Summons mimic tear spirit

Mimic Tear Ashes is a Spirit and Summon in Elden Ring. Mimic Tear Ashes summons mimic tear spirit.

Mimic Tear can also be found as a Boss in Elden Ring. For more information, see Mimic Tear.

Legendary ashen remains.
Use to summon the spirit of a mimic tear.
Summoning consumes HP rather than FP.

This spirit takes the form of the summoner to fight alongside
them, but its mimicry does not extend to imitating the
summoner's will.
Mimic tears are the result of an attempt by the Eternal City to
forge a lord.

Elden Ring Mimic Tear Ashes Information

  • Consumes HP (660), but does not consume FP.
  • Mimic Tear will make use of the following:
    • Currently-equipped Weapons - Prioritizes use of right-hand weapon wielded when summoned, can also powerstance dual wielded weapons.
    • Armor and shields (if applicable)
    • Talismans
      • If Shabriri's Woe is duplicated by the mimic and subsequently unequipped by the player, it will become the focus for aggro.
    • Spells/Incantations (if using a staff or seal respectively)
    • Arrows/Bolts - Unlimited supply of those equipped when summoned
      • Swaps between Arrows/Bolt types at random when firing.
    • Consumables - Can use as many as the player had equipped when summoned
      • Mimic Tear will not increase offensive consumable use even if lacking a weapon.
      • Exception: Flask of Crimson Tears appears to be limited and does not need to be equipped by the player when summoned.
    • Visually altered by the Host's Trick-Mirror and the Furled Fingers's Trick-Mirror. Replaces the white aura with the cooperator aura or removes the white aura entirely, making it identical to the player.
  • Mimic Tear will not make use of the following:
    • Great Runes
    • Pouch
  • Mimic Tear will still attempt to use items for which they do not meet the stat requirement . Examples include:
    • Will attempt, and fail, to cast Spells/Incantations for which it doesn't meet the stat requirements, even if there are alternatives for which it does meet the requirements.
    • Will attempt to use weapon skills for which it does not meet the stat requirements.
    • Will 1-Hand a weapon even if it fails to meet the STR requirement of the weapon when not making use of the 2-Hand bonus.
    • Will continue to prioritize use of right-hand weapon given when summoned, even if it fails the stat requirement and another weapon is available to it.
    • Note that the mimic doesn't get stat boosts from Godrick's Great Rune, equipment, or other sources; so if you're using any of those to meet the requirements for spells or weapon skills, it won't be able to use them.
  • You must be near a rebirth monument to summon spirits from ashes.
  • When you are close to a rebirth monument and able to summon, a monument icon will appear on the left side of the screen.
  • Mostly because it mimics the summoner, it is vulnerable to Death Blight and will die instantly when it procs.
  • Since V. 1.03, some players encountered a bug where the Mimic won't vanish after a Boss' death but will instead continue fighting "the air"  as if the boss was still there.
  • Mimic Tear has Multipliers for HP and stamina the base being 1, it also has a flat 50 damage negation regardless of armor.
    +1 1.141 HP 1 Stamina

My mimic secretly hates me and wants me dead !!
I see it standing off to the side watching as I get pummeled, a little smirk on its face.
I'm going to find a toilet, use my mimic veil next to it, summon you, and see how you like being pooped on!

If you really want to make this thing OP, equip a few Uplifting Aromatics. (Normally costs Arteria Leaf, which is limited)

Mimic Tear spawns in and uses it, essentially giving you a free damage boost, and 90% dmg reduction for a single hit.

Since they don't consume anything, you get free Uplifting Aromatics for a solo play.

People crack me up when they act like this Mimic is so great. Half the time the moron does nothing, you have to make sure he has only the weapon you want him to use because if he does anything at all he's likely to pick the wrong thing. If he actually helped you you were lucky, it's all RNG. The last resort of lazy game developers since dice was invented.

