Who is the red haired champion the talisman mentions? The same as in castle Morne? or just Radahn since Alexander binged on the corpses in the wailing dunes?

      • Anonymous

        To get it:
        - defeat Radahn
        - visit Alexander at Mt Gelmir
        - defeat Fire Giant
        - defeat Alexander in Farum Azula

Let's nerf all talismans in the game but leave L2 spam talisman INTACT for both PvE and PvP. Roar Talisman? Nerfed! Scorpion Charms? What about less damage dealt and MORE damage recieved? Dragoncrest? Go eat some crab like the rest of us!

I deserve it. I did his questline, all the way up to his duel in Faram and for timesaving, I didn't bother talking to him, just attacked. He didn't drop this talisman, just the weaker one. It's well deserved and all I can do is say EXHAUST HIS DIALOGUE IN FARAM BEFORE FIGHTING.

            • Anonymous

In case anyone is wondering, I never spoke with Alexander, and beat the game.
Then, to get the shard, all I had to do was go to the Rahdan arena, (he was there), exhaust his dialog, then he moved directly to his Mt. Gelmir location. I exhausted his dialog there, and he moved directly to Crumbling Farum Azula.
              That's all that's required.

‘Scraps of stewed flesh cling to the shard, and tatters of ornaments can be seen mingled within the slime. Relics of a red-haired champion, it would seem.’

Not sure if I’ve seen this mentioned elsewhere yet, but the noted ‘ornament’ in the shard’s description is actually the upper right section of Radahn’s Redmane Helm!

Bugged for holy damage (does not work) just like flock's canvas talisman. this bug has existed since day 1. Come on, FromSoftware.

Everyone asking does it boost (X), please just do yourself a favor and go hit an enemy without it, rest, and hit the same enemy with it. It’s that easy to test.

Keep in mind, Alexander carries with him the souls of the Greatest Warriors of the Shattering, which are passed on to Jar Bairn when you give him the innards. That little guy is gonna become the greatest warrior jar ever.

Still bugged since day 1, does not boost holy damage ashes of war in pvp. Example would be coded swords ash of war - unblockable blade.

Anyone have a chance to test if this works with the crit animation on the Sword of Damnation's weapon skill? I'm assuming it probably works with the AOE, but with the command grab being treated like a crit, I'm curious if it still works for that or not.

Wait for this Shard instead of the weaker one.

Now that the DLC is coming out, it's worth waiting for the superior version.

                            • Anonymous

You need to speak to him multiple times to start the fight in Farum Azula to get this trinket. If you speak to him once and then attack you only get the Warrior Shard when he is defeated. I waited until the end of the game to mess it up lol.

                              • I really cannot understand how they nerfed things like Roar Medallion in PVP, but then the Shard of Alexander is kept exactly the same as in PVE lmao.

Can i get the shard of alexander if i don't kill radahn, like if i reach farum azula without killing radahn will he be there and will i be able to get the shard (prepping for dlc and i want to save radahn bc his death is required for access to the dlc and i want to see if a unique cut scene plays)

                                  • Anonymous

WARNING. You cannot get this item if you kill Alexander, EVEN AT FARUM AZULA, without completing his questline. You need to talk to him and challenge him to battle proper, or you will lose the stronger shard and the Innards for the Jar Talisman. I have tested it - he has unique dialogue, and doesn't have a speech upon death if you attack before talking.

This item is almost impossible to get. There are a million ways to play through the game but apparently there's only ONE way to play through it and get this item. I've followed guides and tried 6 times to get this item and all failed. Purr, utter bullshit.

The red hair could be from Radahn after the festival or possibly another legendary hero like the champion who wielded the brick hammer.

