Shard of Alexander is a Talisman in Elden Ring. Shard of Alexander greatly boosts the attack power of Skills by 15%. Players can use Talismans in Elden Ring to boost a variety of Stats.
Shard of the late Alexander, a shattered warrior jar.
Greatly boosts the attack power of skills.
Scraps of stewed flesh cling to the shard, and tatters of ornaments can be seen mingled within the slime. Relics of a red-haired champion, it would seem.
Shard of Alexander Effect in Elden Ring
Shard of Alexander greatly boosts the attack power of Skills by 15% (remains 15% in PVP).

Fromsoft please nerf this. Needs to be 7.5% at most but preferably 5.0% for the sake of balance.

How useful of Fextralife to provide extra information on something only through YouTube videos...

It states that this talisman drops when you complete Alexander's questline, which I did, but I got the Warrior Jar Shard.

Does it effect sepuku in terms of the AR scaling and the amount gained from the shards buff
- Anonymous
This can be a godsend for a lot of the crappier weapon arts that really lack damage like rosus axe, nox flowing sword, and earthshaker
- Anonymous
It is bugged for holy dmg ashes of war.
Unblockable Blade, Wave of Gold and many others are NOT buffed by this talisman in PvP.
- Anonymous
Love this gift from Big Al. Does it stack with roar medallion for roar skills though?
- Anonymous
Realized I could grab this JUST before Maliketh, unbelievably excellent talisman. Most others will give you +30 AR or +120 to certain spell/incants; this baby is a straight up +350 damage to my FAI/DEX(/str)AoWs.
S Tier, Must have for both PvE & PvP builds
- Anonymous
Wonder if this impacts skills that are weapon buffs (sacred Blade etc) or probably not the weapon buff - just the initial damage?
- Anonymous
FS fixed the interaction with watchdog staff. This, jar shard, and spellblade set can actually boost the skill damage now.
- Anonymous
So the dragoncrest talismans get completely shunted in pvp but this crap gets to keep its entire 15% boost?
Sounds balanced.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Does this improve the Roar ashes of war? (Aside from Trolls Roar)
- Anonymous
with the across the board damage nerf, this is actually a reasonable talisman swap to have
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Needs a nerf badly considering all the builds that use it makes it too meta
- Anonymous
So the page says it's a 15% increase to the physical damage of your weapon skill, does this mean it won't effect ancient lightning spear from Bolt of gransax which does 100% lightning damage?
- Anonymous
From need to turn down its numbers in pvp. Maybe do it like what they did with the shield talismans/ ring of iron protection. Like 15% increase in pve and 5% increase in pvp.
- Anonymous
Needs a negative attribute. Pvp oneshots should not be that easy to achieve withought ridiculous min/maxing.
- Anonymous
Its just a huge damage upgrade for no downside... sacred scorpion charms makes you take more damage, dancer charm makes you go light weight, and this is just free damage. Pls buff the other charms from
- Anonymous
Damage buffs historically come at such a premium in From games that they're very often not worth it. The Spear Talisman (Leo Ring) enhances only one physical damage type and only in extremely specific and not very well-explained contexts. The Scorpion charms (Clutch Rings) enhance a specific elemental type by a teeny tiny amount while also destroying your own defenses by a much, much more substantial amount. The Dusk Crown and Blindfold Mask also offered only tiny boosts to magic/dark damage at the cost of 30% absorption and being very poor armor defensively besides.
So this talisman being a no-strings-attached 15% boost to any and all damaging L2 buttons which are already absurdly powerful is, well, ridiculous. From a gameplay perspective, easily one of the best talismans, if not the absolute best. From a balance standpoint... it could stand to have a downside.

For people who don't think their cheap oneshot builds are quite cheap enough
- Anonymous
At least Fromsoft have the compassion to give as a great talisman to make up for having to kill one of the best npcs in the game. (RIP Iron Fist Alexander, i will never forget you)

I am glad this item is so late game. I shutter at the thought this being in the inventory of a lvl 75 invader...