Lionel's armor, Godslayer/Erdtree seal with 60+ faith, Black Blade and Burn O Flame incantations. He literally soloes Malenia with this setup, though it depends on RNG and you still should buff/heal him with supporting incantations. Absolute gigachad. That's how I beat Malenia on my summons only run

Was having trouble with Godskin duo on L80 dex build, swapped my Page for +10 mimic - he sleep-potted them, poisoned them, and did twice my damage. Beat em first try but mimic was the true hero.

Btw if you use "cursed blood pot" and throw it on top of your mimic it will temporary turn back to pre nerf mimic that constantly cast all type of diff spell and attack boss super aggressive + use consumable at will. It last about 1min and you can carry 10 pot.

If you put Great Stars with Prayerful strike on a mimic tear +10 it will heal 31% of its healthbar per AoW. Let us say your healthbar is at 2000. 2000 multiplied by 3.3 is 6600. This means the mimic tear will heal 66 health per normal hit and 2046 per AoW. It will heal more health than your entire health bar every time the AoW hits an enemy.

Give mimic dual dagger with scarlet and poison, then switch to your bleues and frostbite... and spank them bosses :P

I find Mimic suits using a poison infused weapon; the damage output is already low, and the added poison ticks are actually pretty impactful on the total damage output Mimic provides. Have the Kindred Exultation equipped and you'll even get an AR boost for said poison procs; Venomous Fang's with poison infusion work well here, otherwise give it a poison Antspur Rapier, and get double DOT............... Black Flame incantations, Black Flame Tornado, and Corpse Wax Cutter are all viable on the Mimic, due to their % based damage.............. Don't forget to keep 1 Rot Pot, Swarm Pot, Sleeping Pot, Poison Spraymist, Uplifting Aromatic, and other useful status pots/perfumes on your equip bar for it to spam. If you have the Pulley Crossbow, equip two types of status bolts, and Mimic will quickly proc said status on foes from afar; Burred Bolts and Black Key Bolts are good. If facing a boss with a weakness, like Deathbirds or Erdtree Avatars, equip it with Holy Water Pots, Volcano Pots, etc, to target the weakness. If you have the stats, even Urgent Heal and a seal on Mimic can come in useful for it. The Blessed Dew Talisman and the Icon Shield give a useful 5HP per second regeneration, which along with Great Stars w/Stormcaller can make Mimic very bulky to take down. Don't forget Mimic can use infinite Raw Meat Dumplings (sans poison), as well as Warming Stones to heal you both; just be warned it may drop it in a group of enemies, so be warned.

So, is this article saying that it doesn't matter what armor I wear when summoning, it'll have that flat 50 damage negation? Like if I summoned it with Bull Goat's Armor set versus no armor set whatsoever, would it have the same amount of damage negation either way? Does that apply across all damage types, physical and elemental? What about poise? Does it have a static amount of poise, regardless of whether I summon it where the BGA set or not?

One VERY IMPORTANT CLUE to whom uses mainly the Mimic Tear Ashes is about CONSUMABLES!!!
Is very important you have ALWAYS 10 warming stones on your fast access consumables slots as THOSE using the Mimic Tear Summon frequently!
THIS ASHES uses frequently many of his mimetic warming stone randomly on the bosses fights .
Usually the Mimic Tear throws it and even try to get near it, but sometimes that aleatory abandoned warming stones save me countless times int he bosses fights on the game!!!
And MY WARMING STONES are saved from been used...

Don’t know why people hate on mimic tear so much, yeah it’s a really powerful summon that take on pretty much any boss with ease, but it’s unusable in MP outside of caelid collosseum. It’s not like someone using mimic tear is going to ruin someone else’s Elden ring experience

I don’t understand. Everyone keeps saying the mimic tear is over powered, but every time i summon it, it just sits there complaining about Justin Trudeau. I’m not even Canadian

Equip your mimic with Erdtree heal and it will spam it when under 50% health until full, Malenia and Elden Beast be damned (Even on NG+7).

Gave mimic tear a staff(right hand) and a shield and two memorized spells ->mimic tear uses staff as melee weapon and hits boss on the head with it for like 3 damage instead of casting the spells. Brilliant AI, Fromsoft! Just brilliant!

