I hate this. So much. It's CALLED the GLINTBLADE STAFF. But it doesn't buff the piercer and slicer and whatever that other one is called.

I´m playing a carian knight with the carian knight sword and I was wondering if this staff would also passively buff the carian grandeur of the sword as long as I keep the staff in my left hand. Has anyone tested tihs yet?

confused. My Carian Glintblade Staff has an Ash of War box in front of it. According to your above entry it can't be infused with AOW.

INT hybrids might want to consider this more carefully. If you cap at 50 or 60 INT, this staff is only a couple points of spellbuff behind the academy staff, and if you're mainly using melee (eg. a royal greatsword enjoyer), then glintblade spells are already your best friends in combat

Tied with the Albinauric Staff for the lightest weight of all the sorcery staves. Good for a heavily armored spellsword build. 0.5 doesn't sound like much but it can mean the difference of a few points in INT, END, or MND.

Wouldn't it be amazing if this stave was used as a weapon and a magic tool, like the pilgrim's spontoon in DS2

Very worth considering for 50 Int builds. Fully upgraded it's only 3 points behind Academy staff, and the 15% more than makes up for that if you regularly use Magic Glintblade/Phalanx which you absolutely should be at 50 Int.
Also only weighs 2.5 instead the usual 3 or 4.5 which isn't amazing but is nice.

Pretty sure this is broken right now and not boosting glintblade sorcery. Just been doing tests of this at +4 vs Demi Human queen staff +1. At these level and 28 int these staves each have 138 sorcery scaling. Test done on the troll before Godrick

I'm assuming something is incorrect on the stats on this page.
I have a Carian Glintblade Staff + 23 currently and its providing 289 Sorcery Scaling. The number on this page says +23 is providing 189.
I also have a Regal Carian Scepter + 9 and its providing 278 Sorcery Scaling. This number is correct on its own personal page.
Its entirely possible that im interpreting something incorrectly.
My character is currently level 140 with 61 INT. I also have 48 DEX. Maybe its my DEX coming to play? i'm unsure.

Again, bad design. Why on earth the names of the passive buffs are so midleading. Why is it so hard to write it down in the spelldescription from which school a spell is? Furthermore two staffs have passives boost to the same school but different spells. Really pisses me of, because it kills so muc immersion and diving into this great game. Reading wiki pages, because of bad game design is so oldschool and way outdated in 2022. After 50 years of playing games i'm really bored of such nonsense.

Is it 194 + 30 = 224.then add 15% to these spells, so, 257.6. maybe that's it's 25 lvl value. But read the Adtrologer Class description, shouldn't that mean the class gets a boost with this weapon too? So, another 15? Idk but if that's true it would be, 296.24. Azure staff and Lusats staff were performing better. azurs was nice with a soft cap of Dex too and that spell speed talisman.

For those curious between GlintBlade and GlintStone. As far as I can see from wiki information and personal testing, GlintBlade is focused on the ranged side of Carian spells. While GlintStone is focused on the melee side of Carian Spells.

Personally I think the names should have been reversed, but I think the GlintBlade name was decided based of of the GlintBlade Phalanx.

Alongside notes others have made, neither seems to buff Loretta's Spells. Glintblade seems to be somewhat more damage for Loretta's Greatbow when using the base weapons, but that would be due to the inherent 1 point difference in sorcery scaling.

This certainly does not buff Loretta's Greatbow... I've been sitting here all night testing it on things, so far for sure it works with Magic Glintblade and 90% with Glintblade Phalanx. I've tested it with those 2 every which way. The staff with the bonus has to be out in your hand. The staff just being equipped does not give the bonus. Also, it does not buff the Ash of War: Glintblade Phalanx. I've tried it every which way and the only thing that effects how hard the ash of war hits for is the weapon it's on (and your base stats obviously). I hope it works with the other Phalanx spells at least, I have not got to test it yet...