I wanted alexander's shard, but instead he gave me his crutch
I wonder if this works with ashes of war that hit for less than a typical attack like barrage...
**** you and your nerf bullshit. Nerf yourself. Every ****ing cool thing in this game has been nerfed. How about you go take a nerf up the *******.
- Anonymous
should be nerfed to 8% in pvp, and 6% for the normal jar shard. it would still be broken, but stop things like gransax and glintstone pebble from oneshotting most of the time
- Anonymous
this thing should have a damage resistance penalty like the scorpions, its so busted.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
this thing is the biggest crutch ever.
it provides a FREE 15% boost across the board, in PVP and PVE, to skills that already very powerful, whereas the scorpion charms provide a measly 8% damage boost for ONE elemental damage type in pvp with a WHOPPING 15% damage penalty, and 12%/10% in PVE.
why are rings and talismans in these games always so unbalanced? when there is only a small handful of talismans that are featured in every single build no matter the build, that ignore the plethora of other ones, you know you did not balance the game properly. seriously what is the point of even having them in the game at all when most of them are far outclassed?
there should be a talisman tier system in the game, where you get 2, or maybe more, talisman slots reserved for specific tiers. idk how the best way to balance this would be, but its a good idea bc it would force players to make sacrifices and real builds.
say for example we have the traditional 4 talisman slots, but one of them is reserved for only high tier talismans, so you can only have 1, and in that tier you would have things like crimson+2, shard of alexander, erdtree+2, powerful talismans like that, and the other 3 slots reserved for whatever else.
also balance the scorpion charms to give +15% elemental damage for +15% physical damage taken, or maybe 10% or 12% seeing how Elden Ring has much higher damage numbers from previous titles.
this item i think perfectly encapsulates why this game ****ing sucks.

Can I get Alexander to Farum without fighting the giant? Trying to not lose Lyndell on my lvl 75 invasion character.
- Anonymous
He lived without fear... and died without fear. Let us raise our swords and poles in memory of the true Warrior: Alexander, the Mighty Vase.
- Anonymous
I hope someone can help: For some reason, this quest is bugged for me. I beat Radahn, but the NPC doesn't appear. I tried backtracking and checking forward in the questline, and nothing. What can I do?
- Anonymous
This does not effect war cry and barbaric roar charged heavy attack.
- Anonymous
Doesn't seem to affect Royal Knight's Resolve, at least not that I could see. I tested a giant's crusher on the land squirts in agheel and thought I got more damage, but it was likely just the unaware or sneak bonus. Makes sense balance-wise.
- Anonymous
Will this boost the modified charged attacks from war cry/barbaric roar/braggart roar, the same way the roar talisman boosts the charged attacks while under the influence of those skills?
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Just as a headsup to anyone who is trying to run a rivers of blood build or any skill based build, this stacks with the godfrey icon, thought he godfrey is only a charged skill but yknow
To get this talisman you must first smoke a pot. Much buzz, many regret.

I can confirm that you get the talisman even when he is bugged at Radahns Warfield. I tried out everything: reload, rest at grace, finishing the questline in jarburg, attacking him and go to the popes church to reset his hostile status... I also was on every next area he should be (Gelmir, Farum Azula), nothing helped - I just killed him and he dropped the Shard for me.

0/10. doesnt give me DBZ moves like alexander during our duel.

well he was a terrible warrior, but bless alexander for gifting me this lovely talisman

Easily top three talismans in the game, right alongside Bull-Goat's and rotted sword insignia

Wtf Equipping this on a empty slot says it will lower my fp, but does not do that. This is a great talisman to have for anybody, but not sure if the lower fp cost on paper is intentional

So with Alexander being bugged in 1.04 does that make this practically unobtainable?

Does this and the other shard stack? The canvas talismans and the graven talismans stack so…

Does this increas the damage of weapon arts? Like Moonveil and other with magick.

ma boi ate radahn himself just to get clapped instantly by us

Does this work on Darkmoon Greatsword special atk? because the Charge atk talisman doesnt do it for me

I am in NG+6 currently. I am still playing in patch version 1.2 I don't know if that affects this tip. Shard of Alexander will increase rune multiplier. At mogwyn palace rune farm. With no accessories I get 5001k per kill at this site. With golden scarab it goes up to 6009k per kill. Then I add the shard of Alexander it goes up to 7212k per kill. Finally with pickled fowl feet it goes up to 9375k per enemy with wave of gold skill from the sacred relic sword. Is this known? I don't see anyone mentioning this in any videos or forums.

Wow
I haven't got this yet. But when I do it will be a HUGE boost to Pulley bow Mighty Shot on this Turok playthrough I'm doing.
So, something i noticed, as a bit of a lore type thing, you can only get this after the fire-giant, unless you glitch out to farum azur, otherwise Alexander drops the warrior jar shard. During the fight in farum azur he can now use fire based attacks, and the description says that there seems to be the remains of a red-haired champion inside him now, so it seems to imply that after your fight with the giant, Alexander took some of the giant inside him to gain more power. Nice bit of storytelling without actually stating it outright, i think.
- Anonymous
After testing on omens it seems to not affect weapon art ashes of war. At least not the passive holy/ fire/ or magic damage only the ash of war itself the actual (L2). Not worth it unless you spam your ash of war.