So is there any way to make this crappy thing do ANYTHING in a boss fight?? It fights like literal dog sh*t, always misses with his skill bc it stands way too far away from the boss to hit it with the skill(Prayerful Strike), gets knocked down with every hit by every boss in the game, even the weakest. Just terrible, a rock has better AI than this utter disappointment of a summon. Welp, back to Dung Eater I guess.

                                      • behold, strong foe!, praise the Tarnished! By My Sword

For Shield Int Mages and other non-Meta Int Mage builds, powerstance staves of choice, pick your spell rotations carefully, and pick your talismans carefully before Summoning the Mimic Tear as they are very, very, very bad at using non-Meta playstyles in general.

How interesting it is to see into the minds of FromSoft's developers and learn how they wanted us to play their game and have fun and win fantastically! /anger

What song would be perfect to use when using the mimic? Why not some good old cod black ops 2 perk song known as who is who.

"I was talkin' to myself just the other day,
I was hearin' lots of things
                                          I never thought I'd say,
But one thing I said really blew my mind...
                                          (Who's who?) I said I don't know me,
But I know you, and if you listen closely
We can talk it through, it ain't as simple
As we're gonna find... (Who's who?) *pause)

                                          I think I will save you, I think I don't blame you,
'Cause I like you and you like me...

I feel bad, but not as bad as me...
(Get off me, man!) I was talkin' to myself just the other day,
(You've got the wrong man!) before the bad man came
And took me away, (I'm not that man!)
I feel bad, but not as bad as me(Not who I am!) *pause*

If you summon this thing while you have the Golden Scarab equipped, does it increase rune gain by a further 20%? Common sense says no, but you never know with these games.

Since I was having difficulty finding information regarding it's hp in relation to your hp and seeing a lot of misinformation or just complete lack of proof one way or the other, I did some testing and at 21 vitality, completely naked (theminimum required to summon it), it had about 2100hp. At 99 vitality, it had about 7000hp. Talismans that boost hp also affect as with a 9.5% hp boost he had about 7600-7700hp. It is 100% based on HP and not vigor level as at 60 vigor it had about 6000hp and at 40 vigor it had about 4500. You'd expect to see a much bigger drop off than 1000hp at 60 if it was vigor based.

(not sure why my other comment showing this vital information that is lacking in all the other comments, videos, subreddit, etc. got removed but I have updated it with a bit of extra information and here's the repost)

This becomes the only usable summon in ng+7 due to its tankiness and ability to dodge well even with low armor. It makes a lot of things a lot easier. You can actually cheese Malenia with this ash by using mohg spear. It spams the AoW and if you do too, Malenia takes tens of thousands of damage and gets effectively stunlocked.

So many options regarding spirit summons, ranging from regular trash mobs to unique mini-bosses and the best one is just a copy of you.

                                                          • Anonymous

I see a lot of people asking whether higher level means anything for mimic tear, given how it copies your guy anyway.

It does. I found myself in Ainsel River Main, where you face a Malformed Star. My mimic was level 5. I tried letting it fight the MS. Mimic got torn to shred 5 times.

Now, behind the MS, there's 2x Ghost Gloveworth(6) and 1x GG(7). The game wants you to fight the MS to get them, but you can run like hell and grab them, then run away, go to roundtable and upgrade your Ashes. I upgraded Mimic Tear to level 7.

The difference between level 5 and 7 is massive. Mimic almost killed the MS by itself. Same setup. I only had to sling rock once to finish it. I'm not sure of what exactly changes when MT levels up, but something does. My guess is HP and damage scale linear to level, but I'm not sure. If so, that would explain why Mimic is so strong at higher level, even with a bad build.

Now, for those who say Mimic doesn't work for them: try giving it fewer options. Memorize fewer spells. Because he uses his options at random. For example, I keep Loretta's Greatbow memorized for those few times I want a long-range shot. Well, Mimic keeps using it at random even in close combat.

Also, Mimic has infinite FP. So if you keep glinstone pebble and Great Glintstone Shard memorized (pebble for efficiency, GGS for expediency), there's no reason for Mimic to use pebble, but still will use it.

