Banished Knight's Shield is a Medium Shield in Elden Ring. The Banished Knight's Shield is a Shield that scales primarily with Strength. Medium Shields feature a good balance between defense and weight, which is great for most situations in combat. Although it may not be as light as a Small Shield which is good for agility and parrying, the Standard Shield works best at reducing damage and blocking.

A tall medium-sized metal shield. Given to knights who, whether
by misfortune or misdeed, were forced to abandon their homes.

Most of these knights were sent to the fringes, where they were
forced to start anew with only despair for company.

  On my rl1 run I really like this over the brass shield, you only need radagon's soreseal to wield it. Meanwhile the brass shield would require 1 more str, sure you can get it from omensmirk mask but there are a lot of other headpieces you could use instead.

  The only thing I dislike about this thing is how it invalidates like 90% of the other medium and Greatshields.
  High Guard Boost, low Weight and of course top tier fashion.

  I really hope Fromsoft removes the exclusivity of unique items as random item drops in their next games. Enemies dropping consumables is cool, but every weapon, spell, and piece of armor should have a guaranteed way to be obtained. I don't care if it costs 1M Runes or can only be found in NG+7, EVERY unique item should be obtainable in equal opportunity by all players. I like how this shield looks and its stats seem amazing for its class, yet I'll never use it because I don't feel like spending hours trying to get this because of the arbitrary limitation of having it depend on luck.

  Opinion: this silver-black shield is the best solution for a mage. It is more beautiful and neater than the brass shield with which all the soldiers in the game walk. All his shortcomings are eliminated by spells of the Scholar's Shield, Golden Vow, Protection of the Erdtree or the Immutable Shield. You won't need a Barricade Shield if your weapon can stun knights through R2. A Great Epee fits this shield well.

  Coolest shield by far. I don't understand why Fromsoft only included a single long/big metal kite shield when they always had so many of them in the previous games, DS3 alone has like 10 medium shields like this. Hope they add more of them in the DLC.

  Stats aren't much worse than the brass shield's stats, and it's a bit lighter and has lower requirements so it ultimately comes down to which one you think looks more fashionable imo.

  In an hour of farming in caelid i got:
  * 9 Swords
  * 8 Helmets
  * 6 Chests
  * 7 Gauntlets
  * 5 Pants
  * and only 1 shield (and it was the last item I get). I think the shield has a significantly lower chance of dropping the other parts or maybe I'm the unluckiest player in this game :(

  I prefer this over the Brass Shield; it's a bit heavier, but it has noticeably higher Guard Boost and comes with No Skill by default. It's good for trying to block and use Guard Counters instead of trying to Parry, without investing into using a Greatshield.

  One of the best shields in the game imo. If you're a build that doesn't benefit from strength, this lets you save a couple points of strength and has almost as high stability as the brass shield. If you have 16+ strength, brass shield is better until you have the strength and equip load for a greatshield.

  Got it from farming the Banished knight that spawns right at Cathedral of Dragon Communion in Caelid. Took me only about 5-7 tries before I got it.

  Only second to the the Brass Shield for the throne of best Medium shield in the game, period. It trades some stats for looks and is therefore the objectively superior choice. /s
  
  It's so weird that there isn't better. Those two can be obtained incredibly early in the game and you'll never find a better all-around option at that Strength range.
