I really wish they would have just done away with the phantom colors in this game so people wouldn't have to waste a talisman slot on this. Even just a simple toggle option would have been nice so people could keep the colors if they really wanted them.

small game to play: make the best looking character face you think you can, wear this with no helmet on, invade or co op and see how many "you're beautiful"s you get (or people using the telescope to get a better look, either counts)

It is annoying to have to spend an entire talisman slot on this but that’s the price of looking good. One benefit it has for invaders besides helping you look snazzy is with stealth. If you are sneaking around and trying to blend into the environment not glowing bright red helps you not stick out like a sore thumb. I normally am an aggressive in your face invader but sometimes I feel like playing stealthy and this talisman helps immensely as I sneak around the area sniping and backstabbing you from the bushes. If you want to switch up your playstyle while invading going stealthy and assassinating them one by one can be pretty fun.

It just removes the yellow color from your character... Because my dumbass was thinking it would make me LOOK LIKE the host!

I tricked one invader with this, they started doing their gesture after killing me, the host then immediately killed them. It was funny, wish It happened more
Fun fact: If you're wearing this when you use the Mimic Tear ashes, it will appear just like you instead of their spirit-esque appearance.

While the Cinders mod in Dark Souls III imo kinda went off the rails in the additions they made to the game and crazy changes one thing I really liked was they made these appearance changing items a reusable consumable and I think that was the best idea and I wish it was a thing in Elden Ring. It lasted until you died and all you had to do was reuse it for no cost or anything. Freed a slot where the Dark Ring would be and you still could look normal. Feel like it would be a great change since Elden Ring already has some reusable consumables.

Invaded a trio and the cooperators had this one on and the host had the one that made them a cooperators.
Coordinating these false talismans in PvP is a mind****.

This talisman has just become my new favorite thing as of recently. Depending on the area I am co-oping in, I choose armor that blends in, like Apostle gear in the snow, and I'll purposefully stalk the host until their ADD kicks in, they start messing around and I'll just completely catch them off guard. I'll even get super into it, stalk them, pick off stranglers, then run away, turn into a deer, and just watch them panic. I probably sound like a serial killer, but the videos I got from it are hilarious.

In terms of PvP, how DO people not realize they're attacking a phantom? It's always told you what the wearer is and the host's name

Though the obvious use may be to get rid of the highly noticeable invader aura for stealth, I've found it far more useful as a cooperator during invasions. Because invaders only win if they kill the host, most will attempt to exclusively target the host over phantoms. Using this, you can trick invaders into attacking you instead, making it far more manageable to keep your host alive.
Also, y'know, good for Fashion Souls too if you can spare the slot.

Another neat thing about this talisman is that if you’re wearing it and summon the mimic tear, it will appear normal too.

This is pretty ****in' poggers for fashion enthusiasts in a co-op context, if I'm understanding it correctly. Being able to co-op with a friend, with of us looking like regular people instead of one of us looking like a glowing spectral being, sounds very dank. I need to remember to test this next time I'm co-oping.

This is not a key item, rather it is a talisman. It has the same function as the Untrue Dark Ring from DS3, making it so when you are an invader or cooperator, you will display as your normal colors, not with the online auras.
