal Scepter at moderately high intelligence. My int/dex build leaves me with 60 points into intelligence, and a fully upgraded Carian Glintstone Staff yields higher spellbuff than the Carian Regal Scepter. I think it's still a couple of points behind the Academy Staff, however, the difference is more than made up for by the buff to Carian Slicer, so if you regularily use Carian Slicer (which you should), then this is the strongest staff in the game at moderately high int.

I got to Mountaintops before I realized it was this staff that boosts the sword sorceries and not the glintblade staff. For ****'s sake.

@15Nov2022, are you intentionally being ignorant? Like what are you even going on about with your pointless comment?
- Anonymous
it can take ashes of war, just not a lot, and has better scaling than higher int requiring staves up to int level 70.

I swear to god this used to boost Loretta’s spells. There weren’t any patch notes about it that I saw, just one day they needed it. Anyone else or am I crazy?!

little fun thing for a melee pure caster with this - offhand azur's staff and radagon icon, max casting speed even with minimum dex for most classes. then you just chop them into little magic pieces.
What is the difference between this staff and the carian blade staff...thingy? The other staff that Claims to boost carian sorceries? Which one does the Carian Knight in Raya Lucaria use?
- Anonymous
My favorite staff in terms of design. Love it's simplistic look. Also love how it enhances my favorite type of sorceries, the melee ones.
- Anonymous
It's not mentioned but this staff appears to boost the damage of Loretta's Greatbow too. Tested on Meotorite Staff(173 Sorc Scaling) and Glinstone Staff +12 (163 Sorc scaling) to compare. Attributes at 32Int 20Str. Bow did 299 damage with Meteorite but 350 with Glinstone Staff. like 17.5% damage increase - a little more than the 15% boost advertised.
Maybe you Smarty Charlies on here can point out an X Factor skewing the results here but it makes sense Glinstone Staff would affect Loretta's - it's very "Carian-esque" in appearance comparing to greatsword, piercer, slicer.

I honestly much prefer using this to dual wielding staffs, I like the playstyle of a spellblade, with a Godskin Stitcher or Helphen's Steeple, my favourite weapon. The variety of adding a weapon to your spells more than makes up for the superior damage of Carian+Lusats.
- Anonymous
I never tested it before patch 1.04, but as of today at least, Gavel of Haima IS boosted by this staff.
- Anonymous
Just did some testing (and I don't know if it's already been mentioned) but the much like with Azur's Glintstone Staff you don't have to actually cast the spell through your Carian Glintstone Staff in order to get the +15% damage boost, just carry it in your other hand!
An especially potent combo if you have this in your main hand, Lusat's in your offhand, and then cast Adula's Moonblade through the Lusat's staff to enjoy the higher Sorcery scaling!

Just found this staff at the top of the Luirna Highway North watch tower.

Does anyone know if the sword sorc boost is greater than the additional scaling you could get from Academy Glintstone Staff at 60 int? 304 vs CGS's 291 (according to below comment) + sword sorc boost. Would the boost still result in higher damage on sword sorcs or does the additional raw sorc scaling from AGS make up for it?
- Anonymous
291 at +25 with 60 Int. Boosts Slicer, Piercer AND Moonblade.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
According to the INT staff scaling list, this is the forth best staff (no drawback) with 291 scaling at 60 Int, just shy of Academy Glinestone's 304 scaling. However, it has a 15% boost on some of the most useful carian sword sorcery, like the slicer and piercer. So this might actually be the best staff for SL125 PVP

if youre gonna go pure int sword sorceries and youre goal is 80 int, use this for early/mid game, then switch to Carian Regal Scepter once you reach 80 int. at 80 int with sword sorceries, CRS +10 actually does a bit more damage than a CGS +25.
tested with Carian Slicer on the giant miranda flower at Waypoint ruins, with graven mass talisman and magic scorpion charm
CRS +10: 722 damage
CGS +25: 716 damage

Did some quick tests wielding 2 of this staff and it appears you get the benefit of both their passive, still won’t out perform off handing this w azurs but it’s only about 10% less

Tested at 60 int 40 dex on the albinaurics next to the palace approach ledge-road grace, a carian glintstone staff at +19 boosts glintblade sorceries past the carian regal scepter at +10.
Carian Glintstone Staff +19: One swing of Carian Slicer does 424
Carian Regal Scepter +10: One swing of Carian Slicer does 417
Tested and confirmed that Adula's Moonblade is boosted by this staff, edited to add it to the list.

