Perfume Bottles are a type of Weapon in Elden Ring (not to be confused with the Key Items of the same name). Perfume Bottles consist of a pair of glass bottles filled with potent mixtures that can deal various types of elemental damage when released into the air. When used in combat, the Tarnished sprays the bottle's contents in a sweeping arch in front of them.

Perfume Bottles are Paired Weapons, where wielding them two-handed puts a bottle in each hand and increases both the attack speed and the amount of damage dealt. They can block attacks and perform ripostes for more damage. Unlike their consumable counterparts, Perfume Bottles have unlimited contents and do not "run out", nor do they consume FP (except when performing Skills).

Perfume Bottles can be modified by a number of Ashes of War to change their Skills or Damage Type, so play around with them and see what you like.

This is one of the 8 new weapon types debuting in Shadow of the Erdtree, and is not present in the base game.

So they do listen to players when making weapons. This is so fun and wished for these so bad seeing how theres a talisman for them. The chilling one looks rlly cool

      • Anonymous

they should have added a sleep, death blight and maybe scarlet rot parfume bottle. Bleed bottle would be nice but it doesnt really make sense but i geuss it could work

        • Anonymous

These actually have a cool moveset. If you powerstance them the r1 is much faster than two handing one, and the jumping powerstance l1 is different then regular two handing jump r1. Also, the backstop attack when you cancel a heavy has an equally far r1 follow up.

          • It's a shame the poison bottle is the only one with a unique Skill, and that you can't apply other damage affinities to these (though I suppose that does make some sense). That said, I think it'd be fun to have some kind of "blank canvas" type of perfume bottle, maybe a bottle full of gravel/sand that does raw physical damage, in a similar flavor to Bestial Sling (insert "Pocket Sand" joke here) and you can apply different affinities to it, like blood, holy, magic, etc.

Or maybe just make separate bottles for those kinds of damage. I'd love to have a Blood spraying bottle, or maybe one that induces Sleep or Scarlet Rot.

            • Anonymous

The feint attack you do with these changes depending on whether you are one-hand or two-handing. One-hand feint throws in an arc curving up, and two-handed throws two clouds horizontally. Power stance feint just does a one-hand feint with the bottle in your right hand.

              • Anonymous

Is there any chance that they would add new weapons to these categories, because i really like the throwing blade and the bottles and I wanted more of them

                • Anonymous

its a shame we get a sneak peek at some of these neat new weapon types only to realize we probably wont see any new additions to them

                  • Anonymous

These things would actually be viable if you could change their affinity to anything but standard naturally fromsoft screws it up again smh.

                    • Anonymous

                      These things are weird.

On their own, they are extremely weak as weapons. Almost no poise damage, little to now hyperarmor, and short range.

Their unqiue ashes of war - which none of them come with and have to be found in the world - are absurd, however.

                      • Anonymous

havent used them yet but i imagine mixing the frenzyflame bottle with the chilling bottle would be the best combo as it would proc both madness and frostbite and also remove the cold effect with fire

                        • Anonymous

All of these have a feint attack if you backstep while charging the heavy. You step back and release a vertical line of perfume.

                          • Anonymous

I was playing around with the perfumes earlier and i think they have a unique weapon attack: Backstep Heavy Attack. At least with the firespark i have so far if you start charging up a heavy attack and then input a dodge command you jump backwards and throw out your perfume sparks in a low to high pattern. it seems like you can aim it if you arent target locked somewhat, and it reaches high enough I think you can hit some bigger enemies heads like the crouching dragons. Please help me check if this is just unique to the firespark perfume attacks or if its across the board!

I've been running a Travelling Perfumer build since I discovered the Perfume theme during my first playthrough back when the game came out, these are something I never thought my build needed, I was content with the consumables alone, getting used to farming for the materials often.

I can't thank them enough for adding this weapon class, something fun and potent, yet doesn't render the consumables redundant at all, I've completely replaced my RH3 slot backup Flail with these and they haven't let me down once, I searched for them like crazy after finding the first and if this Wiki page is correct then I have them all, the Frenzy one is being saved for Enemy NPC's, Invaders and PvP exclusively.

I feel like this is what the perfume bottles should’ve been to begin with. I love the additions to this dlc so much

                                • Anonymous

Has anyone tested all of these things? Aside from fun, how is it in terms of damage and effectiveness in pve and pvp?