I am absolutely sure this does NOT buff the damage of Loretta's Greatbow, I've test it as an offhand weapon and as a main. When I tested Carian Glintstone Staff, that definitely buffed the slicer and greatsword spells by a noticeable amount, so I know its not my testing method

To clear any confusion: the Glintblade staff will increase GLINTBLADE spells.
This is limited to Loretta's Greatbow / Mastery, Magic Glintblade, Greatblade Phalanx, Glintblade Phalanx, Carian Phalanx, and Carian Phalanx.

These do NOT buff the Sword skills such as Carian Slicer.

Seems to be a 15% increase to glintblade sorceries.. Some people say it effects the Longbow Sorceries but I wasn't seeing this, I tested by offhanding the Glintblade Staff and casting Carian Slicer with my mainhand staff.
Though it does look like your character "two hands" their main staff when casting Longbow and this may turn the passive off.

Sadly it doesn’t seem to enhance the Glintblade sorceries enough to make them worth using outside of typical “homing spell” niches, which are good for PvP, at the moment at least. It’s a great looking staff though and impo they should have ditched the Carian Staff altogether and made this staff enhance all Glintblade/Carian sorceries. All this being said, if you’re running a hybrid melee/magic buff build this staff is a good option as you can get that little extra boost out of the Glintblade sorceries.

From a bit of testing, seemed to boost Magic Glintblade by about 15%, compared to an Astrologer's Staff with nearly identical sorcery scaling. It also seemed to boost Glintblade Phalanx a bit, though I need to test more with that; sometimes hard to get accurate numbers due to multiple smaller hits at slightly different times, so they can be blocked/evaded.

This weapon says it can use ashes of war, which seems like either a typo or a unique ability among staves. If it can use ashes of war, does it give a damage bonus to the Glintblade Phalanx ash of war, or is it just glintblade sorceries?

It's important to note that there are two different items with similar names. The Carian GlintBLADE Staff (This one), and the Carian GlintSTONE staff. To anyone who is saying it is bugged and the effect isn't working, this is most likely the point of confusion:

Example of a GlintBlade sorcery, would be Greatblade Phalanx, or Carian Slicer
Example of a GlintStone sorcery would be Glintstone Pebble, or Great GlintStone Shard

This item does also have an E scaling in Dexterity (Compared to none at all) so it is a good option on a more melee-oriented spellcaster.

As a note: this appears to be the sorcery counterpart to incantations' Bestial Seal. Bestial Seal uniquely scales incantations with Strength as well as Faith, and improving Strength will also add carry weight, allowing your character to wear better armor for more damage reduction and poise. It seems that most Bestial incantations are focused on healing and close/mid-range combat. By contrast, while most Carian Glintblade sorceries are designed for melee-range combat, Strength isn't as clearly beneficial. With that in mind Dexterity is probably the better choice for sorcerers emphasizing Carian Glintblade sorceries since it improves casting speed, which isn't too much of an issue since spells in this subtype (as far as I'm aware at least) are generally more FP-efficient, making spamming them less costly.

With that knowledge, it's interesting to me that this staff is one of only two known staves that have Dexterity scaling. It isn't mentioned in the description that Dexterity would influence spell scaling, though. Could someone test to see what the Dex scaling of this staff is at higher upgrade tiers, and if Dex influences spell potency?

This affects ashes of war too. Carian Grandeur on +2 Carian Knight's Sword went from 317 (no staff) to 399 with a +7 glintblade staff, so about a 20% increase. This probably boosts carian slicer and others but meteorite staff is doing more damage.

When it says it boost Glintblade sorcery... are we talking about the Magic Glintblade Sorcery specifically? I'm just curious about this because it has Carian in the name and I use a spellblade build that relies on Carian Slicer. The updside seems to be that I can use Ashes of War on this so I can at least give it the Carian Greatblade skill as well, which I assume scales with Intelligence. I'm just unclear on what the passive means on this front.

I picked up the Meteorite Staff but it's gonna reach it's limit so far as usefulness is concerned I think. I am also looking at the Carian Glintstone Staff for this build.