If you want mimic to do something specific, you need to take away the other options. If you want it to bleed some boss, summon him with a bleed weapon in your hand (you can switch the second after he's summoned), and make sure you don't have a bunch of consumables available. Like, only have kukris.

                                                            • Anonymous

In short, casters and other squishy builds should look for something else, whereas a tanky melee build with a weapon like blasphemous blade which heals you on a % basis will find good use out of it.

So, you don't even need a healing spell for mimic tear to beat Malenia. Just give it Black Flame ritual, 99 faith/end. and some meat dumplings. It will absolutely spam the meat dumplings beyond the three item limit. It's absolutely hilarious.

                                                                • Anonymous

I have a pair of Spiked Caestus (now Star Fists) with Lifesteal Fist that I wear 2H when I summon it. If the enemies are humanoid, it'll use that to heal 30% of it's health each time it grabs somebody. Best way I can think of healing it if you're not a caster. Not sure how high faith healing incantations or consumables work to heal it. Lifesteal Fist and the Spiked Caestus are both conveniently located fairly close to each other in Caelid (10 minutes at most to get both).

                                                                  • Anonymous

I'm playing a INT based mage ans I usually summon tanky ashes so I can stay afar and pewpewpew whatever. I decided to spend a few levels rising HP so to try and summon this mimic dude. Now we are two INT based mages, with no tank whatsoever and he gets totally wrecked. I'll go back to my man Engvall I guess.

                                                                    • Anonymous

I easily beat the mimic and that made me think...if you punch yourself and it hurts, are you weak? Or are you strong?

                                                                      • Anonymous

There is a clear difference between my mimic tear and myself, at least in terms of domage resistance. Against Malenia, while I get destroyed by the waterfall dance, my mimic tera can take it head on without even losing 25% of its hp. I'm curious to know how and why this works.

                                                                        • Anonymous

For Example: If I level up Intelligence does Mimic Sorceries deal more damage?

                                                                          • Anonymous

                                                                            • Anonymous

Balance is hard. I have no idea how you balance a summon that's supposed to be good and versatile and not have it be too good, aside from maybe nerfing the FP costs of other summons. RIP Stormhawk Deenh. You were a nice bird.

                                                                              • Anonymous

you basically cant get hit after summoning this thing if you havent had an opportunity to heal yet

                                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                                    • Anonymous

This is my plan C, nuclear option for bosses. First few tries, solo. Next, summon player online. Mimic tear as last resort if I'm really frustrated. Absolutely rips with my dual great stars build. Better than a coop player because the boss doesn't get a health boost

                                                                                      • Anonymous

I find no shame in using this or any other strat to play the game. It's suppose to be fun. Not everyone finds getting killed by certain bosses repeatedly fun. If it helps you win and have fun, then who cares if you use it? If they didn't want people to use it, it wouldn't be in the game. So have fun, play how you want to play, and don't let other's tell you otherwise.

                                                                                        • Anonymous

Still really great, imo. Put warming stones, the perfume that gives you a shield, and gravity stone fans on your items bar, then summon mimic and provding your build is decent, it will still solo almost anything in the game. I went to Selia on NG+ and just stood there blocking, whilst Mimic was wrecking everything and tossing out healing stones like crazy!