                                  • Anonymous

beware, these are completely useless on a moving elevator as the projectiles will simply go into the sky/ground

                                    • Anonymous

My only gripe with them is how slow they are. For their damage they have a very very slow moveset. Otherwise though, pretty fun stuff all around

                                      • Anonymous

Only have 2 of them so far, they're quite fun to use, will go great for cosplay invasions, sadly you can't do the same running heavy attack when using two different perfumes

It may not happen but if we do get more weapons in the future maybe we could get rot, blood flame, sleep versions of perfume bottles

                                        • Anonymous

Bro sometimes fromsoft does some weird things
This weapon class completely undermine the concept of consumable perfume cause now why even bother gathering the material and crafting them when you can use them infinitely

                                          • Anonymous

Was really expecting a scarlet rot perfume, I know it might have been a little op. but rot is really hard for melee weapons to build up unless its that rapier.

                                            • Anonymous

Note that perfume bottles can only use Ashes of War that default to a physical infusion. For example, you can put Storm Stomp but not Hoarfrost Stomp or Golden Vow despite the latter working on "all weapons" because it would change the infusion, and unfortunately you can't just get the Ash and switch it to Standard with the whetblade. There are some perfume-specific Ashes though.

                                              • Anonymous

People can't take criticism of the dlc. Was expecting way more perfumes. They all have the same model/icon/moveset so was it so hard to add more varieties? Bleed could've been bloodflame? Sleep with magic? Holy?

It's not like it's hard to implement lore wise, most of the weapons have the exact same lore word for word.

                                                • Anonymous

I decide to make a whole list of unique traits these weapons have.
                                                  -paired
                                                  -can do feints
-only has standard infusion when using ash of war
-can’t use some of the ash of wars that day all weapons, like golden vow

                                                  • Anonymous

these have been really fun so far. i have found the fire, frost, and poison weapons. BIG warning though. the damage ceiling on them is pretty low compared to other weapons. and the hurt box on a number of bosses has been very bad. i couldnt do damage to the Lion Dancer thing unless you're standing inside its model. basically, they have about as much range as fists or claws, but wider swings. at 80 dex and 80 arcane its felt like they arent hitting great in the DLC unless its vs trash mobs.

                                                    • Anonymous

C'mon FROM, I expected at least 8 perfumes. Fire, Magic, Lightning, Holy, Bleed, Poison, Sleep, and Frost.

All the weapons have the same model, the same moveset, and the same icon but different colored to match the element. Would it have been so difficult to add more types to the game? Even 3 of the 5 perfumes share the same lore in description.

So WHY only 5? 5 that all scale with dex?! Was this in support of pride month?

I hope somehow there are more weapons especially perfumes that have yet to be found.

Every perfume is copy and paste, just different color, scaling, and damage. No excuse to not have 8+ perfumes, there's 30+ pots(which I'm happy about :D) which needed more work to implement them since each has a unique physical model and icon.

                                                      :(

                                                      • Anonymous

Hope Lighting bottle is good. I'm a fai/arc build with bout 55 faith. I'm going to do the dlc without base game stuff, wish me luck!

                                                        • Anonymous

From my very limited testing. The perfume talisman raises the attack on these by about 90? Might need to look into it further.

                                                          • Anonymous

perfume talisman boosts damage by 20%. by no means op considering its as slow as old flails. Hope there exists bleed sleep rot and death blight ones to complete the status effect set.

                                                            • Anonymous

Know when your at a restaurant and someone has an overpowering amount of perfume on? That's going to be me, now.

                                                              • Anonymous

i'll be sad if there was no pure magic, bleed, sleep, rot, or holy perfume. they all use the same moveset so it can't be hard to code many yummy colors and varieties :(

                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                  • Anonymous

Just gotta dab a little perfume first.

                                                                    • Anonymous

I just love a variety of colors

                                                                        • Anonymous

since these can be infused i wonder if it'll be like staffs where the only option is standard. since they already do pure elemental damage at the very least i'd be surprised if you could make them heavy or keen, but i doubt infusing them with magic or blood etc will be possible

                                                                          • Anonymous

Was kinda hoping they would have an fp cost attached to their attacks, would allow for more perfume varieties.
Imagine there was a high fp cost bottle that excessively sprays perfumes, doing much higher damage and leaving flaming puddles that do damage.

Obviously since fp cost is no longer a factor, the only way to balance a high damage perfume is by giving it slower attacks or a smaller aoe.

                                                                            • Anonymous

High damage, wide aoe, axe attack speed, no fp cost, no material cost, lingering hit box. Haven't seen what the stagger is like, but if it's similar to a normal weapon then you could probably stun lock someone to death with the wide aoe and fast speed.

