You can get 250 of these or rotbone bolts before Margit. Go to the war masters shack Grace and wait until nightfall, get up and rest again but don’t pass time. Go into the shack and there’s a boss that will appear that drops the bone peddlers bell bearing that allows you to buy thin beast bones at the twin finger maiden husks at the round table hold. Buy 50 they’re 150 runes each so if you don’t wanna farm 7.5k runes we’ll come back later with over 70k. Head to caelid and go to the smoldering wall grace. Head northish until you reach a ravine that bleeds into the lake of aeonia. There’s a secret dungeon called the abandoned cave in the wall of the cave you can jump into from your side. There’s at least 15 aeonian butterflies here but you gotta go through a lot of rot so bring a weapon capable of quick step. After you cleared it of butterflies make your way to fort Gael. Below is small rot lake and ruins on the shore both have around 3 butterflies combined. Head to the lake of Aeonia which is on the other side of the main road leading to redmane castle. Before the lake look for a merchant he sells 3 butterflies. Now clear out the entire lake, scour every inch of the place for butterflies. You should by now have 25 of them. Now just go down the main road until you pass a dragon boss and find a merchant along the road that sells the cookbook for the rotbone arrow. If you don’t have enough runes for either 50 small beast bones or 3 butterflies go to the fort haight grace in dragon barrow which is in caelid. On your way there you’re gonna see a huge grounded dragon with 3 lesser ones with red eyes. Head back to that dragon and go along the back of it until you reach the top of its tail and start wailing on it with a bleed weapon. There’s a flail with 60 bleed in the storm gate ruins at the beginning of the game in 1 of the 2 carriage chests, you don’t even need to reach the reqs to use it. Just hit the dragon for 10 mins until the bleed procs kill him, his death also kills the 3 red eye dragons totaling over 70k runes pretty damn early plus 5 dragon hearts. Use the runs to buy the butterflies and the bones. Craft 25 instances of rotbone arrows or bolts, each instance gives 10. Use the rest of the runes to level up. Congrats you now have 250 scarlet rot cheese arrows/bolts have fun
