Absolutely not worth the MASSIVE increase in damage. Casting speed reduction is so minimal in the grand scheme of things for PvE that most people wouldn't even use this even if it didn't debuff you.

      • Anonymous

Max casting speed is only for pvp, since allows some true combo (like stone of gurranq into WoG), but it can be achieved using redagon + 40 dex or Azure’s Glimtstone; so why should anybody use this and get -30% absorption?! It’s crazy.

        • Anonymous

So I did a little testing when comparing the speeds with 20 dex and there is a VERY MARGINAL different between this and Radagon Icon (RI); the biggest difference between the two is that with this one your ass is getting blasted 30% harder and this item weighs almost twice as much as RI (RI weighs 0.7 and this is 1.3), while not a huge deal this can kinda suck if you are trying to have light weight . This thing is only MAYBE useful in the DLC but even then, you are probably better off with Radagon icon. This item seems like an L, unless I am missing something.

          • Anonymous

This really isn't worth the -30% damage absorption. Radagon's Icon remains better for most builds.

People are like "don't underestimate the casting speed difference". Thing is, look up videos of how dexterity affects casting speed. The difference is very small, and makes very little difference for charged spells. Where cast speeds gets noticeable is for chain casting spells, as the difference starts adding up. With how relentless DLC bosses are, you're likely only getting one spell off every so often; let alone the already slow spells that are still going to be somewhat slow even with cast speed.

Casting speed already caps out at 70 virtual dexterity, so 99 virtual dexterity is COMPLETELY overkill. If you have 40 dexterity, this item is just worse than Radagon's Icon in every way. Likely the same for ~30 dexterity as well, as the difference between 60 virtual dex and 70 virtual dex is very hard to spot (though there is one).

In short, this is only really worthwhile if you haven't invested into dexterity at all. At 30 dexterity and above, radagon's icon is just better in every conceivable way without having a downside.

I wished this was just like sage ring +2 from DS3, just casting speed without a drawback that big attached to it, or if they wanted a drawback it could have been something like Azur staff and just make you use more fp

Funnily enough this talisman can actually improve the survivaility of some caster builds, now if you want max cast speed you don't have to invest 30-ish points into dex to get it to 40 then wear the Radagon's thingy, you can just invest those points into vigour instead

                • Anonymous

please don't give host wizards another way to get one-shot I'm begging you I just want to do some jolly co-operation ;-; let the downside be literally anything else please

                  • Anonymous

It's good for dlc use. I have about 50%-54% dmg negation before putting it on, after putting it on it lowers it to 14% less. Also this game is a fckn roll simulator, just don't get hit lol

                    • Anonymous

The game is a roll simulator anyways, just don't get hit. This thing gives 60+ levels of dex utility for mages. And the increase in speed can also be counted as a DPS boost anyways.

                      • Anonymous

I agree 30% is overkill but it definitely should have at least 15% beacause that is a good tradeoff for how powerful the effect is. If it had no downside Radagon icon would become a joke and this would be the most broken talisman in the game.

                        • Anonymous

You are already sacrificing a precious talisman slot that could go towards more damage why does this have a negative tradeoff at all 30% is literally insane

                          • Anonymous

-30% stat absorption is completely absurd for what used to be an ordinary +2 ring in Dark Souls 3. The comment below stating that the increase in damage taken is meant for the DLC where you gain higher absorption due to the scadutree blessing may be true but that blessing is only active in the DLC; it does not affect the base game nor PvP.

The damage increase on this talisman needs to be removed entirely. It is unbalanced at its current state.

                            • Anonymous

Did y'all panicking about this talisman's defense reduction even try it out in the actual DLC areas? This was made for the DLC due to how the calculation works with the Scadutree Blessings.

For example, right now I have ~62% physical damage reduction and ~54% magic damage reductions, but when I put this on, it only goes down to ~50% physical and ~40% magic. And considering how incredible casting speed is for the DLC attack spamfest nonsense, getting max speed with one mere talisman slot is AMAZING.

This is unusable with the current damage increase. You'd better hope this gets patched with a massively reduced damage penalty or this talisman is going to be worthless.

Thanks for doubling down on a wack design decision Fromsoft. I guess strength/intelligence and strength/faith builds just need to level dex to 40.

                                  • Anonymous

+70 virtual dex (the casting speed cap) for -30% to all defences, basically double the debuff of soreseals.

                                    • Anonymous

"Increase damage taken" is honestly putting it mildly since this thing tanks your defense by -30%.

Unless they reduce the damage debuff to 10% this thing isn't even worth looking considering you get the same effect by using radagon icon + offhand azur staff, which doesn't cost anything other than maybe 5 weight points for the staff.

Maybe it's useful if you're running a gimmick build that requires dual wielding staves for the bonus like the night sorceries, but other than that it's worthless for both fth and int

                                      • I wonder how it scales up in comparison to Radagon's Icon.

If I'm not mistaken, Radagon already gives +30 Virtual Dex. I'm taking a huge guess here but Imma say this new talisman might be +40? Does a mere extra +10 Virtual Dex really justifies the Increase in Damage Taken (which I'm gonna assume is 15%)? Pretty sure Max Speed is capped at 70 Dex if I'm not mistaken. Most End-Game builds will have ~20 Dex if not more, so with Radagon's Icon, you're at 50/70 Virtual Dex which is a decent enough casting speed. I guess if the talisman was +50 Virtual Dex (I would be severely shocked if it was) you could reach the cap with just this talisman and some very basic Dex investment, which might be the appeal of it, but eh. I might have to pass on this one, even as a Caster myself. We'll see though, when testing gets done.

lets hope the damage recieved is minimal since we already have radagon icon and i dont want to invest in dexterity that much
