Scadutree Fragment is a new Upgrade Material in Elden Ring, debuting in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Scadutree Fragments are optional consumables that can be used to enhance simultaneously offensive and defensive capabilities at any Sites of Grace, acting like a permanent boost to your DLC damage dealt and damage negation.

A splinter of the Scadutree that contains golden brilliance. Acquired at the Church of Marika and other places in the realm of shadow. Consume these at sites of grace to bolster your Scadutree Blessing. The Scadutree Blessing bolsters the bearer's ability to deal and negate damage but has no influence outside the realm of shadow. It is said that when the Scadutree crumbles from its core that it will scatter across the entire realm of shadow. The people of the Erdtree collect the splinters and use them in prayer.

Elden Ring Scadutree Fragment Guide

How this mechanic (Shadow Realm Blessing) works:

As players progress through their journey, they will encounter Scadutree Fragment. Upon amassing a sufficient number of fragments, they will have the opportunity to rest at any Sites of Grace, where a new option becomes available to enhance the Shadow Realm Blessing. This enhancement simultaneously augments offensive and defensive capabilities (Increase your damage dealt and reduce your damage received). It's important to note that this process is entirely voluntary and can be ignored if desired.

The central focus of this groundbreaking mechanic centers on managing the impact of inflicted and received damage, while leaving other character statistics entirely customizable. As players advance to higher levels in the downloadable content (DLC), the challenges become more manageable due to the presence of additional mechanics that continue to influence the game. For example, opting to enhance Intelligence grants the ability to cast more spells and utilize extra buffs, while boosting Endurance enables the wearing of heavier armor. These features remain completely unaffected by the optional "level scaling" mechanic, providing players the choice to disregard it if they prefer.

In essence, this mechanic (Shadow Realm Blessing) allows for a more strategic approach to gameplay, offering players the flexibility to tailor their experience according to their preferences and playstyle. By highlighting the importance of damage management, it ensures a dynamic and engaging gaming experience without compromising existing mechanics and character development options.

Do NOTE that the benefits of the Shadow Realm Blessing ONLY work in the Realm of Shadows. If players, for some reason, decide to return to the Lands Between (which is the base game), this benefit won't have any effect.

Where to Find All Scadurtree Fragments: Scadutree Fragment in the new Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is somewhat similar to Golden Seeds or Sacred Tears. It can be found in key locations and is scattered everywhere, often off the beaten path. ~4,57% attack and taken dmg reduction per blessing. Looks to be global.

at 20 max blessing comes to 2,44 multiplier.

The exact same diffrence as between base dmg of +0 and +10/25 weapon. **** my +0 run I guess, Messmer or whatever inbreed femboy is the final boss will basically be balanced around 4636 HP and dmg numbers around 3k. Scaled up to this Malenia would have 81 132 HP in NG and 115 290 in NG+7

Is there anyway to undo these? I had no idea what they did and would have liked to just try the DLC without using these or does the DLC actually become that hard that i have to use them? Like how much does it affect my character overall. Nothing is clear about this. I'm a bit dissapointed since i don't like to use handicaps if possible.

Do these affect PvP/coop/invasion matchmaking? I assume not since Miyazaki wants the mechanic separate from normal leveling

I’m going to try to not use these. I’m not super hardcore, so I may tap out. The second I get one-shot or I can’t see the bosses health tick down when I hit them I’m popping them.

How do the buffs work exactly? I get that they essentially increase all your stats but the amounts they buff weapons by seems to be all out of whack. For example: when I used a Scadu fragment just now, my weps all increased by vastly different amounts. I've got Hand of Malenia in slot 1 which went up by 30 AR, Bolt of Gransax in slot 2 went up by about 50 and Marika's Hammer in slot 3 went up by a whopping 104 AR. I also noticed the Black Blade incant did significantly more damage than before while Scarlet Aeonia only increased a little so the buffs to Faith/Holy stuff seems to be much bigger than anything else.

So do these Scadu things just love holy? Maybe they hate Dex? Or do they buff more based on how many attributes a weapon scales with? Halp!

Scadutree Fragment to the East of Scorched Ruins, overlooking the Church of Marika (Consolation) in front of a statue.

I actually like idea, giving hardcore players option to do not use them, and still giving other new power spikes options. Kinda sad it's not reversible

If I invade with maxed out buffs will I be paired with someone the same level but 0 buffs? Is this possible? LMAO

Just fyi it's actually pronounced "SHA-du Tree", and not like national treasure 2008 hit film Kung Fu Panda's re-occurring catch phrase

Calling it now, by the end of the DLC, if you don't use these you're gonna be punished comparably to not upgrading your weapons or leveling vigour in the base game.