I noticed that my scaling for this staff was pretty close to my meteorite staff, so I did my own tests. Against the same enemy (wolves):
Slicer:
CGS+14 (183 scaling): 352 damage
Meteorite (188 scaling): 320 damage
Greatsword:
CGS: 552 damage
Meteorite: 500 damage
Piercer:
CGS: 595 damage
Meteorite: 539 damage
So this seems to confirm it's around a 10% damage boost.

You DO NOT need to do anything with any quests to get this staff. Simply enter the tower, don’t get blasted by the mage and go up the stairs. Very straightforward
- Anonymous
After reading some comments and learning that staves/scepters in the off-hand applies their bonus a full mage build would be dual wielding staves. It's pretty cool.
- Anonymous
78 INT
At the same enemy, randomly picked Ancestral Warrior, the type with a bow equipped by default and switch to a double-handed axe for melee. Trying Carian Slicer.
Carian Glintstone Staff +12 -> Sorcery Scaling 247 -> 424 dmg
Crystal Staff +5 -> Sorcery Scaling 272 -> 419 dmg
(Meteorite Staff has 269 Sorcery Scaling at 78 INT.)
So it seems the Carian buff is multiplicative after everything else. And due to diminishing return from adding more Sorcery Scaling to the already high Sorcery Scaling of Meteorite Staff (if you have high Intelligence), the Carian buff outperforms.
- Anonymous
I assume you have to progress to where you can flip the tower to obtain this?
To avoid any confusion: If you use the GLINTSTONE staff, this will buff the Carian sword spells.
This is limited to the Carian Slicer, Carian Greatsword, and Carian Piercer.
If you plan to make those spells your primary source of damage, use this.
- Anonymous
So this is for the spells that conjure swords you'd swing with? And not to the sword like glintblade sorceries that work like homing soul mass.
- Anonymous
HUGE TIP:
Staffs spell buffs will buff spells not being used in your Offhand. So for example: You cannot upgrade the Meteorite Staff, but if you upgrade the Carian Regal Sceptor, and have the Meteorite staff in your Offhand, the Meteorite staff will buff the Meteorite Spells casted by the Upgraded Sceptor in your casting hand. This works for all the staffs. So save all your stones, upgrade one staff and use the others to buff w/e spell class you need. Im here for you all

this stave need only 22 int. but you must use meteorite staff, is better than this.

Is this worth for INT based melee characters sometimes using blade spells ? How does the scaling change when upgraded ?
- Anonymous
Meteorite staff in right and CARIAN GLINTSTONE in left.
carian slicer - 443 dmg with meteorite and 509 with both (47 int).
- Anonymous
Seems to be not working for now, with the carian staff at +10 and 36 int my meteorite staff outperforms in at all of the sword sorceries (slicer, greatsword, and piercer)
does it work with moonblade too or does it work only with spells that have carion in the name ?
The bonus still work if you use other staff while having this one on the other hand, that means you don't even need to upgrade this and could just use the meteor staff for better scaling.
- Anonymous
Does the passive affect Magic Glintblade and Glintblade Phalanx also?
- Anonymous
Turns into scaling at +14. Even at +14 it only has a 241 scaling which is lower than Carian sceptre +6.
When looking into staves I would suggest the following:
Take azure if you want to have tiny bit more cast speed for tiny bit more FP cost
Take Lusat if you want 10%~ more damage for 50% more FP cost
Take Carian scepter if you want a strong staff with normal costs (full moon sorcery buffed but fullmoon ability cannot be chosen if you take scepter)
Meteorite is insane and will probably be best in slot with gravity rock spell until you get into the +7 +8 Somber stones

Did my own tests on the Captain at Gatefront Ruins. Carian Slicer results with three different catalysts @ 30 INT
- Glintstone Staff +6 (Sorc scaling 144): 147 dmg
- Carian Glintstone Staff +1 (132): 153 dmg
- Meteorite Staff (168): 178 dmg
Carian Greatsword results, same criteria
- Glintstone Staff +6: 230 dmg
- Carian Glintstone Staff +1: 236 dmg
- Meteorite Staff: 278 dmg

This test proves that the boost provided by CGS is not insubstantial, beating out +12 Sorcery scaling from Glintstone Staff +6. However, as mentioned in a previous comment, it doesn't seem like it can top a more significant difference in scaling. Depending on how far we can upgrade CGS it could be better, but if it caps at +10 then better to stick with Meteorite Staff.

Tested out this staff at +10 with Carion Slicer and Carion Great Sword vs the Meteor staff and Meteor staff still does more damage. Boost either doesn't work or is very small. Sorc scaling was Meteor 218 vs Carion Staff 194.

Passive is a bit more specific, "Boosts CARIAN sword sorcery", non-cariannsword sorceries are unnafected