But red hair is a clear sign of Radagon's and Fire Giant's lineage. So Chadahn is probably the best option since we see him stuffing himself after the festival

                                        • Anonymous

When it says it’s red hair I don’t think it’s Radahn or fire giant. It’s not Radahn I don’t think becuase Alexander doesn’t use gravity magic and Alexander uses a fire attack that makes people think it’s the fire giants but he uses it during the fight leaving me to believe he’s neither

                                          • One of my biggest criticisms of this game is that the PvP balance adjustments are so seemingly random and arbitrary sometimes. Pearldrake Talisman +2 provides a +9% Elemental Damage Negation boost, which is then cut down to +4% in PvP, whereas this offers a +15% Attack Power boost to the best, most broken move in your arsenal while still being allowed to have its full effect in PvP. Scorpion Charms go from having +12% SPECIFIC Elemental Damage boost with a justifiable -10% Physical Negation penalty to a measly +8% boost with an absolutely crippling -15% penalty, whereas some like the Graven-Mass Talisman can boost the power of all Sorceries you cast by 8% with no downsides. Something like the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman understandably should be nerfed so that it isn't used in every PvP build ever, but a 75% reduction is completely overkill (20% to 5%) and makes running the Talisman NEVER a good idea in PvP, but the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia and Millicent's Prosthesis are allowed to operate at full effectiveness, and each provide upwards of an 13% damage boost and 11% damage boost respectively. Same applies to Crystal Tears, the Opaline Hardtear is nerfed from 15% negation to 10% negation, whereas the Thorny Cracked Tear is allowed to function at full power (20% damage boost in the same vein as the previous two talismans) and the Winged Crystal Tear is just blatantly broken with its +450% Max Equipment Boost, letting you wear the heaviest and best armor in the game while still getting to Light Roll. None of these numbers line up or are coherent with each other, it's like they were balanced by two completely different teams with vastly different opinions about how the game should be balanced.

Maybe a stupid question, but does it effect the charged r2s of golden tempering? coz as far as i know, axe talisman does not boost that, so im wondering if this( and possibly godfrey icon) boosts it, counting it as a charged aow instead of a charged attack

                                              • Anonymous

I equipped this shard while farming Albinaurics at Mohgwyn, and souls gain jumped from 2452 to 2943 when using Wave of Gold. I don't know if it's a bug or a mechanic I'm unaware of. but I haven't seen this mentioned so I thought I'd throw it out there.

                                                • Anonymous

Currently lowers the damage of the ash of war Sorcery of the Crozier on the Watchdog's Staff. Hopefully this bug will be fixed in the next patch.

Reminder that this 15% increase also applies to bow skills like Mighty Shot, Through-&-Through and Rain of Arrows, so make sure to use this if you want a big oomph to your sniping... or just really really hate dragon-like bosses.

I think that the red hair in the shard is from the red hair of Radahn. (Alexander ate Radahn's corpse too)

Its really funny that they made every somewhat useful talisman completely worthless in pvp but this ****ing garbage gets to keep its 15% damage bonus to l2 spam

elden normies would have a seizure if they saw the % increase ring in demons souls and dark souls 1 gave without needing + versions, then show them dark souls 2 for a game with broken rings with + versions and watch them foam at the mouth

A buff as high as 15% that remains 15% in PvP, with no downside, that affects some of the already most powerful (in terms of both damage, opportunity, and utility) attacks in the game is honestly insane for Fromsoft. These are the people who normally put damage boosts behind much more contrived conditions (DS1/3 Leo Ring) and/or with a horrible drawback (DS3 Flynn's Ring requiring being essentially unarmored for an even smaller bonus, clutch rings). The pvp one-shot potential this talisman enables is brutal.

Instead it is a mandatory requirement giving 30-90 levels worth of extra damage to your L2's (depending on your softcap), further enforcing the spam of L2's.

                                                                  • Anonymous

Flame of Redmanes, Storm Caller, Bloody Slash, etc.. to name a few examples. To the best of my knowledge and after very minimal testing it does not increase the effectiveness of self-buffs or weapon buffs like Golden Vow or Royal Knight's Resolve.

                                                                                • Anonymous