In my play through of 300+ hours and still haven’t gone through the end the first time because I’m trying to be thorough, the order of locations in which Alexander appears varies.
I never saw him in Limgrave, my first encounter with him was talking to him after Radahn when he was picking up new insidey parts for himself.
Then Mt Gelmir in the magma pit.
The last time I saw him was when he was a summon for the Fire Giant.

Fix your janky a** site!!! It’s nearly impossible to post a comment on any browser I try on my iPhone and laptop. I type it out, go through the glitchy captcha and after submitting it shows “warning your comment could not be posted” after clearing all I typed.
99.999% of the time it does this. This is a wiki site where players come for info/help but you can’t comment to answer questions for the most part. I know I can’t be the only one either.

Not even sure how i got this talisman i barely did his quest
Free him from ground
Talked to him in 2-3 spots
And faught radahn with him
Thats pretty much it until his fight

When you use seppuku and you stab yourself it is technically skill damage so does the damage increase? Notvtalking about the buff im talking about the damage to youself.

So Im curious. If a Jar stuffed down some flesh with Scarlet rot, would his inside start to rot? Will he get scarlet rot himself? Will he die if the insides gets consumed by rot?
Replies on here take forever so i'm just gunna post this for anyone confused about this Talisman.
Shard of Alexander/Warrior Jar Shard ONLY increases damage being dealt directly from the skill itself (Skill=Ash of War; spells and incantations are NOT skills).
It DOES NOT improve the following effects coming from skills:
-Damage increasing buffs
-Status effect build up
-Any kind of debuff related effect
-Healing effects
-Enhanced R2 (heavy attacks) from Ashes of War like Warcry/Shriek of Milos

Does it work with unsheathe and skills that boost damage like lighting armament?
- Anonymous
It is a great talisman for sure. If he wasn't bugged for me...
Now I'll surely have to kill him to get at least the lesser version because FS did sh*t and I don't want to do a whole goddamn NG+ just for that.
I am really sorry Alex, blame FS, not me.
Likely the red hair comes from Radahn as he is seen stuffing remains inside of himself after the fight so it is probable he got some of Radahn's remains too.

Does this inly increase skills physical attacks damage or magic and faith skills counts? like sword of the night and flame? does that work?
- Anonymous
Haven't seen anyone ask this yet but does it buff damage of weapon arts that act as weapon buffs? (Example being Treespear and its Sacred Order weapon art that buffs the weapon with Holy)
- Anonymous
This talisman DOES NOT increase the damage of R2's that are changed by things like Shriek of Milos/Warcry/etc; seeing few comments spreading this wrong info. If you want to increase the R2 damage from those types of AoW's you need to use Roar Medallion or Axe Talisman (for this to work the R2 needs to be fully charged).
- Anonymous
MAKE SURE TO FULLY TALK WITH HIM AT THE FINAL LOCATION TO ACTIVATE THE FIGHT!
Rather than just attacking him early and not getting the Shard of Alexander, and wasting time doing the entire quest! Haha!!

what does skills mean: ashes of war and things like that or does it include spells?
- Anonymous
Stack this with Roar medallion and equip Beast Roar to punish the pants off of casters
- Anonymous
Lol the waves of darkness skill while having Shard of Alexander, Godrey's icon, magic scorpion charm, with a scholar's armament weapon buff while standing in terra magica is the most hilarious thing i've come across so far in this game.
- Anonymous
Does this affect DMGS' charged R2 (with Weapon art active) ?

- Anonymous
Wait so the Description Implies that he Stuffed some of Radahns flesh into him. But that seems kinda stupid, since yknow his whole Deal is that he has been heavily infected with Scarlet Rot for a while. I feel like stuffing infected Remains into you is not the best Idea. Also how does it even work, did he only take his Head? Cause brother you aint fitting a 4 Story Tall Mountain of a Man inside you fam lmao
- Anonymous
Equipped in his honor. Also because This + Waterfowl Dance = lol

This talisman boosts the damage output of AOW's that directly hit an enemy. Flame of Redmanes, Storm Caller, Bloody Slash, etc.. to name a few examples. To the best of my knowledge and after very minimal testing it does not increase the effectiveness of self-buffs or weapon buffs like Golden Vow or Royal Knight's Resolve.