                                                                                          • Anonymous

people seem to try any alternative to Mimic Tears out of boredom, main one being Tiche, usually followed by Azula Beastmen, Greatshield Soldiers, and a major part of "big group" and "tanky big guy" ashes. But their main flaw is always the same: there's ALWAYS someone claiming that [insert 20x more useless spirit] is "better than Mimic Tear", which always leads back to the same perspective as, for example, cleaning company ALWAYS using toilets as comparison for [insert place that humans always puts their hands on] - if something is ALWAYS used as the example, its probably the best one at that, therefore there is no escaping the versatility and potential from Mimic Ashes, not even with Tiche, she is good at dodging yes, but depending on your build, you can have Mimic Tear: proc bleed, proc frostbite, proc scarlet rot, proc all of the 3 at once, use INFINITE Kukris and then even infinite ammunition Pulley Crossbow with Burred Bolt, can have him regenerate himself and proc bleed at the same time by using Blood Tax as well as Prayerful Strike on Great Stars, proc rot and regenerate himself by using that on a Rotten Greataxe and Rotten Battle Hammer, rendering him virtually able to solo some of the hardest bosses with you just sitting in the corner and watching as he constantly deals enormous damage and regenerates himself, let alone when you decide to step in and help. and those are just SOME of the creative examples, the possibilities are endless really, considering the guy can also probably spam spells (and yes, even healing ones) if you summon him only wielding a Sacred Seal or a Glintstone Staff. that's just the tip of the iceberg really, trying to deny that Mimic Ashes are the strongest just for the sake of "not rendering everything else unviable in comparison on the long run" is different from just supporting another spirit ash cuz you have fun playing with it, and this pretending circus is so futile its practically bound to stop happening when people start realising there is just no replacing the Mimic Tears, either that or Fromsoft decides to heavily nerf Mimic Tear's massive health and nerf its damage even more than it already is, then we can talk about other ashes being "literally stronger"

                                                                                            • Anonymous

What exactly does leveling up the mimic do? I thought it “mimiced” your abilities. Is there a nerf to lower levels?

                                                                                              • Anonymous

This Ash, despite it's nerfs, is still extremely effective in almost any situation, as long as you account for it's habits.

I do highly recommend making sure you remove consumables and any extra weapons before summoning: The AI is not very good at mimicing how you like to play and will waste time (and health) using buffs, consumables, and other things you probably don't want it to use.

                                                                                                • Anonymous

This thing desperately needs work on its aoe, I'm so ****ing sick of using it while powerstancing weapons, or 2handing, and watching this brain dead sack of crap try to only spam main hand light attacks, or trying to cast spells at point blank range when given a catalyst to use. It's honestly painful to watch an imitation do so poorly at actually following my example, or even doing blatant common sense **** like NEVER using main hand r1s while power stancing, because why the **** would you. At the very least force them to 2h the weapon if u spawn it while 2handing your weapon, so many strength builds are hard handicapped by 1handing the weapon, it's such a bad call to leave it like that

                                                                                                  • Anonymous

Does the mimic get some HP back if it kills an enemy with the blasphemous blade? I use different summons at blood-filled lake for a little variety and to speed up the rune farm. I noticed yesterday the mimic had nearly a full HP bar after all the red albinaurics in and around the lake were dead. It says here it can use flasks to heal and I don't see the mimic get the same effect I do when I kill with that sword. So is it using a flask to heal or getting HP back from killing an enemy with that sword?

                                                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                                                      • I thought my build was bs but this absolute unit proved me wrong. My build is amazing. We work great together. But Bosses should have more health, sometimes, it feels like im cheating or cheesing the bosses... anyways, very fun Spirit Summon.

                                                                                                        • Anonymous

He also swaps weapons and two hands at his leisure, he will even buff me with golden vow. As long as I have it all equipped and ready when he pops in, he does all the work for me. I am the Elden Lord he thinks I am.

                                                                                                          • Anonymous

Yes, it will whiff ability use often, but those times when it lands is enough to heal it back. It also heals you if you are nearby.

                                                                                                            • Anonymous

I thought I saw it use the godslayer's greatsword two handed for the duo boss fight in Auriza hero's grave, now I'm not so sure. If it only uses weapons one handed regardless I'd be better off summoning it holding Rykard's sword or Milos then yes?

                                                                                                              • Anonymous

I thought it could only use what the player has equipped when it's summoned.

                                                                                                                • Anonymous

Looking at the map and its location from the ancestral woods grace it looks like its right down on the same level and to the south east of the giant sitting on a throne like the boss area for the dragonkin soldier. Some info on how the f**k to get down to it would be nice especially as I couldn't give a rats arse about Ranni's quest I'm only here for the ghost glovewart bell bearing and the mimic tear spirit ash.