They're going to be OP, but watch from nerf them into the ground because balancing is such a hard task for them.

                                                                              • Anonymous

very excited for these, I always like how the coded sword and cipher pata were a way for non mage builds to do pure elemental damage, but they were always a bit bad dude to being holy. with these, we finally have a consistent, non fp or consumable reliant way of dealing elemental damage that isn't holy and doesn't suffer from split damage reductions

                                                                                • Anonymous

In recent gameplay reveals perfumes clearly scale with Dex which isnt all that surprising considering thats also the case for spark aromatics but if we really are to get some dealing status buildup it might be good idea to consider leveling up some arcane.
Hopefully theres at least one that scales with arcane by default to further push the build into shape, it just makes sense.

Also the 65 fire damage block from the Firespark Bottle is isnanely cool even if only with 18 guard boost, they deal pure elemental damage and it might just be me but we didnt see any weapon art which is concerning but might still be usable. Still, its mostly flavour that matters

                                                                                  • Anonymous

I can understand no material costs. Good, no more horrible farming, but no fp cost too? Seems out of place to have a never ending bottle of sparks without any lore explanation. If it consumed a small amount of fp every swing it would make more "sense", as if there's a finite concoction within the bottle because fp is finite.

What stops this from being a 0fp cost catch flame or fire AoW?

Kinda hope they add a small fp cost. Maybe 3fp per light attack and 5/7 for heavy and charged.

The firespark perfume does 560 damage at 80 dex for 0fp cost. The spark aromatic does around 730 damage at 80 dex for 10fp AND requires 1 miranda flower and 3 atlas blooms. How is any of this balanced or coherent?

                                                                                    • Anonymous

Apparently perfume weapons are arcane scaling + relevant stat scaling related to type.

I'm guessing fire perfume will be dex/arcane, poison perfume will be higher arcane scaling, magic perfume will be int/arcane, holy water perfume will be arcane/faith etc. Wonder what type of perfume will have strength scaling, if any.

I'd say a perfume dedicated build will scale similar to the dragon seal, having 45 to 60 in arcane and then 30 to 45 in relevant damage type stat. It could be 30/30/30/30/45 softcaps to do good damage with every perfume type, which is equivalent to 54 strength/80 dex quality.

                                                                                      • Anonymous

I hope they make these bottles have moderate damage with a medium aoe, and the crafting bottles with large damage and a large aoe to compensate for material costs. It would be like the tonitrus weapon and mini tonitrus hunter tool in bloodborne.

Imagine having a magic perfume weapon that inflicts frostbite and resetting the frostbite with the spark aromatic.

                                                                                        Perfumer bros are eating

Gonna throw out some guesses on perfume types here:
Basic Firespark (Fire damage no status) = Dex
Cold perfume (magic damage, frost) = Dex + Int
Poison perfume (basic damage, poison) = Dex + Arc
Lightning perfume (lightning damage, no status) = Dex + Fth
I don't know if these will have ashes or not, but I think they're gonna neat

                                                                                          • Anonymous

im going to eat them. yum yum yum. thats me snacking on this weapon type leaving none for my fellow tarnished.

                                                                                            • Anonymous

Hopefully it's not all the same moveset with a different colored spray and damage type.

It would be really cool if it's different bottles that have different stats/scaling/moveset but you have to "infuse" it with the type of spray you want. If it had a system similar to the physic where you mix 2 tears it would be amazing.

Imaging you could mix say a blood tear and a fire tear to get a "blood flame" perfume that does low fire damage and bleed buildup over time, or stack 2 fire or 2 blood for the singular effect but more potent. Imagine all the combinations that could've been made with base damage types and effects. Magic, Fire, lightning, Holy, Bleed, Rot, Poison, Frost, Madness, Sleep, Death, Oiled, anti Undead, Anti Dragon, Anti Gravity enemies.

Or effects like attack debuff, defense debuff, stamina drain, fp drain etc Imagine being able to choose if the mist lingers and applies small damage or does a single burst of high damage. Faster sprays for high dps or slower sprays with high stagger.

Imagine if you could use the iron jar perfume mixture in this weapon to apply a bit of damage and a debuff. Small amount of strike damage for throwing a heavy metallic liquid and the -60% lightning debuff for 10 seconds. Give them a lightning strike with full conductivity.

I'm just rambling now and probably play too many rpgs, but if from software implemented this weapon with a sort of mixing station with all these effects available, I would literally come.
